I was impressed by the staff's kindness and the food was excellent. Mexican
Downtown Sedona closes early for a tourist spot. We went for dinner near closing time and the staff welcomed us warmly. It was delicious! The local beer was also great. They also have terrace seating, so in the summer, it's great to drink beer on the terrace from noon and enjoy Mexican food! (We stayed inside in late February because it was cold in the mornings and evenings lol) When we asked, "They're closing soon, right?" the staff member smiled and said, "That's fine. Take your time." Their service was also great.

Worst food ever. Margaritas were not good. 7.99 for chips and salsa and queso. Salsa and queso had no flavor, and were served in tiny cups. Food obviously had been scooped out of serving tray that had been made in morning. Chewy and hard. Guess tourist get screwed.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Tastes like Taco Bell at an inflated price. Very disappointed in the liquid cheese on the nachos and overly salty guacamole. Pass on the house margarita that comes out of a pre-mixed spigot. Too sweet and if there was any tequila in there, I certainly couldn't taste it. The staff was perfectly pleasant and prompt, just lack luster over-priced food.
Be the first to ReplyBland mexican food with poor service staff. But good location on the main drag.
Nothing special about this mexican place. We were expecting better and more authentic mexican food in Arizona and this joint did not deliver. Also didn't love that they added an automatic 20% gratuity for a family of 5 and also added a health Insurance surcharge on the bill as well. On top of 10% local dining tax. Jeez. Service was slow and generally poor/not attentive. We sat outside which was nice, but the inside looked nice as well, especially the bar area. Good location right on the strip. Overpriced for what you get.
Be the first to ReplyNot very good
Def not the best of 2023 as they advertise out front. Food (fajitas - chicken and steak) both very salty and the beef tacos were dry. Guacamole was flavorless and basic. The Mexican mule was good. Waiter was pleasant and service was good - won’t be back
Be the first to ReplyFood good with good friends
Friendly staff, good salsa, nice patio and great margarita’s! Better service then their competition we left right next door.
Be the first to ReplyVery bad experience
Do not go here unless you bring lot's of money. They charged us 158.00 for 2 double margaritas. We actually filed a police report. Civil complaint. The margaritas were horrible.
Be the first to ReplyBeat the Heat!
It was a very hot day and we sat outside under the umbrella with misters, it was very comfortable. I had the tropical ceviche tostadas, they were excellent and a perfect meal for a hot day. The service was friendly and it didn’t take to long.

Great food, great service, attentive server. Perfect flavor that tasted different than other Mexican restaurants. Perfect afternoon spent on the patio. The hot churros are not to be missed… yummy
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for Mexican
We happened on this restaurant in downtown Sedona after a tour We were surprised how good the food was Quick service resonable prices We loved it Free soda refills
Be the first to ReplyLa Cucaracha Trap on sedona strip
La Cucaracha Trap! no es bueno! Cuidado, run away! went for a mid day lunch, not crowded, rainy weather, slow to get any attention, and/or any service. (thats the nice have to say!) overpriced, tiny small portions, min tacos, and servings fit for a (swansons) TV Dinner. and wihtout any decent flavor, sin flavor! $12 for a bowl of chips, ?!! $12 ! never heard of such a thing! most decent Mex or Tex Mex, provide for minimal charge if not hosted. 1 Beer, $11, 1 "house Margarita" $12! como que puede? realize they are the tourist strip on main drag sedona, too too many other much better places to spend good time and fair money. Nunca MAS!, No BUENO.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Service at a good location
Walking in uptown Sedona decided to grab A bite. Service was outstanding. The young man couldn't have done more. Food good. a little pricey but its Sedona. Food came out fast. Server kept checking. Buss boy was also fast. Good stop for lunch
Be the first to ReplyWould never eat there again.
Service was slow (order was taken in a relatively reasonable time as was the delivery of the food. The quality of the food was fair but excessively price considering other Mexican restaurants in the area that serve better food at a more reasonable price. After the food was delivered to the table, the waiter never returned to the table to ask if we needed or wanted anything else. We had to loudly call another waiter to ask for our check. In summary, fair food, lousy service and zero decor.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, decent prices
Everything good about this restaurant. The food was tasty and the portions were good. The prices were less expensive than other similar restaurants nearby.
Be the first to ReplyHighly Praised By Tour Guide
Decided to try this establishment based on our tour guide's recommendation. Seated immediately, wait staff slow, and food was mediocre. We thought who could possibly mess up fish tacos and cheese quesadillas? Don Diego's can. Fish was dry and without flavor and quesadillas were wet instead of crunchy on the outside. Not appetizing. Luckily, our tour guide was late picking us up, as it was difficult to get our waitress's attention to get our bill.

Some of the best restaurant guacamole we’ve ever had. The prices are reasonable and the food and service was very good. Well worth stopping by
Be the first to ReplyMexican Is pretty good
Stopped here with friends, we were all worked up after going up and down the stairs to visit the creek. They had plenty of seating outside, and those had misters. We chose to eat inside. For the most part, the waiter was OK. We decided what we wanted, and Don Diego just doesn't have the tacos, margaritas and enchiladas. They had ceviche tostadas, which is what I had for lunch. They were good, just a little messy. The waiter never checked up on us again except to give us our bill. Still looking for the perfect Mexican Restaurant in Sedona.
Be the first to ReplyA Pit Stop!
This is a quick pit stop Mex Resto perfect for a pick-me-up while touring uptown Sedona. Not great, but not bad either… Margaritas good, beer is cold, and chips are warm and crispy… the salsa is tasty too, ‘nuff said! Cadillac Margarita with Don Julio, a 20 oz Pacifico Draft with some chips and salsa… $53.32 – you do the math.
Be the first to ReplyAcceptable, if not authentic, Mexican food in downtown Sedona
My wife and I were wandering around downtown Sedona and were hungry, so we looked for something that was convenient. Don Diego was convenient, and both the service and food were acceptable but not terrific. They did not offer any Mexican drinks - no aguas, no Jaritos - and the waiter told us the owner deliberately did not offer these items. He would be well advised to make some attempts to actually serve Mexican food, and he might get customers who go there not just because it happens to be convenient. For now, we would advise a much better authentic choice, Los Rosales, which is only a couple of miles west of downtown.
Be the first to ReplyNachos for supper
Had chicken nachos for dinner. Tasty except there was too much queso which made the nachos soggy. Plenty of guacamole which was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyDon Diego for the Win!
Great food, great view, and even better service! If you’re looking for authentic Mexican cuisine then this is the place! Best margs in Sedona so far!
Be the first to ReplyGood food, family friendly
Very good food in a casual atmosphere, and lots of options for kids. I loved the veggie black bean enchiladas! Recommend if you need a quick bite.
Be the first to ReplyWorst restaurant ever
This was a bad experience from beginning to end. We should have left immediately. Hostess was not friendly. Lighting was overly bright and invasive. Menu was lackluster. Service was subpar. Took 25 minutes to get chips and salsa. Had to ask other waiters for drink refills. Food was not edible. I have never not eaten a meal I paid for, but it was that bad. This restaurant is embarrassing to the town of Sedona. It was 100 bucks. McDonalds with the green arches would have been MUCH better.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service
We went to Don Diego on a tour bus stop. We were given ample time to find a restaurant and eat. We chose Don Diego, got a table right away, and ordered. Then we sat. After 35 minutes we inquired about our food, explained our time restriction, and were told the food was on its way. The waiter did not return to the kitchen to check on our order but stood and talked with the staff. After another 10 minutes we walked out without having eaten. Our order was not complicated or extensive. Even the pozole that should have been already prepared never arrived. Others in our tour group had the same experience. I would never go there again.
Be the first to ReplyService needs improvement, food was ok
It was the busy time for lunch with quite a few people waiting to be seated. We waited about 45 minutes for 2 separate tables since there was 8 of us. We received our drinks quickly and ordered chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were ok with medium and hot styles. Not a lot of chips or salsa for for adults. Drinks were never offered to be refilled. I had the chicken fajitas, I had to ask twice for my tortilla’s, if I would have waited until I received them my food would have been cold. I ended up not using them, just ate the chicken with a fork. They had good taste though. The others said their food was good.
Next time I will try another restaurant in the area.
