Second time was not the charm
Had dinner here on a Tuesday night but we were very disappointed with the service. Sadly we were celebrating two anniversaries and we reserved a month in advance to avoid any hiccups. Host Ryan was great and did give us nice table although we had to wait maybe 15 minutes. Bar and drinks also great. Food overall good but service was not. Our server had too many tables and would disappear for a long while leaving us without plates for appetizers and flatware. We were here last year and because service was so great then we came back but not the case this year. We ordered a few appetizers first two came relatively quickly but sushi took almost an hour into our reservation. We had to ask server if it was still coming. Then once it did arrive we had no plates and server was nowhere to be found. He didn’t check on us at all until we were done. We placed dinner order which also took very long again we had to ask why the delay and he had no clue. We know all restaurants this time of year are busy and some delays are expected but how the server handles that delay is what matters. At this point we didn’t even want to stay for dessert so we paid and left. We truly regret coming here on such a special occasion when we could have gone to one of the many other options in town. We won’t be returning.
Be the first to ReplyABSOLUTE MISTEAK!!!
Truly a horrible experience. Everything was disgusting to say the least except for a $104 filet we ordered. I would never go back and would never go to another Catch restaurant again, mark my words. The lobster sushi roll had what I believe was part of the lobster shell in it and took me a minute to remove it from my tooth. I mentioned it to the waiter who couldn’t care less. However, this incident didn’t compel to write this negative review…the unappetizing food did.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing visit to Catch Aspen
We were excited to visit Catch Aspen as we have has such great meal in Las Vegas & NYC. We had scheduled private shopping at Gucci and went directly to dinner as they are next door. The atmosphere was great and we were celebrating an Anniversary. We ordered cocktails and upon arrival I inquired about the "empty olives"? I always get the Catch martini as I love the blue cheese stuffed olives. The waiter said "Sorry we are out of blue cheese". Next we order caviar service and we told the that was unavailable. We settled on a Wedge salad to start and it arrived minus the blue chhese crumbles. We mentioned to the waiter that we disliked the taste and he said "no problem" and removed and returned with it boxed and in a large Catch bag that he sat on the table. We sat it on the floor. The entree came and the Truffle butter filet was fine, the Prime 12oz bone in Filet arrived on two plates. The steak on one plate and the bone on another??? The 12 oz was ordered medium rare and came medium well. At this point we decided to call it a loss and just asked for the check. We rarely saw the waiter. We did see a ton of support staff. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment. I think all restaurant, high-end or not are usually transparent. Let you know immediately if they are out of item, specials, etc. This did not happen and certainly no discount or alternative was offered. We are still at a loss as to why the 12oz steak came with the bone on a separate plate. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. We are in Aspen 4 times a year and there are so many great restaurants that offer amazing service and are transparent. We tipped our 20% and said thanks!

Extremely loud, service is weak and food is ok. Won’t be coming back. However, I wish we sat outside so it’s not so loud. My drink was great 👍
Be the first to ReplyFUN spot for dinner to meet all of your needs!
This is hands down my favorite spot in Aspen. They menu has everything from sushi, steak, fish and even vegan options. It’s big open space with outdoor dining and magnificent views. The service from the second you walk in is tops and they work as a team! Fun fun vibe and mix of people.

I’m writing this review while I’m still at the restaurant! Plates stayed in the table 15 mins after we finished. Drinks were slow to come to the table. The ambiance not great. The food nothing out of this World-but prices sky high. We are used to Aspen prices but it’s ok when they come accompanied with good food. That was not the case here.
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing night out!
This was probably one of the best dinners we had in Aspen. The steaks were amazing (we had the wagyu and the wagyu tasting). The sides were also very good and the Caesar salad was wonderful. The drinks were also great...the martini was awesome! I would like to go back to try different items as I am sure they will be equally as good.

Food was pretty good but timing was off. This is not an intimate set up. It's somewhat loud, we ordered appetizers and they brought 4 out at once and the table was log jammed, then waited for entrees. Tables are somewhat close to one another. Definitely a place to be seen and the food is expensive (of course everything in Aspen is mountain priced). Not my favorite meal but food was good. Had better attentive service at Almresi. Ordered a cocktail near end of meal and it was brought out after I was finished so had to slam it so we could leave. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals but again timing was totally off for bringing out plates.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Meal, Amazing Steak
I was stuck in Aspen due to weather after the rest of my group went home. I wanted to find a nice, upscale meal - and concierge at my hotel, the Gant, recommended Catch Steak. I am from Kansas City and have very high standards for steak. From beginning to end, I felt welcomed as a solo diner. Server Josh and Sommelier Aubrey made wonderful recommendations and were so attentive - I never felt rushed. Oysters on the half shell followed by the Cowgirl Ribeye which Aubrey recommended, plus truffle fries. One of the best steaks I have ever eaten, an unforgettable meal in a beautiful place.

Complete failure of service from beginning of evening. Started with being seated 30 minutes post reservation time. Then 20 minutes before waiter showed up. And finally 1 hour and 1/2 before food arrived. No one seemed to care including GM. I would not recommend to anyone.

Incredible experience. General Manager Mary Swanson really did an excellent job. Food is amazing and I’ll be back over and over ! Great vegan menu.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t visit this restaurant! Terrible!!!
If you are looking to spend a fortune and get treated terribly, Catch is the place for you. We had an 8:45pm reservation last night. The entire meal was incredibly rushed. Our waiter, Jazz insisted we quickly order all of our food at the same time. Before we had a chance to finish our appetizers- the next course was brought to the table. We asked for the service to slow down and we were then told by the female assistant manager that we had been at our table too long. Jazz added that we were eating into his time - I guess he wanted to go out or something. We were so frustrated that we sarcastically said “if we are taking too long, maybe you should just box up the rest of our meal.” Instead of immediately apologizing- they actually boxed up our meal!!! I cannot remember a worse experience at a fine dining establishment. The service was the absolute worst. I have been treated better at a McDonald’s. We will not be back. Our entire party of six will actually actively tell people not to eat here.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, staff, and entire experience
It was our last night in Aspen and we wanted it to be memorable. We were not disappointed. The friendly tall young man in a black suit greeted us, spoke in his ear piece, and quickly got us a table. Wooden ceiling beams dangled industrial metal chandeliers that were dimly lit, but guided us through an elegant dining room, passing the marble top counter wooden bar that was decorated with rows of globe ceiling lights. The restaurant was packed with classy dressed guests, so we were expecting to sit in a small tiny area in the corner. To our surprise, we were escorted to the beautiful balcony that overlooks the mountains and glowed with a large outdoor fireplace. We were then seated in a spacious corner booth that gave us a perfect view of the entire balcony. The night grew darker as the crescent moon shined brighter. It was a very chilly evening. Luckily the large heater disguised as huge black fancy floor lamps was turned on to keep us warm. We were greeted by our wonderful and nice waitress, Caterina. While admiring the excellent options in their wine list, the somalia, Aubrey, came by to introduce herself. We already came in knowing what bottle of wine we wanted and we were so excited they offered it. The bottle of Bond (blue) sat at our table poured in a decanter while three tea light candles helped illuminate the white table cloth. Catarina was very knowledgeable about my gluten allergy and guided me through the menu with ease. I never tasted a Caesar salad like this before. It was so good with a creative presentation. It came on a decorative plate with four thick, nicely sized crispy gem lettuce pieces topped with aged Parmesan, lightly drizzled with their Caesar dressing and garnished with a soft boiled egg sliced in half. You will need a fork and knife to cut and eat each bite of deliciousness. The four large sizzling shrimp were presented on a small hot skillet sizzling with orange lobster sauce lightly splashing on the white plate underneath. We were intrigued by the option for the “flight of three” of Japanese Wagyu. We each had an order as we were told each piece was 2 oz each. A young man came by with a plate of thinly sliced pieces of Wagyu. He described each one as he gently laid each raw piece on the large black rectangular hot rock. After each piece was cooked to perfection, they were placed on our white plates. The beef was pre-seasoned. Each bite was a moan of exquisite bursting flavor. This was the most delicious and most tender beef I have ever tasted. It melted in your mouth and the heavenly taste had a long finish waiting to be coated with a sip of full-bodied Bond wine. The snow beef was our favorite over the olive beef and true A5 Kobe beef, but all were perfect in taste and texture. 9 restaurants in the country have this particular Japanese Wagyu and Catchsteak in Aspen has it. You have to try the Japanese Wagyu. You will not regret. We shared the 8 oz American Wagyu filet that was cut into pieces without disturbing the full shape and seasoned with salt and pepper. Having it precut allowed it to be shared easily and to also see each piece cooked medium rare to our satisfaction. Each bite was again cooked to perfection with wonderful flavor. An order of the simple mashed potatoes sprinkled with chives and pepper was presented in a small copper pot with a handle. This was smoothly whipped with butter and complimented our meal well. For dessert they had gluten free snickers baked Alaska. I could not help but clap and lightly scream under my breath when they poured fire with a blue glow and also the snicker sauce on top of the ice cream cake with brown meringue. This is never an option with my allergy, so I was tickled to be able to try this. Believe me, even if you’re full, you must try this. It was sweet and chocolaty. After our meal, sweet Aubrey came back to our table and gave us her card. We exchanged numbers and she recently reached out to us after our Aspen trip. Such a nice touch. Thank you ! Before the night was over, Davis Cress introduced himself to us to make sure our experience was satisfactory. We were so happy to share that we had the best evening with the help of his friendly team and it was sealed with his humble and gracious presence at the end. The night was filled with magic that we will never forget. The entire night we were treated as though we were their most special guest from the moment we walked in until the end. There is nothing special about us, but the entire staff made us feel so welcomed and important. You can tell each staff member love where they work. We have no doubt that they will treat you the same. Thank you to the entire team at Catch Steak in Aspen. You made this couple so happy!!!
Be the first to ReplyWe loved our time at Catch Steak!
We had a family visit to Aspen and lucked out by getting a reservation at Catch Steak. The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was great. It was on the expensive side, for sure. But for a special meal, this one hit the mark. (The only suggestion I have is that if you order steak, and you really want it to be cooked medium, ask for medium well -- because medium came out basically very rare. Otherwise, the meals for our table were great.)

Arrive approximately 528 for a 530 reservation and it took about seven minutes before the two persons in the coatcheck room or three people behind the Hostess station acknowledged the four in my party or the five in the party who were also arriving at the same time. We were taken to our table by someone very friendly. Our waitress provided good service. For some reason, there was a desire by the wait staff, who were all dressed in black bottoms and white tops of some sort, no ties and no indication as to Interest in their physical appearance, repeatedly would place the candle and water bottle at the edge of the table between two of the people at one of the four chosen corner locations. We repeatedly moved the water and candle back to the center of the table to prevent ourselves from knocking these things off and repeatedly the wait staff would move them back into one of the other positions of favor. This is despite having requested that they stop this. Wine was over priced as it is in all Aspen restaurants. We requested it be decanted because of high tannins, they utilized an attractive Mickey Mouse decanter with about 6 square cm of liquid surface area. When we requested that they stop pouring wine for one of the party who did not want to continue drinking wine, this appeared to offend the Sommelier who no longer poured our wine and let the waitress do his job. Nonetheless , several of the food items were excellent. However, the taste of the food did not negate the sense of dissatisfaction with service and attitude at this restaurant. On the other hand, although I miss Piñons which was in Aspen for 33 years, the replacement restaurant, Casa D’Angelo was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Aspen over the past half century. Look for this restaurant to be gone in 5 years.
Be the first to ReplyRancid and Under-Cooked Steaks
This was my fourth and last visit to Catch Steak Aspen. Their music is always too loud, making it very difficult to converse over dinner. Two of us ordered the $98 Imperial Wagyu Filet, which the menu touts as "Best filet in America." My wife ordered the salmon. Both steaks were quite rancid! The manager tried to convince us that nothing was wrong with the beef, that some people just don't like Wagyu. I told him I frequently cook Wagyu at home, and I have enjoyed this particular Wagyu entre at Catch in the past. This time the meat was simply old and rotten. They offered to cook us 2 new steaks. I choose the Bone-In Cowgirl Ribeye, cooked medium. They delivered it so rare that most of the meat was blue, and it was also very rancid. I left without eating any of my entre. So did my wife because her salmon smelled "fishy." Perhaps the chef had COVID and couldn't smell how rancid the beef and fish were.
