Crystal cove is positively gorgeous.
I drive through here every day. Twice! And I finally picked a cold, windy day to hike thinking it wouldn't be that busy. Wrong! It was still busy. But still very enjoyable. Dog walkers/owners: we are limited to certain areas only. So you will be walking along PCH. It gets a little noisy. But PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG! Plenty of trash receptacles to toss your dogs biohazard waste. I noticed a pile or two along my walk with my dog. Which is probably why we are limited to certain trails, because dog waste can be very to some wildlife. Not to mention it's a nuisance and an eyesore. So we get punished for other peoples lack of picking up after their dogs. I have a large dog so we can only do a couple miles each way. But I'm sure there's so many more trails in there that we didn't even come close to walking on. I highly recommend you go and enjoy what our coastal areas offer. People spends thousands of dollars to vacation out here. But we live out here!

Beautiful scenery, challenging hikes for those who want it and easier hikes for those who don't. Walk over to the beach after the hike and dip your toes in the sand! Welcome Center station is a bit small but enough for the kiddos. Parking is accessible and nearby there's restaurants for an after-hike lunch!
Be the first to ReplyThe park attendants give California state parks a bad name.
Consistently each time I go to visit the park or campground the employees are rude and childish. I frequently visit many of Californias other beautiful state parks and I've never been treated even close to as harshly and as rudely by any other state park employee. It makes what would normally be a beautiful time/stay at crystal cove an absolute nightmare. Unless if something changes soon, I would highly suggest going to one of the many other beautiful campsites up and down the coast where you can have a pleasant stay without being treated like you are burden to the staff or you don't belong. I truly hope that this can change, but until that happens I most likely will not be visiting crystal cove.

Can pay at the Ranger parking station, visitor center, or pay by phone with your license plate. It's a CA state park so perhaps less crowds at the beaches versus the nearby Laguna Beach municipal maintained areas. Also hiking trails as well.
Be the first to ReplyI love the trails and walkways here.
I came here for vista point which is just a short walk down from the parking lot. It's a great spot for picture opportunities without having to go too far. Parking is $5 per hour so it can get pricey if you come here often. Would be back to check out more trails!

This is my favorite place to go take a stroll! Lots of parking and many entrance and exit routes. For people who are always in search of accessible bathrooms, there are plenty! It is on the pathways before you go down into the beach. the California coast is absolutely beautiful with the rolling yellows, purples and brown hues of the flowers and biodiversity . Lots of trails, and there are shuttles that take you to and from the beach at the parking lot as well.
Be the first to ReplyThe weather is always nice here and the beach is gorgeous.
We took a stroll along the beach and it was a beautiful walk. The views from up top before walking down to the sand area is stunning. It was not too crowded when we were here which was nice.
Be the first to ReplyCrystal Cove State Park is just amazing place to see.
Take the hiking paths or the stairs down to the beach. There you will find life guards on duty. The kids will enjoy seeing all the rocks, shells and driftwood. There is $20 entrance fee.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth $20 for parking.
I can't believe how much it is to park here! It's a small lot (maybe about 20 spots. Unless I didn't see an extended area). It is a far walk from your car to the beach (again, not worth paying to park here but there is nowhere else to park if you want to come here). They do have a bathroom before you go to the beach area and it does have a shower area to rinse off sand. Once we got to the beach, we went to the cave area (so underwhelming, I expected much more). We wanted to wait for the tide to go down so we could look at the tidepools. But looking down on the ground, I noticed trails and trails of ants!! I have never seen ants at the beach before! So gross! We ended up walking further down to the other side of the beach and sat down there. It had less ants but of course two still managed to crawl up on me even though we sat on a blanket!! I definitely did not feel relaxed at this beach and did not like much about it. The only good thing, and why it gets 3 stars, is because we found a cool sea snail. Other than that, this tide pool sucks!
Be the first to Replythis place is unacceptable.
we came here wanting to check out the place to see if they were busy. the man said "it's pretty busy" and didn't allow us to go inside unless we paid. once we PAID. we soon discovered they were not busy at ALL. we started getting comfortable and not even 5 minutes later. the lifeguard tells us that the park is closing in 40 minutes. we were very aggravated and had to walk back UP a HILL and back to our parking lot. i am VERY disappointed and DO NOT recommend coming here. especially the man working on the front desks who DID NOT tell us that the park will be closing in an hour. i am VERY disappointed in this park and their staff. please fix it IMMEDIATELY. this is not exaggerated.

Had a lot of fun during my first visit to Crystal Cove on Friday. Was a gloomy March day, but the sights were still beautiful. Lots of native plants, a few local and tourist visitors as well as cottage campers, and school field trips. Not crowded at all! Great restaurant on the beach, Beachcomber. I'll have to try them out on a future trip. Small store with signature gifts and neat visitor center. Picked up the State of CA National parks pass at my library earlier that day to visit and park for free at a lot of local state parks for two weeks. Beautiful

Review of Moro Campground:PROS:-showers available (coin payment) with hot water-bathrooms are clean and maintained well-great view of the ocean-reservation comes with access to the beach-other campers were respectful of quiet hours -nice spot to camp at for beginners with Trader Joe's and other supermarkets nearby-helpful and nice park rangersCONS:-no camp fires or fire pits allowed-campsite is right next to the PCH so the traffic noises kinda killed the vibe-really hard to get a reservation since this place is really popular
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful place, a national gem in Southern California.
Great place to take the family and spend some time near the Ocean.
Be the first to ReplyIt is my family's favorite beach.
It is a good place to walk on weekends. There is several way to entrance and exit route so you can pick one. Great nature and you can see many of different things in the ocean!
Be the first to ReplyWe paid $15/parking for here.
We saw some small tide pools but it was just too cold and windy. Expansive beach/sand front. It was right across the street from a Trader Joes, Banana Republic, Gap.
Be the first to ReplyCrystal Cove State Park is much larger than I realized.
You can spend the whole day walking on the beach, looking at tide pools, swimming, hiking, and picnicking.Once you pay your day use fee, you can go in and out of all the different parking lots and walk down to all the different beach spots with tide pools. If you plan on spending some time here, be prepared and bring a small backpack with water, snacks, sunblock, a baseball cap, sunglasses, a towel, and flip flops. Wear good walking shoes. I walked over to one of the beach caves and explored all the beautiful shells scattered about. It was high tide, so then I waded out up to my waist to explore the tide pools. Lots of life there amongst the rocks! A stingray swam by me, and that scared me out of the water. Still, it was exciting to see.Orange County is a beautiful area with clean beaches and blue waters. Definitely worth a day trip.

Parking above PCH is free with validation for 3 hours with a stamp from Beachcombers. Never saw a sign stating this. One of the waiters mentioned the attendant would waive the fee if shown a restaurant receipt. Our attendant was condescending and refused. Bring your parking ticket or pay is your tip for today.

Crystal Cove State Park offers unrivaled views, access to tidal pool which is really fun to explore, and great hiking/walking. Tour the historic village. Village takes you back to early 1920's through 1960's. Great for seeing California as it was. We spent only a few hours exploring the beach and the cottages, but had a great time. Restaurant is great for dining but wait can be long. Catch a drink at the bar-no views but also no waiting and have a cocktail at the cottages. Highly recommend this park.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is great.
Parking is $15 for all day. Walk down the hill to get to the beach, not as crowded as neighbors Huntington Beach. Perfect location for professional family photos. Great place for leisurely strolling, dogs allowed on paved roads. Big enough parking lot. We want to stay at the historic cottage soon, looks cool. Ate at the shake shack nearby the park, great ocean views.
Be the first to ReplyLove the beach ? And specially if it's not super crowded ?
Love the beach ? And specially if it's not super crowded ? Well ... this is the spot . Every time I get to travel to california , I always have to come here i know the ocean is calming but not having to try to find where to lay down and take some sun or have a beach picnic is really nice . There's an entrance fee but it's worth it .if you have kids or not it's fun up check the tide pools , there's so many shells and marine life ( but make sure to leave them where they are and admire them ) there's also cool colorful anemones and many crabs , you can also hike to the other side when the tide is low and get to see THE pelican hill and coves , make sure you have water shoes ( not sandals ) the rocks can be really sharp and be prepared to get wet of the high tide and waves make a sudden appearance. Always be safe ! And have fun ! *they have showers and restrooms , it's so nice to wash off all the sand *there's not a store in there for water or snacks so make sure you have your essentials . *gray for kids -dogs are not allowed on the sand ( only on the cement trail )
