A fine dining experience in Dublin City
There are two restaurants in Dublin City with 2 Michelin Stars; three if you include the suburbs. We dined at Chapter One on the north side across from the Garden of the Remembrance at Parnell Square earlier this month and enjoyed a very lovely dinner. We had many lunches and dinners at Chapter One when we lived in Dublin years ago. It was our favorite restaurant and we dined there often. Martin Corbett, now deceased, was a wonderful host. The food was great, service impeccable, and the atmosphere created by Martin and his staff made you feel very comfortable and most welcome. We continued to dine at Chapter One after Martin retired every time we found ourselves in Dublin. Time goes on; the restaurant closed during COVID and this was our first time at Chapter One since before the pandemic. It has a new team. I am delighted to say that it is still a fantastic restaurant. The venue, great food, very fine staff and the atmosphere created by Martin years ago is still there. That is not to say that the restaurant is unchanged. Martin held One Star; Michael Viljanen has earned two. There are now two prix fixe menus—one with four courses, another with six. We chose four; the diner picks the first and last of the four-course option. We loved each, and frankly, I don’t think we could have eaten six courses. I confess that we did have the optional cheese plate at the end of our dinner. The wine list was very nice and presented a good many options at different price points. The difference between Chapter One then and now is that the dishes require more work to create a very fine medley of tastes. I don’t want to say “more sophisticated,” but I guess that would be correct. Dining there now is not just having a lovely dinner at a fine restaurant but enjoying a culinary “event.” We will return. I thought the price/value ratio was fair--given that we had cocktails to start, the dinner, a fine but not expensive bottle of wine, and later cheese accompanied by port. The tab was about € 750.00 (or about US$ 800.00) for my spouse and me. I think for many people this will not be their most frequented restaurant (as was the case in the old days for us), but a place to celebrate an event. For us it was a wonderful anniversary. We had the good fortune to dine at the kitchen table—and that made it even more special.
A once in a lifetime meal
This was the best dining experience we've ever had. The food creations are unique but at the same time familiar. The sauces were perfection. Excellent wine list. The staff is top notch and they go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect.
Very expensive, so a big decision and worth every penny
Sublime. Top of their game, Irish hospitality at its best and relaxed assured cookery and sommelier. Loved the whole experience from start to finish, important that the tables are populated by Irish people who have saved and waited for this experience and not just wealthy tourists
Unsurpassed culinary experience!
We were on vacation in Dublin staying at the K Club when we ran into Mickael at a local pub. We struck up a conversation and he modestly invited us to a Chef’s Dinner at his restaurant. Little did we know we met a culinary Picasso. From the charming Manager, our delightful server Manuel, the bartender, Sommelier- this establishment is over the top. You will think you’ve died and gone to foodie heaven!
Wow wow wow!!!
Start to finish this isn’t “dinner”. It is an all round experience. Staff are blue chip quality and genuinely the best hospitality staff I’ve ever encountered. Fabulous and sensational doesn’t begin to cover it. As for the food. Wow wow wow!! Spectacular!!! This was a once in a lifetime meal but omg I wish I could eat here every night! Phenomenal food and the staff are magical. Can’t recommend the “chefs table” enough!! Book well in advance and do it!! It’s an unbelievably memorable experience!
Amazing dining experience
We had a wonderful evening in Chapter One. The food was the best ever starting with the wow canapes.. ! such attention to detail in flavours, textures, presentation across all courses. The atmosphere is lovely and we were so well looked after by the fabulous staff. Such a treat :)

Birthday Dinner at Chapter one
Went here to celebrate my Dads birthday and it was good. The staff were lovely. The food was nice except I wish they could’ve been bigger portions. The place was clean. The service was quick. It was quite expensive.
Excellent but……
The pluses-great ambience, lovely surroundings, excellent service (practically a waiter each), nice maitre d’ and sommelier, professional and well trained wait staff, great cocktails. So a lovely evening had by all and the time taken from arrival to leaving is perfect. No one rushing you to leave the table. A few minor observations that did not detract from our overall experience; - tea and coffee not included in €160 menu - lobster on the tough/undercooked side, in my opinion -veal sweetbread as a main is mis judged I feel. Slightly uncomfortable with veal as a meat though not a vegan or vegetarian and I feel a protein like duck, chicken, beef, pork or fish would appeal to a broader cross section of diners. -breads served throughout the meal. I like my bread at the start and I like butter served with bread. (It was not served with 2/3 of the breads) We appreciate the effort involved in running a restaurant of this standard and also appreciate the talents of the personnel involved. Amazing Experience
Chapter One has been on my wish list for some time, having been there many years back before the current chef Mickael Viljanen moved there. I messaged offering some dates that would work for me and went on the wait list. Luckily I got that call! Everything is perfection. The space, the service, the art, the attention to detail and of course the food. I choose the a la carte menu (I had expected to opt for the tasting menu beforehand) because it allowed me have scallops and lobster as two dishes amongst others. I dont think either of those were on the tasting menu. Obviously dining at this level is not an everyday event but it is an amazing experience if you can. I must say that service was very professional and well executed but in the little chats as they served, you will find that there is a normal and friendly side too.
Exquisite
We went for lunch at Chapter One and from the moment we entered the restaurant to when we left, we were transformed into culinary heaven. The restaurant decor and ambience, the welcoming service staff, the creative food, the attention to details, the artistry of food presentation was all delivered with perfection and to highest of standards. One of my most memorable dining experiences. Thank you Chapter One for being in Dublin!

Lives up to its reputation
As you would expect from a restaurant with 2 Michelin stars, the food, service and overall experience were exceptional. While it is still only February, I doubt we’ll have a better experience in any other restaurant during 2024. However, it is often small things that differentiate a restaurant and there were three that stood out for us. Firstly, having eaten in many Michelin star restaurants, this is the first time that we have been asked if we would like the pacing of courses to be slowed up or down. This highlights the service levels at Chapter One. Secondly, while tasting menus are great, there are times when you want something simpler. I love the fact that, in addition to a tasting menu. Chapter One offers a 4 course menu with a choice of starters and desserts. Finally, the wine list is fairly priced with lots of different price points. Too often, high quality restaurants keep their menu price down by charging extortionate amounts for wine. In the case of Chapter One, the balance seems to be much better – the food is not cheap but the wine is fairly priced. You still end up with the same bill but you no longer have the feeling of having paid way over the odds for an average bottle of wine. Overall, a fantastic experience and well worth the money.

From start to finish the night was perfect, the staff couldn’t be more attentive and the food was second to none, and will hope to make it an annual visit.

The best meal I’ve had all my life!
We expected the best and even still our expectations were massively exceeded! Our server Declan was so charming and knew every part of the menu back to front. He was a huge part of making our experience so amazing. The food isn’t just food -it’s art. Every piece is carefully made and so intricate -and absolutely delicious. The best meal I’ve ever had in my 31 years. Huge thanks to Declan and the rest of the staff at Chapter One. We will certainly be straight back for our next family occasion. 10/10 couldn’t recommend enough!
Amazing experience
Once you walk down the steps you are greeted and welcomed in the restaurant You feel so welcomed and comfortable with all the staff I couldn’t mention how great the night was with my partner and the dinner was absolutely amazing we got the 4 course dinner menu and we got 3 canapés before starting our menu and was absolutely blowing away how good the presentation and food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were just amazing they were always there for help if needed explain everything that was served and was always there for anything I will definitely be back thank you for an amazing night to the chefs and staff yous are amazing
Chapter One was good but I expected better.
The restaurant comprises a number of rooms in a basement level, with mostly modern decor except for some exposed old stone walls. It has white table cloths, art on the walls, and lighting that makes the dishes at your table look like works of art themselves. I liked the decor but I found it a little spare and not particularly interesting. We got the tasting menu with wine pairing, which was six courses plus canapes and three bread courses. All of the courses were very good but had some room for improvement. For one, they overused citrus flavors, which was present in at least half the dishes; in particular, I did not care for the citrus in the lobster dish. Also, I was very disappointed in the bread courses: one was a very basic milk bread and another was very basic white rustic bread -- snooze on both counts. The service was pretty good overall. For example, staff briefly explained each dish and our wine pairings, they folded napkins when we got up to use the restroom, they put dishes on our table in unison. One exceptional part: when we ordered the wine pairing, the sommelier told us how many glasses we would get, with which courses, and what sizes (half or full). This is something I wish more restaurants would do, so you can pace your drinking better with the food courses. But there were two pieces that could have been better. First, the sommelier's accent and the loud (at times) volume in the room made it impossible to understand some of the wine descriptions. Second, I told them it was a special occasion when they emailed me to confirm my reservation, and they didn't acknowledge this at all -- no verbal mentions, no card, etc. Literally nothing. This is table stakes at a high caliber restaurant. So, a good meal overall, but I would say they are more at the one Michelin star level.
Birthday meal
Still one of the best restaurants in Kent as far as food service and value for money. We have been going to different restaurants in the area and some of them are really good but chapter one is our favourite

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
