Couldn’t get in!!
We made a reservation through Opentable and when we got to there a note on the door said closed for a private event. I understand things happen however they should have notified people with OpenTable reservations that they would be closed.

Very nice and elegant place, excellent quality of food and service, as well as a wide choice of excellent dishes. The owners are really very kind and friendly, two wonderful people, we will certainly find the opportunity to return to visit you. Super recommended! Marco&Chiara
Be the first to ReplyExcellent meal but…..
Came from Kingston for a weekend away. Chose Carisma over a couple other highly rated Italian restaurants from Trip Advisor. Food was top notch, kitchen manager sent out excellently plated dishes, kitchen staff prepared dishes to die for……Scallopini lemon and Scallopini fungi were absolutely amazing….only downside was wait staff…most people, from my experiences at Italian (or most) restaurants, want fresh pepper, Parmesan, checks on whether food is good, etc….to happen…..it seemed as though our server had other more important things to do, compared to other very attentive staff to other tables, ours should be aware of his patrons…..perhaps this should be addressed by management for future interactions…. Overall a good night but could have been much better and being a very generous tipper, I would have been more than happy to contribute more but didn’t think at this time it was warranted.
Be the first to ReplyImprove the Tasting Menu
We visited on a busy Saturday night. This was our third visit and this time we ordered the tasting menu with matching wines. When we asked as out the dishes on the tasting menu our waiter said it was a surprise all we needed to tell him was meat or fish? That’s pretty vague. As the 4 courses were delivered they were not described to us and glasses of wine were placed on the table vs being poured at the table and described. This not acceptable and the only time trying a tasting menu that this happened. If you offer a tasting menu your guests please let your guests know what they are getting.

Excellent food and service made for an extremely enjoyable evening. Food was served hot and was very flavoursome.
Be the first to ReplyBusy & crowded but good service and good food
A busy downtown Italian restaurant serving very well prepared dishes with super fresh ingredients! A bit noisy with after work crowd.
Be the first to ReplyAn evening to remember
As soon as we arrived, we knew we'd come to the right spot. There was a warm ambience to the place. The layout was spacious, people were happily chatting, and the waiters were buzzing around efficiently. When we were asked for our wine choice by the resident sommelier, we half seriously said why don't you have any Nero D'Avola because we both love it. We were immediately offered two glasses which were terrific. My beef tenderloin was to die for and my wife was equally impressed with her veal in mushroom sauce. We followed that up with a delectable raspberry sorbet (shared) and 2 cappuccinos. It was an evening to remember.

Returned to this restaurant for the first time in 4 years, as I have not visited Toronto since before the pandemic Delighted to see it has retained its high standards in serving excellent Italian food. An extensive choice of authentic dishes, backed up with good service. Despite it being a Monday it was full so I was glad I had booked.

One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had! From the friendly greeting and fun banter with the owner to the great service, excellent suggestions and quality of the food! Amazing! Well done Team Carisma!
Be the first to ReplyOne of Toronto's best kept secrets!
My wife and I just went here for an anniversary dinner and it was incredible. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the music is perfect, the ambiance is great, and the vibe is just awesome. The staff are incredibly friendly and we met the owners who told us that it's run by multiple generations of the same family which was so cool. I love when the owners come out and personally greet you, it shows their heart and soul is in what they do. The food was absolutely out of this world. Legit Italian and I've been to Italy four times. This is one of Toronto's hidden gems. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, charming personal service. Must revisit!
Wonderful menu items of select high protein or carb heavy pastas made for many difficult decisions. Delightful wine selection by the glass at reasonable price point augmented our meals. And outdoor dining was just right! Look forward to returning for another meal.
Be the first to ReplyNot fits for vegetarians, service medium, not worth at all
We were on buinness dinner paid by the company. A menu was pre booked: entry, main & dessert.
There were only one choise, risotto offerd for vegetarians. On demand other options were offered, but I trusted that a high priced restaurant will prepare a good risotto. But it wasn't tasty. Other colleage said the same. One had pasta - more cold and also not tastey.
It was also very loud - hard to keep communications.
Service was also not for me. We had two different bottes if wine - and they mixed up refilling. Also some mains were delivered to wrong persons.
The options fir water were sparkling from Italy and still from Finnland. Ecolocical non-sense. No Canadian options.
Finally I'd say it is not worth the prices they bill.
Overpriced- Pushy and phoney staff
We arrived at the restaurant and almost as soon as we sat down, we were being asked what we wanted to start with from the bar. I would prefer to get settled and review the menu. Drinks were ordered (Over priced and small glasses). As soon as drinks were served the waitress and the owner was asking us what we would like for dinner. They recommended their specialities but we ordered from the menu . The Capesante appetizer at $26.00 was tasteless. The Spigula at $44.00 was simply a Bass and was served undercooked . The Calamari was just OK as was the veal and mushrooms. Not overly impressed at all. Fortunately, the Espresso was good.

Be the first to ReplyGreat food
A group of us recently went to Carisma to celebrate a friend's daughter's graduation from university.
The restaurant was very busy, had a good vibe but was loud. All of the food was delicious but the portions were on the small side.
An Anniversay Dinner Disappointment
The restaurant was busy (good!) when we arrived for our reservation (7:30 pm on a Saturday night) and remained busy until we left at around 10:15 pm. Our table was ready so there was no wait. The staff were very attentive throughout the evening.
Our appetizers were spot on - Carisma salad, and grilled calamari. Unfortunately, the entrees did not live up to expectations. The Raviolini (veal) was tasteless and the tomato sauce was thin and watery. The Veal Scallopini with porcini mushroom sauce was equally disappointing; the mushroom sauce lacked any body and was flavourless, and the veal, nice and tender, really needed a bold flavour to accompany it. And the dish, overall, was warm not hot. I suspect that both the raviolini and the veal scallopini had been sitting on the counter for some time.
The strudel dessert was very passable. The cheese plate was awful - five different Italian cheeses where only the gorgonzola was anything remotely approaching flavoursome.
The bill for two, including two glasses of Prosecco and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc ($88) was $313 before tip for what amounted to a very ordinary dinner all things considered.
Great Spot
Four of us ate there last night and the food was outstanding and the service was very good. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Toronto Italian Restaurant
On the recommendation of a Toronto hotel, 5 of us attended on December 1. We barely were seated when a woman and a man were on us like flies pushing a carcuterie plate but not one for the table but rather one for each of us. We had not even had a chance to review the menu. After receiving our main dishes, 2 veal orders were sent back as they were tasteless as were 2 pasta dishes. After the return of the dishes, we were then virtually ignored by the staff, that is, no offer for desert, cappuccinos or refill of wine glasses. Finally and after asking for the bill which was in access of $714.00, a server presented us with the charging machine which reflected a total of $7.14 not $714.00! In good conscious, I identified the issue with the server who made no apology or explanation. Bottom line, the food and service were substandard!
Be the first to ReplyOver priced, overcharged and very average food quality.
We reserved for our family of 7 expecting a wonderful dining experience. Boy, were we ever wrong! They bullied us non stop to place our orders, then rushed the appetizers through and the Scallops were not fully cooked! We asked for Sparkling water and didn't even finish the 2nd bottle and they rushed a 3rd to the table and opened it. 8 bucks a bottle! Ordered 3 and received 3 glasses of house white and they billed us for 7. We were stupid and trusted them to bill us correctly. 3 Duck Pasta dishes were ordered and hardly any duck meat was added. My youngest daughter said her selection tasted so poor that she refused to eat it, when told, they said they would fix it when we come back! That will NEVER HAPPEN! I can get 5 times better at a local Italian restaurant for less than half the price. Please please don't go to this Rip Off joint!

Went to Carisma on a Monday evening. Felt so welcome the minute we walked in. The service was great, very attentive and despite being very busy, the food was served hot and the timing was spot on. The ambience was perfect, upscale without the fru fru. Comfortable seating and cosy. The food itself was delicious, we had scallops and salad for starters followed by fish and risotto . Thank you for a great night out. Will come back when in Toronto.
