The draw of this restaurant is the location.
It's great to dine by the water with a view of the city. At breakfast, they give out beignets for starters. This is our go to place when we have friends or family in town. The food and service are both top tier! It's a place for people with standards.

Food was great but order Guinness and it was served in a wine glass??? The waiter provided a nonsensical excuse.

Walking through downtown Chicago and not seeing a steakhouse on every block is impossible. With the abundance, picking out which one to go to can be tricky, but we landed on this place due to some random recommendation from the internet. Truth be told, we're pretty happy with it! First, the ambiance is hard to beat. The restaurant is located next to the river, flaunting beautiful views. The restaurant was buzzing, as there were tons of staff and diners. The nice part is that it's appropriate for an elevated dinner, such as date night, but it also welcomes a more casual gathering with family and friends. The staff was amicable and checked on our table at the right pace. Now, here comes the meat. We ordered the porterhouse (24 oz) and the 'Holy Grail,' which is 32 oz bone-in prime rib. For sides, we got the creamed spinach and asparagus. We requested our steak to be medium rare, and they were perfect. The prime rib was fattier, while the porterhouse was meatier--the latter won in our table. Regardless, we really enjoyed the steak! The steaks were served with a side of baked tomato and two sauces (horseradish and bearnaise?). The sauce was good, but I prefer having the steak alone. The bread basket was okay, and the asparagus was decent, but nothing special. The creamed spinach was pretty good, though! Overall, we were very happy with our dinner experience. Price-wise, it's more affordable than other steakhouses of similar caliber.

Now, my favorite steakhouse in Chicago! David and Matt make you feel like you are the only one in the restaurant when they speak to you. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Looking forward to going back to Chicago and enjoying the remodeled and expanded bar.

Chicago Cut exceeded my expectations, which were pretty high. I had heard great things about this place and was happy to get to experience them myself. The overall ambiance was a nice balance of white tablecloth service yet still approachable. One thing of note is that the tables are quite close together. It was a busy Saturday night, and the room was buzzing. A couple times someone bumped into the chair or table, but it didn't cause too much of a disturbance; just noticeably felt the space was a little tight. The service from the beginning was impressive. Knowledgeable, kind, and professional throughout. The cocktails and wine were both delicious. The food was coursed out perfectly and delectable. For starters, the lobstercargot is a must! Read lots of reviews that noted it and they weren't wrong. 6 pieces total so it's perfect for sharing and a great way to kick off the meal. 1/2 dozen west coast oysters paired well with that. For the main courses, medium rare filet and the Chilean sea bass. Both were enjoyable, but the sea bass was actually the standout. Best sea bass I've tried. Not pictured were the whipped potatoes which was a great side to both the steak and fish, and chocolate ganache cake for dessert. Located on the river, the city views are worthy of noting as well. Overall a wonderful experience and would love to go back and try more!

We went here around 4 on a weekend and it was unexpectedly a lot of ppl. We ordered porterhouse ( it was tender) and marinated steak ( tasty but salty). We had drinks and slider for appetizers ( meat was a little bit burnt) Overall, good!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing steakhouse with tons of ambiance.
This was an old school steak house with all the trappings. Big round tables of boisterous business folks, lots of indulgent cuts, and great service.

We went for our 30th wedding anniversary which is also Valentine's day. We were seated right away even though we showed up early. The service was very good. My complaint was with the way they had the tables so crammed together it was hard to get through to the restroom & when we were leaving. We both ordered steaks, the strip steak was good but very fatty. I know they were busy but we were really rushed & told we only get 1.5 hours. I doubt we will ever go back. The bill wasn't worth what we got.

I went to Chicago Cut Steakhouse with a couple of friends in celebration of a birthday on a Friday night. From the start, the ambiance and service were on point. The vibes were what you might expect from an classy steakhouse. City views and even the music were great. Our group made a reservation in advance, and though we were seated a few minutes late, the GM Emidio was gracious enough to give us a little tour and made our experience that much better. He was a lively and charismatic host. Our server and the staff we met were all very helpful and professional. The food was incredible, one of the best steaks I have ever had. Based on the group, the standouts were the Delmonico, and Cajun Ribeye, though I am sure any cut would be fantastic depending on your taste. This was a memorable experience and our group had a very nice night.

Finally got to try Chicago Cut for my birthday dinner with my hubs after many years of aiming to try it. We arrived a little early for our reservation so we sat at the bar for a little. As a pregnant person, I was bummed there was no mocktail menu. The bartenders told me about the "bun in the oven" drink and brought out a glass with bread. I really loved the humor in it, and then one of them made me a surprise mocktail which was very delicious. Would love to see more options for non-drinkers however! The dining room was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Our server was attentive and polite and service all around was a 10 for the night. I got a filet and my husband got the ribeye. We split a few sides that they plated separately for us to have our own serving. They also gave me a birthday dessert on the house that I really appreciated. Overall, had a wonderful dinner here. While I can't say Chicago Cut is my favorite steakhouse in the city, it's still a great restaurant that is always a good option for a special occasion.

Came for NYE and had the best time! We were so lucky to have the most attentive, kind, and fun server named Tony who made our time 10/10. No where else I'd rather spend the holiday at. The food way great, service was amazing, and they had a champagne toast and free music at midnight.

The best service I've had in recent memory! Frank was funny, pleasant, and had great suggestions. Our water glasses were rarely low, and we were never waiting for anyone to come by and assist us. The dining room was a little loud, but we were there on St Paddy's Day and we saw a number of patrons celebrating. The food was great! We got the lobstercargot, French onion soup, parmesan truffle fries, mushrooms, and bone-in ribeye. Our favorite was the lobstercargot, it was indescribably good. Definitely decadent, I could not eat something that rich often. But we were celebrating, so it was the perfect starter! The steak was tasty, but I have had better in the city. Maybe I should have ordered rare instead of medium rare. Everything else was top tier though. We had two cocktails each, and then carrot cake for dessert. All in all, I recommend Chicago Cut. The views from the floor-to-ceiling windows are stellar, and you definitely feel like you're in a classy establishment.

Filet was perfect cooked. Service was great. Flatbread with cheese in bread basket was amazing.

This is a tale of very very different experiences!! Service? Chris was truly outstanding!! Professional and attentive. We asked him to give us his best ideas and the ideas were perfect..appetizers, salads, steak etc. THE FOOD?? WHAT A LET DOWN!! steaks were perfect, first off. Medium is very slightly redder than I'm used to but still excellent. The lobster scargot? The cheese was browned but hard and chewy meaning it was not ready made but probably under a heat lamp. The exact same as the truffled scallop potatoes. There was not any gooey cheese. It was actually hard to chew!!! But browned. My lobster tails were FINGERS!! That's ok but they were overcooked and slightly warmer then room temperature. The carrot cake was cold. I have never had it cold but warmed. Maybe that's ok but I was disappointed. I understand I could have had it warmed. So that's the story! A 10 for ambience and service, and a two or three for quality of food. Outside of the steaks, which were excellent. Too many steak houses in Chicago to go back and say this was a favorite. We will probably move on and try another one.

Came here with my team from work and it was such a great experience! The waiters were great for a medium sized group as they were attentive and provided great service. The seafood tower was loaded and fresh and had the best shrimp I have ever had. The steak was great as well and I am currently convinced this is the best steakhouse in Chicago and definitely somewhere I would recommend to others and come again. The food alone is already beyond what I could've expected, but I really appreciate and am grateful for the staff. I never had an experience with choking and it happened here for the first time where I actually saw my life flash before my eyes and I didn't want to cause a scene or know what to do. I excused myself from the table and was scurrying to the bathroom because I thought I needed to get the heimlich but didn't think I could make it because at that point I couldn't breathe at all. The first person I ran into was Alfredo B. who I tried to motion what was happening which he quickly understood and he swiftly helped me through the situation, remained calm which was comforting, and helped me get situated back to my table like nothing happened. The other staff around were also very supportive and professional and did not make me feel awkward at all while I was going through this experience. Overall a wonderful experience and definitely memorable that my team can joke about lol

We arrived at this classic steakhouse with a large group and felt we were given excellent service as well as a delicious meal. We enjoyed oysters and ceviche to start, which were great. Then the table had a variety of steak, fish and chicken along with Brussel sprouts, potatoes and broccoli. I loved that they split the sides so we each had a bit of them, usually they are just left to be passed around. We were celebrating our anniversary and they very sweetly brought us chocolate cake and peanut butter pie-in serving large enough for the table to share them. My only criticism would be that in an already loud restaurant, the music made hearing even more difficult and the genre of music did not match the vibe of the restaurant. That aside, we had a wonderful time and a terrific meal.

My husband and I had food poisoning from their seafood tower. We contacted them to inform them and they didn't even bother to respond. That shows poor customer service.

Went here last night only to be turned away because my cousins had ripped jeans on. After speaking with the manager she was okay with the jeans. She did let me know that it's their policy but it only applies to the guys. Once that issue was resolved, then the real bs started now my family had been there for 10 minutes before my arrival. Once the jean issue was resolved now the manager started accusing them of smelling like weed and refusing to seat us. We don't even smoke, this almost Ruined my auntie's birthday celebration. I will never eat here again and I will never suggest anyone else eat here. The food isn't that good anyway. Hopefully, they get closed down. Ocean Prime took our reservation and everything was amazing there. My Auntie enjoyed her birthday!
Be the first to ReplyWent to Chicago Cut for a New Years Eve Dinner.
The Chicago River and the view from the restaurant are beautiful. We each ordered a strip steak which costs $76 per steak. I am not a fussy eater but I took 3 bites of the steak and stopped it was tough but worse it was flavorless. After the first bite I added salt and it was still flavorless. When the manager asked how the dinner was we told him our assessment of the steak and he barely addressed it our concern at all. It was New Years eve and we didn't want to make fuss so I waited until the next day and contacted them via email. I never got a response and it's been 7 days. When you eat 3 bits of a $76 steak and don't take a doggy bag home you know it has not been a good experience. Try Babette's-it's yummy.

For those whose wondering about their parking situation: Valet parking is $15This review is 3.5 starsI came with a party of 4 and came 10 min early. My reservation was at 4pm and there was already a bunch of people lined up in the front by the door. Apparently, many others also have a reservation at 4pm but the hostess told us they would seat us at exactly 4pm. It was just really awkward to have everyone stand by the door and everyone was just blocking the entrance. They were actually late sitting us, but it's fine. At this point, we couldn't wait to order!People at my table had mixed feelings about the food but I thought it was good.I had the Miso sea bass and that was delicious! I thought it was the star of the show! Their Cajun rubbed ribeye was delicious. The lobstercargot was the biggest disappointment. It was underwhelming and I could've gone without it. The kale salad was refreshing and I enjoyed their Brussels sprouts. The ribeye however was too fatty for us to enjoy. This wouldn't be my go to steakhouse in Chicago, but you should stop by to try their Cajun rubbed ribeye and their miso sea bass if you've never had it!
