First time at Cafe Robey! The jalepeno cheddar bacon scone with maple vanilla drizzle is out of this world delicious !

Great service and atmosphere. We would definitely return.

It's better than good - Cafe Robey has an unassuming level of comfort that delivers both a sleek and homey design along with some very tasty food. Truth be told, not everyone in my party loved their dish as much as I did mine. Shrimp with Grits usually gets my attention and it was the star at our table. Perfectly cooked shrimp sits atop mascarpone grits, cajun butter sauce, roasted sweet corn, scallions and jalapeño. It's nicely textured and very shareable. At my table, everyone wished they ordered this. The Duck Hash (Potato, poblano peppers, charred onions, sunny side up eggs) sounded better than it was. The big drawback was very dry duck meat. Hard to love this as served, but maybe this was an an off day. The buttermilk pancakes (with strawberries) were good, though nothing exceptional. Gorgeous setting inside the hotel. The lighting and the tables are lovely (though our table for three was too tight for ourselves and our various dishes and drinking vessels.) Walk to other rooms and floors in the hotel to see what else they've done here. It's really nice. So glad there's another solid entry sitting on the border of Wicker Park and Bucktown. Also thrilled that the building has really come alive after years of laying fallow. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Loaded Potato Tots:Different than i expected but not a bad thing. Hash browns formed into crispy squares instead of actually tots but still good flavor and texture a little light on toppings (ranch chive and bacon bits) would be the only critique Crispy Chicken Sandwich: The sauce had flavors of chile ancho so a bit spicy. Crispy breading and good sized portion. Egg sandwich: Flavor of the sauce was a much needed touch, cheese works well with dish. Very subtle flavoring in the sandwich overall. S'mores Croissant: More bread like than croissant Good outer crust but lacking layers from a true croissant. Generous amount of nutella marshmallow and chocolate filling. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Asked questions about special items on the menu and they were not hesitant to find answers to my questions. Location and layout of restaurant was cute and fun would like to come back.

We discovered Cafe Robey by accident, while looking for someplace to have dinner before we went to Subterranean for 70s Disco night show. So glad we found this place as we have already been back twice. First of all, I was not even aware that the Coyote Building was a hotel or that there was a restaurant in it. The restaurant has a chilled vibe, cozy and comfy like. It has a very relax feel to it and the decor is light and airy. Getting in was somewhat confusing...you can enter from the street through a revolving door or through the lobby of the hotel. There is window seating across from the bar and a fair number of tables. I must say I was intrigued with the menu concept of breakfast all day. For me there is nothing like having breakfast for dinner...so deliciously decadent. For starters, we got the Sweet Potato Bread (pecan streusel, maple cinnamon butter) and a Cheddar Bacon Jalapeno Scone with Maple butter icing. Both of these were delish and are made in-house. The scone was so good I had another with my main course and took an order of the sweet potato bread home for the next day. For my entree I got the Duck Hash with potato, poblano peppers, charred onions, sunny side up eggs, served in a skillet. This was a very good dish and I was surprised at the amount of duck meat in it. This was definitely a great dish and one I would most definitely order. The Doctor did order it on our second visit and completely cleaned his skillet. In addition to the hash, I also got a side of the Maple Glazed Pork Belly. That was very good, if you like pork belly....I know it is not everyone's cup of tea because of the fat content. But the glaze was lovely and just the right amount of sweetness to complement the the savory side of the pork belly. For our first visit, The Doctor got the cheeseburger and fries, which he said was very good. The Queen got the omelette because she wanted something light. It had crispy potato, oaxacan cheese, chipotle crema, scallion, and bacon bits. As she also cleaned her plate, I assume it was also good. Second time back I got the Robey's Benedict (two 5 min eggs, fried green tomato, andouille sausage, cajun hollandaise). Definitely a variation on a theme, Nawleans style, with the sausage and hollandaise sauce. The sauce was really good; next time I get this dish, I would asked for extra. The sausage was good, but there wasn't a lot of it. The benny consisted more of the fried green tomatoes and the egg, but it was good nonetheless. Because it was Easter Sunday on our second visit, the restaurant had carrot pancakes with cream cheese frosting and crispy coconut. My BFF and I got an order...he normally doesn't clean his plate, but he did with these. I have to say I am not a fan of carrot cake, but man these pancakes were very good. I ended up taking half of the Robey's Benedict and pancakes home, having them for dinner. For those who don't want to do breakfast, they do have other items like sandwiches and dinner entrees after 5 pm. They also have a nice selection of wines that include a brut and rose sparkling (Yay me!). The staff was very attentive and friendly and we didn't feel rushed in any way. This restaurant has made the list and we will be back.

Please tell management that the music being played in this restaurant is atrocious. It is so antithetical to the culture of the neighborhood. It's antithetical to the design of the building and the mission of the hotel. The food here is great and so is the service, but I cannot keep coming back to listen to sad 80s music. I mean people come here from all over the world to stay in the most hip hotel in the most eclectic neighborhood in Chicago. Either play no music or match the vibes of the uproom . Stop playing Walgreens music from the 80s. I'm a local and I will not be back until this is addressed

We love this cute little cafe! I am gluten free, so I opted to have my pulled pork on a bed of lettuce. They do have GF Bread available though. It was so tasty! My husband enjoyed his caprese sandwich and salad. Our server Rocky was great. He checked with the kitchen to make sure my meal was GF, and provided good service through the meal. The food was served quickly and the price was pretty reasonable. This was our second visit to this restaurant and I am sure we will be back.
Be the first to ReplySuper cute little hidden gem.
Great cozy yet sleek atmosphere. We just had coffee and pastries, so we felt a little awkward because they have a full kitchen. 4 stars and not 5 because it was really empty at 6pm.

Such a cute place! Their menu was very interesting - wouldnt find anything super mainstream, but regardless it was all so good! I love pork belly so the tacos caught my eye and to say the least they were extremely enjoyable. My friend got the chiqualles which were also so amazing. The place is a tad pricey for drinks (mimosas or bloody mary) so we stuck to coffee which was also very good! Super happy with this place!

OMG!!! Where do I start!? Great soft lighting, smooth 80's music, awesome 6 corner street view, just the perfect amount of peripheral background conversations, must I go on? I haven't even gotten to the food or the even tempered socially calming waitress (Meghan). The caramelized French toast is AMAZING!!! Omelette , grape preserve very tasty, hash browns were delicious and eggs cooked perfectly
Be the first to Replycame here for brunch and was not disappointed.
service was very friendly and quick. ordered the shakshuka which although a little pricey was very tasty. would recommend for a quick and nicer bite with friends. two thumbs up
Be the first to ReplyFood 5 - perfectly sized portions.
Perfectly seasoned dishes. Perfectly plated dinner. Our favorite dish was the Brussels sprouts with squash. Perfect blend of sweet and savory, crunchy and creamy. Also had the mahi mahi, chicken and steak. All cooked to savory perfection oozing the right level of yummyness worthy of a happy dance. Meat soft and tender, lentils full of great texture and flavor. Veggies perfectly fresh crispness and flavor.Service 5 - very accommodating of special dietary needsAmbiance 4 - cozy

Saw this place on social media so I decided to stop by for CRW '23. They offered a 2 course brunch for only $25 which wasn't so bad. This cafe is located in the lobby of Hotel Robey in wicker park right at the intersection. I was able to find street parking right outside no problem. The interior was clean and inviting. Service was good as I was immediately greeted when I arrived.First course: I chose the loaded potato cake. I didn't know what to expect to be honest. I was surprised when it came out however it was delicious! It came with 3 hash brown things with sour cream, bacon bits, and green onions. The bacon bits were really dry and tough. Other than that, this simple dish was enjoyable to eat.Second course: For my main, I chose the fall spiced french toast and this is where I regret my decision. All the pictures made it look so good and I absolutely love french toast. It was ehh. It was pretty dry and they didn't give me syrup so I had to ask for it. The presentation was very pretty though. When they said "fall spiced" they weren't kidding - it's like an explosion of cinnamon and fall flavors that are really in your face.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was okay at Cafe Robey.
The ricotta on the ricotta toast was fluffy and one of the best I ever had. The croquettes needed a different flavor. They weren't bad, but not the best I've ever had. The strudel was really good and flavorful. Would recommend trying that if you go.For entree, the French toast was alright. It has a ton of butter and was a little dry, could've used some syrup with it. The chilaquiles were pretty good, pretty standard. The double cheeseburger was a delightful surprise. Very cheesy (just how I like it), Pattie's were seasoned and cooked well, and the bun was fresh. Only thing I didn't care for were the thick cut fries. Service was okay. Overall the space has a diner type vibe.

Didn't finish my duck hash. Great vibe, great people, bad food.

Came here for a brunch date and I definitely recommend!I made a reservation through resy but we arrived 15 min early. To my surprise, they were able to seat us right away!To find the place, it's a bit interesting. You have to walk through the hotel to get to the cafe. The cafe has a nice ambiance, perfect for a date or if you want a fancier brunch vibe for meeting up with friends (without needing to dress up!).I got the hibiscus berry tea (herbal) and the fall spiced French toast. The tea was delicious and the French toast was glorious. The plating of the French toast into a little tower is pretty and the French toast seems a little small but it's actually very heavy. You can taste both the pear and the ginger without the ginger being overpowering. I'm not the biggest ginger fan but I really liked it. My bf got the breakfast plate and he was impressed with how good the eggs were.

The chilaquillos is amazing! Great cappuccino.

Tried for the first time and would not be going again for brunch. - The latte's were burned. - The avocado toast was decent and the potato wedges were good. - They had to remake eggs because we asked for fried over medium and were served eggs with raw whites. The second round of eggs had shells in them. - Salsa was served in a soup bowl and was warm and watery. Staff was mostly nice but standoffish for some reason.

Cafe Robey really impressed me! I had a coupon from the best food date member for a free appetizer. I stopped by on a Tuesday after work and it was empty. Please note the main entrance is the same as the hotel's. The ambiance was relaxed and the setting takes you away from the bustling intersection where it resides. The service was great and attentive. The food was amazing! I had the Bread service which was their house-made focaccia with their incredible pesto butter *chefs kids* I also had the Tempura Shrimp with was delectable. For my drink I had the Bee's Sneeze cocktail. Though it was small in quantity, it definitely packed a punch. I will definitely be back.

The breakfast bowl with quinoa and bacon was one of the healthier items on the menu. It was hearty and very tasty. The service was really good. Also, check out the lounge upstairs for drinks sometime.

Café Robey is a restaurant that is part of the Robey hotel which is trendy and boutique. We came for a business brunch there and it was a treat. We got the French toast as a breakfast appetizer and it was fresh and delicious (full of flavor). I kept it simple with the basic breakfast getting my eggs scrambled sauce with cheese and they were on point. The hashbrowns were just OK, definitely need to add some seasoning. The Robey office their own in-house hot sauce which was good to add to the meal. They also brought out jelly for the sourdough toast which was good. The service was good with friendly waitstaff.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is excellent.
The ambiance is. Nice. The design and architecture are beautiful and rich. But the staff is a little pretentious and that's a turn off. We had the avocados toast and shakashuka and they were EXCEPTIONAL. Authentic and perfect The drinks were also wow. Oaxaca mezcal and the broken glass were Greta tequila based drinks.Adrian our server had great recommendations and service

Had brunch with friends and everyone throughly enjoyed their meals. I had a breakfast sandwich, the had browns and shredded thin and served with delicious homemade ketchup- which elevated the whole plate. Great drink menu! We had a Saturday morning reservation but it wasn't packed!

..in a yummy venue! Worth the wait, and even more fun to grab a post drink on the roof!
Be the first to ReplyI came to the Robey with a colleague this past week.
Online on the Happy Hour Revolution website based in Chicago, cafe Robey is listed having a happy hour every day from 4-6 PM. However, I wanted to double check, so I called the Cafe and spoke to a gentleman who confirmed that yes, while the lounge is closed for the season, happy hour in the cafe is 4-6, 50% off all drinks. Before hanging up, I twice confirmed that the CAFE was offering this special. His confirmation matched the online source I found, so we went. When we got there at 5 PM, we were literally the only table. Awkward, but not a deal breaker. Our waitress gave us great service, but after we had a round of drinks, she informed us that they've "never had a happy hour before" and "didn't know where I got that information." When I told her that I had spoken to an employee of cafe hours earlier, she doubled down and basically said too bad. When we got our bill, which was over $130 with our "full-price" drinks, I asked the manager if it would be possible to comp the beverages at 50% off that we ordered during their "happy-hour" -- which was four of our drinks, since they had clearly misinformed us. She proceeded to tell me absolutely not, and asked for the name of the employee who told me that, which I didn't have. Even if I did, I don't think I would've told her -- it's incredibly unprofessional to ask for a name and play the blame game. I wouldn't want to work at a place like that! While I fully understand an online source can't be trusted, I would expect that speaking to an employee and confirming only to be told no and treated like idiots is unacceptable and frankly quite embarrassing. Beyond that, I'm not sure how we could've determined there is or isn't a happy hour. I don't blame the employee who told me they had a happy hour, nor do I blame our waitress or the manager. However, I personally think the situation was handled very poorly and I will never go back. I live locally and was excited to book my parents a room here when visiting but refuse to patronize a business like this. Beware!
