Food was overall really good, but kabobs came out room temp.
Definitely get the margarita!
Be the first to ReplyWow! What an amazing meal.
We went with our server's recommendations and they were all fabulous. I feel lucky we got in.

Great vibes in an intimate setting! Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and we were seated at the bar. I would definitely recommend making reservations! We got everything to share. The carrot borani and komaj bread were delicious. The citrus date and cabbage salad was a little too sweet and felt like a dessert. The butternut squash and feta was also hearty! Overall, the food had pretty filling proportions with a lot of spices and flavor!

My partner and I had a lovely dinner! We got to our reservation 15 mins early and were sat right away. The space is quite large with chill and casual vibes, service was friendly and swift, and the dishes were all beautiful, unique and tasty. We ordered the following: - Cucumber Mint mocktail. Refreshing and light. - Komaj & Barbari bread with Mast o Musir. Loved the freshness and smoothness of the dip. The komaj bread was soft and slightly sweet, while the barbari was more savory (our preference). - Lamb Ribs. So delicious - one of our favorite dishes of the night! The barberry and chili topping was a perfect contrast to the fatty lamb. - Kabob Koobideh. The kabob was so tender and flavorful - one of the best I've had. The tomato butter was interesting as well. - Scallop Kabob Ghalieh Mahi. Scallops were HUGE and seared perfectly. We also enjoyed the trout roe. Unfortunately the squid ink tamarind sauce was slightly too tart for our palette. - Gheymeh Bademjan. This dish was so cozy. The lamb tasted like it had been stewed for hours and the eggplant soaked up all the flavors. The rice was a perfect pair. The preserved lemon was too tart for us so we ended up scooping it off. - Saffron Ice Cream Sandwich. Tasted just like a Karachi biscuit. Overall, 100% worth a visit! I've noticed they change their menu quite frequently so I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!
Be the first to ReplyCame here on NYE.
The service was exceptional, everyone from the host to the waitress. The star of the show was the lamb appetizer... amazing!! We ordered the labneh and the bread, so rich. Also got lamb entree which was good as well.

I rarely write reviews anymore, but just got home from dinner here and had to write a quick one. As an Iranian who grew up in California, I was exposed to a lot of great Persian restaurants. But they were all somewhat similar. While so many of them have been great, nothing was ever truly unique, as it's a very challenging cuisine to modify outside of the norms. I've had some good Iranian food during my 10 years living in NYC, but nothing that really blew me away.. Until this. Very unique and eclectic but still holds all of the traditional elements. I took my dad, who was visiting me for the weekend. He said it was the best Persian food he's had since living in Iran. Never seen him so happy during a meal. I assume everything on the menu that I didn't try is fantastic. But I HIGHLY recommend the ribs, the tahdig, kashke bademjan (eggplant) along with barbari bread (all are musts). From there we tried the ghormeh sabzi, which was the best I've ever had. The koobideh was incredible as well. I can't wait to get back and try the other mains, as i assume those will be killer as well. Cocktails are awesome as well. Can't wait to go back,

SOOO GOOD!! The food was so fantastic and the restaurant was very well designed. I also tried one of their non-alcoholic drinks and was extremely pleased. Highly recommend. The service was great as well and was super helpful when it came to my food allergy.
Be the first to ReplyOur family had a fabulous, celebratory meal here.
The server welcomed us and suggested for our party of 5 adults we order a number of dishes to share. We ordered: the komaj and barbari breads (I didn't have these but they looked great) which came along with Mushroom Borani (very yummy), Butternut Squash & Feta (we want to try to make something like this at home as it was a warm winter option), Lentil & Herbs with trumpet mushrooms (I love mushrooms so this was a fun treat), Sambuseh (I didn't have but someone said it was their favorite), Kabob Koobideh (we all wished we ordered more), Tahdig (tasty!), Half Chicken Fesenjoon (good though not my favorite), Gheymeh Bademjan (great sauce), tea and desserts! The dishes arrived at the table with an explanation of what they each were and didn't all come at once which was nice as we got a chance to enjoy each individually. The restaurant was busy and not huge - so it was a bit loud though we were all so focused on the food it didn't bother us too much. In sum, all of us greatly appreciated the food and hope to return!

Honestly this was my first time dining at a Persian restaurant and I was shocked by the usage of sesame, herbs, textures, and the combinations of salty and sweet. The flavors were all so different to me and I really enjoyed dining here. Everyone was friendly and service was perfectly timed. The spot is cozy and comfortable and works well if you have a big group or need a new place for date night! +breads (def get)+yogurt w shallot (rly yum)+whipped feta (def get)+lamb ribs (an absolute must!!!)+kabob w tomato butter+duck and date (honestly I rly liked this. It's not for everyone but it's a very interesting dish that deserves a try)+eggplant (our group didn't enjoy this but I know others like it)+potato (the worst lol)+custard w pistachios and cherry (rly yum)+saffron ice cream w semolina cake (rly yum)*note: also got the salad but wasn't super necessary imo

My dinner at Eyval was one of the best meals I've had in quite some time. Delicious food with unique flavors (not enough Persian/Iranian options in this city!), attentive and informative but not overbearing service (they definitely informed us about dishes and answered questions, but they weren't trying overly hard to "educate" the diner, which was nice), and chill, low-key ambience. We had the yogurt dip with shallots and turmeric oil (I didn't realize yogurt could be this special -- it was transcendent) with homemade bread, a dish with octopus and beans, a lamb-beef kebab, and an incredible dish of fried lamb ribs (order these), and scallops with fenugreek and squid ink, along with tahdig. Too full for dessert, we had some excellent tea. Also - the cocktails have really interesting flavors like orange blossom water and dried lime crushed into powder. It all slaps.

I saw how difficult it was to get a reservation at Eyval, so I knew there had to be a good reason and I was eager to try it.My friend and I got a 7:30pm reservation on a Tuesday and the restaurant was pretty full on a cold February night. We did arrive closer to 7 and there was a table available, we were able to get seated right away! From the hostess to our waiter, Kaiden we were treated to excellent service the whole night. It was our first time having Persian food so we were eager to hear a few recommendations and were definitely pointed in the right direction. We were hungry and wanted leftovers so we went crazy with ordering: Komaj Bread, turmeric, cumin 5Barbari Bread, nigella, sesame 6Mushroom Borani, strained yogurt, herbs, garlic 14Green Tahini Salad, medjool dates, romaine, radicchio, orange, pear, sesame seed 15Kabob Koobideh, ground beef & lamb brisket, tomato butter, saffron rice 17Potato Tahdig, sour plum sauce 10We also split a delicious bottle of prosecco that was reasonably priced in 2023 dollars - at $44 a bottle. Let's say - you can make this an affordable night - or a pretty expensive one!In terms of the food the two breads were excellent and paired nicely with the Mushroom Borani yogurt dish. I loved the green tahini salad, though it is heavy on the sesame so if you don't prefer that flavor you may want to steer clear. The Kabob Koobideh had excellent rice with a delicious lamb/beef kabob atop. The potato tahdig had a flavorful plum sauce and was perfectly crispy. We were way too full for dessert and I'm disappointed I didn't try something.I highly recommend Eyval for an elevated dining experience off the Morgan L stop. I can't wait to return to try more dishes and the cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is so good.
it's pretty hard to get a reservation on the weekend. I was able to get a 915pm after putting an alert on Resy otherwise nothing was available. The bread and yogurt were amazing. The tahini salad was so good really recommend all three of those dishes. They were my favorite, I also got, one of the nonalcoholic elixirs, which were really tasty and I also ordered the lamb ribs and the duck. both were really good but very rich and not spicy. The tahini salad was surprisingly a bit spicy but not too bad. the food took a little while to come, but nothing too slow. those four dishes were enough to fill two people up. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the dessert this time because I was so full.

I was apprehensive about coming here after having had an abysmal service experience (and apparently I'm not alone in that) at Sofreh, but I'm pleased to report that the servers and front-of-house staff were pleasant and attentive, even though they were very busy. The food & cocktails were excellent. I especially liked the broccoli rabe borani, the octopus kabob, and the short rib with barberries.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely EXCELLENT meal.
I grew up eating persian food my whole life and was skeptical it could be better than my moms home cooking but WOW. I was so pleasantly surprised. The lab/beef koobideh and gormeh sabzi are absolute must orders. My favorite dishes of the night but really everything was delicious. Very cool decor as well

Eyval has been busy, quite busy, since opening (spin off?) from Sofreh in March 2022. The concept is regional Iranian cooking with much of the menu focused on grill and open fire cooking. The flavors are delicate with saffron, orange blossom, sour cherry, plums , dates, sumac, etc predominantly features in multiple dishes and cocktails. Old fashioned is with date, saffron martini is served with pickled grapes. Both delicious. We ordered a cross section of the menu. Stand outs were Komaj Bread, turmeric, cumin 5, Barbari Bread, nigella, sesame 6, Sweet & Spicy Cucumber, persian cucumbers, date molasses, chili, urfa pepper & nigella seeds 9 Lamb Ribs, tamarind-date glaze, walnuts, barberries 20Eggplant & Cured Yogurt "Kashke Bademjan", mint oil, fried onions, garlic chips, walnuts 18Potato Tahdig, sour plum sauce 10Lamb Rack "Shishlik", cumin yogurt, preserved herbs, basmati rice 42Hanger steak Strained yogurt was addicting and I'm not typically yoghurt lover. Similar to Labne but not as tart. Also loved fresh baked breads that we dipped into everything. Lamb was superb and 4 generous pieces were great for our group of 4 guys. We also loved the charred eggplant and generous tahini over it. Again more dipping and again that yogurt. Hanger steak was good but was a touch overdone and needed salt. Tahdig was good but not great. Nitpicking larger pot format vs potato hash in a small skillet preparation . Saffron dessert ice cream was great palate cleanser !! Definitely will be back!!
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant I've eaten at this year.
The vibes were perfect. The food and drinks were out of this world. Only slight complaint is the octopus was a bit chewy but the flavor made up for it. The lamb chops were some of the best I've ever had. Would 10/10 recommend!!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and ambiance.
Staff was knowledgeable and did a great job of guiding us throughout our meal. All the appetizers were amazing and the veal entree was a standout. Would jump at an opportunity to come back.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive and pretentious.
Vegetarian options weren't exactly mind-blowing; we're talking yogurt with fava beans and olive oil. Also, no prices on the menu. That should be illegal.
Be the first to ReplyConflicted about how to feel about this spot.
My friends and I have been seeing this place multiple times on Tiktok and figured we'd give it a go. Being Iranian ourselves we had high expectations especially since we have favorite spots like Sofreh and Ravagh. We made a reservation in advance for a Sunday evening - and yes they do require a credit card to hold the reservation. When we arrived we were seated right away. *Plan to arrive early as its only street parking and during peak time in Williamsburg that can delay you* The restaurant was packed and buzzing. As a group of 6 we ordered lots of different things to try everything. For appetizers we ordered bread, Shiraz salad, whipped feta dip and the eggplant bademjan. The appetizers were my favorite. Deliciously seasoned, the perfect portion and beautiful presentation. The mains were disappointing. I ordered the chicken with zeresht polo. The rice had NO flavor and it was cold. I felt like I was eating bland rice. The chicken was OK, cold as well and not as flavorful as some of the appetizers. For desserts the saffron ice cream was delicious and made me forget all about my main entree issue. The food was good, the prices were expensive, and the ice cream was the star of the show. The only reason I did not give this a 3 was because the staff was very attentive and accommodating. Someone in our party had a nut allergy and they went above and beyond to ensure no cross contamination.
