Callie San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Overall, the ambience inside the restaurant is excellent.
Service was fine. I liked that they had a whole array of non-alcoholic drinks to choose from. We chose not to have the feast. The entree they provided in the feast was chicken yesterday and we were more interested in trying the octopus and dolmas. We started with the baba ghanosh which was excellent. The pita was freshly baked and lovely. The crunchy carrot salad was very nice. The kanpachi had a bone it it. It's the first time I've had sashimi with a bone in it. I've taken off a whole star for that because that was just unacceptable. It lodged in my throat and was bad. The octopus was tender, but not memorable flavor-wise. The dolmas were dry. The grape leaves were not tender and the meat inside (all meat, no rice) was a nice flavor but dry. Overall, it was an average experience. We probably won't go back. But its a good place for an after-work drink if you're in the neighborhood.
Big beautiful space.
The bar was especially gorgeously built and it. We git the duck and the eggplant caviar and it was very good. Great service.
The Aleppo Chicken was great! Meat was tender and crispy
The Aleppo Chicken was great! Meat was tender and crispy outside, the flavor was unique and taste awesome. Service was great!
This place is amazing.
Just try it. Food is incredible. Service is organized and attentive. Plus it's a lovely restaurant. Can't wait to go back!
Loved the decor.
Felt super trendy and chic. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was so so so good. Best meal we had in San Diego. Almost everything was 5/5! Hummus 4/5 but we had to have the garlic and sauce they normally include on the side since it wasn't vegan for my husband to try it Bluefin tuna toast - I could eat 5 of these Uni toast - so creamy and sweet with the warmth and saltiness of the jamon; perfect balance of flavors Lamb chops - perfectly cooked Hanger steak - exceptional Aleppo chicken - the flavors on this were sooooo good! And still so tender and juicy. Vegan bucatini - nice mixture of textures and flavors Carrots - very nice Patatas - a little over done but still tasted good Chocolate cookie - was probably the most disappointing haha. Was just a typical chocolate chip cookie with a tartness in it from the tahini The only other note that was a bit irksome was that the restaurant didn't have a changing table in the restroom. But overall we loved our food and experience at Callie and look forward to coming back again!
We did the prix-fixe.
Was very impressed with the attention to detail and unique flavor combinations. Service was superb as well. It was a lot of food so you don't go home hungry.
Love their season special - garlic prawns with bread.
I've gone back just for this dish.

Pleasantly surprised to find this GEM! Remarkable food with five star care taken with each ingredient and method. Delicious flavor and five star service. Chicken was amazing so were the apps. Well worth a visit.
Great food and menu options.
The hummus was delicious. Cocktails were very good. Pricey

We started the evening with a drink from the bar while waiting for our reservation time to arrive. The bar team were very attentive and happily moved our cocktails to our table. Once we sat down, we were served and had the Mediterranean feast and the wine pairing. It was a wonderful evening and they accommodated my request for mushrooms to not be the focus of any of the dishes. Every item was amazing and delicious. Wonderfully paired with every wine and the staff were attentive and kind. I bought a shirt to remember the evening because they're so cute!
Middle East meets America at its best
Superb dining with dishes made to share. Extremely well cooked and meat so tender that it melts. This goes for the chicken (a must), the duck breast and the lamb chops (my rival favorite). Few, but good wines by the glass and an extensive wine list incl 'rare finds'. Huge bar and cocktail list. Service fast p, friendly, and knowledgeable.
Definitely worth the price
everything was fantastic, from the food to the location to the service. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. It was expensive, but some time you get what you pay for. The staff all seemed to be having a good time, so hopefully that means they are treated well. Oh the food, would love to go back--I was most excited about the carrots! How many times have you remembered the carrots? Yeah that good.
Elevated dining experience
What an enjoyable night out. We arrived at our reservation time, were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. Started with a non-alcoholic Negroni which was refreshing. We asked to share the drink and they split the drink into two for us. Sampled the hummus as an appetizer with homemade pita bread. We had the pappardelle and a duck special as entrees and finished dessert with the pavlova. The hummus was tasty and the pita bread was unique and airy. The entrees were enjoyable and tasty. The pavlova was light with a taste of lemon meringue. We loved the food and the elevated experience and look forward to our next visit!
There has been a lot of buzz about Callie, so I finally had
There has been a lot of buzz about Callie, so I finally had to check it out. It was quite good but I wouldn't call it incredible, and I'm going to tell you why. I would honestly give it 3 1/2 stars, but Yelp does not allow halves so I rounded up- a three star review would've been unfair. One of my girlfriends, and I decided to do a dinner out for our birthdays. We went for the Mediterranean feast, because the five course chef tasting menu sounded like so much fun. We also split one of the wine pairing flights... Not to be cheap, but because we can't drink that much in the evening anymore and sleep at night. The first two courses, the trio of dips, and the Japanese Kanpachi were fantastic. We both agreed that the Kanpachi was the best dish of the night. The main course, which was the halibut, was visually appealing, but unremarkable in taste and texture. A piece of halibut was sliced, so thin, that it seemed to be overcooked, and the flavor of the fish was overwhelmed by the toppings. The beet and citrus salad that came with was fabulous, but the two dishes did not make sense together. Our server recommended the rice pudding for dessert and we also each got a 2.5 oz glass of a dessert wine that he told us was the best desert wine he had ever tasted. I understand that enjoying wine is truly a matter of taste, so I'm not saying that it wasn't good I'm just saying I didn't find it to be spectacular personally, or a particularly good pairing for the rice pudding. Overall, the preselected flight of wines did go very well with the meal and we appreciated being able to split them so we could enjoy it but not feel poorly later. I thought the restaurant was actually nicer inside than the pictures of it were that I saw. I don't quite understand the cafeteria like aesthetic that a lot of these nice restaurants seem to be going for these days. The pictures on their website did not do the decor justice, and the patterned tile was very pretty. The lighting seemed to be very stark, however. I think they were going for moody, but it missed the mark. Our server was friendly and engaging, and we particularly enjoyed chatting with the server assistant. My biggest issue however, with the experience was that each of us ended up paying about $150 each for the meal. I don't mind paying for quality cuisine but two hours later I was hungry and I was warming up chicken nuggets in my toaster oven. It just wasn't enough food for me.
Great food, but just an overall rip-off
First, the food was really good here, so don't get me wrong. The issue is just the portion sizes. Shareable family style means that it is enough to share, at least I thought so. Our table of 4 was having to take one little portion of an entree plate that came out and divide it up. It's really embarassing how little food is provided. With the labnehs we had to ADD a pita and got ONE for 4 people. With the Uni Toast we had to get 2 orders for $58 for one tiny little piece of bread each.... (It was good as I said) The pasta dish was excellent, but for 2x the price and 1/4 of the portion size of other resturants, it just sours the whole experience. Oh and of course the entrees are ala carte so you don't even get a few veggies with it which cost nothing. Finally, the server explained everything so fast and when we were talking that a lot is missed. When the bill finally came there is 20% (+4%) gratuity already included which I missed. So I had to call back later and have that adjusted. Our service was not 20% worth, and I especially don't like when it is added by default avoiding letting the customer determine the quality of service. I suppose this experience is good to remember to be vigilent when choosing resturants and look out for blantant rip-offs, no matter the quality of the taste. Most expensive resturant bill I've had here and I left feeling hungry and ate some mac and cheese when I got home.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday a couple weeks ago!
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday a couple weeks ago! We tried the course dinner, very accommodating. We really enjoyed the service, the staff was so attentive and kind. We had a reservation, recommend making one unless you want to sit in the bar. I loved the combinations for the drinks, the ingredients were so fresh!

Some of the unique items here that I would get over and over again: * Aleppo Chicken: with wonderful sweet and spicy glaze * Duck Breast: extremely crispy and crunchy skin Some of the solid dishes that are just as good elsewhere: * Hummus with Spicy Zhoug * Mediterranean Octopus * Japanese Kanpachi * Crunchy Eqyptian Carrots A dish that I thought was weird (1 star off): * Spaghetti with Lemon and Uni: I have had pasta plus uni and the combination is quite good, however, adding the lemon does not work. The pasta was just weirdly sour. The food here is Mediterranean, but encompasses a little bit of Japanese flavors as well. Both the food and drinks are great. The restaurant is modern and spacious, making me feel way cooler than I actually am when I am here.
So good! Food, service and environment.
I definitely had a great experience at this restaurant. The lamb was my favorite dish, so flavorful and perfectly cooked.
Dinner was very good- fish was excellent, service was good.
Vibe was casual. Only 1 star off for a lack of service when it comes to not offering cake service if you want to have a cake brought in for special occasion. Charge us to let is bring a type of cake you don't offer! ;-) I respect a right to make that decision but it comes off as a lower caliber service for the tier of restaurant Callie is, so that was the only thing that surprised us- maybe it's common in the area idk. I read in other reviews the attitude is generally not that accommodating but our experience was okay and friendly.

Callie was a standout dining experience in San Diego - The Truffle Pasta was exceptional, especially with the added black truffle flakes on top. The Hamachi Carpaccio and Hummus/Babaganoush with pita was a perfect light second course of the meal. A slight letdown comes with the dessert--Lemon Curd with angel hair sugar flakes. The restaurant's ambiance is elegant, blending contemporary and timeless elements. Efficient, attentive service adds to the overall positive experience. Callie stands out as a go-to spot for those seeking a straightforward, enjoyable five-course meal with a pleasing atmosphere.

In downtown and amazing restaurant parking was very difficult. We finally found the parking in the building. Very nice updated. We have reservations attended right away. The ambience and energy of the place was amazing. Lots of specialty dishes. We ordered couple of drinks with tequila. One of them was the beat tequila batata and the lamb chops where amazing we also had the Turkish rice pudding, which was really delicious was a little overpriced but I'm glad that we had the experience
Spent my birthday at Callie and was welcomed to a birthday
Spent my birthday at Callie and was welcomed to a birthday card which was a really nice touch from the restaurant. The interior is really spacious and has both a relaxed and chique aesthetic that I really appreciated. Our server was amazing throughout the evening and he helped us understand how their "Mediterranean Feast" works since we were eyeing that from the beginning. It's basically the best way for you to try a sampling of their menu via a 5-course meal. The waiter informed us of what each dish was going to be a part of the feast (I'm not sure if the selection is the same for every night - I assume not) but in any case we opted for the Mediterranean Feast which for $75/person is a pretty good value. For the starter, we got the Hummus, Babaghanoush, Avocado Labneh, and Pita Bread. The bread was really soft and I thought the babaghanoush was the best dip out of the 3. It was the most flavorful and I really enjoyed it. The hummus was also very good and the avocado labneh had a nice citric touch. The labneh tasteh also gave me a little "green juice" vibes. The other starter was the Japanese Kanpachi which was executed perfectly. The green "hot sauce" was delicious and the fish was really soft and was cut the perfect thickness. The first main course was the Wild Nettle Scarpinocc which had a really good mushroom flavor and delicious cheese. Although a really tasty pasta, it wasn't a big standout dish overall. The second main course was the Aleppo Chicken which was packed with flavor! The meat was cooked perfectly. Super tender, juicy, and moist which is really impressive considering the thickness of some parts of the chicken. This was served with the Crunchy Egyptian Carrots as the side. The carrots were good but flavor-wise nothing too special. I do think that because they came out together, eating the chicken and carrots together was too much acidity. There needed to be a neutral component to help balance out this portion of the meal. Whether that be bread, rice, etc that would have really helped neutralize some of the strong flavors and allowed me to keep eating more. The dessert of the feast was the Meyer Lemon Pavlova which was really fun to eat. The pavlova provided a nice bite texture to the soft meyer lemon pudding. Also there was some floss-like looking accompaniment to the dish that I can only best describe as a fancy version of cotton candy where it melts in your melt. Separately we also ordered the Turkish Rice Pudding. My gf really liked this but to me it was just alright. It had a nice brulee top to it which was different but the flavor was nothing exceptional. I really enjoyed my meal at Callie and would happily return for a special occasion. I love the Mediterranean Feast option since it allows your group to try a variety of dishes without having to spend full price on each dish and if I were to return, I'd opt to do the feast again but with different dishes offered.
Snagged a reservation at Callie for my partners Birthday
Snagged a reservation at Callie for my partners Birthday and we arrive to a birthday card in the table! The service here is amazing, never an empty water glass, very knowledgeable of the menu, and polite. We came here specifically for their Mediterranean Feast and that is exactly what we ordered. It is 5 courses for two or more people from dips to dessert. Started with a trio of dips: hummus, babaghanoush, and the avocado labneh. All three were lovely. Avocado was so vibrant and citrusy and babaghanoush had a great depth in flavor. Japanese kanpachi: so smooth with a great brightness from the sauce. I could add that sauce to everything. Wild Nettle Scarpinocc: subtle in flavor, could have had more of a punch, but still amazing. Just because it wasn't my favorite of the entire dinner doesn't mean it wasn't delicious. Crunchy Egyptian carrots: wow, never thought I'd love carrots this much. They are almost pickled but still had a big crunch. I really enjoyed these carrots. Aleppo chicken: perfectly crispy, perfectly juicy. Lemon pavlova: so interesting! The custard with the meringue with the floss. So many textures. I loved it. I did order an extra rice pudding on top of the feast because it was staring at me from the menu. It did not disappoint. Not too sweet, full of texture from the rice to the pistachios to the bruleed top. This dinner was one for the books and I definitely recommend the feast for an easy experience.
Some good and some bad, not worth a visit.
Recently, our group of five ventured into Calle San Diego, eager to dive into their much-raved culinary offerings and the curated Chef’s meal leading one through five courses. We opted for the Chef's Choice, priced at $75 per person, anticipating a feast of fantastic quality and creativity. Instead, we were met with a few incredible highs and too many unfortunate lows. Let's start with the highlights: The hummus, babaghanoush, and pita are the best in San Diego. Each bite was a delightful journey through rich, creamy textures and perfectly balanced flavors. However, not all was smooth sailing. The hangar steak was a letdown, with an odd texture and lack of flavor, failing to live up to the standard set by the rest of the meal. A notable mention must be made of the duck ragu – a dish that shone brightly among the courses. Unfortunately, this high was met with a low when we tasted the agnolotti – it was so excessively salty that it crossed into the realm of inedibility. An unsettling aspect of our experience was the chef's presence. Rather than visiting our table, which was right in front of the open kitchen, he observed us from behind the counter throughout our meal, lending a somewhat uncomfortable air to our dining experience. A point of contention was the billing strategy. The restaurant adds a service charge to cover labor costs – an unnecessary practice. Adjusting menu prices would be a more transparent approach. Additionally, a mandatory 20% gratuity was included, which we felt contributed to the subpar service we received. One incident that stood out was when a member of our party requested ice for his water. The bus person's outright refusal by shaking her head no, followed by the need to involve the manager, was a service faux pas. The staff's eagerness to clear our table while we were eating and their premature offer of to-go boxes while we were still enjoying our last course added to the feeling of being rushed. This was particularly perplexing given that the restaurant was still a third full and nowhere near closing time. In conclusion, while Calle San Diego does offer some culinary delights, the overall experience could be better served by more consistent dishes and a less-than-ideal service approach. For those looking to explore San Diego's dining scene, there are undoubtedly many other establishments that promise a more harmonious and satisfying experience.
A hopping new place
One of us had made a reservation, which included a deposit. We parked in the adjacent parking garage, and the parking was paid for by the restaurant. We were seated in a busy, noisy room. Our server explained that sharing food was the usual there. We ordered some fancy cocktails. We shared our first course. Best of that course was the beet salad. The four of us each chose an entre from duck to shrimp to pasta. All were very good, but maybe not worth the prices.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ

Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
