Boulevard Restaurant Manama Reviews from The Last Year
Food is absolutely phenomenal! Service is on point!
Food is absolutely phenomenal! Service is on point! Absolutely love everything here! This review is long overdue. Came here for dinner one night and was completely blown away by the food and experience! It's a cute hole in the wall and you would never know that such a great restaurant is here. We ordered a bunch of items in the menu to share. There was not a single thing that wasn't like "wow". The food was delicious and spectacular! Service was superb attentive and friendly, our server explained every course and answer all of our questions. Definitely a culinary experience. Highly recommend!
We have been wanting to go here for a while.
So glad we finally did. The food is so good. We had ahi crispy rice, uni crispy rice and ahi poki for appetizers. Then we split the mahi-mahi. Everything was perfect. The expresso martinis and cheesecake were a great ending. The owner then brought us ice cream and shots of something to celebrate my last day of school. We will definitely be back.
Came here for a business dinner.
While food is in small proportions as Hawaiin cuisine tends to be, the food here is really good and they have a great drink selection too. Ambience is really nice and overall a great place to come if you're looking to impress a colleague, date, or out of town relatives. There's fun vibes here too

OMG the food was so good! The adobo was good but not as life changing as the dumplings and shrimp. They don't have a full bar and the "libations" (made with shochu) weren't great imo. I would opt for in light of this.
Amazing service and food.
Brought us a delicious dessert for our anniversary. Thank you very much
beware! this resturant has changed seating policies
beware! this resturant has changed seating policies reserved indoor seatting and didnt alert the reservation services. we reserved an indoor. dining room table, when we showed up we were seated next to a open floor to ceiling window and curtly told this is no longer a closed resturant, its all open air! right behind me they relocated the larfe double open door entrance. brrrr. its cold outside now in the low 60s with fog rolling in. ventura blvd ttaffic is loud and theres lots of fumes pouring in from the valet parking 15 feet away. this place has lost its charn.... after enjoying many meals here, the party is over.
Wow, stumbled upon this place as I was in town for work.
Decided to come here with a friend on a Thursday night around 7pm. This is a small restaurant with lots of greenery decor and super cute ambiance. We ordered the crispy tuna rice, brussel sprouts, kalua pork lettuce wraps, and scallop ricotta dumplings. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Each dish had its own unique flavors. The brussel sprouts was topped with a runny egg yolk with sweet, tangy, and roasted flavors. The tuna rice was soft and savory. The dumplings were creamy from the ricotta while you can still taste the seafood flavor of the scallops. And last but certainly not least, the kalua pork was the perfect combination of savory and salty, topped with a sauce that had a hint of wasabi. Service was attentive and friendly. They were dressed super casual to resemble the island vibe. My experience was fantastic and I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.
I enjoyed a mocktail with guava juice, which was delicious.
The chopped salad was also quite good. However, the fried chicken was too dry. The place is small but cozy, and the service is excellent.
This is THE spot to go to for any and every celebration.
Their food, drinks, and overall vibe are insane, truly next level. This is such a hidden gem in the valley and is so much better than the loud, busy vibe of Taisho or Casita...if you have not had the pleasure of Malama Pono you're in for a real treat. And the owner and staff are the nicest, most welcoming people on earth...they truly love what they do.

The service was excellent! The staff was friendly and attentive - 5 star! But, the food was not great, unfortunately. There were 4 of us there for dinner and we all ordered different dishes - prawn salad, grits, fried chicken, loco moco. Every dish was sooooo salty, even the dressing on the prawn salad. The only dish that was really delicious and perfectly seasoned were the spam crispy rice. I really wanted to like this restaurant but, wow, the salt was too much.
This place just rocks.
It is so unique to have elevated Hawaiian food. Not to mention, it makes my wife and I nostalgic about our honeymoon in Hawaii every time we go on dates there. The service is consistently friendly and helpful. The only thing I wish about this place is that it had a full liquor license so I could get a real mai tai, but their wine cocktails and beer list are pretty great. Not to mention, the quality of the food alone is way, way more than enough to keep me coming back. An absolute gem of the Ventura Blvd food scene.

Food 4/5: maybe we saw the reviews prior to the arrival, we were expecting something really tasty but I think other than spam crispy everything else lacked a bit of flavor. Drinks were also ok not too great. Service 5/5 Ambiance is good for dates or hangouts 5/5
The BEST! Service was wonderful and friendly.
The food was awesome! LOVE THIS PLACE! Five of us who had never eaten before are now big fans. THE BEST!
We stopped in on Friday at about 6pm.
No reservations but they had a couple of high tops tables for walkins. Service was quick and full service. We started with spicy yellowtail tuna crispy rice, which was very flavorful and creamy. I got the seared albacore carpaccio and highly recommend it! Boyfriend got the pono platter, which he devoured. Banana rice pudding as the perfect delicious ending to a great meal. I love the decorations, flowers, dim lighting, and music playing. It's a little pricey but worth it- check it out!

This is not just the best restaurant in the valley, it's one of the best in LA. As someone who has never been to Hawaii, I found the menu to be very original and the dishes very delicious. Spam on crispy rice?...wow! Shrimp and grits...addictive! Spicy garlic crispy chicken...sublime! Papas bravas...the best! And the staff is warm, charming and helpful. A must-try if you haven't.
This place is awesome.
I've come two times and both times were great. The staff cares so much about the experience and the food, you're going to have a good time. The food is so tasty, the seafood especially! All their dishes are a great size for sharing and for trying a few different things (my fav way to dine). They have big full length windows/doors they open up so you get a nice breeze even when eating inside. Drinks were good, vibes were good, I love this place. I'll definitely be back!
Absolutely lovely place to dine in the Valley.
The staff is kind and the food is delicious. Cannot wait to go back and share this gem with more friends and family. Mahalo for a great experience.
Service was great, everyone was attentive and accommodating
Service was great, everyone was attentive and accommodating for my daughters food allergy. Unfortunately the food was not great. We ordered the spam masubi crispy rice which was good. But everything got progressively saltier. Poke had too much soy sauce. Short rib adobo salt bomb. Kalua pork wraps salty. Very small portions. Yuzu aguachile barely any seafood. We left hungry and disappointed.
Excellent service, ambiance, and food.
A unique menu of Hawaiian fusion cuisine that puts a twist on the use of rice, spam , and tuna among many other exciting combinations. A great experience!!
Wonderful Hawaii Asian fusion.
.. Had uni on crispy rice Caprese Chinese salad Hokkaido scallop Yuzu cheese cake And yuzu sorbet Lovely service Will definitely go again!!
We loved Malama Pono.
This was our first time here and everything we tried was great. It was nice to have so many good options when ordering, and we chose the garlic naan, spicy tuna crispy rice, and tempura cauliflower as starters. The flavors were all on point and everything was shareable. I would say to grab more than one order if you're sharing and love something because they'll get devoured quickly. I ordered the horseradish crusted mahi mahi and found it delicious, uniquely prepared, and beautiful in presentation. By uniquely prepared, I mean that Malama Pono has chosen unique flavorful combinations one may not think to try, but the ingredients work well together and compliment the fish perfectly. My wife felt the same about the seared ahi, and our friends were pleased with the red snapper. I'd have taken some pictures, but the restaurant is dark and no one wants to be the "phone flash guy" in a dark restaurant. We also really enjoyed the house Pinot Grigio, but the other mixed drinks didn't really appeal to me, and seemed to be pretty sweet based on the ingredients. Malama Pono is a unique restaurant with very nice staff, and delicious, fresh, beautiful, and affordably priced food. I'd love to come back and try some of the other menu items. Highly recommend.
Yummy food and super cute inside.
We went for a girls night and it was absolutely perfect. Definitely recommend!
This hawaiian food is real creative and real tasty.
Perfect for a date night and the yuzu aguachile is the way to go. Id stay with the fish here.
Such a great night last night.
Hard to say what's better - the inventive, worldly, awesome food, or the warmth of service that makes you feel like being welcomed into your extended family's home. We were with a group of four, so we were luckily able to try a number of dishes, and there was not a single weak one among them. The Crispy Rice (various toppings) was unlike that at any other restaurant - perfectly crispy exterior, with the interior being impossibly creamy, delicate and bordering on liquid-like. So good that we ordered quadruple servings. (we were initially disappointed that they were out of the Uni crispy rice, but the deliciousness of the other versions absolutely made up for it). Other standout dishes - the aguachile, mahi mahi (pineapple beurre blanc!!), fried chicken, the yuzu cheesecake. We tried several cocktails which were beautiful, inventive, and tasty, although for our table's palate, sweeter than we would have preferred, so next time we will ask them to boost the tart components and dial back the sweet ones (we would say the same about the Yuzu sorbet - inventive and delicious, but sweeter than we would have preferred). Or - just choose something from the diverse and worldly wine and beer selection (amazingly numerous for a restaurant of this size). Overall we also found the pricing to be super reasonable for food/drink of this level. One note - although the restaurant's description says Hawaiian (and there are number of Hawaiian or Hawaiian-influenced dishes on the menu), there equal number of dishes from all over the world - India, Spain, Italy, Latin America - even southwest US shrimp and grits. Truly a world tour that somehow comes together and makes sense when it's all on the table in front of you. Also a kudos to the designers of the room - this is a fairly small place, and there are a lot of tables they've managed to fit in, yet somehow (unlike many similar places) they've found the magical right amount of space between each table so you don't feel on top of your neighbor. Can't wait to go back (wish we were going back tonight) - this team really is brining the Malama Pono. Thanks for the great experience.

We had a reservation but when we arrived they said they were overbooked. I'll never go back to this "wanna-be Aloha" ambiance!
Fantastic food and drinks.
Darren was attentive and offered on point recommendations!! Dark, moody and cozy. We will be back.

A six star is warranted here! We are so lucky to have Mālama Pono in Sherman Oaks. Hands down, it is my favorite restaurant in SO and it always aims to please. For the three years I have been dinning here, it is hands down excellent in service and food. It is heart warming to see the same servers over the years provide attentive and excellent service for guests. The food is consistently excellent! I have never had an average meal here. My top three absolute favorites are the Uni Crispy Rice, Cauliflower Tempura, and Saffron Seafood Dumplings. These are a must!
Mixed feelings.
Patatas bravas and the yuzu aguachilie are superb. Sangria is also excellent. Vibe is dark and busy but not so busy you're crammed, and service is good, attentive without being smothering. Not all the menu items were as good, some of the beef in particular (on the Hawaiian mixed grill) was just okay; not that it was bad, but compared to the stand-outs it felt all the more ordinary. And parking, if you don't valet, is a pain. 3.5 stars, but rounding up seems more fair.
