This place was super hard to find so good job on the speak easy part :) However the food and drink was soooooo delicious. The thought that goes into the drink infusions and food parings are perfect. I cant even say what my favorite is because everything was so delicious.

Easily one of the coolest, funnest, and most memorable experiences. I'm all about the experience and this place nailed it. Loved the intimate setting of a speakeasy that seats 8. Without giving away too much, my friend and I had around 12 courses of cocktails paired with small bites. All for only $140/pp. I was very impressed by the one man show. The mixologist made drinks, plated the food, introduced everything, and had conversations with everyone. Not an easy job but he did excellent. I left feeling full and buzzed. Had to take a couple laps around the block to walk it off. I know they like to experiment, so I'm looking forward to coming back!
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience at the F&Bar.
Must reserve online! It's a bit pricey for what it is. But they do service every mini snack pairing with a shot of alcohol. Pairing is perfect with every drink. Do not come with an empty stomach because food will not fill you up unless you want to get wasted drunk. This place only seat 9 people for the experience. Very intimate experience. The host tries to get to know each and everyone in the room. And also if there are any allergies or food restrictions they can accommodate to an extension.

If you're giving this poetic project less than a 5, you missed the whole vision. Complaining about the price, then go spend less on less. I highly recommend. Perfect amount of spirits, food was impeccable, combinations ignited my curiosity and tastebuds. Pure bliss. Will enjoy again. Thank you Chef.

An awesome awesome experience! And everyone needs to check out F & Bar in Atwater! The ambience was so cool. It gave a speakeasy vibe and I loved it. Our host Angel was amazing and started us off with a strawberry popsicle. Don't let the small bites fool you, you will definitely leave from this 2 hour experience full and feeling great! Each drink is creatively crafted to go with each food item. I tried all food items and drinks even the spicy ones lol (I do not do spicy) and even ate a tamale and if you know me you know I do not eat tamales but the F & Bar tamale was TOP TIER! I will be back for my birthday and I can not wait!

It is almost impossible to comprehend how special this place is. What has been created by one person and executed by one person per service is almost too good to be true. But as luck should have it, it is completely real. I was positively blown away by the creativity and dedication to craft. I love all the chances they took with special ingredients and unique preparations. It's a small space which, in this case, is a beautiful thing. It's a special space and it's so incredibly unique it's the kind of place that might exist in a fairytale. I find it funny that people complain about getting up to get their own water. Why don't you just get water for everyone while you're up? The intimacy created doesn't require another server, and it's right behind your seat! if you really don't want to ask for a napkin because it's part of their practice to not give things to people that they waste, bring your own or ask for one (they have them) or bring one in your pocket. The ambience of the place is so wildly unique and unusual, and so incredibly interestingly curated it is something to behold. I do agree that you have two different opportunities to enjoy this restaurant in different ways. Make friends with the strangers, since it's an eight person or nine person seating, and be friendly and have a good time, or buy out the seating for yourself and bring your friends. Open your mind and have a good time! I think for what they provide, the value is incredible at $140 per person. Getting 13 complicated cocktails with individual pairings is something so special and so challenging to create and execute, It's just incredible.. To continue the night's cosmic shift created in me, I purchased some of Chef John's psychedelic mushrooms to go in the form of a chocolate bar. I'm not going to take them now, but when I want to go back to FandBAR bar in my mind, I think I'll take a bite.

I think out of all the courses, I only liked 1 drink and 2 food items? Definitely not worth the price. It's a cute idea but the quality and items need to be better. And our hostess/server/bartender was annoying. She talked the entire time and definitely overshared to the point that it was weird. I wouldn't go back!

I'm conflicted about my experience, but ultimately, the food just wasn't great. First, the food and drinks are prepared off-site, so the freshness is going to be limited. As far as anything's flavor- that was varied. Some of it was pretty good, others were relatively bland or basic. Other aspects were obnoxious. You can tell these hosts are really trained to drive home how cool and great Chef John is. One thing that kept coming up is how he is a "culinary trained chef", which is like saying a "musically trained musician". Vague and broad. The restaurant itself, which is supposed to look like an old speakeasy, was largely uncomfortable. The seats, which you're on for minimum two hours, are just rickety wooden bar stool things and you are shoulder to shoulder with everyone there. Overall it felt pretty grimy. Unfortunately, my experience felt like it existed to stroke someone's ego.
Be the first to ReplyGood concept but I expected more for the price I paid.
The food was premade from a central kitchen I believe, so dont expect freshly made food. The drinks are also mostly premade I think. Although some are interesting and others are not So memorable. Most of them were too sweet for me. You have to get your own water and there was no napkin which is a little shocking. I paid over $300 to get my own water. I feel like for the price they charge they could upgrade the chairs to something for comfortable and the seating area was just soooo narrow. Every time a bigger person walks behind me, I get shoved a little bit. Overall decent experience, it felt personal but Will I come back? Probably not. It's def not for everyone.

For 140 and a tip person you would hope to have a great experience but that wasn't the case. Some of the drinks and bites were tasty but not all and have no control over the menu. I understand that's it's part of the experience but the room being hot, not being given napkins and portions being the size of a cracker was lackluster. The drinks were pre mixed, and the server looked like they didn't want to be there, it was fun and new but definitely not worth the price or hype. You're better off going somewhere else

Fabulous food and drink pairings, top notch service, unforgettable ambiance. The perfect date night or a super cool place to go with friends or meet new friends. I can't recommend enough.
Be the first to ReplyJust an overall good vibe.
We didn't want the courses to end! Every 3 months the menu changes, so we definitely would like to return. Intimate venue with 8 chairs. $125 per person, and well worth it. The bartender / Omakaze host was kind and never had an awkward moment, which I'm sure could be challenging. Would definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyThe gist of it is this: This is not a typical bar.
It's actually an omakase-type experience: basically it's a chef-curated pairing of various mini-cocktails and mini appetizers. If you've ever seen Chef's Table, it's just that but with booze. And just like luxury restaurants that do chef's tables, reservations are required and need to be booked way in advance. More details: This is an expertly-tailored sensory experience. Every cocktail is paired with an outstanding little dish. The amount of alcohol is set up just right so that you don't walk out of there staggering. You might be a little buzzed, if you're a light weight. Otherwise, you'll have a mild head change. There's different seasonal menus. So, if you liked it, you can visit it up to four times a year and get a different experience each time. I loved this place. However, I'm really into trying different cuisines, lots of flavors, bold takes on traditional dishes, etc. The cocktails were a little out there, but I think even the wildest ones were made manageable for my palate by the food. As always, good pairing makes each item even better than it would be by itself.
Be the first to ReplyONE OF THE ONLY TRUE SPEAKEASIES I'VE BEEN TO.
Lots of places like to do the novelty speakeasy vibes which I also adore, but this truly felt like an actual speakeasy paired artisinally well with an Omakase experience. If I could give this place 10/5 stars I would. As someone who loves both of these concepts, I could not dream of anything better. John the owner, bartender, and chef absolutely blew me away. The pairings are incredibly creative, unique, and well thought out. I also cannot believe he made everything there. I won't spoil the pairing details because I think it's something you just HAVE to go to yourself to understand. Warning, this one of a kind experience is not for lightweights. The course was 10-12 servings of a mini cocktail/shot + tasting bite. However, despite having this, I had zero hangover the next day. Why? My theory is the alcohol was so clean and high quality that all I felt was very mild dehydration but no headache etc. P.S. you absolutely must have a reservation. Don't even think about trying to do a walk-in. You will 100% be turned away. CASH ONLY Vibe: intimateDress: business casual Parking: limited, but highly recommended to ride shareVegan and gluten substitutes available

I love F&Bar! It's such a unique experience and at such a good cost. John is a one man show and sometimes he has someone else running the show but if you love cocktails you must check out this spot. Also Elliot's review is for the WRONG place. There's no host - it only 8 seats and by reservation only. You can't just walk-in here. It's approx $150/160 pp with tip, which is what you should leave minimum. You can add on additional items.

Such a cool experience, had 12 tastings all paired with alcohol, mostly cocktail shots. There were so many ingredients I've never tried let alone even heard of. Alcohol tastings were very unique and delicious. Menu changes seasonally. They are able to accommodate pescetarien diets, but notify in advance. $100 cash only, i think they accept Venmo also, excluding tips and $25 online reservation deposit. If you get confused like we did, if you're coming off the freeway, it's on the corner of larga and Glendale, there's a public 2 hr feee parking in back, it's in the second white building from the corner, access from the back. You will see a G Sun logo from inside the bar entrance on the second floor, if you see that, you know you're in the right place. Gate will be locked, host will let you in at reservation time. Also, there was a completely different menu you can order from after your meal for additional tastings for $10Everything was good, Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible bar.
Approached by a rude woman by the name of Kayla who greeted us. She seemed nice at first, but did a complete 180. You deserve to be fired or if you're the owner, you need to change your attitude. Makes sense why your bar is empty & club tee gee is poppin'. We came here for drinks after club tee gee. We went to the back to use the restrooms for like 5 minutes and because some of our friends were taking pictures sitting on the couch right outside the restroom, this rude woman.. Kayla straight up kicked us out. "This is not a photobooth, you need to leave". I asked her what her problem was, she says: "you're too intoxicated, you need to leave". Mind you, we were NOT too intoxicated, in fact.. I asked her a question. "Do you see us tumbling on the ground?" extremely rude. First time customers and this is how you treat us? guess what, NO ONE will come to your bar with that kind of attitude. Place was dead anyway. Good luck running this business. You need to change your attitude. Extremely rude. I'll never return. Avoid this place. That woman is toxic.

Had the pleasure of experiencing a one of a kind foodie experience with a work colleague last week. Getting a reservation for the 8 seat counter omakase was a bitch, I admit. Had an opening a month and a half in advance that I grabbed online. But the whole experience was well worth the wait. The food samples, the accompanying cocktails and the stories behind each one of the dishes and the stories about the building and the chef kept me smiling the whole evening. Willing to do this again every season when the menu changes.
Be the first to ReplyUnique experience worth trying.
I don't want to reveal too much because part of the fun is not knowing what to expect.

Randomly saw a foodie video from IG, super looking forward to making reservations at F&Bar. Reservations only available for the current & next month, with a maximum of 8 people per time slot - $125/person (each person will need to pay $25 first for reservation and pay $100 in cash later, BUT of course if you like their food, drinks, service, you can also tip extra!), if you want to book for Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the price will be higher (different menu). It is very suitable for celebrating special occasions. A group of 8 friends will be perfect, and the atmosphere is super good! When I first arrived at the location, I couldn't find the location. There was a contact number in the confirmation email. If you couldn't find it, you send a text message. Basically, you need to enter through the parking lot (behind the building), and it was on the second floor, so hard to recognize! Each dish is a kind of food + a small cocktail, and each dish is super amazing! Super admire their creation of the food & cocktail combination ! There are many unexpected flavors waiting for you to explore! Super looking forward to going again!
