Ripped Off
A friend and I went to the Oyster Happy Hour. We sat at the bar. We were the only ones at the bar. Nice decor. The oysters tasted good, and so did the Greek wine. I asked for horseradish which came in a little cocktail sauce container mixed with cocktail sauce. Good. The other small container of sauce tasted like the vegetables in it had freezer burn. Although the bartender seemed friendly, he turned out to be a big turn-off. We were paying our bill with cash when I noticed an additional $17.00 fee tucked into the bill. We two were sitting at the bar! And another $1.00 padded onto my glass of wine price. When the bartender saw me notice, he then said, "oh I was going to tell you about that..". We took back our tip but went ahead and paid the extra $18.00 tacked on. I guess we paid in shock of the unexpected audacity. We won't be back.

This is a terrific spot for food and ambiance and people watching. Fun events but also lovely for a family dinner. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyBeautful restaurant; insufficient bathrooms
I was at Calissa on a recent Friday night. The restaurant was packed, both indoors and out, quite hard to hear each other at our table. Leaving that, and the high prices out of these comments. However, when I asked about the restrooms I was directed to an area with 3 unisex toilets (and, of course, a long line). This is a restaurant with a capacity of 300 patrons! Did I miss something? Are there other restrooms? Really, 3 toilets for hundreds of people, most of whom are drinking a lot. By my calculation, some people will spend half of their time at this restaurant in line for the loo! Please tell me where the other restrooms are... (I'm now going to look up the laws re number of restrooms per number of guests...)
Be the first to Replycrazy prices for average food
i have to agree with a previous review the prices were extortionate we paid $248 for 6 lamb chops spinach and potatoes three glasses of wine and teo bottles of corona the chops were ok nothing great and spinach is spinach the potatoes were lovely but it was a complete rip off for what we had
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot, one of our favorites
Had dinner here again last week and it is consistently one of our go to places year round! Great food (gluten free calamari!) and fun staff make us always feel welcome. They have DJ's on the weekend nights and in the summer they have live music, even though that is usually past our bedtime! Menu is great and so is the wine list. We will be back soon for sure!
Be the first to ReplyBelow average restaurant, above average prices
Unfortunately, this place is typical of pretentious Hamptons restaurants. Sky high prices and mediocre food. The chicken was not particularly hot and I've had better at corner Greek places with plastic tables. No one else thought their food was tasty and everyone agreed that the prices were absolutely not justified. Service also not particular good and was not made to feel welcome.
Be the first to ReplyWorst meal I’ve ever had in the Hamptons
We went to Calissa after our friend’s teenage daughter recommended it. It’s a very cool space, but the food and service were AWFUL. We were there on a Wednesday night, when half of the tables were empty. Still, it took 20 minutes to get a waiter to come over to our table - and only after we had tried to flag him down repeatedly. They include an 18% gratuity so our waiter just didn’t care. They force you to buy $12 bottles of water, saying that there is a problem with their tap water. The watermelon salad was good, but the rest of the food was mediocre at best. The $28 chicken skewer was inedible. We definitely will NOT return.

The restaurant was charming. Everyone was welcoming and accommodating. Stefani was our hostess, and Israel was our waiter; they offered friendly service. The meal was delicious with an authentic Greek flavor. This restaurant had a unique combination of a classy and yet relaxed ambiance!
Be the first to Replygreat night out with friends
We dined at Calissa last Friday night and really enjoyed our experience!
We were greeted by the hostess and we asked if we could sit at the bar for some drinks before we sat at our table. My friends enjoyed their cocktails ( I can't remember the names of them sorry! ) and I had a great Greek white wine. We sat down and ordered a bunch of appetizers and a few entrees to share with our server who assured us we didn't over order. We loved it all especially the calamari (gluten free for my friend!) meatballs and dips to start. We had fun with our server Israel and he let us know that there was a dj later that evening by the bar. For dinner we shared Lobster pasta, Lamb Chops and the Branzino it was perfect amount of food and all delicious. At the end of our meal we were given complimentary shots and invited to the lounge for Prosecco and Dancing. We weren't in the mood to dance but loved the drinks and stayed and listened to the dj for a while (good tracks, nothing too clubby for a quieter night) Overall had a great night out and can't wait to go back and visit again!
Outstanding!
The ambience, staff and meal were exceptional! Best Greek food I’ve had in NY! The holiday decorations in each crevice show you the attention to detail this restaurant has.

We came for an early dinner with some friends and three young teenagers.
The food we ordered was really nice and well presented. The setting of the restaurant was pleasant even though some might consider it slightly basic.
The staff on the whole were friendly although they need to learn not to lean across people while serving.
Slightly on the expensive side for what we had though but still well worth a visit.
No Mykonos as Advertised!
The food was generally good quality. The mezze especially—zucchini chips, fried cheese, beet salad…ordered 4 main courses for the 4 of us. 2 were excellent and the sea bass was not good.
The sides were excellent such as roasted cauliflower.
Wines were way overpriced!
I would rate the value as fair. The service was frenetic. A lot of help wandering around that were not well directed at all.
If you are looking for a Mykonos experience, go to the real thing! Not relaxing at all.
Food excellent, service and value not so much
We went for a family dinner, having heard good things about it, and knowing that the owner (James Mallios) has a solid reputation.
First, we are Greek, so obviously we are tough critics when it comes to Greek restaurants. The decor and ambiance is very pleasant, and there is a decent background buzz of voices and music.
Food - almost every dish was excellent, and overall I’d give the food quality 5 stars. We had zucchini chips, saganaki (fried cheese, which they drizzled with honey and was delicious), a beet salad with Manouri cheese and yogurt, spanakopita, and pork souvlaki for the table, which was the only disappointment (very dry, seemed as if they used the least fatty cut of meat, which is not the right cut for souvlaki). For mains we shared lamb chops, which were cooked perfectly (for over $50 a plate they’d better be), and on the side we had fingerling potatoes and an amazing roast cauliflower dish.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this place, and can’t wait to go back again. So why did I give it only 4 stars? Two reasons - service and value.
On the value side, I know it’s summer in the Hamptons, and by charging exorbitant amounts, you convince certain types of people that it must be good. For example, I know my Greek wines very well since I buy them often and collect wines in general, and 300-400% markup is just egregious for Greek wine. Again, you charge $175 a bottle and some people think it must be really good, except it’s $35 in a store, so that’s just disappointing.
On service, I always have a problem with the restaurant deciding that 18% added to my bill makes everyone’s life easier. It definitely makes the waiter’s life easier! After ordering our food, he never returned to our table, not even for a second to ask if everything was Ok. That’s not OK. I was a waiter in college, and I had to earn my tips. These waiters don’t, and they generally expect you to add an extra gratuity.
Overall, this is worth trying for some high quality Greek food, but expect to leave wondering if you should have waited to go back to Astoria where the authentic (and very reasonable) Greek restaurants abound.
Great restaurant
The food was excellent. Noelle, our waitress was outstanding. The staff was happy and friendly. Glasses of wine were pricey. Good wine list though.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Calissa for an early dinner with my sister and 2-year-old daughter. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating, took all COVID precautions to make our dining experience feel as safe and enjoyable as possible. And that was all before the food. We shared a few mezzes (tzatziki and kafteri) as well as avgolemono for starters, and moved onto the souvlaki chicken and spanikopita (both of which my daughter and I shared), as well as the salmon, greens and Greek fries for my sister. Our waiter was even helpful enough to suggest a glass of Greek wine for my sister, who had never tried it. Everything was wonderful. It was as if I was sitting at my own Yiayia’s table, eating her food. We finished off the meal with a piece of delicious baklava to share (the portion was more than enough for the three of us to split!), and plans to come back again!
Be the first to ReplyCalissa is a lovely place to have a meal with family and friends, no matter their age!
My sister and I had an amazing time at Calissa this weekend. They were able to accommodate my two-year-old niece and our waiter went above and beyond to make sure she had a nice night. We sat in the inside dining area which was beautiful with lots of colorful decorations to play "I Spy" with! We started out with tzatziki and kafteri dips. Both were insane and we had enough to bring home to snack on later! We split the avgolemono soup and it had a lot more sustenance than I'm used to, but it was perfect and is now a new favorite style. My niece had the spanakopita and Greek fries for dinner and ate both up which is quite the compliment. My sister opted for the chicken souvlaki platter and said she loved it. I had the perfectly cooked salmon with a side of sautéed Horta greens and I'm still thinking about it. We finished our meal off with some baklava (which I've been craving for months) and it met every expectation I had. Overall Calissa is a lovely place to have a meal with family and friends, no matter their age!

We took out a sampling of dishes and eac one was worse than the others. We love Greek food and this was easily the worst we have ever had.
