Had such an amazing visit today - I stayed for hours! The staff is incredibly warm and kind all around, and the food is wonderful. Not only is this place a well-preserved historical landmark, but the owners and staff have created such a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for all. As I sat on a bench there today with my freshly cooked tri tip in hand, I saw the beauty of the diversity that this place brings. Couldn't be more grateful for this little home away from home and for the rich history it holds.

Karen Alert ! Drove 3 hours from LA to bring my wife to this place as we've been wanting to come since seeing it on IG. The Karen that hardly greeted us showed us a menu at the check in with nothing on it but the most expensive plates and asked us to take a look to make sure we wanted to eat there. LOL. I'm Hispanic and have tattoos so I guess she assumes we are poor and unable to afford the menu. When the other server seen our menu she was nice enough to give us an actual menu and we proceeded to sit down and order. The food was good and we still tipped but If you're not white you're probably better off saving your money. $48 for ribeye Lol the place is old and dusty. Hardly a fancy restaurant that justifies the prices on their menu. If we wanted something bougie we would have dressed up and went somewhere with Valet. Definitely will never come back to this place. Oh and my wife sat on a bench that looked like an old church pew and she literally got a splinter in her thigh.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great , the experience was the cherry on top.
I loved it here . A unique spot to have lunch with lots of history and friendly staff . Check out the gift shop
Be the first to ReplyService was great , the scenery was awesome.
Fast and friendly servers . Definitely recommend the trip tip and onion rings

I highly recommend if you're in for a treat for different style meats. This is the spot. A very beautiful drive up the mountain get ready for at least a 15 minute drive up in the mountains for this hidden gem. Listening to the water Creek coming down and, frogs and crickets with live music. What a cool spot. I highly recommend going during lunchtime because there is a tri-tip sandwich and three different chilies that you can get a sampler. It's not offered during the dinner service, which was a disappointment because I really like those two a lot, and I went back for dinner and it wasn't on the menu. Dinner is very elegant make reservations for sure, but if you go during lunchtime, you don't have to reservation. You can smell the barbecue like you're in a campfire somewhere. Really delicious. They have different types of meats like, rabbit, buffalo, venison, and they're all delicious.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Tri-tip sandwich and black bean chili.
The atmosphere is perfect. The onion rings are a must if you're a fan of onion rings.
Be the first to ReplyCool spot.
Made me feel like I was back east. The tri tip sandwiches were 7/10. My kids had fun checking out the old cabin and jail.
Be the first to ReplyI need to say first off that my review of CST is based off
I need to say first off that my review of CST is based off of the one time I was there more than 25 years ago. So take waht I say here assuming nothing has changed since then. CSP is a magnifecent stop in the secluded foothiils just northeast of Santa Barbara and well worth the drive. It has a truly old west rugged wagon trail charm that surprisly feels at home. Now this is the first time I had ever had venison and I was instanly in love with the tenderness and flavor of such a fine meat. I don't recall what wine I had, allthough it was a red and I believe their own label (I could be wrong about the label though) but I do remember it went perfectly with the venison and got turned on to trying different wines. I am no wine connoisseur by any means, it is mostly beer for me, but CSP introduced me to pairing a good wine with a great meal and for that it'll always have a special place in my heart. 25+ years has been far too long. I have since gotten married, had three kids and maybe a grandchild soon on the way. I think it's time for me to head back south to Santa Barbara and take my wife to CSP.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible service.
We had made reservations with a group of 12 friends but were at no time told beforehand that we couldn't split checks. It's 2024, the technology exists. The waiter seemed very offended that we even suggested splitting the check 3 ways. The head hostess up front was also was not afraid to counsel a fellow employee in front of us for making a mistake, which was uncomfortable. Our reservation was also 2 hours long but we were informed 45mins before our window was over that the next party was already outside waiting, pressuring is to hurry up and leave. Food was good though.

Took a drive out today while visiting SB and was not disappointed! The drive was easy and gorgeous. The parking lot is small so you will probably have to park down the road. I went on a Saturday, you can just order the sandwich and chips immediately or get on the waitlist for the full menu. We decided to get on the waitlist and it was about a 45 minute wait. We ordered 2 Tri tip sandwiches with potato salad. YUM!!! I loved the au jus sauce and my husband loved the horseradish. The potato salad was decent but I was really blown away with the chili, phenomenal! Bring a deck of card and enjoy your wait!

The vibes are impeccable here! Such a magical hidden gem between Santa Barbara and Solvang/ Santa Ynez! There is a bar, a restaurant and a little gift shop, but no parking so you will need to park on the sides of the road. We didn't have a hard time finding parking though because we got there as soon as it opened. However, there were already lots of people there so get there early if you can. As for the food, the onion rings were delicious and we loved the service and our server. The only reason that I didn't give full stars is because we are huge bbq fans and the baby back ribs and the cold springs sandwich were okay but nothing to die for in our book for the $70 meal we had. We definitely plan to go back and just get the $10 tri tip sandwich instead of sitting and ordering in the restaurant since the location is unmatched. I would still highly recommend this place!
Be the first to ReplyDeep in the mountains, you'll find the Cold Spring Tavern.
I felt like I walked on to the set of Wild, Wild, West. There was live music, BBQ, and cowboy hats galore. Everyone was so inviting and friendly. I enjoyed a beer at the bar then went next door to order food. You can't go wrong with the famous tri tip sandwich! But a surprisingly favorite of mine ended up being the grilled cheese with bacon jam. I know that sounds plain but when I say this was the yummiest grilled cheese ever, you gotta believe me! The vibe was great, the views were spectacular, and service was amazing! My server Grant had us laughing the whole time. Seriously, Grant better be doing stand up comedy somewhere. He also recommended the grilled cheese, which I was grateful for. Plus, there's more than just food here! You can walk around and check out the views, there were a couple of water falls. And a tourist shop, which explained the history of the tavern

Very busy on weekends, silly us! But we did hve lunch reservations so that's a must . As usual great food & service.
Be the first to ReplyBest spot around! Always recommend to anyone passing by.
Lines out the door but always worth the wait
Be the first to Replythe potential for the vibes at this establishment.
.. astronomical. tucked away in the mountains with a running little creek next door and a historically and cozily decorated tavern.....it is perfect for visiting with old friends or loved ones. romantic fireplaces set the scene for a date night. so why not 5 stars? well I said there was potential.....not fufilment. there is no music so the place is oddly silent and despite reservations being required, they didn't pick up all 7 times I called and the voicemail was full. once we were there we had multiple different workers come over with minutes of eachother to ask us the exact same question. I think a little team meeting / management rearrangement would take this place FAR.As for the food, the onions rings are incredible. Please, if you get one thing let it be this. Look at that ranch like it's a swimming pool basically. the salads (not pictured) are a great quantity so a good bang for your buckmy friends split the tri tip platter and were full off the half portion so that's a good idea for y'all. horse radish is not very pungent for those who may care the catch of the day was a salmon that was delectable!garlic mash side could have more garlic flavoryou get bread when seated that's yummy but butter was slightly cold

Man, the vibe here was infectious and I couldn't help but to be stoked!Located in the rolling hills of Santa Barbara, down a small windy road, just in between Solvang/Santa Ynez and Santa Barbara proper. 3 small ooooolllddd cabins (bar, restaurant, & gift shop) in the middle of tall trees next to a creek! There's no parking, so be prepared to parallel park along a steep, dirt hill! Came on a weekend and it was POPPING! This is when they've got their grills out and they're serving up tri-tip sandwiches outside! The tri-tip was AWESOME, best tri-tip Sammy I've ever had! Simple meat, in a roll, and throw in your own bbq sauce and horse radish. Everyone up there, from locals to travelers, were in a good mood. Music was playing, air was crisp and food was delicious!Didn't do the full service restaurant, but will definitely try to make it one day. This was a highlight of our trip up the central coast!
Be the first to ReplyWe stopped by this place on our way doing a road trip.
What a gem. Cutest and coziest place I been. Live music and great ambiance. Food and drinks are delicious and staff are friendly. We will definitely come again anytime we are around here.

Rainy days at this historic stagecoach stop restaurant are always memorable. A blonde beer in the tavern (yes, I like brunettes too ) followed with a lunch/dinner at the restaurant will make any patron wanting to return. Their garden salad with ranch is fresh (good ranch!), a bowl of the sirloin chili (three styles of chili offered along with a tasting of the three) ending with the traditional tri-tip sandwich with bar-b-q sauce, salsa and apple horseradish sauce is delicious! You will find yourself returning for years to come....
Be the first to ReplyBest tri tip.
Best onion rings. But bring your sweater and sit/order outside. And don't forget to try the chili sampler
Be the first to ReplyIncredible location, great live music and delicious chili.
:) Definitely worth a stop if your out around wine country on the 154. This place is a gem.

Arrived early on Saturday at 11:40am and there's already a 20 minutes wait for table service. The service is good and the tri-tip french dip sandwich is delicious with hearty portion of perfectly cooked tri-tip. Worth a stop while visiting between Solvang and Santa Barbara.
Be the first to ReplyOmg!!!!! I would come to this place again and again.
We got here around opening on Saturday morning and there was already people waiting. I can see why. I didn't know you could make reservations, I'd do that next time. Their food is freaking incredible. I loved their Chicken Chili. It hit the spot on a cold morning. Luckily, although we were sitting outside, there are heaters. As for drinks, I tried their Hot Apple Cider which was awesome. Now for the star of the show: the Bar-B-Q Ribs were to die for. They were fall off the bone and the sauce was amazing. The flavor and tenderness were just incredible. Also a close runner up, also mouth-watering was the Tri-Tip sandwich. They provide salsa, horseradish, and bar-b-q sauce on the side. Use all these and it will be *chefs kisses*. I'm still dreaming about their food. Oh, did I forget to mention the fries? The fries are incredible. Top 3 fries I have had in my life, and I've had a lot of fries. Food came out pretty quickly as well, and our server was really sweet. Don't walk, RUN here!!!!
Be the first to ReplyNeat place to eat in the middle of nowhere.
Their famous tri tip sandwich was on the tough side. Ribs and onion rings were good. I'd go again if in the area, in fact, have been twice.

Love this place ever since I saw it featured on California's Gold. After a long drive from Los Angeles, this spot is the best to have a hearty meal. The smell of firewood and smoked meat while the sound of the birds and trees is simply perfect. And dont miss going in the summertime... they have live music playing. Love it!
