Carrello Seattle Reviews from The Last Year
Just finished a solo after work meal down at Carrello over
Just finished a solo after work meal down at Carrello over in Cap Hill. Been told about this place for awhile and decided to stop on by. Sat in the patio seating area enjoying this beautiful weather. The service was awesome and you can tell that they are very serious about tending to every guest that dines in with them. Let me talk about my meal For the drinks I had the "THE JIMMY LEE" pathfinder hemp and root, giffard ginger, giffard elderflower, lemon, simple syrup And a "Sage Water" (didn't see the ingredients for it but very refreshing) For my entrees I had Lamb Ribs which was a special of the day (this has been the second time I've had lamb ribs within the past few weeks and I'm not sure personally if lamb in that way is something I like. Maybe I just want more meat who knows lol) And I had the "PAPPARDELLE" spicy ragu of oxtail and tripe, anchovy crumb, parmesan Which honestly was the highlight for me and I would eat at-least 3 bowls in one sitting with nothing but satisfaction. Ended my meal with dessert and got TRADITIONAL CANNOLI house-made ricotta, candied orange, cocoa nib, sicilian pistachio Which was so amazing and honestly light after having what I had to eat. Overall I will be coming back. Especially to try the tasting menu that is 5 courses that is ever changing daily from what I was told.
Unfortunately, we were left rather disappointed by this
Unfortunately, we were left rather disappointed by this meal because I'd heard great things from a friend about Carrello. I wanted to take my mom somewhere special since she was visiting Seattle and was excited by the prospect of sharing a curated "five-course menu tailored to your preferences" with her. When we were seated, the server explained she'd ask us a series of questions to determine our tastes and then she would work with the chef to surprise us with some dishes. We waited for ~30 min and no one came to ask any questions, then the first appetizer was brought out. It was so salty, we asked that the next courses be made with less salt if possible to accommodate for my mom's health condition and out came the saltiest, sourest set of cured meats, fish, and olives imaginable. Aside from being served very slowly, the rest of the courses were alright, but charred here and there and just not to our tastes/health restrictions. If the staff don't have the bandwidth to fulfill the "feast for the table experience" we would have much rather been informed and just selected menu items on our own because the kitchen is clearly capable of serving incredible dishes, from what I can tell in the other reviews. Altogether, the meal was just a let-down and not a $95 per person value because it just wasn't the experience advertised. We had even cancelled a different reservation because the tailored menu seemed like a more unique option. That said, we were fans of the corn pasta/sourdough, the ambiance out on the patio was lovely, and the staff did their best during a busier night. Hopefully others have a more pleasant experience. Edit: To clarify after reading the response, we were asked when seated about "food allergies" and if we had a meat or seafood preference, which we informed the server of but the server said that she would be asking us a set of questions to tailor the menu with so we were expecting to inform them of the low salt tolerance then. After the starter came and was especially salty, we realized no questions would be asked and immediately notified the server but the following dish was even saltier. We have previously had traditional southern Italian cuisine in Italy without issue and thought the other dishes were great so I do not appreciate being called uneducated when expectations were poorly communicated.

Too salty :/ it was just okay i was excited to try, but it was not as good. Their service was rather slow which was okay but probably won't be back
I take everything back about the salt.
Tonight's dinner looked and tasted so beautifully. So many complex flavors in the salmon dish - sweet, spicy, with bitter notes, and plenty of umami flavor. Any dish that would make me fall in love with a food I grew up hating - namely asparagus - is testament to the talents of a chef and their dedicated team. Hats off - this was one of the best dinners I've had in my life. The kampachi was already great but they decided to do something adventurous and pickle strawberries and add that to the dish! They retained their fleshiness and sweetness even as they said in the tart vinaigrette. The precise garnish work was such a nice touch. It looks fancy but not overly pretentious, which matches the farm-to-table atmosphere I fell in love with. Everyone here has serious chops and I can't wait to see this restaurant continue to flourish. The bartender Ryan said he hopes the place wins a James Beard award and I hope it does too!
What a wonderful experience.
Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and welcoming, and made it a really lovely night from start to finish. We enjoyed excellent cocktails and mocktails - the range of NA offerings is outstanding and varied. While the custom 5-course menu was tempting, we weren't quite hungry enough for that, so we ordered a sampling of pastas, sides and entrees - everything was exquisite! Plus a couple of delicious desserts ... Yum. Looking forward to coming back soon and exploring more of the menu.
You can't get this anywhere else.
All thanks to our server Emma, who was amazingly attentive, and taught us how to taste the wine and helped us order! She was so amazing and truly made us feel at home and SAFE, as inexperienced people who have no clue what 80% of the menu was offering haha. When she said "everything is good", she meant it. EVERYTHING was so amazing! The pasta dishes were delicate and delicious. No alterations can be made to menu (ie: "no lamb") but just trust them. If you've had a bad experience with ingredients somewhere else, that definitely won't be happening here. Thank you so much for handling my table with love and care Emma!
You shouldn't leave a restaurant hungry.
Portions were ridiculously tiny. They should have an option to order normal size. I have the 'spicy' prawns and scallops. It came with bits of prawn no larger than the size of a dime, so maybe 1 prawn in total. They tried to say the scallops were inside the pasta puffs; in other words, they pureed the scallops. And yes, the dish was very spicy without warning. Here's the fun part. The $80 wine bottles are $20 bottles. At some point of 'scale' over time, this will become incredibly obvious in taste. Finally, a frozen dessert which was the size of a melon ball, was $15.00.
2 stars all go to the staff.
They were wonderful. Attentive, informative, timely. They were superb. If I could give a rating just for staff, I would give them 4/5. I had asked extensively about kid friendly options. We had one pasta dish that was spicy without any warning and they knew we had a small child with us. As for the food, I would give negative 20 stars if I could. First, the value. 4 - 4"x2"x1" slices of focaccia for $7 was nuts. It wasn't even good. Burnt edges and tops on each individual piece. Burrata was just ok but again with the price, very poor value. We all had to commit to the pasta hour if one person wanted it. $35 pp for 3 palm sized bowls of pasta per person. Two of the bowls - cavatelli and agnolotti were extremely salty. I thought the first dish was a mistake. When we got the agnolotti, I realized the cooking was just in general bad. Every person at the table agreed (3 adults). The tagliatelle was spicy without any warning and so I couldn't share with my child. The only thing the waiter said was that they would share my feedback with the chef but no offer to replace/remake or provide a smaller serving for my child. Ended up paying $11 for a separate bowl of cavatelli with butter & Parmesan. Also, I'm guessing I didn't read the fine print but with 3 adults and 1 child, 20% tip was already added. Ambiance was fine. Restroom was clean and spacious. There are so many better places. Choose better.

From food to ambiance this places to me emulates a lively, hipster very capital hill vibe, which I enjoyed. The music choice was great and our server was attentive and super sweet. Also everyone's outfit slayed. I ordered the "pink side of the moon" cocktail which was okay, a bit too sweet and fragrant for me. I forgot what my friend ordered, but she described it as a chai cocktail which it tasted like one, very spiced and wonderful. To share we had focaccia which was okay, it but too hard, I prefer it to be softer. The star of the show was my oxtail ragu. It had this rich deep flavor, I do wish I had more pasta as the portions are small but I get it's not an entree size. My friend ordered a clam pasta which was also delicious and the pasta was textured nice thin which I loved. And to finish off we had this sorbet with passion fruit curd, vanilla ice cream, meringue chips and sesame powder which was to die for! Although a bit pricey for the portion I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere so I will be back:)
I came and ordered way too much food.
Tried the mussels, focaccia, burrata, gnocchi, NY steak, crispy potatoes and the salmon. The herb fried potatoes were particularly good, but they did a good job with all of the food. Next time I would probably order 1 less entree and that would have been enough for three people. The setting is nice and the entire experience was enjoyable.
Food and service excellent! The chef tailored the tasting
Food and service excellent! The chef tailored the tasting menu to the various dietary requests we had at our table and everyone left feeling full of great food. Our server Gabriel was attentive and gracious and really made sure that everything was taken care of for our picky party of six. This is my second time at Carrello and I've been happy with both visits.
I don't have that much exposure to Italian food, but even
I don't have that much exposure to Italian food, but even with that limited exposure, this is easily one of Seattle's best in that category. I have been twice and both occasions left me in awe. Service is always exemplary, different staff routinely come by to give you recommendations and to talk about everything you ordered. Restaurant is very clean and all seating is placed away from the front door, so no icy breeze that hits anyone when it opens! Food is some of the best tasting I've tried, you seriously cannot go wrong ordering any food or drink at this restaurant. I personally would lean more towards the pasta dishes as they are mind-blowing, and though the entrees are good, might as well have had another one of their pastas. Starters and drinks are also very impressive, having you impressed at every point in the meal. Worth the brisk walk up the street, one of Capitol Hill's best.
Fun & Fabulous 5-Course Feast
Our family of 7 did the 5-course feast, and it was fabulous & fun. Every dish was wonderful, especially the pumpkin mezzaluna, salad, fried potatoes, chicken & Lamb. Service was excellent as well. Wine & cocktails were tasty as well. There is parking on the street, a lot near the side of the restaurant or a parking lot behind the restaurant.
Lamb, Carrots, Burrata!
Recently stopped by for our monthly dinner out. I let my husband order the main course and he loves the lamb (can take an hour to prepare) so that's what we had! I ordered my normal small plates including roasted carrots, burrata, and squash. Everyone serves burrata but Carello's, which is different each time we've ordered, had a fig mint pepper jam, roasted herbs, and roasted apples. The burrata and carrots were so good that I ordered a takeout dinner a few nights later with roast chicken, carrots, and burrata ($100). We generally spend $200-220 dining in which includes 3-4 drinks and dessert. The entrees are large enough to share.
Avoid a bad start to your evening
Avoid their terrible entitled service. Such high expectations based on the reviews but the service and ambience was disappointing. Would not recommend it! Mr. Manager get good service and improve your ambience. Food is ok! I can get the same at other places on the same street

Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate |
Yes unfortunately they are finding more and more ways to lock up sellers money. Sell thru rate, refund rate, limiting withdrawal amounts ler day and per month (which for me are the same number which makes no sense). Lot of sellers leaving as you can see from the lifetime sales not really increasing. Most posts on here are frustrated sellers which is not a recipe for success

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

I believe the original reservation holder is a bot as it seems like it when i tried contacting directly. Do I have any recourse if they won’t let me in the restaurant?
