Good food and very nice atmosphere!
We were lucky and got a table next to the pavement so we had lots of entertainment outside. My husband commented that our Aperolspritz here were much smaller and weaker than other places in Paris. Both of us had confit de canard which was very tasty, and the portions were generous. I was so full so I doubted that I had room for the chocolate mousse, but I ordered it anyway, - a big portion and really good. My husband had tarte tantin which he really enjoyed. Brasserie Lipp is one of the "old" brasseries who has always been here, and one can trust! I really like that it is a mix of Parisians and tourists, and I find that the prices are not expensive compared to other ordinary brasseries. I found the service also very friendly!

I walked into Brasserie Lipp with high expectations, but once the food came, my hopes were crushed. Me and my 3 friends ordered a steak, each. 30 minutes later, a plate with 2 pieces of steak arrived. The steak as disgraceful, and the beef was super tough. I choked it down, and my 2 friends waited for their steaks. 20 minutes later, another plate of steak arrived, this time with only ONE piece of steak. One of my friends thought it was theirs, so they began to eat it. My last friend waited for their steak, but it never came. We ordered another plate of steak, thinking they might have lost the order, or we forgot to order a third one. So when the third one arrived, my friend ate it, and we waited for the bill. When we got the bill, I was shocked, because it charged us for FOUR steaks and a bottle of sparkling water. I was very confused, so called the waiter over to ask him WHY there was 4 steaks on my bill, and a bottle of sparkling water. So it turns out that they put 2 orders of steak on ONE plate, thinking we'd just know that both of the steaks we ordered were on there. Well, they never told us, so we didn't know! I was already pissed of enough, when I asked them what was up with that damn sparkling water I didn't even order. The waiter began off into an angry babble of French that I didn't understand. I tried telling him patiently and slowly that he had overcharged me 81 dollars for a bottle of sparkling water that I didn't even order, and he just rolled his eyes and went off into angry French again. Finally, I gave up, and left the restaurant, knowing that arguing with him was no use anyways. I payed the bill, and left, knowing that I would never come here again for their bad service, and TERRIBLe food.
Be the first to ReplyAbysmal service, great disappointment!
The food was very average & we received the most appalling service I have ever experienced in Paris. The first course took nearly an hour to arrive. My friend ordered her steak rare but it was burned to a cinder. It took so long for her dish to be replaced, the rest of us had already finished eating. In spite of ordering our desserts in advance and reminding the waiter on our arrival, we were told at the end of the meal that the kitchen had made a mistake and that there were none left. There was no offer of compensation and when we asked them to take off the service fee, we were told it was impossible. I donโt think itโs possible for their service to have been more inefficient and disrespectful.
Be the first to ReplySpecial meal at a Paris landmark!
Last week on my birthday I visited Brasserie Lipp as it has been on my must visit for a long time. I plan my trips around where I can eat, having eaten at many of the best in the US and some in Europe. Lipp did not disappoint as I had one of the best meal experiences of my life (Iโm 76). I got there early before they opened and had the opportunity to meet the head chef. The friendly staff let me roam all over the restaurant and take photos. I was then seated and fun began. I started with champagne and then ordered their signature dish choucroute. While enjoying a nice Chablis, my choucroute arrived and it was delicious. My waiter explained the different meats on top of the sauerkraut. I ordered vanilla flan for dessert and a few minuets later it was delivered with a candle on top and 4 waiters singing Happy Birthday to me. A very special meal at a very special place. Highly recommend Brasserie Lipp for a great Parisian experience.

Always a very warm welcome, this brasserie since 1880 has been delighting writers, publishers and politicians, simple and excellent cuisine, good atmosphere.

So sad to read about all those unfortunate experiences of this magnificent brasserie. I have had only great lunches and dinners at Lipp through the last 30 years, both in company of others and alone, always being received in a nice yet Parisian way. Food has always been fair and service great to my experience. I remember dining there alone one evening and the very friendly waiter told me to look to the left when I was leaving the restaurant. In a sofa behind the glasswall alongside his models was Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent sitting in a jolly good mood. I will never forget that. Brasserie Lipp is and forever will be my favourite restaurant in Paris.
Be the first to ReplySadly, I donโt think they want us to come back.
We dine at Brasserie Lipp every time we are in Paris. We tell everyone we know traveling to Paris that they must go. But last night as we were leaving the restaurant, I paused and wonderedโฆwhy? We were seated upstairs, who even knew there was an upstairs. My guestsโ food looked dreadful to me, though they didnโt complain. The waiter didnโt seem to be listening. It just wasnโt fun. As we walked back to our apartment, I actually said to my husband, โwhy do we keep coming back to Paris?โ And if thatโs not the sign of an unsatisfying evening, I donโt know what is.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Atmosphere at Brasserie Lipp.
We went to the Brasserie Lipp mainly for the history and ambience - it's like stepping back in time with its old, traditional interior and waiters' outfits. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the highlight of which was the the mille-feuille, a house speciality. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice but very outdated decoration Very very aging toilets, no soap, limited cleanliness Lipp sauerkraut with shank, correct but not at the level of such an establishment Friendly staff Be careful, reputation is no longer enough

A midnight dinner with my friend and my son after returning from PSG's defeat in the semi-final of the Champions League. Very friendly and accommodating waiters. the meats were very good.
Be the first to ReplyBut who has the courage to talk badly about it?
Frankly we were surprised by a fair number of negative reviews. What we found was exceptional table service: particular praise goes to Titi, at least that's what he said his name is, who is a young, smart, quick and super professional guy. We ate from God, in particular an avocado and prawn salad. An excellent classic tartare and then Fois gras, one of the best I've ever eaten. We also allowed ourselves an excellent glass of Moet Chandon Imperiale rosee champagne and a 0.375 CC bottle of superior Bordeaux Chateau Vieux barreil. We write this review without knowing how much we will spend but I imagine enough. But a dinner like this is priceless. We come out happy. Thank you all

Everything was done to ensure that I had an excellent, delicious and delicious time! A professional staff and my pleasure was multiplied since I had just read Lipp is a party. Unforgettable memory

Nice place, better local inside which is more characteristic. Average quality dishes. For us, an experience not to be repeated

Historic place, with beautiful majolica but... alive with fond memories. It hasn't been renewed at all. Annoying and annoyed waiter because we couldn't decide on the courses in a short time, the food isn't even worth the effort to write about, but a special mention must be made of the sardines served with the whole tin can, terrifying! The white wine in glasses that they used perhaps in the 80s could be overlooked but you can't for a bill of โฌ115 for two.

Very beautiful Parisian brasserie, the art deco decor is magnificent; the welcome is courteous, the service is friendly. The cuisine is good, made with fresh, quality products. It serves typical brasserie cuisine (andouillette, sauerkraut, kidneys, razor clams, vintage sardines, etc.). Varied wine list, at reasonable prices.
Be the first to ReplyVery good brasserie, with character
Brasserie Lipp is not the ideal place for an intimate evening. But if you appreciate an authentic brasserie atmosphere, and the cuisine that goes with it, ignore the reviews which complain about the noise, the crowded tables and the perpetual movement of servers. The dishes are simple but of quality, the waiters are very professional, and the service is very traditional with great attention to detail (the necessary number of cutlery systematically changed, the generous starters, the good and fresh bread , starched napkins, outdated โcustomer reviewsโ). A moot point though: the garnishes, which are very ordinary apart from the beautifully presented mash, are chargeable for many main courses; given the prices, we would dispense with this detail. But that won't stop me from coming back!

Before it was delicious, nowadays horrible food and terrible service, the escargots tasted like grass and the meat tasted like inedible shoe soles. And the waiters didn't care that we didn't touch our dishes.
Be the first to ReplyA once great Brasserie.......sadly no more!
I and my wife have been going annually to Lipp for some 50 years and particularly enjoyed it during the days of Claude de Kronenburg. This visit was a DISASTER AND DISGRACE. We arrived at 7.30pm and waited 45 minutes for our order to be taken. Another 30 minutes for our Hors d'oevres which were OK. We had ordered the 'Entrecote Maturee' to be 'a point' when it eventually arrived it was saignant, and certainly NOT aged as described. Chewy, fatty and hardly edible. We then had to wait some 15 minutes for our bill, and finally got out at 10.15pm. NB. A table for 6 persons next to us (obviously regulars) arrived at 8.30pm and were served in half the time. Two ladies were 'vaping' but the management weren't interested. IT'S SO SAD TO EXPERIENCE A ONCE GREAT BRASSERIE SINK TO THESE STANDARDS !! Lionel F

Very poor food. Service to be desired. Very good atmosphere! I wouldn't go back because the value for money is not worth it. The meat (filet mignon) had no taste and the side dish was very simple. Doesn't live up to the name of the restaurant

Very characteristic and Parisian place. High bill for what we ate. 10 euros a piece of cheese. The worst thing were the waiters, arrogant, rude and rude! I wouldn't go back even if they gave me dinner as a gift
