Corridor 109 Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
The Conrad is RAD!
Well, color me surprised! This old girl thought she knew every nook and cranny of her hometown, but the new Conrad hotel in DTLA is a delightful discovery. I've been shuttling between hotels while my gorgeous Spanish-tiled roof casa in the hills gets a little nip and tuck, so I've seen more than my fair share of lodgings lately. But the Conrad? Oooh honey, it's giving me a whole new perspective on downtown's attempted comeback. Let's start with the views, shall we? I felt like I was surveying my queendom from those floor-to-ceiling windows! The glistening Disney Hall curved its way into view like a showgirl's hip, while the stately lines of the Music Center reminded me of Michelle Yeoh serving regal elegance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. It was the perfect juxtaposition of old and new LA - much like the city itself as it tries to rebrand as a cultural wonderland without losing its gritty charm. Speaking of old and new, let me tell you about my rental car saga. I landed at LAX convinced I was the epitome of eco-consciousness by booking an electric car. Smug though I was, my face fell when I realized they hadn't provided the charging cord! In a panic, I called the Conrad's valet, and the ever-resourceful Rafael assured me with that soothing velvet voice that he'd locate a cord and I shouldn't fret. True to his word, by the time I arrived, they were ready to charge up my green machine. The service only got better from there, my dears. J.P. at the front desk took me on a grand tour of the lobby like I was a Tik Tok influencer, pointing out all the hot spots and texting me later with dinner recommendations. I felt so welcomed and cared for - a rare feeling in today's digital desert of a world. In fact, the entire staff seemed determined to make me feel at home, from the sunny morning greetings to the attentive beverage service. One afternoon, buried under a mountain of paperwork, I decided to camp out at the bar with my laptop and a dry martini to sustain me. The charming Kevin kept my glass filled and my gazpacho bowl repilled as I tapped away, making working feel almost...fun? For a psychologist dealing with other people's psychodramas all day, that's the ultimate meditation! All in all, the Conrad is an urban oasis in the middle of the city I adore. With soaring views, friendly staff, and a prime location at the crossroads of LA's past, present and future, it's earned a permanent spot on my staycation rotation. Until next time, DTLA - I'll be the one peering down at you urbanites from my lofty perch, martini in hand!
A tale of two Conrad's
This trip was a quick stop over on our way to see Adele in Vegas and we were also booked at the Conrad at Resorts World. Well this hotel in LA is 5 star Vegas not so much will do separate review however tow different experiences hence the title Check in very quick and pleasant minor room upgrade and off to the lounge for some quick bites and drinks I wont talk about price because if you go you know everything is expensive today that said everything was quality except for first night a bit of a staffing issue in bar they comped a round of drinks and that made it right Lunch at San Laurel was excellent as was the service Dinner was also excellent wish I could remember servers name but he was excellent Pool service by Britney was also done very well Everyone friendly and professional Room very comfortable nice bed and truly 5 star turn down service I would come back without a doubt Now I guess we were spoilt because we usually stay at crockfords at resort world but thought we would keep the Conrad theme going big mistake huge but we had this 5 star first and that is what truly showed us the difference
Excellent Choice for Downtown Los Angeles Stay
Conrad LA Stay May 16 to 20th: Nice, new hotel across from the Walt Disney Concert Center in Downtown LA. You enter the valet for car drop off 1st Street at the 3rd floor of the building. Elevator takes you to the 10th floor where lobby and San Laurel restaurant are located. Also pool and Aqua Vita restaurant are on the other end of 10th floor outside. Spa/Fitness center down to 9th and 8th floors. A separate bank of elevators takes you up to rooms. Reception and Conceirge staff very nice. Oliver @ Conceirge desk assisted us in getting some dinner reservations arranged before our arrival, and Adam helped us many times during our stay and greeted us by name when we came by the conceirge desk. We really appreciated their help and friendliness. The hotel also provides Lyft rides to locations within 2 miles of hotel. So we used that for our restaurant visits each nite. The concierge desk booked the ride and then sent us a “link” to our phones and we met the ride outside on Grand Avenue at the 3rd floor level of the building. Worked very well. We had an excellent meal at San Laurel the first night. We ate at the bar. The restaurant was packed and we had a reservation, but on our hotel reservation we had our home phone and they tried to “text” us that our table was ready, and we didn’t get that. It didn’t matter, as we had already decided to eat at the the bar. We had the Lubina, which was great and also had the Hiramasa Crudo which was also very good. Pool looked nice, but it was a cool weekend, so we didn’t use it. Spa looked nice, but we didn’t get to that either. Fitness center is on 8th Floor down from Spa lever. It was spacious with standard equipment. Our room was on the 20th floor and had a view of the Disney Center. The hotel doesn’t have bathes in most rooms, but there was spacious shower. One concern of ours, was the floor in the shower is tile, and gets slippery when soap hits the floor. Our room was quiet, black out blinds make sleeping in easy! Housekeeping did an excellent job. We parked the car $62 per night. Valet service excellent. We had the same bellman, George, on arrival and departure and he was very pleasant and helpful. We had a breakfast package and ate breakfast each day in the San Laurel restaurant. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts were all good, I had the Greek yogurt parfait the last day of our stay and it was exceptional. This stay was very nice and I’d highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in downtown LA. A lot of the guests were going to Dodger baseball games, and the music center and Disney Center are across the street. Also, it is a block from the Broad Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art. I also walked to the Angel’s Flight tram, and Central Market. Little Tokyo was 10 minutes from Central Market.
Can’t wait for my next stay!
I can't say enough good things about my stay at the Conrad. We did a staycation to celebrate my daughter's 8th birthday with a couple friends and had the best time. All of the staff were so friendly from the bellman to the front desk to the pool service and in-room dining. They went the extra mile to surprise and delight at every turn. I can't wait for our next stay at this wonderful hotel. I also personally loved the Byredo products and the blackout shades in the rooms. Pool was great too!
Endearing gesture
My stay at the The Conrad Hotel was a memorable one thanks to Cecilia who kindly offered me some coffee to take with me upon hearing how much I enjoyed it. It was sent up to my room with a card(what a lovely surprise!!!) and I didn't even get to say thank you to her, as I had to hurry to the airport. Thank you so much, Cecilia for your thoughtful gesture!! It is people like you that make a difference in our stays. I will definitely come back to the Conrad Hotel!! God bless you!!
The only place to stay in Downtown LA
This is now my go-to hotel in Downtown LA - there is no other hotel that even compares! The rooms are lovely - comfortable, stylish, high-tech - and the service is great. I like that you can text one number for all concierge requests. It's incredibly convenient. The F&B across the property was delicious, both at the restaurants and through room service. If you book through Fine Hotels, you also get several F&B credits and other hotel amenities that make the stay even more worthwhile.
This hotel cares about the details
Let’s start with the check in. Noah was extremely helpful, even walking me to the elevator to give me a hot tip on how to use the shower. Once in room, it’s clear a ton of thought went into the space. Each drawer has a purpose and is organized as so. Bonus points for including a kettle. The shower is exceptional. Set your temperature, pick your water source, hit the button and let the cleaning begin. Again, what service! I forgot my toothpaste and the staff had a fresh tube sent to me within 5 minutes of asking. The location is fantastic if you’re looking for very easy access to The Broad and all the performing arts venues Los Angeles has to offer. You’re also a short walk to Little Tokyo and the north side of the Arts District. As a former Downtown LA resident I’d happily stay here again.
Great Hotel with awesome staff
The Staff is the almost the best I have met. The hotel is very pleasant; great for work. The HK staff especially Roxana are amazing, and very caring. The Front desk; Nubia, Robert, David, Noah, everybody was friendly, professional and hospitable! The room view was splendid and everything you needed was there.
The best of the best!
Absolutely the very best! We travel worldwide, and we can objectively say that there isn’t a better hotel or hotel staff anywhere. The architecture thanks to Frank Gehry, the interior design thanks to Tara Bernerd, the food thanks to José Andrés and his most excellent on-site staff, and last but certainly not least, the most wonderful hotel staff. Everyone that had or has a hand in this hotel truly makes the Conrad Los Angeles so, so very special. There are entirely too many people to thank for making our stay so memorable, but we want to try, at the risk of forgetting a name or two, to mention those that touched us during our stay. Jei, the concierge extraordinaire, you are one of the best! Antrell, Makayla and Adam at the front desk, thank you very much for the lovely room. Kevin and Betty at San Laurel, you helped make our dinner so very special. Brandon, the rooms manager, your housekeeping staff kept our room perfect all the time. Our wonderful servers, Brett in the Beaudry Room, Johnny in San Laurel and of course, David, in Aqua Viva, - exceptional. We were made to feel special with every interaction we had with this amazing staff, including Savannah in catering. Thank you! We can’t wait to return. And we most certainly will, over and over again.
Top class hotel in LA
We have been blown away by Conrad Los Angeles. Our taxi pulled up to this boutique hotel and it definitely had the wow factor. The service from when we stepped out of the car was top class. We travel all over the world in many Hilton and Conrad hotels and this is right up there with the best. Our welcome at reception was magnificent. Diana and Misty are so lovely and made us feel so welcome. Ruth stood out like a shining star. She was truly exceptional and I hope she is recognised for her outstanding service. Every step of the way she was on hand with anything we needed. Walter from in room dining thank you for looking after us. Oliver from concierge. What a fantastic guy. Really attentive and gave us loads of useful information. Ken from cincoro tequila and Andrea from San laurel made our time in the restaurants very pleasant. We had food here nearly everyday as it really is top quality. We were lucky enough to try the spa and Devin was also so nice and helpful. The location is brilliant to get around. Univeral studios is close by as well as many other attractions. The architecture and interior design of this hotel is breathtaking. We really do not want to leave. The team here at Conrad Bali are exceptionally helpful and nice. Thank you so much for looking after my family so well and making our stay so special. We really appreciate everything. Until the next time.
Luxurious and Service
We had a wonderful experience starting at check in, the service was fast and very friendly. The rooms were spacious, updated and very clean. We loved the special lighting and controls as well as the shower system, everything was high quality. The best part was the bed and pillows which were so comfortable. The outdoor dining on the patio was great as well. Overall this was a 5 star experience!
Make sure you dont miss out on THE 5-star experience.
Five stars. The vibe, hotel accommodations with five star customer service and amenities. Exceeds all expectations in every possible way… views, cleanliness, contemporary, chic, fun, spaciousness, lights, curtains, hot water, electric kettle, sofa, bedding. Best possible hotel in the area and still affordable. We are a couple from Puerto Rico celebrating our 10th anniversary and arriving at Conrad at 11pm on March 15th- March 18th. Got to San Francisco on March 14th at 11pm after two long flights and then rented a car to drive ourselves to Los Angeles. We were overtired but happy to have made it to this beautiful gem per our reservation via third party (ticketsatwork). Daniel called us up for checkin and the biggest surprise comes up… our reservation was not showing. We kept it together since Daniel kept calm treating us with so very much gentleness while oue information was nowhere to be found. He even called the third party in our behalf like the good old customer service used to be and to our big surprise… even after a third party confirmation number was provided there was NO hotel confirmed reservation. At that point I just felt we were lost since didnt have anywhere else to go and the amount of money for hotel stay last minute could be out of control. But of course not, all went smoothly and we were quickly accommodated at a fair rate because Daniel took the greatest care of me and my husband. Conrad Hilton I would recommend to make this man the face of your customer service because he will rise to any ocasion in the best of ways. The Conrad Hilton experience has made our anniversary trip unforgettable for good. To learn and be part of such an outstanding customer service is truly magical. Thank you thank you thank you Daniel!!! Forever grateful to you and to all the wonderful people working at the Conrad Los Angeles. We had a blast and felt the most pampered with actual good humans than we had ever been. So excited to go back in the coming soon rather than later future. Make sure you dont miss out on THE experience.
We wanted to stay a few more days.
The Conrad Hotel has an excellent location, surrounded by cultural activities. However, besides its high-quality standards, the most extraordinary thing about this hotel is that its staff is always ready to help and make you feel appreciated. We understand it's not for everyone, but if you can afford it, this is the ideal place to stay in Los Angeles.
Fantastic
Outstanding! This hotel was welcoming and staff was the best I have experienced. Antrell, David, Robert, Ana and Paulo served us well. It was my husbands birthday and they greeted us at every corner with Birthday wishes. The room was beautiful and there was not a detail missed from live plants to motion lights under bed. The views were spectacular and we greatly enjoyed the linens and housekeepers were attentive. Fresh baked cookies and robes were perfection. Every detail of bars and gardens are thoughtfully curated. We will stay again soon! The pool was closed the first day which would normally have affected the trip but the service and luxurious room outweighed any complaints!. We are very happy with hotel.
I look forward to my return to this great hotel.
Perfect from start to finish! thank you. If you are going to LA and are thinking about the Waldorf Astoria - think again and book in at the Conrad which beats the WA at every beat. Firstly, we arranged a transfer from LAX through the Conrad - the driver was great, there to meet us and very helpful (unlike the experience I had through the WA). Check in was easy, the rooms were (as requested) near each other and are lovely comfortable and spacious rooms. After a long flight, we ate in the bar, the food and the service was excellent. Every colleague at the hotel was authentic and friendly and the vibe is relaxed and professional. As we left, Olivia was wonderful in helping us, and Pablo, super kind and helpful. Lovely experience - thank you
Perhaps you should consider booking a different hotel.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Although it is located downtown and is impeccably clean, the lack of good service and privacy infringement make me stand by my statement. On our first night at the hotel, we noticed a flashing blue light in the corner of the window. We got up to investigate, and it appeared to be some sort of device, but we were unsure and tired from jet lag. We covered the space up with the curtain and went to sleep. The next morning when we returned from breakfast, the device and blue light were no longer there (I did take pictures of it). We ran out of towels and requested a few different items that took three calls and over an hour to receive. As someone else mentioned, the staff is not inviting at all and only seem to care for members of an elite social class. I made several complaints and shared my concerns with management, only to be lied to about this “device”. At $400 a night, I expected more. I'll stop here because I plan on pursuing this further. In short, stay here only if you like lackluster customer service and don't value your privacy.
I was here about a year ago and got super lucky to go
I was here about a year ago and got super lucky to go recently again. This place was still as amazing as I remembered. The menu is all seafood so if you are not a huge seafood person this might be not the right place. However, if you don't mind seafood or love seafood, this place will be your dream. Every bite you have here will blow your mind. In my humble opinion, this place has so much potential to get a Michelin star easily once they find the permanent location and get the beverage license. They only have 4 tables that can only accommodate 2 people per table so it's hard to get a reservation now. But I would highly recommend to all the foodies to give it a try since they will not be disappointed once they try the food.
Beautiful hotel and amazing staff
We just returned from the Conrad Los Angeles after a 7 night stay. Here are my thoughts: Rooms are beautiful and spotless and well appointed. Over the course of the week we shifted from a standard room to a suite and the views were stunning in both rooms. Location is great (near USC which is why we stayed there). Staff is unbelievably kind and helpful and they really do their best to help with any and all requests. Restaurant is great for breakfast (we booked through Amex FHR). Prices are quite high though so beware ($10 for half an avocado is absurd but I ordered it anyway). Areas to improve: -The lighting system is very confusing and even my techie husband found it challenging. -Parking is ridiculously expensive ($60 or so per night) and is valet only, which isn't convenient. -Restaurant breakfast would be even better with a few healthier options. Overall this was one of my favorite hotel stays and we'll return for sure.
I write this as I sit in the restaurant after finishing
I write this as I sit in the restaurant after finishing this amazing meal. 8 savory courses of bliss with 2 amazing dessert courses to finish off probably the best meal I've ever had. I knew going in it was going to be good but really really blown away by just how good it was. I would come back in a heartbeat, assuming I can capture another reservation. This truly was the most amazing culinary experience. Simple, clean, amazing, delicious!!
Reminding me of Kato when they first started out, the small
Reminding me of Kato when they first started out, the small 8 seater restaurant is located in a shopping center of Howlin' Rays. It's on the 2nd floor without any signage. Chef Brian Balik came by and greeted everyone prior to service. 1. Hon mash tartlet: the onion and citrus cuts through the salty trout roe. A tasty combination. 2. Isaki with ensui uni: The fish was flavorful with the tarte gelee bringing out the sweetness of the uni 3. Kasugodai toast: nicely toasted milk bread with aioli but it slightly overpowers. Still so good. 4. Hotate: the scallop is very light and gets overpowered by the potato. Good but not sure if they go together. 5. Kinki with nagaimo: The sauce was really good. Dish reminded me of a more concentrated version of steamed fish you get at Chinese restaurants 6. Katsuo with pesto: pasta cooked perfectly al dente. Katsuo is great fish that pairs well with them stronger pesto and ginger 7. Aka amadai: soup was a bit salty for me and the radish didn't have much flavor. 8. Abalone risotto: the risotto was a bit too soft but had good umami. The abalone was nice and tender. 9. Mango sorbet: creamy pure mango. Can't go wrong here. Will be interesting if they can expand the desserts beyond sorbet in the future. Service was good. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere. Dinner took about 2 hours which is pretty good for the quality of the dishes. They are currently looking for a more permanent location and I for sure will be coming back again. I see great things in the future Chef Brian and his restaurant.
