Meh. The food is decent but not worth the insane price tag
Meh. The food is decent but not worth the insane price tag IMO. You can get far better sushi for better portions, price and service elsewhere. It was a decent dinner but I wouldn't go back.Cod: heard great things about it on Yelp but I'd give it a 3 out of 5. It was literally just a piece of cod with nothing else. At least serve it with rice or something.Sushi rolls: good, but $25 for a roll? Are there sprinkles of gold in them?Eggplant: this was prob my fav dish. Unique flavors & well cooked.Ichigo daifuku (dessert): what a joke. It sounded really interesting but it was basically 2 strawberries cut up into 4 pieces with a thin layer of "mochi" on top and a side of red bean. Just no.Oh and as soon as we put our spoons down for dessert, the waiter brought our check 0.2 seconds later. Honestly, this place is such a hype. Everything is just meh. I'd much rather go to a hole in the wall Japanese restaurant that's more authentic.Pass.
Be the first to ReplyHad the Kaiseki tasting menus.
Was it good? Yes. For the price? No. For a $$$$ place, I expected more, but it was ultimately underwhelming.
Be the first to ReplyI came here because it was shown on bling empire.
Overall the food the decent but it was too expensive for what we got. I would pass on this Japanese restaurant for something more authentic and of good value+quality.
Be the first to ReplyI had a fantastic 6th anniversary date with my husband here.
We had the tasting menu with sake pairings and it was really delicious and memorable (see pics yum). The service was fantastic and the ambience was spacious, beautiful and cool. This place can be pricey but I think it's worth trying at least once if you love Japanese food and are open to trying new things.
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming here for five years.
Great staff and service. Their dinner omakase and weekend brunch menu is remarkable!
Be the first to ReplyI've been eating at En Japanese Brasserie with some
I've been eating at En Japanese Brasserie with some regularity since it's opening in 2004. I had the pleasure of dining there last night, my first visit post Covid restrictions, etc., and I was not disappointed; the meal was delicious. I will say this, however: (1) before the lockdown, etc., En used to be a somewhat "high-end" establishment; a place where you would "dress" for the dinner you were about to spend a fair amount of money to enjoy. This is no longer the case, with the clientele's clothing looking as if most had stepped out of the gym and headed straight to dinner. It was very un-NY and a bit dismaying. And, (2), some of my favorite dishes have been noticeably shrunken, in particular the shrimp fritters and the Agedashe dofu . I dn't know whether this is due to inflation, greed, or a combination fo the two, but it was kind of sad. I also think it's time for the restaurant to update there decor, in particular, the very used tile floor which kind of makes one feel as if they are eating the food court of a bygone mall.
Be the first to ReplyMy niece and I were there about two weeks ago.
Beautiful place, fancy menu, other than that I wasn't impressed. We ordered 7 pieces sashimi, 8 oz wagyu beef and uni ikura don. I had to remove strings from some sashimi pieces. Uni ikura don was a disaster. For the price they charged we hardly saw uni in the container and the rice was HARD. It tasted like some hard rice from the bottom of rice cooker. So disappointing! The only good thing was the wagyu beef. It was tender, flavorful and the way it should be for a $150 item. Lastly the drinks: nothing worth mentioning about. They were nothing particular Two of us paid $300 for the dinner. I will not go back.

Very delicious dishes at @enjapanesebrasserie with fresh ingredients according to the season. The black cod was outstanding - saikyo yaki is always my favorite when it comes to grilled fish, and they've really done a great job in retaining the juicy texture and the buttery flavor of the fish!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time to try the Vegetarian omakase, but is overpriced
First time to try the Vegetarian omakase, but is overpriced and the service was not match with the price, the waiter's tone is not very friendly. But the food is not bad, very bland, this recipe and cooking method is great for vegan and those on a diet. And other problems is the dishes wasn't clean(pic 2)

Super trendy new Japanese place, very nice creative flavors but a bit overpriced and service a bit slow too.Un nuevo lugar japonés muy moderno, con sabores creativos muy ricos, pero un poco caro y el servicio un poco lento también.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent bento box with fish cod, chicken katsu, and rice.
Mushroom salad wasn't too much of a highlight, but the fish cod was to die for.For $29, definitely a bargain, given the portions. Plenty of seating on the weekend for lunch, and the restaurant overall felt quite upscale. Will be hosting a work event and birthday party here in the near future.
Be the first to ReplyReturned for dinner and had an awesome experience.
This is definitely one of my favorite Japanese spots in the city. This time, my boyfriend and I ordered:+ Umeshu sour cocktail + Ginger cocktail+ Seppun cocktail + Saikyo miso Black cod+ 9 piece sashimi+ Snow crab tempura and avocado roll+ Kaisen don+ Hotaru iku (firefly squids) special+ Chef's special Japanese cookies The best cocktail was the umeshu sour; as for the food, the black cod is still the highlight. The firefly squids were also amazing! Finally, the salmon in the kaisen don was sooo good. Great service, too.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.
The cod was light yet rich and it is a generous serving unlike other places. The wagyu is also fantastic. Also had the tofu avocado roll, shishito peppers, and the watercress salad. My only complaint was the service was very slow.

4.5 stars. Sublime and divine, from the food to the service and even the flatware. Stunning decor. Who would've thought that something as banal as bamboo shoots would render us speechless? Run, don't walk, to here and remind yourself why you chose to live in NYC.

The brunch bento options are really worth it! My mom and I shared the miso black cod bento, steak & eggs, truffle chawanmushi and duck croquette and we definitely left filling 110% of our stomach lol. The two a la carts items are delicious but will probably skip next time. Steak & eggs is bomb if you are a steak person. The bento box is a must get!
Be the first to ReplyLove the ambience of this restaurant.
It's so spacious and beautiful inside. I love sitting at the bar seating so you can see the chefs at work. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, but my favorites have been the crispy fried chicken, kaisen don (sashmi over rice), age dashi tofu (the dashi is so flavorful), and the spicy chutoro roll (my fav). The dessert was just ok. The matcha panna cotta was a bit flavorless but the chocolate gelato was tasty!
Be the first to ReplyWill try to keep our memorable night brief.
Food is absolutely some of the very best in the city, fish only competes with Sushi Zo. All of the dishes we ordered were just beyond - wagyu hot pot, yuzu carpaccio, miso cod, tuna and avocado, and just about every sushi roll. The only downside of the night is that they were out of the beloved homemade tofu. Service impeccable, we were joking around with our waiter all night having such a great time- at the same time everyone is so professional. It's our 4th or 5th time here and it just keeps getting better. You are the very best at what you do, EN!
Be the first to ReplyFood 5/5Got the set lunch menu with the miso cod.
The set came with rice, salad, miso soup, and some small dishes. Everything was very delicious, and the miso cod was very tender, with the flavor definitely going through. Service 4/5Good.Interior 5/5Gorgeous interior space, with a lovely bar/lounge area at the entrance. We came for lunch, but I'm sure it gets very fun at night. The dining area was huge and the natural light hit very well. Very cool nature elements were incorporated into the design. Spacious atmosphere. I just wished the price was less expensive, the sole reason I'm lowering a star.
Be the first to ReplyI have been to a lot of restaurants in New York and EN is
I have been to a lot of restaurants in New York and EN is by far the most memorable and exquisite dining experience I have ever had. Honestly, I am surprised this restaurant is not sceney or overrun with reservations because entering the space for dinner took my breath away. The ambience is a mix of a Japanese whiskey bar and cozy library. It has the comfort of entering someone's well-designed living room while also being enveloped in classic jazz music.Besides the lovely ambience and attentive service, I also found the food unique and satisfying. Between my friend and I, we ordered a sushi roll, the steamed vegetables, and a duck meat fried mochi balls. We also split green tea between the two of us even though there was an extensive alcohol list. I highly recommend this place to anyone for a date night, a meal to catch up or just a space to relax. I look forward to the next time I can pay EN a visit.
Be the first to ReplyReserved 2 seats rather late (2 days before) and didn't
Reserved 2 seats rather late (2 days before) and didn't know what to expect. The ingredients are incredibly fresh and high quality. That being said, I wasn't wowed by anything in particular (aside from the sashimi) and the execution never felt perfect on any one of the dishes. We ordered the tasting menu. The ingredients were obviously incredibly fresh and we had the opportunity to try the A5 Wagyu beef for the first time. We started with the some small dish appetizers, which consisted of marinated/pickled but largely uncooked dishes. It was a great way to start the meal. This was followed up by their famous tofu - I was slightly underwhelmed. It was good, but nothing that would justify its price in my opinion. Afterwards were several slices of sashimi- some of the best sashimi I've had, especially the slice of tuna. Main dishes included a lobster with truffle and A5 Wagyu beef slices in a broth. Lobster was cold and texture was slightly off. The A5 Wagyu beef was fantastic and melted in your mouth - although I felt like the preparation in the broth detracted from the meat rather than enhanced it. All in all, for ~180/pp (incl tip + tax), the ingredient quality and are on par with what'd you expect, but I was slightly disappointed by the execution on the dishes. For that price, you could find better fine dining establishments in the city.
Be the first to ReplyThis space is gorgeous.
The food was good too. Came at 11;30am with a reservation and was seated at the center bar. They spaced everyone out as they came in. Had the fried chicken, soba noodles, and sashimi. Sashimi cut a lil thick for my liking. I seem to be the only person who likes hot sake in NY because everyone has to ask if they even have it.
Be the first to ReplyMade reservations here for my trip to NY.
Came highly recommended from a relative who took her parents here to meet her now husband's parents. I've heard a lot of good things about this restaurant so had high expectations. The interior looks gorgeous with the high ceilings and modern design. The service was pretty good but when it came down to the food, it was ok. The cooked food came out warm, not hot. The freshly made tofu that they're known for was more water than tofu. I like the soft texture and the taste of tofu but I felt like I was drinking tofu water. The vegetable tempura was definitely not the cheap tempura they get at the stores and was pretty good. Would prefer the tempura itself to be a bit lighter but still better than most. The fish was definitely very fresh and their maguro really reminded me of my visit in Japan at the Tsukiji Fish Market when I had their fresh tuna caught that morning. Other than the fish, everything was ok. OVERALLTheir sushi was definitely fresh and very good. I think their cooked food could definitely do a lot better. Since we ordered a good mix of cooked food and raw fish, I gave it 3 stars. I definitely expected more from such a high-end restaurant in terms of food. In regards to ambiance, service, & cleanliness it definitely met the standards. For the price, I definitely expect better.
Be the first to ReplyEN will forever hold a special place in my heart as I came
EN will forever hold a special place in my heart as I came here for dinner right after my fiancé proposed to me! It was so lovely that they have the traditional Japanese private rooms available (where you take off your shoes and everything). They let my fiancé and friends decorate it with pictures and ballon to surprise me that night! The food is also phenomenal. We got a bunch of dishes to share like the karage fried chicken, scallops, salad, and tofu. For my own dish I got the chirashi bowl and my fiancé got the duck soba. All the dishes were top notch quality and generous portions. The karage is probably the best and juiciest that I've had in the city. The one downside were the hefty prices for the corkage fee and fee to cut a slice of cake brought in from outside.
