I've walked by this group of restaurants several times and have always wondered about the business rationale of having 3 related restaurants of the same cuisine right next to each other. At some point, wouldn't you wonder why they just don't try to get adjacent units and knock the wall down? They have tried to differentiate each venue slightly by doing themes, and I visited Capote y Toros, the sherry and jamon bar of the group last night for a quick bite in the neighbourhood. It has a pretty casual vibe, but I would describe it more as a restaurant than a bar. At one point in the meal, one of the staff members brought over fresh bread from one of the other restaurants, which we found pretty funny. There was only one other group of diners in the restaurant around 8 PM on a Tuesday, and when they left, it was my friend and I and just the six staff members, one of which was playing guitar. They might be a bit overstaffed for quiet weekday evenings, to say the least. As for the food, it's recommended at the top of the menu to order 3 to 4 tapas per person. I found that pretty helpful, since it's usually one of the first things I ask when visiting a sharing plates type of restaurants. We got the 8 hours roast tomatoes and the padron peppers from the vegetable section; the iberico pork cheeks and bone marrow from the meat section; and the calamari and octopus from the fish section. I think jamon and cheese is fairly standard and I can have that all the time, so preferred to go for more interesting dishes that take skill to prepare. I especially enjoyed the 8 hours roast tomatoes and the bone marrow, which were new things I had never tried before. The roast tomatoes were full of flavour and a very interesting pairing with blue cheese and basil; definitely worth a try, though I don't think I'd be in a rush to order it again. I would recommend the bone marrow, though, which really hit the spot when paired with the spicy tomato sauce on toast. The staff said that it wasn't for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.The other great thing about the dining experience was that they had a good selection of half bottles of wine, that literally come as a mini bottle, and you are not just poured from half of an already opened bottle. However, it is not cheap, as these half bottles already set you back over £20. Most of the tapas are £6-8, which is ok for the more interesting dishes, but a little bit less exciting for a basic dish like Spanish tortilla that in Spain would cost you 2 euros. Overall I'd say it's a decent place, but probably not a destination restaurant worth venturing to if you are not already based in the area.
