Too many other pretty places with Great food in Sedona
So, the good first..... beautiful atmosphere on Oak Creek. Service was pleasant. Unfortunately, breakfast was very average and the pancakes were nothing extraordinary. For the prices they charge, including a $17 valet fee - I expected so much more. Too many beautiful places to eat in Sedona to waste time here. Hard pass.
Be the first to ReplyThe most disappointing dining experience I’ve ever had.
This restaurant is beautifully set along the creek and is a gem of a property from a location standpoint. Unfortunately, the accolades end there. I took my better half to celebrate her birthday and it was a total disappointment. The service was untrained and lacked intuitiveness of when to be there, when to allow for conversation, when to clear plates among other things. I don’t expect these things from a standard restaurant but at an Auberge property at that price point I absolutely do. The food was not good and I mean certain courses were inedible. The wine service was not done by a trained server which at several hundred dollars a bottle you would hope to get more than “mmm that cork smells good”. Again, I sound pretentious but genuinely I am not. I just came in expecting so much more than what was delivered. The bill came out north if $700 for two and the experience dragged on for over three uninspired hours. There’s no question that the potential is there but the food needs help and the service just needs training. Total skip for me.

We went to Cress a couple nights before NYE. Our final total price with a 6 course tasting and wine pairings with tip was about $820 for 2. For that price, it should have been one of the best meals of our lives. Unfortunately, it was not. The food took forever and only half of the courses were really good. The mushroom soup and the gnocchi were top notch, however the cod tart and the dessert fell short of mediocre. To summarize the night, we arrived early at about 6:10 pm for a 6:30 pm reservation, and found out we had to pay $17 for parking. On the plus side, the valet man said he would charge our car, which we later found out he did not. When we arrived inside, we were asked to wait until 6:30 to be seated, we were not offered any beverages while waiting and we were not greeted nicely either. When our table was ready we were pulled from the bar and there was an awkward moment with the bartender and hostess about moving our tabs. The first two dishes of the 6 courses were honestly amazing so we put the little inconveniences aside. However, the rest of the courses were mediocre, at best. The cod tart was not good, the wagyu was over cooked, and the dessert was too sweet. There were other patrons who were visibly upset with the service and/or food. We essentially paid rent with the price of this meal, and the service AND quality of the food were NOT worth it. Would not recommend, and would never go back.

Beautiful setting on Oak Creek. Good service. Ordered Hamburger, salad, rigatoni. The “medium” burger was pre-formed, very well done, and every bit of moisture cooked out of it. Good aioli saved it from going back. The vinaigrette dressing was minus everything but the oil, and rigatoni was very bland, served in was appeared to a milk sauce.

Made direct reservation for lunch. Beautiful setting as we were seated outside. Jorge was our server and was very friendly, professional and made us feel welcomed. Lunch was nice and tasty. Pricy but you are paying for location and setting.

One of the most beautiful spots I have ever dined at. The location is calming, private, beautiful, and elegant all at the same time. The service was top-notch and professional. The food was delicious. This was a truly beautiful dining experience. Dining here will cost a pretty penny, so it's definitely for a special occasion. However, it's a beautiful option for a special night out.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed Birthday Dinner
I booked reservations about a month ago as I wanted to celebrate 4 friends birthday at a nice restaurant. When I made the booking the person on the phone never told me that 6 people was considered a large seating, really 6 people, and there was a limited menu. We arrived to the restaurant and valet used to be free and they had a no tipping policy. We were told that valet was $17 to park, another point the person on the phone never stated. We could have walked here as we were less than a mile away had we known it was going to cost us $17 to park. The night was brisk probably around 50 degrees and we knew that seating was outdoors and the person on the phone stated that we would have heaters. When we sat down, we noticed that all of the other tables had these very large heaters that were twice the size as ours and there were only 2 people at these tables. We were told they didn’t have any more heaters so it was extremely uncomfortable as only 3 out of the 6 people were getting the heat. They offer blankets but my shoulder and head were cold and they surely weren’t offering any hats. The waiter then presented to us the limited menu and we wanted to do the chef tasting dinner but was told that our party was too large and they couldn’t accommodate. This was the whole purpose of coming here to eat. We had no choice as we couldn’t leave as there would be no where else to eat on a Friday night without reservations. When the food came out, there was no silverware on the table as the bus boy forgot to replace what he took so we had to wait 2 minutes for them to provide cutlery. My plate was chicken breast and some potato croquettes which were cold and had to be remade by the chef. The food was very expensive and the only thing that I really enjoyed was the wine as the prices were reasonably priced. I couldnt wait to get out of there as my friends and I were cold and unhappy with the service. This used to by my favorite restaurant in Sedona but not anymore for dinner. It was a very disappointing birthday dinner. I had better service and food at Mariposa and the Vault.
Be the first to ReplyBarely worth the wait
Management needs to hire more staff. There was a large wedding and apparently those guests got priority. It took an hour to get our bottle of wine and the cocktails took longer. The soup came out lukewarm. The waiter was very apologetic and comped several items but this didn’t make up for a meal that took over three hours. I ordered the scallops. 3. Although the food was tasty and nicely presented the wait time was ridiculous. Also, they charge 17. to park your car. At this price point I expect better.
Be the first to ReplyService not very good.
We were here for dinner and breakfast. Dinner- service was not good. Plain and simple. There were plenty of servers and it wasn't that full but they were just not experienced or organized. It took a long time to take our order. We had to go find someone. Then the appetizer arrived before our wine. We had to chase them again for the wine. And then for water. The waitress tried but she was so harried that it stressed us out. The food was good. No complaints there. For breakfast, again bad, slow service. And the coffee was $10!!!

We enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious and ambiance definitely made it even better. Our favorite was the bone marrow appetizer. So rich and delicious

We stayed at the hotel and went for drinks one evening and dinner on our anniversary. The location is really beautiful and on our anniversary they provided a complimentary glass of champagne - which was appreciated. The food was only okay - we had the filet and halibut. The service is absolutely the worst - both times. Slow and non responsive. Didn’t take away dirty dishes glasses, never once ask us about the meal and it was impossible to get our bill. Really disappointing end to a vacation.

Restaurant at this property the worst ever. And nobody even cares. Don’t ever go! Can I give it a zero? Bad wnough that the kitchen was horrible and main course was at least an hour after the last dish, manager was rude and the entrees still didn’t come it together. Plus place wasn’t even half full.

Our little guy is a burgeoning epicurean. This restaurant was highly recommended by another well-traveled family.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed in Christmas dinner
We reserved a dinner for $155 per person. I was never informed that we would be buying a dinner a la carte. No problem. Ordered off menu. Prime rib was very fatty ($65), port chop very dry ($50), mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts cold. The $85 appetizer was nice but not worth the price. Our meal for 2 was, with tax, $325. I must thank the waiter for removing the charges for 2 glasses of wine or we would have had a ticket for over $400, not including tip. We are not budget minded, but for holiday dinner, it was a slap in the face. We would have been so much better off selecting frozen dinners at Safeway and microwaving in our hotel room. I could cry. And I might before night is over. I might also mention, be sure to check out your searing. My daughter’s chair had a broken arm. Merry Christmas Cress.

Service, food, staff dressed classy. Everything was hot, served perfectly. Our appetizer was Brussels sprouts in bacon, yum. We had lobster, filet, and the pork entree. Everything was so perfect. We’ve been to The Cress a number of times. Brunch is also very good.
Be the first to ReplyPoor experience
Poor menu and service. I ordered the tasting menu and it was quite disappointing. Food was average and the mix of flavors was not right . They should also let you know that you will have to wait half hour between courses. I never get to try the last dish or the dessert which it was what I wanted the most as it took forever and after more than 2 and a half hours I was still waiting. I was still charged for the whole menu and I got no apologies. Never had a most expensive meal in my life and not because of what it costs but for what you get for that price.

What a wonderful way to begin a vacation in Sedona! The food is outstanding, the service is considerate and attentive without being overdone, the ambience is modern, crisp, yet comfortable, and the setting is lovely. It's pricey but entirely worth it. All accommodations are graciously made for food preferences or allergies, and while upscale in atmosphere, the restaurant and its top notch staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Great choice for a special night out!

Be the first to ReplyIf this isn’t Sedona’s best kept secret then it soon will be
Honestly this was probably the most pleasant dining experience I have had in a few years. The staff at all levels were warm, knowledgeable and professional. The setting is absolutely second to none. My Halibut special and Pate appetizer were “I ate the whole last delicious bite”! This dining experience is a must do if you are visiting Sedona. Oh, complimentary valet ad well.

We made a reservation for 6:30 pm. We arrived at 6:15 and were told to wait till 6:30 before they can seat us. We’re seated by the river- very beautiful setting, romantic and cozy. Our waiter was nice and polite. We placed our order around 6:45 pm. By 7:30- our appetizers haven’t arrived. We checked and were told the kitchen is backed up. Our appetizer arrived at 7:50pm… 1 hour wait. (The couple next to our table already left, they couldn’t wait much longer) More waiting, our salad arrived around 8:05 pm… i almost burst out laughing. It was soooo tiny, i counted 5 (five) romaine leaves with 3 slices of cherry tomatoes and a splash of balsamic vinegar. It’s a joke, right? We checked again for our dinner and they finally arrived around 8:25pm…. At ROOM temperature!!! 2 hours of waiting for an embarrassing quality meal and we have to pay $$$. WTF Avoid avoid…

Beautiful venue for dining. Recommended by friends, this outdoor dining experience did not disappoint as far as ambiance, attentive wait staff and ease of reservations. We had breakfast creek side and would have loved to linger more but scheduling did not permit that. We both had simple eggs, sausage, home fries and toast. Perhaps I'm jaded, used to NY metro area diners, which have the best breakfasts, but the food was just so-so. The rye toast was tasteless, as was the potatoes. However, the creek side table was worth returning to. The price for breakfast was more expensive than usual because of the view and location. I don't have problems paying for that experience but the food left us wanting.

Sitting by the creek, listening to the water babble over the rocks, watching the mallard ducks in a distance swimming, taking in the dense canopy of sycamore trees and witnessing the lighting up of red rock formations in the distance....All of these were nourishing for our souls. And the meal was an absolutely magnificent treat for our foodie sensibilities. The chef's tasting menu with wine pairings was just YUM from start to finish, and a real special-occasion treat. Plus our server for the evening, Blair, made the experience completely seamless with his expertise and professionalism. Both my husband, Howard, and I felt like sitting creekside experiencing the sun going down and taking in the changing environment, together with the great food, made this one of our top restaurant experiences in the world. We recommend you go at least an hour before sunset to get the full spectrum of what's possible, aesthetically.

Had a wonderful meal celebrating our friend’s birthday. Ambiance was so relaxing and nice next to the river. Our server, Micah, was so nice and attentive. Great experience overall!

The service provided by Cheyenne was exceptional. She made the whole experience even better and went above and beyond and took our picture by the creek. We will be sure to go back! 100% recommend.

Environment, setting, food, and service were outstanding. My wife and I celebrated or 30th anniversary with them on Valentine’s Day. We had the pre fixe 5 course dinner . My wife is both onion and garlic allergic and chef Tiffany did an outstanding job accommodating us without compromising the experience. She is a fabulous chef that listens.
