Friendly place, good food, nice atmosphere...
As you might guess, it's an Argentinian joint, and one that delivers at that. Great empanadas, equally good alfajores, and other fun "classic" Argentinian stuff (provoleta!). That said, pretty much everything on the menu delivers - it's all really good, and when you add in the vibes (friendly staff, chill atmosphere), well, it's the kinda place you probably add to your standard rotation...

Very cute speak-easy that you literally have to buzz into from the back and under the Buenos Aries Cafe. Bartender was really cool and made us some great drinks. Lots of old-school hard, sofa chairs, small tables, candle light, and a short ceiling--intimate for sure. I'll be back...drinks are pricey, but well-crafted...food looks to die for and os on the cheaper side, so it all plays out well.
Be the first to ReplySad update on a favorite Austin Restaurant
I was on a mission: there are but two really chocolate deserts in Austin and one is the chocolate creme brûlée at Cafe Buenos Aries. As a small town foodie, I have planned my trips around a visit there. Today I was pressed for time, so I felt very lucky to be able to zip in and get brûlée to go. As I climbed up the steep side of the building it appeared there was a new outer decor one piece had a filthy crude word.—walking in I wondered if I had gone into the wrong place. We he beautiful glass lights that hung over the tables with a warm glow in the evenings were pulled out, Some freakishly big lighting albeit less of it, strewn in its place. The baked goods and dessert case moved from beyond the bar seemed less abundant and more touched and picked over. The whole environment, formerly warm, and inviting seemed tired to the wake extent that I inquired if it was under new ownership. But knowing there is another location in the made over Bee Caves area helped me to know they were still in business. So I placed my essential to go order, and was told they not only did not have my beloved dessert, but they would not be having it again. But I could get it at the other location. It seems like this location is dying of neglect. I strongly urge management to re up their dedication to this locale. One sign would be return of the Chocolate Creme Brûlée

My fault for giving the second location another shot. They have a location in the Galleria and it isn't worth your time or money. My husband had an event here and I told him I would meet him there for dinner. This place is worst than the Galleria location. Service was rude. Prices are high for what you get and for the type of place it is. Additionally, you have to pay for parking at this location. Food is passable but not worth what you are paying for it. I will not be back. Go elsewhere, learn from my dumb mistake.

I went to lunch with my daughter. Had a salad and empanadas. Both delicious. The apple tart would have been better served warm but it looked beautiful. Our waiter was friendly, professional and efficient. Tried the crepe at dinner. It was filling but a little bit boring. Spinach cheese in an herb crepe with bechamel. The food is pretty good. The waitress was a little bit distracted. I tried the caiperina but I could feel powdered sugar on my tongue. I prefer simple syrup or crushed sugar cubes because powdered sugar frequently has corn starch in it which is weird in a drink. I would go back again. The atmosphere is nice. I wasn't wowed but I was satisfied and comfortable.

We were out running around on our visit to Austin. We were in the area & wanted a snack. We had some empanadas. Pollo & verdura. Both very good. It was busy for an off time in afternoon. fun little place. Prices are ok.

Cool little spot on east 6th. Traditional vibes with the place and the staff. On busy nights, Thurs-Sat, go earlier because they run of popular dishes and drinks. Lastly, hit up the downstairs speakeasy for a drink Apps: Lamb Skewers: served with a light yogurt sauce. Decent, but need to be cooked more like medium-medium rare - 6.5/10 House Fries: These are solid, and come with a really good aioli dip. You need to ask for extra salt - 7/10 Empanadas: Get the large chimichurri dip for all of these Carne Picante: Spicy Beef - 7.3/10 Carne Suave: Mild Beef - 7/10 Pollo: Chicken and peppers - 7/10 Vendura: spinach and ricotta - 6/10 Entrée: Pot Roast: Braised lamb with mash potatoes, and carrots. Really rich and flavorful, so it’s super filling. This is a seasonal dish I believe - 7/10 Dessert: Alfajor de Chocolate: Didn’t really enjoy this. It’s crunchy and isn’t very sweet - 5/10 Overall: 6.8/10 Follow me on Instagram @ahmadeats for all the food and attractions

We saw this restaurant and wanted to rekindle our wonderful memories of our Argentina trip a few years ago, I really missed a good empanada. So we gave it a go, hoping it will not disappoint. We were so happy we ate lunch there, the food was so delicious and good size. Will definitely come back again when I crave for Argentinian food.

We decided to try this restaurant out for lunch. Ordered the Spinach salad (apples, pecans, feta cheese, & sweet balsamic vinaigrette, yum!) and a side of one Pollo roasted chicken empanada. Empanada was pretty good! Hydrated with H2O (Coke cans super pricey). My friends had entrees: Pollo a la Parilla (chicken breast) and Churrasquito (6oz angus beef). We had good customer service, our waiter was attentive. There was a bar but we did not order alcoholic drinks. I'd return again, East 6th street location.

Unless you are craving cold food and bad service, skip this place. Went early afternoon. Slow time for them. No recuse for the bad service. Iced tea without the ice too. No bueno.
