I haven't been to this restaurant in about five years and when I did come here, I couldn't stop thinking about the beef enchiladas. They just had this amazing flavor that I could never replicate at home so I was very excited to come back. Unfortunately, the food was much better five years ago. it wasn't bad, it just wasn't as amazing as I remembered it. They bring you chips, salsa, and a bean dip. The bean dip had an off taste to it, like it was old or something. The salsa didn't have much flavor and no spice at all. The chips however, were light and crispy, and some thing I look forward to when I go to Mexican restaurant. We had the Carne Asada plate, which was very delicious. The tortillas are made fresh, but you only get two tortillas with your meal, had to ask for more. I give the Carne Asada plate and nine out of 10. We also had beef enchiladas, which were flavorless & the beans had that weird taste to it like it was old. The service was good, our server do not speak great English, we tried to ask her which dish was more popular, the Carne Asada, and another dish and she could not understand what we were asking. Super sweet and checked on us a few times. Manager also checked on us a couple times. The restaurant is decorated with lots of pictures, colorful, decorations, and very festive . They have outdoor seating. I would come back and try something new, but I am sad that the beef enchiladas are just not what they used to be .

This place is GREAT! Second time here, service is impeccable. Food is warm, served in a timely manner, and incredibly delicious! The garlic tilapia is out of this world! My husband had the chicken and shrimp fajitas, absolutely loved them! You can't go wrong at this place, affordable, great food with awesome service!
Be the first to ReplyFood is always amazing.
I've been back so many times with friends and family. Service is always friendly and quick. The food is great and caters to all. Great safe place to bring whoever and that they can find something to enjoy. We've constantly enjoy a beer preperada or a margarita. The piña colada comes in an actual pineapple! Great place to come to guarantee a great meal

We've been to Casa Don Juan a dozen of times in the past and were excited to have good food. Particularly, the unlimited chips/salsa and beans is a common thing for most Mexican restaurants we've been to but we always go here because of the really good food. For some reason this time around we were told we'd be charged for extra for both the chips and the salsa (and that we had to order an appetizer to get the free chips), and it's inconsistent with the service I got exactly a month ago when I went with friends, and all the other times, where the chips/salsa were free of charge. Not to mention our server Nuvia was rude about handling the situation; When we asked her about getting more chips, she just told us the price without any sense of customer service. Warning to those of you who are thinking of eating here: the service is becoming inconsistent. From now on I'll take my business elsewhere and inform friends/family about it.

Went on Easter Sunday to have two drinks but couldn't take with so enjoyed on the patio. Asked for a side of guacamole for our baby. Waiting soo long for service and perhaps would have ordered another drink but no one came so decided to leave. Continued to wait for our server. As I looked over I can see the other table next to us irritated with the service as their drinks were empty and they were done eating. Finally we walked up to the counter and asked for our bill Saw our server go to the other table to.deliver their drinks but not buss their table which I can tell they were annoyed. Anywho Continued to.wait and wait with my fussy 16 month old. Finally our server came and gave us the check which had charged us for an app guac instead of a side. Usually I wouldn't even care but we were upset it took forever and felt we shouldn't have to pay for something we didn't ask for. Finally after informing us of the quantity differences like it was necessary to.do so he got the Manger. When the manager came she was extremely cold and not friendly. No sorry for the convince for waiting or anything. She tried to say that because the server been employed there awhile we must be wrong and not telling the truth. It was ridiculous. After going back and forth and oh also the server said I the wife was never there which was a lie and very odd. My husband said regardless of how it was "ordered " the server should make sure we wanted the app or side (Even tho we did say side ) Finally the lady goes I agree and than says here and hands us the bill Extremely Rude to do. She had just took off the guac whish again wasn't what we asked we just wanted it to he what we ordered and fair. Bill was 10.50 and my husband gave her 20. To keep the change. Than she asked oh let me give you change. No it's fine keep the Change he said We left unhappy and annoyed Probably won't go back even tho we are locals super awkward
Be the first to ReplyMy niece was craving pozole and found this place on Yelp.
We called and learned the dish is only served on the weekends. So Sunday, while in Vegas we placed an order and drove over. The restaurant is in a cute part of town. There is limited parking. Thankfully I was able to double park while she ran in but there was a long wait despite being told the order would be ready in 10 minutes. So was it worth the wait... YES! I've never had this dish before but it was Delicious!! I took away one star only because the pork was really fatty and I struggled to find a piece without tons of fat. They should butcher the meat better. But otherwise it was good. The portion size was large and plentiful for 2-3 people as a meal and maybe more if you have it as a soup entree with more food. My niece kept wanting to go back but we left town before the next weekend.

Where do I begin? I will start with the good! The manager Wally was so nice, and totally understanding. I hope the owner appreciates Wally, he is the heart of his establishment. He and the food deserve 5 stars! The bad! The waitress, I believe her name was Ana Segovia. Ana was super rude, disrespectful, and demeaning not only to us, but the family sitting directly behind us. We asked to speak to the manager and so did the the other family. after speaking with Wally, we were ready to give the place a try, but she stood there and glared at us, For the duration of our meal. Food is good and I hope she understands, to treat her customers right. If I owned casa Don Juan, I wouldn't feel like she Was an asset to the establishment.

I got the burrito mojado and the red sauce tasted like canned tomatoes for spaghetti sauce. I ordered a small side of habanero salsa and they charged me $4. Charged me for a small side of sour cream. Automatically charge 18% tip to the check and our waiter only came once !!!! They charge a lot for stuff that is free at other Mexican restaurants. Beyond ridiculous. I'm sure if I ordered a side of cilantro I would of been charged $20 bucks. Your better off getting street tacos. And save your self a lot of money.

Stay clear of this dump, I just had the worst burrito in my life, so bad I couldn't even finish it. We ordered 3 beef burritos and got some mess of rice beans and beef jerky that was so awfully tasting I Could even finish it. When I called, the manager and complained the price I was charged was different than what was on their website, he claimed the website I ordered from was a different company. ( a different company with the same phone number, address and menu items) then he claimed his location was different because of different owners, but after I looked them up with the secretary of state, all 3 locations are owned by the same owners. anyway this location had the worst tasting foul burrito I have ever eaten. The shredded beef was dry and tasted as if it was wiped of the floor.

Food was outstanding! We had the carnitas! Highly recommend! I had the the pork tamale, shredded beef taco and Chile relleno. All the dishes were amazing! Flavorful and seasoned well. We also had a taste of the mole. It was flavorful also. 1 margarita was enough to drive, 2 would've put me over the top! Don't miss this gem in the Arts District! Music was nice. Not too loud. The lady making the tortillas was cute! Home made is here!! We will be back! Sorry it came so fast we didn't get any pictures.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good.
Drinks were ok. My only problem was the fajitas came with two tortillas. When we asked for additional tortillas, we received however, two additional tortillas were $4. Seriously? The fajitas were already $28. Also felt like they were turning and burning. Definitely won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyCasa Don Juan is amazing.
It's been a minute since I had had good, authentic Mexican food and CDJ definitely did it for me. We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely temps along with beers and margs. Our server Javier was on point also. Very attentive, made great recommendations also. The guacamole was delicious; as was the Pollo Mole and Chilaquiles. Next time you're in Vegas and want to get off the strip, check this place out!!
Be the first to ReplyThis place hit the spot!First time to Casa Don Juan.
We arrive on Saturday at 5pm. We had 4 in our party and checked in. They stated it would be a 5 min. wait but they came back right away and sat us. Really cute atmosphere with them also making fresh tortilla. The chips, salsa, and bean dip to die for. Margaritas are delicious and they had a full bar as well. The meals are hearty and loaded full of meat. We ordered the carne asada, street tacos, and beef burrito. The portions are large and we had a lot of food to take home. Service is friendly and helpful. Family friendly and is good for small and large groups. You can park on the street but may have to pay. Casa Don Juan has customer parking behind the building and they had many spot available for free.

Frida fans take note! This place in the Arts District is a must for fans of the Mexican icon, as the staff take you back to early 20th century Mexico, evoking the life and style of Ms Kahlo. The menu is huge, and you can choose from a taco to a family feast, carnitas to camarones served up as salad, sopas, burritos, fajitas, etcBig dining room, plenty of seating, cool wall art and a staff that takes good care of youEnjoy!

For all those tourist who can measure quality this is your place. I felt more of a American approach to Mexican food when receiving my food. I'm not here to offend the establishment just sharing my initial reaction.Everyone's palate is different. So take my advice with a gain of salt.
Be the first to ReplyWe were so glad to eat here & meet up with friends.
They are only open from 7p-10p so plan accordingly. There was a15-20 minute wait on a Friday night. The service was nice & fast. The bathrooms were clean. There is outdoor dining when weather permits. Parking was not easy but there are marked spots in the back of the buildings so check there first. I ordered the shredded beef taco plate a& my partner ordered the chicken burrito. Although the burrito has only chicken in it (That was a surprise) the meat was seasoned well. We are looking forward to our leftovers where we can mix the chickens & beef with the rice & beans!

I'm sorry but this is our third time coming here, and I would not recommend this place. The first two times were okay, nothing to write a review about. This Thursday time was the topping on the cake to never come back. My husband order a $50 dollar plate with mixed seafood and carne asada. The covered bacon shrimp were all raw!!! My husband flagged our waiter and instead of owning the cooks mistake he wanted to argue with my husband that they're supposed to be raw from the inside?! When my husband has been eating those kind of shrimps here at home and at other Mexican restaurants for years and they never brought him raw shrimps. My husband politely told him that he didn't appreciate him lying to him, so the waiter proceeded to say well we can take them back and bring you a new batch? My husband said yes, 20 minutes laters they bring him a new batch. My husband opened one and they were fully cooked like they were supposed to be from the beginning. The waiter nor the manager who was walking around tried to make our experience a positive one. Terrible customer service, the food was just mediocre. We will not be coming here ever again.

I was skeptical about this place from this start because it gave the authentic impression but it was a mask. There wasn't anything authentic about this place. The salsa had no flavor or spice. The enchiladas were so salty with no flavor. The chicken in the molcajete was so dry it tasted worse than dry Thanksgiving turkey. The service took forever as well it was definitely not worth any wait. So overpriced too !! This place only gets one star because I really liked the pineapple agua fresca but otherwise I would've never came.

Check your bill! Overcharged for everything- sides, a Tajin rim on drink and cheese that was supposed to be on the $29.00 entree. Management was very unhelpful. 2nd disappointing visit, will not be back.
