Fantastic Hotel
This hotel is the best I've ever stayed at. Friendly and welcoming. The staff are very helpful and will chat to you about your day. Beds are very comfy and the rooms are elegant in their décor. Will definitely stay again. Have stayed here 3 times already. Never disappoints.
Lovely Hotel but service issues marred our 3 stays there
We first stayed at Dakota Manchester, in July 2023. Please check out my previous review for details on what happened during that stay. First of all, we love the Hotel-the decor, ambience and comfort of the place are unique to anywhere else we have stayed. This is why despite a problematic 1st stay, we have since returned twice more in September and December 2023. I would also like to thank Cameron who was very helpful in assisting me with the bookings for our 2nd and 3rd stays. Unfortunately, there have been service issues on all three of our stays. On our 2nd stay it was going so well until the 2nd evening. As we had relaxed in the room on the Saturday, we didn’t have our room serviced as we had put the do not disturb on. I went to reception and explained. I asked if we could have the 2 bottles of water and the 2 bottles of soft drinks that were in the complimentary stocked fridge. The receptionist said she wasn’t sure if these drinks were replenished and then proceeded to say she didn’t think they were. We were asking for 2 bottles of complimentary water, and 2 small bottles of diet coke/coke. When we returned to the room, staff had done the turndown service and replaced the 2 bottles of water. So, part of what the receptionist had told me was clearly incorrect. In any case, surely if you book a 1 night stay and get a complimentary stocked fridge you get this again on your 2nd day, as it’s priced per night. We weren’t even asking to replenish the alcohol, just soft drinks. This seemed very petty to me for a luxurious boutique hotel. When I ordered room service about 9.45pm on the Saturday evening I clearly gave the correct room number of 503 (I believe staff can also see the room number that is calling) yet the lady proceeded to correct me on the room number. She also started correcting me when I ordered fries. At the end of the conversation despite wishing me a good evening, she slammed the phone down. It’s sad as the stay had gone so well up until that point. These scenarios were both easily avoidable and can make or break a stay. We also returned for what we hoped was a ‘3rd time lucky’ break for a couple of nights just before Christmas 2023. Just like our 2nd stay, the 3rd stay was going very well until the 2nd evening. I ordered room service just before 21.35. I ordered 2 x ham & cheese toasted ciabattas and 2 x fries. The guy I spoke to said I couldn’t order these until 23.00. I pointed out it says 22.00 on the room information and as it was virtually 21.35 could I please order this. He did apologise and eventually took my ‘pre-order’ as he called it. Unfortunately, the room service didn’t arrive. At 23.05, I then attempted to phone room service several times but there was no answer, so I called reception. The guy there was very helpful and apologetic and even arranged for a complimentary drink each. The room service then arrived about 30 minutes later, 2 hours after originally ordering it. So, a stressful final evening and eating close to Midnight. Although we initially felt appeased with the complimentary drinks, it was only when we arrived home and checked our bill that we saw the charges were incorrect. There was one at 21.34 where we were charged for the failed room service. The ironic thing is, the guy had even got the order wrong missing off the two fries. The most annoying part is that we were charged £39.38 for it! It was Christmas Eve when we had arrived home, so I found this stressful when I then had to spend time informing Cameron of this. I got the impression that Cameron was possibly annoyed as we had experienced another problematic stay. Granted, he refunded the charges, but basically implied that I had decided we could no longer return to Dakota. He even suggested I should’ve asked for him at checkout. Even if I had been aware of the bill discrepancy at that point, we had a taxi to meet outside. I would much prefer these issues didn’t keep happening than be expected to keep asking for someone. Sadly, he didn’t reply to my following email so my partner and I, felt that perhaps we were no longer welcome to return. For our 3 stays at Dakota (6 nights) during a 5 month period, we had some good rates, but we also spent around £3,000 on those stays. Therefore although we know perfection doesn’t exist, we believe we should at least be entitled to a pretty seamless stay and the full proper experience which the majority of other guests appear to have. We love the hotel and the ambience. The Garden King room was our favourite, and as stated previously the staff for the most part are very friendly and helpful. We really like the actual Hotel. Yet, these service issues and errors keep happening to us at Dakota. On our last stay we arrived home on Christmas Eve annoyed and stressed. And, that isn’t what a so called luxurious boutique stay should provide. We would love to return but we have already spent a lot of hard earned money. If someone else spent that level of money, I would like to think they would feel as aggrieved as we do.
Great service, bed too soft.
This is one of my favourite hotels in the world. I regularly recommend it to business associates and friends, and when in Manchester it is my 'home from home' The service and ambience as always didn't fail on this trip, however the bed was nowhere near the quality I've got used to from Dakota. It was like a bouncy castle and I didn't have a great night's sleep. Better luck next time!
Best business hotel in the UK
I don't know how they do it, but the Dakota hotels are consistently the best place to stay if you're travelling on business in the UK right now. The service, the room quality, the bed, the shower, everything is just right and geared up for those of us forced to travel across the UK on a regular basis. I have now stayed multiple times at the Glasgow, Leeds and now the Manchester Dakota and they are all excellent. Fully recommend.
Superb hotel
This is the second time we have stayed here and I cannot fault this hotel. The hotel is luxurious but the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The meal we had at the Grill was excellent and we enjoyed our cocktails and coffee in the bar. Special mention to Vitor. Can’t wait to stay again
The building is great but the staff are amazing
I have mobility issues, so travelling is usually difficult for us. However all the staff at the Dakota Manchester, without exception, could not have been more helpful or understanding. This was our second visit and we will definitely go there again. The food in the restaurant was very good, so thanks as well to the kitchen staff
Pure class with quirk and glamour
Extremely smart and classy hotel ,very central to all that Manchester offers .The classic double , no twins ??! Are the roomiest ever . The beds extra comfy , spotless rooms with tasteful bathrooms One of the quietest I have ever stayed in considering the hotel was completely full and the City had major events on. The staff attentive, friendly and informative and some very sweet doormen who have great knowledge of the City . Dakota group are new to me , but will highly recommend and use again . Nice touch of some chocolates in room as it was,my birthday .!! Never ate in restaurant or bars as out at venues both nights but they both looked very quirky , vintage inspired and inviting for next time. Love the noodle dog in reception 🙂🙂

I can honestly say this is the best hotel I have stayed in, from the minute we walked in till we left, everything was 100%. Your staff are a credit to your hotel, went above and beyond. Our room was fabulous, comfy bed and so spacious. Will definitely be returning.
Outstanding
Wonderful design and decor, very modern and inviting. Our room , 412, was comfortable with a king bed and the bathroom had a heated towel rack that stayed warm, plus a rain shower with plenty of hot water. We had tea in the bar in the evening. They didn’t serve cookies with the tea so we ended up sneaking in a few of ours to go with the tea. Nice selection of herbal tea. If we were to revisit Manchester , this is our only choice of hotel!
Stunning hotel
Great stay , initial impressions very welcoming greeted in a timely manner. Hotel immaculate and smelled amazing. Hotel bar stunning and drinks good quality. All staff helpful/professional and friendly. Breakfast- granola delicious.
Definitely room for improvement
The service in the restaurant needed work, the knives were taken away and replaced with steak knives before we had eaten our starter. We requested mixed toast at breakfast and only white arrived,we asked for sauce and didn't get any. Our mattress was broken and very uncomfortable
A very relaxing laid back hotel
We had an extremely relaxing stay. The room was spacious with a canal view. The staff on reception were friendly and the gentlemen sorting the valet parking were really nice. We ate in the restaurant before going out for the evening and the food was superb. The staff were highly knowledgeable about gluten free which was reassuring. We also had breakfast the next morning which was very good.
Fantastic Service
Great experience at Dakota. We have stayed in a lot of the 4 and 5 star hotels in Manchester and beyond and I do think this is the best. Fantastic rooms with all the amenities and spotlessly clean. We’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the best hotels in the world but The beds, pillows and linen were some of the best we’ve had. The service on reception was among the best we have ever had and the lady was extremely informative and helpful- just brilliant and so welcoming. Service in the lounge also fantastic! We arrived and were greeted by the concierge who parked our car for us and fully charged its battery, also left water and mints in the car for us for departure. We are looking forward to coming back and this will be our hotel of choice in Manchester when coming for concerts and events.
Classy joint
Classy tip top joint in Central Manchester walking distance to Piccadilly. Boutique hotel at its finest. Rooms a very decent size and decor very on point throughout the hotel. Restauutand and bar a great space, breakfast superb. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. One minor point - all rooms should have Robes and a Nespresso machine :-) Its sort of what you expect at this type of establishment.
Amazing 21st birthday celebrations at Dakota
We had the most amazing stay at Dakota for my daughters 21st birthday. Diamond was so helpful organising balloons and champagne and made sure everything was perfect. Looking forward to staying with you again soon. Thank you so much for making our stay so special.
5 Star Hotel and Service
This was my first visit to a Dakota hotel and it did not disappoint. On arrival Eddie from concierge parked our car and James on Reception was very welcoming and explained all that we needed to know. Our room was on the 5th floor and had everything you could need including a hot tong slate mat! The bed was extremely comfortable and as the hotel does not offer twin beds, we had asked for an extra duvet so we could effectively sleep in twin beds - this definitely helped! The bathroom was vast and the shower was hot and powerful. Great little touches in the room with the Nespresso machine and bottles of water in the mini fridge. We had drinks in the rooftop terrace and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was execellent and a good choice of pastries and cereals on the buffet. Will definitely return if I have a need to return to Manchester - or try one of their hotels in other cities.

Amazing service Dakota bar & Grill
We arrived at the Dakota Manchester for drinks and food on the terrace it was a beautiful day we were met by Abbey on reception to the bar she was amazing found us a table and took us to it very polite and bubbly she is a credit to your company . We were sat at our table and Ben the Bar manager came over to greet us and thanked us for returning he made sure we were served straight away and looked after us through the day he is a credit to your company we will definitely be returning very soon many thanks Mandy & Martin Sherwin

From walking through the door everything was perfect , the staff the atmosphere just total chill zone. Our only negative was that all the controls and information was accessed via the tv remote and at the age of 80 we are technophobes .reception provided us with all our answers and James was exceptional - Bed comfy pillows comfy breakfast superb thank you def come again
Weekend away treat
Fantastic hotel in the heart of Manchester. Comfortable well furnished room and bathroom. Good breakfast and great staff. A real treat and worth every penny. Dinner in the restaurant is a must, especially if you like steaks. Conservatory for drinks or a light snack worth a try.
