Ciccio Mio Chicago Reviews from The Last Year

It's an upscale Italian restaurant with delicious food and very good wine. We had the Caesar salad and the truffle mozzarella sticks as an antipasto and it was mouthwatering. We also had the gnocchi and then a special lobster ravioli, which was super delicious. My favorite though was the tiramisu. This one is probably the best I've ever had. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The decor was beautiful.

Oh wow this place is splendid, particularly the interior! It's dark, the walls and floors are clad in wood, the lighting is comforting, and there are beautiful frames and art hung all over the place. The food and drinks are wonderful, though some of the food items I think are good but not outstanding. I would recommend the burrata, which comes with delicous bread. The vodka pasta was stellar, the chicken parm is delicous, and I'd also recommend the pavlova and tiramisu for dessert if you have room. The king salmon was pretty bland and underwhelming and the rolled lasagna was fine--I just expected more. The service is on point. Reservations you have to pay a reservation fee that does NOT go towards your bill, which is disappointing and obnoxious. Overall it's a great place and you'll have a lovely time, but I wouldn't recommend spending too much effort finding a reservation or table (they can be hard to come by and walk-ins are almost impossible in my experience, at least during most dinner times).

The italian food here is better than all italian food i ate in Boston. Chicago food is next level. The general manager was the one that served us. Amazing person. even though i was celebrating my lady's birthday, i think the real celebration started when i put the food in my mouth. I made better sounds than i make in my bedroom during sexy time. Maybe i can become a sexy scene voice actor.

Ciccio Mio was one of the best dining experiences I have
Ciccio Mio was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. The entry foyer greets you with sultry vibe with a plush sofa and walls lined with bottles of wine. It is a great sitting area for those waiting for a table and an introduction to the overall ambience of the restaurant. The dining area has a throwback setting that is warm, elegant, and inviting. The decor and low lighting is reminiscent of an a classic small speakeasy filled with velvet banquette seating and leather chairs, adding to the intimate experience. The perfect soundtrack of music was playing at a level that was a lovely addition to the overall feel without being loud and distracting. My wife and I loved that it was small and intimate with great acoustics which kept it quiet enough to have good dinner conversation. We dined with another couple and started with Antipasti of Burrata and Truffle Mozzerella Sticks, both of which were delicious. Our entrees consisted of Spicy Vodka Rigatoni, Orecchiette Pugliesi, and Lasagna Bolognese Rotolo. We paired the food with 2 bottles of Italian reds. All of the entrees had amazing flavors. Some lasagna can be very heavy but this was light, creamy, and not at all filling. It was an amazing take on a classic. The waitstaff was well dressed, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. My wife ordered a special of Lobster Ravioli and the server told her she was in luck because they only had one left. He returned a short time later and apologetically informed her that the last one had just been served and the offered her a free entree of her choosing. Of our 3 evening and lunch dining experience in Chicago, (all at Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants) Ciccio Mio was head and shoulders above the others and was a prefect dining experience.

We wanted to try a fancy restaurant since we are from out of town and the ambience in this place is at 10 out of 10. I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a nice date night reservations to go very quickly so just be sure to set an alarm to schedule a reservation as soon as the date opens we were able to get a very nice table inside. Our server was extremely professional and hospitable. He answered all of our questions and made great recommendations. We had the braised beef, short ribs with polenta, and I have to say that it is some of the best beef I've ever tried. We also had the lasagna which was delicious. People were wearing a mix of attire. Some people came in jeans and tennis shoes others were dressed up a little bit more so I would say dressy casual would probably be your best option.

NEW FAV !!! If you haven't been, you must do yourself a favor. First of all, get the burrata. They import it weekly from Italy and you can taste the difference. Second, you can't go wrong with this menu and I highly recommend doing courses and sharing because you must try as much as possible. The patio is cute but the inside of the restaurant is stunning...intimate and romantic - perfect for a date night or anniversary. Will be back. 10/10.

I really wanted to not like this place because of their ridiculous 2.50 cent per person reservation charge, but yet I did. Gorgeous small intimate setting as we walked in. We had two servers essentially taking drinks and food orders. Lots of gluten free options. Started with a classic Belvedere martini but they had a number of enticing choices on the menu including a Milano Cosmo Started with a Ceaser Salad for the table that was made with some chips instead of croutons. Very yummy. I had the Ricotta Gnocchi which was good. My favorite of the dishes I tasted was the Paccheri Alla Norma, which had an eggplant based pasta but it didn't taste anything like eggplant. For dessert we had the pavlova and gelato with Almond cookie. The latter was my favorite. Pavlova was pretty but mostly just vanilla gelato with some cookies. Overall.. great great service and great great food. Will see if we can get a reservation for my next visit. Definitely on my list of all time favorites
I adore this place.
The 1920s vibe is so spot on and I could literally go just to sit there. Of course it's pretty difficult to get it but the 9-915pm reservations are usually available. The food is amazing. We always get the sage gnocchi, the spicy vodka rigatoni, and a shrimp dish. Don't leave without trying the ice cream ! Bes
Love the ambience of this place they're only about 10
Love the ambience of this place they're only about 10 tables so you need to get a reservation right when they open up luckily, we snagged one the day of but it was at a earlier time at 5 PM. It's pretty dark inside, but it just adds to the ambience of it Was so good and really fluffy and light. It came with whipped ricotta, which was delicious. The spicy rigatoni was really good, but it was not spicy at all for dessert. We got the cannellini which was good and it was filled with hazelnut cream. We also got the almond cookie gelato, which was really big and had such a strong almond flavor, which I enjoyed, this is a great date night spot and would love to be able to come back

Ciccio Mio is small, I HIGHLY recommend that you make a reservation. This spot is very cozy and the staff were fantastic. I had the spicy vodka rigatoni and it was so good, very flavorful and it was a spice level that I could handle (I'm a wimp when it comes to spice). The bread they give you before your meal is SO GOOD. I really enjoy that they have mocktails, I had a phony negroni and it tasted like the real thing. I really enjoyed the decor, the staff were all very attentive and the food was fantastic. It's also close to the metro, which was another added bonus.
The bread was absolutely incredible.
I would give the bread itself a 9.83/10. Only took that much of a point off because it did hurt the top of my mouth once or twice but so worth it honestly. Please get the bread!!! You won't regret it!!!

Ambiance: Super amazing, felt like a blast to the past with all the vintage/old paintings and photos on the wall. Dim light, very romantic, music playing softly in the background, real candles, and velvet seating. Service: Katie did a fantastic job with taking our orders. Very polite, accommodating, and reasonably attentive to our needs. They consistently kept our table clear of empty plates and gave us new silverware between courses. Food: Everything tasted great. Appetizer was Foccacia and it was a very good garlic cheesy bread that had this whipped ricotta cheese that we added a ton of to on each bite. Chicken parm had a generous amount of sauce, chicken tasted juicy and the breading had some crunch/crisp to it. The spicy rigatoni was not spicy at all, but the amount of flavorful deliciousness made up for it tremendously. Definitely the top entree of the table. Last, but certainly not least, the vesuvio potatoes. When I tell you that these are the best potato side my wife and I ever had in our lives, you better believe it. We asked for it extra crispy, and man, did they deliver! They added chicken flavoring to it, so each potato was oozing flavor. Even the potato skin alone tasted fantastic. It did get salty at the bottom, but that's to be expected because of all of the flavor. Cannoncini tasted awesome, reminding us both of a ferrero rocher and the hot fudge complimented it perfectly. The quality of the gelato is out of this world. We are thinking it was because it's soft served, and it looks like a tall amount, but we went through it quick! Then there's the Tiramisu, extremely delicious. Strong tiramisu flavor in a mousse texture/form. I had the need for more bites that I intended, for sure.
Every Hogsalt restaurant is good, but Cicco Mio is special.
You'll need to get a reservation in advance as there's very little room for walk-ins. Given the Italian theme, I recommend trying the pastas. The vodka rigatoni and truffle bucatini were fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to order again. We also split the antipasti board and were quite pleased. Honestly my favorite part was the Cosmo I had to drink. So often in Chicago I get overly syrupy cranberry cosmos, but this one was fresh and tasty. I'd go back for that alone! Their Cosmo on the menu has Campari so I ordered without.
This will always be my favorite Italian joint in Chicago.
Great service, the servers are amazing. the best chicken parmesan Ive had. Spicy Rigatoni a delicious go to. Drinks and dessert 10/10 The vibe is very comfortable yet elegant with the perfect amount of lighting and cozy red velvet couches.

Is good but not worth the effort of fighting to get a reservation. The food here was pretty good, but not as good as some of the other hogsalt restaurants (bavettes or gilt bar). All the pastas we got were pretty good. They were all well-made and were perfectly textured. From the pastas, my favorite was the vodka pasta. The flavor was really good. For the dessert we got the tiramisu and it was extremely mediocre. Not really much flavor or texture. I wish ciccio mio had the same desserts as bavettes or gilt bar. There's no point in going with an Italian themed dessert menu if you don't execute well. Was disappointed enough by the tiramisu that I grabbed a chocolate cream pie from gilt bar on the way home. The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty similar to the other hogsalt group places, so was dark and cozy. The service was great and attentive.

Ciccio Mio is, unfortunately, worth setting an alarm to remind you to get a resy for. This intimate spot with a charming, old school Italian aesthetic fully nails its execution on ambiance and service categories and I would give it a 4.5 out of 5 on food. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you will be well taken care of. Service was fantastic. My partner and I were able to sit side by side in a booth and take in the ambiance together. We arrived hungry and ready for drinks! I ordered 2 aperol spritzes (normally my summer drink but that's neither here nor there) and my partner ordered a lovely glass of red wine. We ordered the focaccia to start-HUGE. Did not anticipate receiving a loaf but it was really fantastic. We then ordered the spicy vodka rigatoni and it the paccheri alla Norma. Again, VERY large, generous portions. A positive. Quality was fantastic. We've had vodka pasta at home and other establishments but this was truly the best...the noodles were perfectly Al dente, HUGE, lots of sauce. The paccheri alla Norma was smoky, cheesy, and I loved the different pasta shape! I had never had this dish before and it was a pleasant surprise-I would've loved a bit more eggplant but after doing a small amount of research on the dish, it seems Ciccio served it in an authentic manner. Would love to see an eggplant parm option in the future, perhaps! We somehow managed to make room for dessert and we ordered the tiramisu. I did read reviews about it being booze-heavy but I thought I would feel differently for some reason, but alas, it was a bit too boozy for my taste (and I do like booze!) It was a generous portion and beautifully presented but had a bit too strong of an alcoholic taste for me to want to order it again. This was the only 'skip next time' item for me. We never felt rushed, service was wonderful....a nearly perfect experience in my eyes!
I'm not typically one to leave reviews.
But I had to bring this up. The ambiance was beautiful, waitress was lovely, food and drink was delish , BUT when got home to reheat my leftover vodka pasta, I reheated it right out of the container they packaged it in, first bite I bit down on something very rock hard!! Nearly chipped my tooth it hurt so bad. I take it out of my mouth and it's litterally a small stone/ pebble of some kind. Definitely not food matter. I was so disappointed because this place was perfect in every other way. I'm not sure if it was from the spices, the kitchen, the, sauce but my goodness I am disappointed. I thought about calling and asking for my money back but it's not worth the hassle. Ciccio, if you're reading this- please make sure you're looking into quality in the kitchen!! Was a very expensive dish as well- about 40 after my added protein
Great options.
Food and drinks are amazing. All the servers and staff are attentive, nice, personable. The ambiance is out of this world. Unlike any other restaurant & it shows with how fast reservations are booked up!
Awesome food, drinks, and ambience.
A nice Italian restaurant. Can't wait to come back.
