Double Knot Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
Unfortunately my experience was not good.
Where to begin. For starters it was extremely dark which in itself is not necessarily bad; however not being able to read the items up for offer, bad, even with the assistance of my flashlight difficult. While i don:t often worry about price having some expectation beforehand reading it on the menu, well I couldn't. So the choices were somewhat limited in the sushi department with a few of my favorites missing. No worries good sushi trumps quantity. However of the 10 varieties ordered only two really met my expectations, otherwise tastings fell short. Furthermore, all offerings were tiny. I ended up paying $460 for me and my date, We were seated at very small round table facing the elevated bar and next to the doorway leading to the toilets. So as a result lots of commotion and the two of us on bench facing same direction, 3ft from bar patrons rears, And apart from a bottle of sake and afew draft beers I have no idea how the pricing to have hit such heights. But definitely not worth it. Even $200 would have been a stretch. Save your money. One good thing service was decent.
We were seated at the bar area which had a nice ambiance.
The bar looks nice as well. Tables were a little closer to each other, but otherwise doable. We did the tasting menu which is about 10/11 courses total. Plus we also ordered individual sushi (nagiri style). Our food came out fast, specially the smaller items and had a good time spacing for the larger meals. Plus our empty plates were cleared right away as well, service was definitely on point. The food was great, we had tons of favorites, few ones that we can eat all night long (hamachi carpaccio, Foie gras sushi, steak, lobster fried rice) and one that was just okay (scallop on the fish section was too salty). We also did a sake tasting flight which they had a good selection for.

Double Knot offers a unique dining experience that sets it apart from the rest. The ambiance is immediately captivating, with seating in the basement that creates an intimate, cozy vibe perfect for a special night out. The menu features a variety of small plates, each thoughtfully crafted and bursting with flavor. Among the standout dishes, the lobster fried rice is truly to die for, and the duck scrapple bao leaves a lasting impression with its rich taste and perfect texture. The attentive and friendly service makes for a memorable time. If you're looking for a dining adventure that combines exceptional food with a distinctive atmosphere, Double Knot is the place to be.
Had this on our must try list while in Philly.
We came for HH and it was delicious. The tautline hitch drink was delicious - tasted similar to a mule. The Japanese fried chicken was prob one of our favorites- it came with a tasty sauce and the chicken was perfectly fried. The boys enjoyed the chicken bao bun better than the pork. The chirashi was my favorite - I honestly wanted a second one. Oh and the kimchi fried rice was a huge hit at our table. The edamame dumplings were not my favorite but just my opinion. We could have literally tried everything on the HH menu - it was all delicious. You must come and try this place. The atmosphere inside is very cool as well.

Went here for happy hour after hearing it was one of the best in the city. Service was great, and food was decent.. We had the below sushi rolls which we ate very quickly (are they smaller on the hh menu?) then also an order of Brussels sprouts and pot stickers. Everything was fine but I don't see what the hype is about.

This place was a complete surprise! We ended up seated in the basement which was dark and cozy. My group got a selection of dishes and every single one was delicious. The lobster fried rice even impressed our non-adventurous food friend. Would definitely return to try more deliciousness!
We were visiting friends and they were very excited to take
We were visiting friends and they were very excited to take us to Double Knot (which I keep accidentally calling Top Knot.) They are a tapas style restaurant with a big menu of selections. Our friend made a reservation as soon as the date opened and we were all excited. When we arrived we were seated within 5 minutes of letting them know of our arrival. We were led downstairs in a VERY dark/almost dangerous stairwell to another seating area that also had more poorly lit stairs. I feel like the person seating guests should have flashlight or lantern (for the aesthetic) to guide people. It's way too dark! I'm in my 30's, I can't imagine someone older trying to navigate that route. Once seated our eyes adjusted a little but it was still hella dark. I get the ambiance but they could bump up the lighting a smidge and it would make the experience more pleasant. Aside from the low lighting, the place is decorated beautifully! It's definitely a vibe in there for sure. Our server greeted us and we ordered drinks. I got an espresso martini which was 5/10 on taste. It also didn't have espresso beans as a garnish which is a red flag IMO. Maybe they were just out? We debated doing the tasting menu but one of the people with us is pregnant so she would be limited on what she could eat. Since the entire table had to do it we decided to just order a variety of dishes. We ordered probably 12-15 dishes between the four of us. The food was AMAZING! Everything was superb wit the exception of the Pork Tonkatsu, it was pretty boring but everything else was *chefs kiss*. Just to give you an idea of some of the dishes we ordered: Pork Tonkatsu, Brussel Sprouts, wild mushroom gyoza, short rib (x3) robatayaki, Shishito peppers. We got another kind of dumpling that was very good as well. Our server was mediocre, we had to ask for things multiple times. We asked for sauce 3x before she finally brought it and didn't even apologize for forgetting. She did not seem very enthused to be there. Honestly, the food was the saving grace. I was kind of grumpy about the place but the food made up for the lighting and the iffy service. If the food hadn't been as good as it was I would have been upset about spending as much money as we did. TLDR; the food is worth it!
Great food, drinks, service and atmosphere.
I made a reservation and was seated downstairs. It was candle-lit. Service was great and food came out quickly. Our Waiter, Hazel, was fun, knowledgeable and attentive. I shared 9 dishes with my boyfriend and we liked everything. Highly recommend the octopus skewers and shishito pepper skewers. Oysters were fine. I would probably order something else because everything else was tastier. Two types of mushroom skewers on the menu. I ordered the maitake mushroom and it came marinated in a soy sauce-based sauce. It was a bit too salty for me and I would probably order the other mushroom instead. Overall, one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. Will definitely be back!
First time in this restaurant.
Love this restaurant. Food was delicious. It's very pricey but worth it . Cost us $250 for 4 person.
Ok for vegetarians.
The edamame dumplings were the star. The tofu was great. The veg handrolls meh and Brussels we're burned and the cauliflower was junky/mayo-y.
wish there was more light downstairs
We were sit downstairs. Had huge difficulties going down the stairs as this place is very dark. In fact, we decided it was so dangerous to go down and that we would not be able to see our food that we decided to leave
The chefs tasting menu is an experience to have.
Upgrade to include the wagyu, it is definitely worth it. This is a great date and special occasion place
Food, service, and drinks were top notch.
The lighting is perfect; no one wants to eat under fluorescent lights. The music was great and I would definitely come back!
Everything was excellent.
the only complaint i can make is the lighting, it was kind of hard to see but i also didn't have my glasses so that was more or less on me. our waitress was excellent, she made recommendations to us and didn't feel like she was trying to upsell us on anything. and the food, some of the best i have had. everything was delicious. from the first order of sashimi to the desert, i wasn't disappointed.
Went here based on recommendations as something different
Went here based on recommendations as something different to try while in the city. We got a variety of items. Our favorites were the sea bass, baked spicy scallop and crab, and the eggplant. Sea bass melted in your mouth. We felt the lobster tail was dry and wouldn't recommend. Downstairs had a speak easy vibe. Waiter was friendly. Service seems to be a focus here.
Best in Philly.
Loved the taster and the drinks! Staff is friendly and professional! Ice cream is to die for
Had the best dinner tonight here.
Food and drinks were delicious but really set our experience over the top was the impeccable service. Olivia struck the perfect balance of attentiveness and letting my friend and I enjoy the meal and our conversation. Her level of service was exceptional and I will do my best to come back again when back in town. Thank you!

Food: delicious and ingenious sashimi and sushi selections; a bit pricey yet the quality is worth it Service: friendly, helpful, attentive Ambiance: basement dine-in area is quite dark so get ready for some dim lighting...the mood is right but maybe not when you have a hard time reading the menu...the bathrooms are also communal and dark...
Had one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had
Had one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had doing the chefs tasting menu here! Tried so many new things and they all had great flavors. Some favorites were the waygu soup dumplings, the sea bass, the hanger steak robatayaki, and the Japanese fried chicken! Highly recommend as a romantic date night spot.
I love this place.
Food was amazing and customer service was great. One of the best places in PA
One of my all time favorites.
Service is exceptional and noteworthy! Every dish I try here never disappoints and it's a great place to try something new :) Great two person dinner spot!
In a nutshell this place is an experience.
To get into the weeds, this restaurant (especially in their lower level dining area) has a dark and moody but pleasantly inviting ambiance. The food is top notch, typically the chefs tasting menu is what I get every time i go, which is to say you and another person get a 10 course meal for essentially $70 per person; An amazing deal. The servers here are also great. Between the numerous times I've been here, I have never gotten a server that seemed too cool or too busy to assist and take my order. If you're thinking of coming here or are on the fence, this is your sign to just call and make reservations today.

Funny that the word "knot" is used, as both the service and food are disjointed. Underwhelming food and service. The venue also leaves a lot to be desired, having an ambiance closer to a sports bar than the trendy asian fusion restaurant it strives to be. I suppose if you appeal to the lowest common denominator, you may find success, but that has to tempered against the objectively poor quality of the food, saying nothing of the service. The only thing this has over a Chinatown establishment is the familiarity that comes with a Western etiquette.
Not worth it
Had sushi at two different sushi places today. The sushi restaurant with no ambience (but clean) was waaaay better than this upscale overpriced sushi spot. I paid $15 for 3 huge rolls at the first place. This place - $33 for a total of 12 pieces. Ridiculous. And they were way tinier than traditional rolls I’ve had. I got one sake. And one order of pork gyoza as well. 5 pieces. Bill came to $64. Don’t come here if you’re really hungry or you will leave broke. Also a few of the pieces of the California roll had an odd grainy taste. Will not be back. Not worth it.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
