Flour + Water San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
HIT IN THE HEAD WITH A WINE BOTTLE I had high expectations
HIT IN THE HEAD WITH A WINE BOTTLE I had high expectations for this restaurant, but my recent experience was nothing short of shocking and embarrassing. Here are the main points of concern: - During dinner, I was hit in the head with a wine bottle by a waiter. The bottle bounced off my head and shattered, causing quite a scene, of significant discomfort and embarrassment. - To my dismay, no manager came to speak with me or offer any form of apology or assistance. - Despite the incident, neither my dinner nor the wine was comped. Instead, I was offered only a $15 piece of cheese, which felt like an insult considering the pain and disruption caused. - Adding to the embarrassment, several waiters made jokes at my expense, further highlighting the lack of professionalism and care. I understand that accidents happen, but the lack of proper handling and empathy in such situations is disappointing. The absence of managerial intervention and the inadequate compensation left me feeling undervalued and disrespected. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their response to such incidents in the future.

I went to Flour + Water with my date, and it was truly memorable! I ordered the Squid Ink Fusilli, which was bursting with unique flavors and had a delightful hint of spice. The dessert perfectly complemented the pasta; you have to try the chocolate budino--it's light, sweet, and incredibly melt-in-your-mouth smooth! The service was exceptional, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of all night. I highly recommend this place and am already looking forward to dining there again!
The place has pleasant setting and great atmosphere too.
The interior was cool and good lighting. Nice table chairs. The menu was absolutely excellent and great options too. The servers were outstanding and friendly. We had the Margherita Pizza, Spring Allium Sacchetti, and Farro Garganelli. Everything was well-cooked and great quality food. The price was reasonable too.
None of the dishes made me want to have a second bite.
The carbonara pizza was too salty, and we asked to waiter to make the rest the dishes less salty. However, the rest of the dishes are still salty. I had high expectations as the other comments are good, yet we are so disappointed.
Great all around.
Service, food, experience... all was amazing. We did a pasta tasting and everyone was very knowledgeable about the food they were serving. Great time spent with my wife
Food is trying to hard to be fancy, it's not that good.
Service was absolutely terrible
The ambiance was nice, service was also pretty good too but
The ambiance was nice, service was also pretty good too but for the price, I didn't find the food worth it. I was never a pasta lover in the first place, but I expected better for the price of each dish. While their dishes may be unique, I'll probably stick to my pesto or Alfredo next time if they have it.
Ambiance, food, and service are all on point here.
We opted for the pasta tasting menu. The savory cannoli and tuna crudo appetizers were delicious. The tuna crudo had a variety of flavors across the flavor spectrum that were well balanced. Of the entrees, I enjoyed the Squid Ink Corzetti and Grano Arso Cappellacci Dei Briganti. However, all of the offerings were delicious. Olivia, Lucy, Coleman, and the others we interacted with were pleasant and offered excellent service. Thanks for a quality dining experience.
We went for a birthday dinner and got the tasting menu.
The first appetizers ere amazing. And the first oats was good. All the meat filled pastas were the same and the brother one was horrible. The problem is they use the same ingredients in almost all the dishes - fava beans and spring peas and butter and veal. So all the flavors are repetitive for $135 a person. Service is pretty good at first and when they change out plates but they forget when you ask for ice or a straw etc. Ambiance is loud inside and kind of dark as well... not my favorite.

Pasta is one of my favorite foods, and the menu at Flour +
Pasta is one of my favorite foods, and the menu at Flour + Water was everything I wanted it to be. My only regret is that I didn't discover it sooner. The flavors were fantastic and delicious, while also being complex and interesting. I dislike when fancy places overdo the complexity at the expense of flavor, but this menu did not compromise on flavor. It was truly delicious. Flour + Water located in the Mission, San Francisco Price: $135/person For the quality, amazing flavors and textures, and lovely staff and atmosphere, this tasting menu is absolutely worth the price. I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't super full after the meal. The pace and portions were perfect such that it felt like a light meal, despite eating what felt like a lot of food. My only tiny nitpicks: I wasn't the biggest fan of the crab pasta breadcrumb texture which reminded me of accidental sand or shell pieces in seafood, and the chocolate budino was a bit too salty and too large/rich for my taste. Other than those tiny things, the menu was basically perfect.
Didn't seat us until 30 minutes after our 9pm reservation.
That's unacceptable and a terrible way to treat your customers. 15 minutes I totally get. 30 minutes speaks to bad management. A terrible start to the meal, and if I were running a place I would have been deeply apologetic and at least offered a drink on the house. Once we were finally seated at 9:30, our waiter promised he would "take great care of us". Then he promptly disappeared and someone else not responsible for us subbed in so that we could place orders. Then she disappeared as well and a third server took over. Actually hilarious. When we finally ordered, we had three starters that we asked to be spaced out. They then sent them out all at once to rush us. There wasn't even room on the table. The food was ok but not worth being treated like this. It is such a shame because we were very excited to come here. It is deeply difficult for food to overcome the foul mood it puts your customers in when you treat them like that. I'm tempted to give them another shot, but I feel like an apology is in order. This was a real fail at basic hospitality.
Simple, authentic pizza
Really comforting and modern decor, friendly service and authentic pizza. Delicious! Smoked eggplant pizza was to die for. No one flavor outdid the others. Margherita pizza also fab. Highly recommend for a laid back pie.
Overall 8/10 We tried the pasta tasting menu at Flour +
Overall 8/10 We tried the pasta tasting menu at Flour + Water a few weeks ago, and it was a truly delightful experience. I tried the vegetarian menu and my friend got the regular menu. We both loved the experience. We started off with a savory cannoli which was a delightful bite before moving on to their crudo, arancini and a potato cloud dish. Crude was delightful; arancini was good; the potato cloud was a wonderful dish of flavor and textures that worked together wonderfully. Taleggio was really good. I was a bit skeptical of the balsamic, and was very pleasantly surprised. The saffron malloreddus was one of the best dishes of the night; the flavors worked together perfectly, and crab was delicious. The golden beets complemented the dish wonderfully. The tortellini in the soup broth was lovely. Anoloni was surprisingly good, but not our favorite of the night. Finishing off with the vrache di mulo was probably my second favorite of the night. We ended the night with the chocolate pudding which was wonderful. I've been to their sister restaurants, both of which we loved, so was very happy to enjoy this one as well. Would love to return. Service was nice and attentive as well.
honestly always love flour and water.
came here with a friend on a tuesday night and they only had a thirty minute wait which I was pretty happy with. we hung out at his pottery studio nearby while we waited for a table and got to sit at the bar. I will say, it is a bit on the pricier side (expect plates / dishes to be in the 25-30 range) and if you want to do the tasting menu its 135. HOWEVER, even though it's a little bit more expensive (at least for stuff that I enjoy spending), it's really good. it's definitely worth it. Like i probably spent close to a similar amount to this at italian place in other spots around the city and its like... WAY better. we got the 'nduja pizza and the rumpet mushroom pasta and the papperdelle. everything was absolutely amazing and the papperdelle had a meaty quality that reminded me of taiwanese braised beef which was kind of jarring to me. The service was also really kind, but they were a bit slow on the dishes so dinging it for that but the interior is so so cute as well.
We had a most wonderful dinner here the other night.
The sparkling wine was fantastic, and above all, the music wasn't super loud anymore, they listened to the feedback and I was able to hear others without having to yell or get really close to them. That is a game changer for me. Especially since the music is also great as well, which is a pity if it's too loud, right? There were older crowds there as well, this is a great sign as we can infer that people can hear each other. The pizza was a tad salty but I believe that has always been a feature here, not a bug. I still wish it was a teeny bit less salty though. Maybe Thomas may read this, who knows. The beet salad was off the charts incredible, and the Mushroom pasta was delicious. The bread and butter divine. We'll be back soon.
Over priced BUT delicious, but I wish the pasta was
Over priced BUT delicious, but I wish the pasta was highlighted a little more - not every dish needs so much sauce and cheese and whatever else! Let the pasta be the star of the show. Nothing like fresh house made pasta - which they serve here - all I am saying is let it be the sole star of the show in at least one dish. For context - we did the tasting menu. The chip with Caio e Pepe is out do this world!!!
Lives up to the hype!
This restaurant definitely lived up to the hype! Had a party of four so did the pasta tasting to try a little bit of everything family style. The pastas were better than the pizzas but the chocolate bundino dessert stole the show - so good! I was surprised that the bill was not significantly pricier than their Penny Roma restaurant down the street.
The food is AMAZING and the atmosphere is great! The food
The food is AMAZING and the atmosphere is great! The food is so authentic as well, will definitely be coming again
Food was decent.
I was most annoyed about the overall service. I got 4 tasting menus, 2 with wine pairings. Before it was even 3 hours, they were already kicking us off the table... we had food that we asked to get boxed and they never brought it. We felt rushed the whole time. How can we eat that fast for that many courses? Disappointed overall. I hope they do better
TL;DR Trendy != Good This is my biggest disappointment in
TL;DR Trendy != Good This is my biggest disappointment in SF so far. If you factor the difficulty to get a reservation and the price, this could be the single worst restaurant I've ever dinned at. Let's just start by not forgetting that we were very please with out appetizers. The beat salad was fantastic and so was the tiny ricotta. We ordered 3 pasta dishes: - the pork ravioli [3/5] - the braised pork [1/5] - the mushroom ragu [0/5] Out of the 3 of us none of us could finish our dish, which considering the portion size it pretty shocking, the ravioli order is just a few of them. None of us really appreciated any of them. The braised pork was the best of but like all of them it was bathing in oil and was so rich it's was appetizing. The leftover container themselves could not hold the fatty dishes and leaked all.
Came here for lunch, a walk-in party of 4.
The service was great, our server was quick and attentive. Although the pizzas we ordered were just OK. Really heavy on the cheese and a bit salty. I hope to try their pasta one day.
Heaven in my mouth!
It was so good we went two nights in a row! The food was absolutely amazing! Do not miss going to this place. I don’t think I would bring my little kids here, but definitely a night out with your significant other or friends.

Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Yes unfortunately they are finding more and more ways to lock up sellers money. Sell thru rate, refund rate, limiting withdrawal amounts ler day and per month (which for me are the same number which makes no sense). Lot of sellers leaving as you can see from the lifetime sales not really increasing. Most posts on here are frustrated sellers which is not a recipe for success

I’m sorry to hear about this - I’m a brand new seller on the platform and didn’t realize this was a *thing* - any chance you can point me to the fine print/documentation where this policy is stated (also identifying other caveats like this would be appreciated)?
