Went here for date night and was thoroughly impressed.
We had reservations (which I highly recommend) at 8:15pm. We got there early and sat at the bar and had drinks before being seated. We were seated at the kitchen table which wasn't too bad. It can get a little warm due to the grills, but overall I enjoyed dining there. The hostess even lit candles to set a romantic vibe (lol). We indulged in appetizers and main courses. The food was delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. We enjoyed scallops, an empanada, bone marrow, and a steak dinner. Everything was so filling that there wasn't any room for dessert. The appetizers we shared and each got our own entree. We had leftovers because each dish was just that filling. Highly recommend this steakhouse if you're a steak or seafood lover. Everything was great from the meals to the customer service. I have to say that our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Even the chefs checked in with us to see how we were enjoying our meals :)

We dined at El Che for my partners birthday and thank goodness we had a reservations because it was packed. The night started off a little wonky, we were seated almost immediately however it took forever for a server to help us. Our water glasses were filled twice and we had to ask to get a server since nobody was taking our order. Anycase after asking for service we had a great waiter who was very informative and made some great suggestions! We ordered some cocktails to start off with- a Manhattan & caipirinha. Both drinks were cute and tasty. For apps we ordered the grilled oysters & truffle empanada- with the oysters they add bacon & the (bacon) taste was very overwhelming still tasty tho. The Truffle empanada stole the show! We were super impressed by the flavors, it was Creamy and just enough of the Truffle flavor. We were super indecisive about our mains but our waiter made a great suggestion to get half of the shellfish parrillada and add steak to it- it was great! They do a little 'show' when they bring the parrillada which we enjoyed. Everything about this meal was spot on- the super tasty seafood, tender steak w fries topped with a Creamy garlic buttery sauce was everything! Would 100% recommend! We were too stuffed to even order dessert but since it was my partners bday they brought out a sundae which we enjoyed. We had a wonderful time at El Che and will be back! *our bill came to about $330 (including tip) **parking is a bit hard in this area, we had to circle around a couple of times and then got lucky

This was my birthday dinner, we were racking our brains trying to figure out where to go. The mar de plata was what sold us. It was delicious, fresh and mouth watering. The lobster butter was the icing on the cake. We literally had everything we had dropping in the lobster butter. With 4 pieces of everything (shrimp, half lobster tails, scallops and grilled oysters) it was filling. My partner isn't a fan of raw oysters but absolutely loved these grilled oysters. The service at El che is above par. From the hostess to our server to the table helpers/bus boys. So kind, helpful and extremely attentive. Seating isn't spacious, you're really close to whomever you're near and it gets really loud but, expected for a downtown restaurant that I'm sure gets several reservations. I would absolutely come back again, it was well worth it.
Be the first to ReplyEl Che's service moves like a well oiled machine.
The staff is extremely attentive; I observed how quickly they move and I appreciate it. For my birthday weekend, I had a 5 o'clock reservation- I'm not sure if you HAVE to have a res but I'd recommend it. My server was wonderful, had great suggestions. My app was the Italian beef empanada..I would go back just for that and the sauce choices that came with it were elite. Main, I had 8oz filet with a side of broccolini.... as tasty as the filet was, the broccolini was thee star of the show, for me. I can't describe the flavor profile but it was a damn good time. They tried to force macaroons on me since it was my bday, which was so gracious, but since I'm not the biggest fan of macaroons, I gifted it to my lyft driver. This is a higher priced menu so be ready to drop some money. Great for a date night, after a meeting or double date. Seating is great but the place does fill up quickly so again, recommend to make a reservation. There's a parking garage right across but it doesn't seem big, street parking is also avail but you'll likely need spot hero.

Service was amazing. Food was ok. I had the roasted oysters that was over powered with seasoned onion chips. But with a side of the roasted potatoes that were fantastic. Tried a piece of steak and it was delicious. I also had 2 drinks one was water down with juice and the other was amazing. I would have gave 5 stars but upon leaving signing the check the sever came over to the table to grab the check and was handed a cash tip. He then waved it off saying that's ok me assuming that wasn't enough for him. The other guest at the table had told him we we're also tipping on the card. He said okay and walked away. After that he had a attitude until we left. Great restaurant but that sever needs a conversation held!
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance, exceptional service and outstanding food.
The prawns were hands down my favorite - expertly cooked and soooo flavorful, the steak was absolutely delicious too!
Be the first to ReplyI was excited to try this place after seeing the chef on
I was excited to try this place after seeing the chef on tv, & I thought his fish preparation looked enticing. My husband loves steak so he had also mentioned a few times. Sadly, our experience here was a pretty bad one. We went last summer & sat outside. Service took a while. My husband actually ordered the premium $45 margarita (because he refuses to wear reading glasses). When I told him as the waiter left, he followed the waiter to change his order right away before it was entered. So then, how did someone still bring him the drink?? As for food we started with the endive salad which was ok. A bit too smothered in dressing. My husband had the filet with dada sauce & didn't care too much for the sauce. My salmon, however, was terrible. It was pretty much inedible. I honestly wondered if they messed with it as they were upset about the drink. The chef actually came & stood outside for a bit leaning against the wall...I was wondering why he felt the need to watch me try to eat this tainted fish. I ended up filling up on the carrots instead since I couldn't eat this. In the end, not just bad food, but bad wine, bad service, & what appeared to be unethical standards.

Be the first to ReplyAmbience 10/10.
Service was 10/10. Food was 8.5 out of ten. I also needed to order and try more things other than salad, octopus and splitting a steak. If I'm in the neighborhood I will be back. I would recommend El Che to my friends and family.
Be the first to ReplyWhere do I begin.
.. Well, to be fair clearly they are doing something right because they've been open for a long time. I think it's awesome that they take food allergies so seriously. When you walk in the place is lively. A nice ambiance. Our waiter was very nice. The menu is interesting. I didn't understand the layout. Are all the appetizers at the top half? But then you have some in the middle...is it a new take on tapas...I'm still not sure. I guess I should have done more research before coming. The menu is also small and the focus is steak. I wish there were more options. I think that's the mistake I made. I ordered the scallops when I should have ordered a Steak. The scallops lacked flavor. They sat on a pile of something puréed with a mound of diced apple in the middle with onion decoration on the side and some type of hard chip. The textures were all over the place but there was just no flavor. They needed to add something to cut the sweetness of the apples or balance it out. The wedge Salad was not a normal wedge. Never have I had it with romaine served with a MOUND of crunchy...whatever that was. They left butterfly shrimp with the heads on. So strange. I love shrimp with the heads on....but this was just...different and flavorless. The drinks we ordered weren't made correctly, so we sent them back. The Wine menu is so big that it actually says "Table of Contents", so I'm guessing that's what I should have ordered. I think the worst part was the busboys. I mean they kept coming, asking if we were done. No matter what we said they would come again. I think they wanted us to hurry because they wanted the table, but MAN was it annoying. I didn't finish my food and finally, I said " just take it". The fries were made perfectly but they were too salty. I was over it. This place just wasn't for me. I ended up back at Bavettes for my dinner part two. All 4 dishes were over $100 without a tip. I didn't snap a photo of the shrimp. It was not worth it.

Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere was inviting, and the food was delicious.
My only issue is our waiter wasn't as friendly as I would have liked. This was our first time there, and we didn't know what to expect. I wish he would have explained the menu a little better.

Excellent Restaurant Week experience! Came solo and felt greeted and welcomed with warmth in the service and in the ambience. Loved the dimmed lighting and casual atmosphere. The whipped ricotta on warm toast was a nice opener. The steak frites were perfectly cooked medium rare. Even though the stew looked like a small serving, it's so dense and tasty that it filled me up more than I had anticipated. I wish the tres leches had a spongier texture--it was a bit too airy in my opinion--but I enjoyed the sweet coco-nuttiness. I'll have to return to try their regular menu.

One of the better Restaurant Week menus I've tried! We came here with a group for dinner and were lucky to get the large hearth table right next to the kitchen. It was so cool to see everything getting made. Between my SO and I, we were able to try everything on the Restaurant Week menu. The standout by far was the shrimp - I wish I could have had that for every course! Both the salmon and steak entrees were cooked perfectly and also very tasty. And of course, you can't go wrong with a tres leches cake. We had a great time and the service was excellent.

El Che curated one of the best restaurant week menus that I have tried this year! Everything from the empanada to the tres leches dessert was so delicious and flavorful. I absolutely loved the chimichurri sauce that came with the steak frites. The steak was so tender! I can't wait to go back and try more items from their menu. El Che definitely lived up to the hype!

We checked out El Che during restaurant week and it was a great experience. I would highly recommend the whipped ricotta and shrimp a la plancha. The steak was really good as well as the salmon. The one thing I found too salty was the guisado that came with the salmon. The dessert was rich and soooo delicious. Will definitely be going back to try more menu items since this place is super close to us! great service and trendy ambiance!
Be the first to ReplyGreat space, service and food.
Pricey for sure, but worth it for a splurge. Would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyI gave it a 3 because it's a steakhouse and even though it
I gave it a 3 because it's a steakhouse and even though it was restaurant week, the steak was the worst part of the meal. (I would even recommend going to Mariano's and cooking it yourself.) It was chewy. I'm sure the experience would be different if it were a different cut. The rest of the food was great though and service is very attentive. They even fixed a wobbling table. The music is on the louder side but you can still hear each other.Dessert was so fluffy and light. It was our favorite. Almost like a coconut and caramel version of tiramisu. Shrimp wasn't the usual garlic shrimp that most places serve--the sauces were creamy. And yes, the portions are smaller for restaurant week because it's a lot of food otherwise. The fries were crispy and salty.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and drinks were amazing.
Went for a work holiday party and I would def recommend to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyHad the shrimp, my strip, and fries.
The cocktails were one of a kind and tasty. All of it was amazing and our server Dante was incredible. Ambiance was cute and I loved all the plants/modern vibes! I'd def come back again. 10/10 all around
