Doc Fords has never disappointed.
We have eaten here on 4 different occasions. Fresh fish is usually our main entrees and they have always been excellent. Friendly staff and wonderful service each visit!
Be the first to ReplyA long walk down a long pier on a gorgeous Thursday night
A long walk down a long pier on a gorgeous Thursday night led us to Doc Ford's in St Pete. Despite being told it was a 20-30 minute wait, we were seated in 2, with a gorgeous view and an exemplary, engaging, and attentive server by the name of Lily who enjoyed a bit of gab and laughter the entire night. We weren't rushed, and we were well tended, which always makes a huge difference! The food was wonderful and well-presented as well! Should you find yourself on the pier, stop in and say hello to Lily. Tell her hello from Idaho!

Drinks were weak. Not the selection of seafood items I expected from a seafood restaurant right on the water.

We came here for the love of rum! It did not disappoint! Our waitress was very knowledgeable with regard to the many rums they had. We sat at the bar with the ocean breeze. It's the perfect spot if you are in a date night or day drinking scenery is beautiful! We can't wait to go back and try more rum and appetizers. I highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThe food is wonderful.
The service sucks. I've been in maybe 7 times now and only two times was the service good. This last time I had a gift card that I keep forgetting to use. I decided to pop in while I was out and walking around. I sat at my table for 30 minutes. 30 minutes waiting for ANYONE to say hello. I got up went to the bathroom came back and still no one came so I left and went down the street to eat. The food is really good. Love their salads, fish etc but its not worth the bad service.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful location at the base of the pier.
They have plenty indoor and outdoor seating. After a long walk around the park and pier we were happy to inside for the AC. We had about a 30 minute wait. Our server Gregg was friendly and patient with our group. Parking at the pier is pay by plate. Plenty of people have already shared the menu but it really has many great seafood options. Lots of fun mixed drinks and a good beer selection (tried local Coral Head IPA which was nice). We tried the banana leaf grouper with corn salsa and chimichurri sauce. The entree was paired with well seasoned black beans and rice, and julienne squash. It was honestly great - five star meal Grouper tacos were good. Kids loved the basic Kraft Mac and steak fries. They got a complementary ice cream sandwich with the meal. = happy kids.
Be the first to ReplyNice spot on the water at the St Pete Pier.
Outdoor and indoor seating available. We sat outside and it was a gorgeous view. Food was very good, fresh fish and nice sides. Drinks were very good as well. Definitely recommend.

So apparently there are several locations of Doc Fords, who knew? Not me. Friends highly recommended grabbing a table outdoors for the great view. Only after visiting The Pier did we realize we must have been at the wrong location the day before. This location has a nice view don't get me wrong but nothing like The Pier location. My advanced reservation requesting outdoor seating was honored. We were seated outside on a high top table with a view of the bay? Well we overlooked lots of boats tied up & water. It was very pretty. There was music as it was a late Sunday @4 on the lower deck. Our server was friendly & efficient throughout our dining experience. We started off with fish fingers which were delicious. Fried perfectly & we tried the many private label sauces provided. That would have been enough for me right there but I did order the Seared Tuna Appetizer billed as Served rare atop chilled rice noodles that have been tossed with crispy Asian veggies, fresh herbs and a Thai peanut vinaigrette, topped off with a sweet soy drizzle and wasabi coulis. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this. The dish was drowning in the peanut vinaigrette & made the dish hard to eat. There were 3 thin slices of tuna & I could not even tell the taste because of the heavy handed sauce all over the plate. My dining companion ordered the shrimp tacos served with a side of rice & beans. He enjoyed them & commented the dish was tasty. Since it was early evening I decided on a Bloody Mary. It was nice & spicy. My Dino g companion ordered a beer from their many taps. As we were leaving g the place got extremely crowded with people waiting for tables. Overall, we had a good experience but were disappointed that we had made our reservation at the wrong location. So if you're wanting to enjoy the Pier for Dino g make sure you choose the right location when making online reservations.

It was extremely crowded so service was slow but the bar was slower. Took close to 10 mins to be greeted at the table and another 15 mins before we got bar beverages. Food was good and hot when it came out. A major complaint is the noise. It is entirely too loud and hard to carry a conversation with the people at your table.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a busy place.
Right on St Pete pier and on the water. The fish tacos had a lot of bones in it and were difficult to eat. The rice and beans were very tasteless. A friend had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp had the shells on them and also difficult to eat. Water was dripping from the vents above our table. Overall, not good.

We went for a late dinner at 7 pm and we were told we would have to wait an hour to sit down and even more to sit outside. We decided to do carry out and just sit on our airbnb's balcony which was a much better view of the water. We got the shrimp penne pasta which was very good. There was immaculate flavors and the shrimp was very good other than they keep the shell on. Who keeps the shell on for a shrimp pasta dish? But the flavor made up for it. We also got the white fish tacos and we opened up the container and it's literally just pico de gallo on a tortilla, they forgot the fish!! Overall it wasn't great and the food was mediocre other than the shrimp pasta. But customer service was really good, they were super nice even during the rush.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing steak salad.
The best food we have had on our trip. The mojitos super good. Ambiance very nice inside and out overlooking the water. Keyees was an amazing server, one of the best around!

Be the first to ReplyAlways great food, great atmosphere and beautiful view.
You typically have to get a reservation but I have walked in a few times and been seated within 20-30mins.

Delicious place! Great atmosphere, cool location, applause all-around. Favorite dish of the night BY FAR goes to:YUCATAN SHRIMP! Just the perfect blend of buttery, garlic, spice that hits the tongue in all the right places. If there is a dish YOU MUST order, it's this one. Unless you can't handle any spicy.. then no go.Least favorite dish:Calamari Salad. It was blah. I don't know what I was expecting but definitely not that. I ended up putting the mussel sauce and yucatan shrimp sauce all over it to choke it down.. Even after that, it still gets a 5-star ;)

Good spot on the infamous Saint Petersburg pier! The staff was incredible and the service translated into that. Strawberry daiquiri was delicious as well as our food.

New this year in this spot, it's the 4th Doc Ford's, the first we've been to, and my new favorite for app's and seafood. My husband goes for the salads. We especially LOVE the Yucatan Baked Oysters, and I'm not usually an oyster lover. We were there 4 times in our 2 months, as well as two times at Doc Ford's on St. Pete Pier. Had the oysters every time and also loved the spinach and artichoke flatbread three times total. Our friends from MN we took there loved Doc's also. If possible, and if Vikky and/or Kierstin are working at Doc's Jungle Terrace site, you should try to sit at the bar. They are the Best! Our entrees were always very good also. You have got to try it.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was outstanding.
But the wait to order and then receive the food was excessively long even though it was 2 PM. Beautiful restaurant, but noisy. Shrimp Tacos
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I are on holiday from the U.
K., staying with family. We arranged to meet old friends who we haven't seen for many years at the restaurant. Unfortunately, we were waiting at the wrong one! We should have been at the Bay Pines Blvd restaurant! We really just can't thank your staff enough, particularly the manageress - I think her name is Stephanie, and also your staff, including Nicole, for the help you gave us that day. We are in our 70's, and we were very harassed cos we were very late for our friends and not knowing the area. We didn't have our own transport either. However, we got to Bay Pines eventually but we can't thank you enough for your help - you were above and beyond expectations!!! Staff and good were excellent too! Many thanks, Sandy and Richard
Be the first to ReplyNot good.
Not more to say except our server was very pleasant and restaurant was beautiful and a great location! So to my point, it was 4/10 and expensive for that level of food. My honest opinion.
Be the first to ReplyIf Rayna is your "server" move or leave.
Unless unless you want to be lectured and embarrassed in front of your guests. Apparently, I didn't use enough "pleases" and "thank you's" for her. I was also told that I should look at people when I am ordering,, especially women. Thousands of business meals over 30 years, and I've never experienced anything like it.
