Bouchon Bistro Yountville Reviews from The Last Year

Seated quickly with a midweek appointment, service up and down but mostly very professional and efficient. The food was excellent, though my son felt the trout was underseasoned. Overall a very good experience!
Great food. Too loud
Noisy. Wife and I went for dinner. Had reservations and were sat immediately. It was a small marble topped table but the iron base was so large, there was no room for your feet. Very Noisy. Our table bread was overcooked; you couldn’t tear it let alone chew it. They also provide very good pistachios with the bread. It’s very noisy. Our bin salad was split for us and was nice and crisp with a tasty dressing. The wine we ordered was good but pricey. For our entrees we got the mussels entree (hot) and the Trout almondine. Both were very good. Very loud. Great crème brûlée for dessert. Also a Carajillo Coffee drink thats made with liquor 43. Very good. Lastly, Bouchon is so friggin loud. They’ve got the 80’s music cranked up and diners have to raise their voices to be heard. With high ceilings and hard surfaces everywhere, it’s deafening. You’d think they could play some softer music at a much lower volume to bring the noise down. It is supposed to be a French bistro after all. I imagine the employees go home stressed from repeated exposure to the loudness and having speak with raised voices all night.
Another restaurant in Yountville that did not disappoint! I
Another restaurant in Yountville that did not disappoint! I made a reservation on tock 2 days before, and I noticed a lot of open times. I believe you can make a reservation the same day if you wanted to. We came on a Monday for lunch and decided to sit outside since the weather was so nice. The patio area is not that big, but I didn't feel cramped and there were many open 2 and 4 seaters. Since they were known for their escargots, I decided to order that as an appetizer. The shell didn't come with it but instead the top was Bouchon Bakery puff pastry and the bottom were the snails. The parsley-garlic butter seasoning was delicious. The complementary bread was warm and the butter was out of the world. I also ordered the Steak Frites, Salmon Fume, Boudin Blanc. The steak was tender and the fries were crispy. I've never had an entire white sausage as a dish and it completely blew my mind, especially with the potato puree. I will definitely be back for another lunch or maybe even dinner. So glad I get to check off another restaurant on my Yountville list!
The food at Bouchon is always delicious.
Everytime im in napa i must come here. The waitstaff is very attentive and sensitive to our requests. We sat outside this dinner and even know were were basically next to the sidewalk the foliage around the area made us feel secluded and have a private dining experience. I can't recommend tjis place enough. The ghundi is amazing we ordered it twice. The ghundi is pillow like and the parmesan cream adds a lil funk that enhances the truffle The Gigot D'agneau. The lam is thinly sliced and cooked very well. The fat from the lamb goes well with the brightness and acidity of the ratatouille and the croutons and a nice crunch The peach pavlova was delicious. My partner is mot a fan of peaches but they loved this. The pavlova was nice and crisp and added a nice contrast to the vanilla like cream im the center and the peach sauce around the pavlova added fhe flavor to those two elements. The plum sorbet was cute aswell super smooth but nothing too special

Yes it's true that you do sit fairly close to those next to you. However, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. We enjoyed the Laitue salad which was light and flavorful, as well as the Croque Madame with truffle fries. The croque Madame was warm and gooey. The fried egg on top was cooked perfectly and the truffle fries were some of the best we have ever had. This was a perfect lunch spot on this sunny California day.
Food is well prepared but not memorable.
The hostess was very kind. However the service can be better from our server. We had to ask for more bread and water re-fill which you normally wouldn't have to ask for at a restaurant at this calibre. I also noticed that other ppl at the surrounding tables were getting their water refilled. It felt like a passive aggressiveness that is simply unprofessional.
Excellent food.
Good service. Can't go wrong. It is pricey as is most of Napa but worth it.

I have heard about this place for a long time , we finally made it here! We tried a few items: French onion soup, escargot and crème brûlée!!! The bomb!!! We also got a cheese plate (piano forte), pate, steak frites, and leg of lamb. House white wine. Everything was really tasty... it was more food than we can eat. So next time I think I'll just get the French onion soup and escargot, because those were the most delicious! Oh and the tables were reaaaaally close to each other. Space was tight when all the tables were filled. I wasn't expecting that, so just wanna give you a heads up.

Got the chance to try Bouchon for lunch, surprisingly they were open on a Sunday afternoon for party of 4 when I had booked the resy the day prior at peak summer time. Food was excellent, the French onion soup was gooey of cheese and well balanced with the carmelized onions inside. Friends ordered other dishes I can't remember but they said they enjoyed their food. The chicken of the Poulet Roti was by far the most tender and juicy chicken I've had! Service is always attentive to details. Wish the bread was warm, came out pretty cold and wasn't what I had expected :/
A disappointing experience in what is supposed to be a “Michelin star” restaurant.
A disappointing experience in what is supposed to be a “Michelin star” restaurant. My husband and I are visiting Napa for the first time and this restaurant came highly recommended to us. We ordered the Leg of Lamb and the Flat Iron Steak which you would expect some fat on the Lamb and the Steak to be “thinly cut”, how wrong were our expectations! The Lamb was returned as it was inedible, basically we were paying for four circle cuts of fat. Not sure how a chef thinks it’s ok to serve that to a paying customer. My husband was asked if he wanted something else at which point I was already well into my “ok” piece of steak and chips so he shared the remainder of my meal otherwise he would of been eating alone by the time something else came! What’s disappointing is the bill arrived and whilst the Lamb had been removed there was no other gesture for the inconvenience and poor meal we had received. Therefore, it was down to us as the customers to make a point to the Manager. Also paying $115 for a bottle of Wine (one of the cheapest!), you would like to enjoy some food with it. Maybe they need to speak to Bottega over the road and find out what they are getting right, because the food, service and drink on our first evening was exceptional!
love Yountville location! Escargo and French onion soup all
love Yountville location! Escargo and French onion soup all the way! Of course truffles fries & mussels! Tables are tiny but they are very good at clearing plates out. Mimosa - they make it super strong! Love them They have pastas if you ask the server. I got truffle ravioli pasta which I only enjoyed truffles because I was too full. Once we are done we would usually go to next door for coffee and macaroons. Back here pretty often.
First, let me say, this is the first review I've left a
First, let me say, this is the first review I've left a restaurant in years. My wife and I have traveled the world for years, so we have had exposure to multiple dining experiences. We decided to share our 40th wedding anniversary at Bouchon Bistro. On our initial reservation, we let them know that it was our anniversary and my wife was lactose intolerant. Several emails were sent back and forth, so they knew our situation. When we arrived, they wished us happy anniversary and noted my wife was lactose intolerant. We thought this was a great start. However, our waiter was at best disinterested. He offered us tap or sparkling water. I took the tap but when my wife requested sparkling he huffed and rolled his eyes. He brought out bread, but noted my wife couldn't have butter. With that, he just stood there. We suggested perhaps you could bring olive oil instead for her to dip. We're no chefs, and we thought of that. We ordered a bottle of wine, and we were told it comes with an olive tamponade dip with ricotta. We reminded our waiter that my wife can't have it. A normal response from a restaurant would have been either, let me make it without the ricotta or offer something else. Instead, he just told us that I guess she can't eat that. When ordering entree's, he would tell us every time something had dairy, but when we asked if they could accommodate my wife, he just said no, basically take it or leave it. I've had better more accommodating service at chain restaurants than Bouchon. As a matter of fact, even TGIFridays gives you a piece of cake to celebrate your birthday, nothing was done at Bouchon. In summary, if you're looking for decent food at a high price with poor service, this is the place for you.
Not surpised they lost their Michelin star!
I'm being generous with the 2 stars here because I enjoyed the salad and the chocolate sauce I had with dessert. Sadly, the main course was not at all enjoyable. I don't like to send anything back to the kitchen but, I came very close to sending back the trout almondine which was served luke warm, mushy and oddly too salty and too bland at the same time. I don't believe they pan fried it at all since there was no sear and no oil/butter on it. They either steamed it or, knowing Keller's love of sous vide, served it straight out of a plastic bag with a ridiculously tiny drop of sauce smeared on the side of the plate. I'm not particularly surprised this restaurant lost their Michelin star if they can't be bothered to pan fry a trout. On the upside, the green beans served with the fish were delicious and next time I want to spend $38.00 on a plate of green beans (never) I will definitely come back. Servers were rushed and grumpy. The waiter seemed annoyed I didn't want the mustard he brought to the table (without asking) and the sommelier barely stuck around long enough to make sure we didn't spit out the wine before hurrying off with a scowel on his face. I am at least thankful that my husband did not succeed in getting us a reservation at The French Laundry where we could've been charged twice as much to say we ate at a Thomas Keller restaurant-- not including the cost of the alcohol required to make the experience less painful. I've forbidden my significant other from choosing any more restaurants by "celebrity" chefs. I haven't been to one that I wasn't underwhelmed by but, I came to Bouchon Bistro with an open mind because how the heck can you mess up simple French classics like trout almondine?! I don't mind spending several hundred dollars on a special occasion dinner, unfortunately we didn't get a meal worth anywhere near what we paid for at Bouchon Bistro.
3.5 stars: great food, mediocre service, too crowded.
Problems: 1. Too many tables crowded together. The place was so tightly packed together that when our neighbor went to grab his wallet his handed ended up in my back pocket! Joking aside, we had people within a foot and a half of us on either side. You had to whisper to not be overheard. When the woman next to us tried to slip out of her seat her backside brushed along the edge of our table. It was uncomfortable for us to watch, and embarrassing for her. 2. Indifferent service. The waiter was rushing around the whole time. She mailed in her pleasantries. The bus person asked us twice during the meal if she could take our plates before we were finished. Good stuff: The food was superb. We would return despite all the negatives.
Great Food. Will Not Go Back
Great Food. Will not go back. For some context, my wife and I have been to Joel Robuchon, Guy Savoy and Le Cinq in Paris multiple times plus Per Se and other great restaurants in New York in addition to Surf Club in Miami. We were so excited to try Bouchon Bistro. We also walked out disappointed. When we arrived, we were given a choice between interior dining where the noise was really loud or on the patio with the only two untaken tables with the sun beating down on us. Given the choice, we took the patio seating. Mistake. It was miserable and they were eventually able to move us. When we go out for dinner, we want great food, great wine and great service. Bouchon delivered on the great food. Everything was delicious. However, we ordered a great bottle of French wine, not too expensive at $400, and enjoyed it. However, for the rest of the evening we poured all remaining wine. The sommelier never checked in again. Also, the service was more factory model. Great food served like McDonalds. It was presented with a perfunctory description. No emotion and no passion for the food. Also, our bread service was forgotten. Half way through I reminded the server. So right before the entrees we got bread. The attitude was enjoy, you are at a Thomas Keller restaurant. Of all of my Thomas Keller experiences, this was so disappointing. Anyway, I hope Bouchon focuses on delivering a great dining experience instead of just trying to turn tables. This was not their proudest moment.
Celebratory luncheon
Amazing experience. Ambience is the small restaurant was unique. Service was fantastic. We started with escargot, which was done to perfection. I had the lamb and my husband had the steak frites. Both were delicious. We topped off our meal with Creme Brulé and a wonderful cup of cappuccino. All is all it was a great experience!
Atmosphere: you felt like you were actually in France in a Bistro. Service: good. Food: good.
This was my second time here. I had Thursday 7:45 PM dinner reservations for 2. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated. Nothing has changed, tables still jammed together. Besides that, I still love the feel and look of this restaurant. Complementary bread and butter were placed on our table. Shawna was our server, nice and friendly. We ordered cocktails while deciding what to order. Not being super hungry, we ordered the Escargot, Onion Soup and we were able to share a Steak Frites. The soup and escargot were excellent. My friends steak was cooked perfectly to his request. mine was extremely rare. I sent it back to be cooked more, obviously having to wait. Finally it came back cooked perfectly. My friend an I though both agreed, it was not the best cut of beef, very hard to cut and tough. Both cuts of meat had a lot of silverskin throughout and at this caliber of a restaurant... it's a disappointment. Atmosphere: you felt like you were actually in France in a Bistro. Service: good. Food: good.
Not what it used to be, sadly.
It used to be our go to spot, loved the food offered for breakfast, no longer. Not only do they not serve breakfast at 10am now, the other choices are just too far out there for morning fare. So very disappointed in this place, the food is still good, but we long for our lovely brunch menu that offered some delicious breakfast items. Now, if you want onion soup at 10am, it's the best in the world.
Exceptional
I want to say ‘You forget how great this place is’ but you don’t forget because it’s so exceptional. Browse the photos to get an idea of what you’d like to order, it’s hard to go wrong. It felt like we were seated at the best table in the house in the windowed bar area where we ordered the White Sausage with Whipped Potatoes and the Croque Madame. Both prepared to perfection.
Had their special of the day from the blackboard: Gnudi
Had their special of the day from the blackboard: Gnudi with shaved truffles, ($70). The ceremony of the truffle VIPA arriving in a red box with a humidity gauge on it's side, escorted by 2 servers, was humorous. But at least they didn't get stingy with it; they shave enough for the 5 pieces of Gnudi. Bread was good, but truthfully, I've had some far better ones from a French Bakery in Berkeley. Roasted Beet Salad was good, but, again, was it "wow" caliber that I was expecting from a single-star Michelin restaurant? For me, it didn't meet my expectation. Service was good however.
the lobster should always be the best one.
the oyster are not recommend anymore. It is fresh though but too salty for me( personally. It is not necessary to get a platinum just order half lobster depends on how many people. For appetizer I would recommend the devil egg and the smoked salmon. Both of them taste very interesting. For main course I prefer the lamb. It is juice compared to the chicken and if you choose the steak instead just remember make the truffle fries! If you want a Chardonnay with your meal for a price range 300-400 I would recommend William Fèvre. 2021 have the most interesting taste when compare to 2016 2018.
the food was very good, close to the finest we 3 ever had
the food was very good, close to the finest we 3 ever had but not quite a perfecto 10. the salade d'endives was nice and we splurged on the roti d' entrecote ribeye for $185, my sense is that it might've been had at another steak joint for 50% that price and i prob would've thought that was still pricey... but this is supposed to be fine fine french dining, oui? we did get some sides to go with - sauteed spinach/epinards, shrooms, and champignons de paris/caulflowers - all pretty decent and not cheap, but again - fffd, oui? i liked their table bread free of charge and had some leftover to bring back to the crib. lastly, we succumbed/porked out on a lemon cake for dessert. total damage? - almost $340... bring the gold amex if you go, and you should because yolo/yodo... btw, our server bsapp was very nice and took some pix for us and with us, oui oui!!!
Best experience in Yountville, from beginning to end.
Arrived early, sat at bar, enjoyed a tasty Negroni. Ate everything at lunch, tons of amazing food. Didn't take a lot of pictures in Yountville, because social media people are really ruining the dining experience...subtle pic of my food is one thing, but it's like a photo shoot in some of these places.
We had high expectations.
Our service was excellent but the food was just ok. The short rib was my favorite.
I love this bakery.
They have wonderful pastries and bread. I have yet to try a sandwich from them. I love their chai tea as well. They have really good service. It may be a wait depending on the time of day but really worth it.
Divine dining experience! After a less than good
Divine dining experience! After a less than good experience for a Sunday breakfast a few months ago, I hesitatingly made dinner reservations for a Saturday evening. Off-the-charts experience, French onion soup, steak frites, and the vanilla creme brulee were beyond delicious. Service was attentive, and we were able to enjoy our dinner and not feel rushed. Thanks for a special evening!
I had high hopes.
Sadly I was not impressed by bouchon bistro. (The bakery on the other hand is amazing). The biggest issue for me was the fact that they packed us in. I got so claustrophobic I had to leave part way through the meal (friends paid). The sat us and pushed the table all the way up to our stomachs. Feet were crammed back and people on both sides. It's was insane. Then the food came. Salad was great, soup was ok...service was ok...gnocchi was the saddest thing ever. Seriously bad. Bread was wonderful. Cocktails were good...also...that is no escargot. Wouldn't go back. If they opened up the space a bit maybe I wouldn't be so cranky about the subpar food.
We came here for a nice Mother's Day treat.
We didn't have a reservation but were lucky enough to wait a bit and get seated at a table. It was very busy, and the space is quite compact. Since this is a pretty pricey and well known spot, we were definitely expecting a top tier experience. My family and I all ordered different dishes to get a good sample of the menu, and the food was beautiful and delicious. Unfortunately our experience was ruined when my brother went to ask where the restroom was to a passing waiter and instead of giving him a direction, responded with "I'm not your waiter" in an unhelpful and dismissive tone. We understand that the waiters are very busy, but we believe this isn't a professional way interact with guests just looking for a restroom. We did end up bringing this up to our waiter and host who apologized for the interaction. While the ambiance and food provided a pretty good experience overall, it's a bit difficult to overlook the service.

Mmmm so we were bummed that French Laundry was so hard to get into but enthusiastic that chef Thomas Keller has another restaurant right there- Bouchon. Everything was delicious! The waiter's recommendations were spot on and we honed in our newly Napa acquired wine appreciation skills to pair our wine perfectly. Definitely a must eat place!!!
TURN DOWN THE MUSIC!
Food-flawless. Service-excellent (and friendly). Abbreviated wine list-helpful (makes choosing simpler). This is only a 4/5 review though. The noise level is intense. It is a small dining room. I understand background music when the room is less than half full. Maybe you won’t hear a conversation 2 tables away. At full capacity the music just unnecessarily adds to the noise level. It is difficult to hear the people across the small table from you.
Prepare for disappointment
Off season, Napa Valley there should be no excuses so prepare for disappointment. The beef bourguignon was a watery mush; The Salade Lyonnaise, salty globs of wetness (drenched, not dressed); “gnocchi” was, to be polite, not gnocchi (fried potato bread atop green ooze?) Most the clientele seemed too drunk to notice or care — as the wine seems to be this bistro’s raisin d’etre. Recommendation: avoid if you are planning to eat. Oh well!
Delicious but Rushed
It's challenging for a restaurant like this to live up to its reputation. Husband and I went for a delayed anniversary celebration on our first night in the area. Fun, bustling atmosphere. Very attentive service. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and gave helpful selections. Another server removed the bones from my sole as if she moonlights as a neurosurgeon. Impressive! Escargot appetizer was wonderful. Sole was good if unremarkable. Husband had Gnudi with truffles(pasta made from ricotta) that knocked our socks off. Lemon sorbet for dessert was refreshingly tart. The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that we felt very rushed the whole meal. We had a 5:30 seating and we were in our car by 7:00. We aren't ones who tend to linger, but servers were consistently asking to remove plates with food on them. Due to the richness of the food, we would sometimes put down our forks to savor and take a break, but if the fork went down a server was trying to bus the table. This rushed feeling was compounded by similar service at the tables next to us. They really pack you in tightly and they are turning tables quickly, so the atmosphere was unrelaxed. Since this was a big splurge for us, I found the pace to be a little disappointing.
A notable experience.
Lunch with friends proved to be a notable experience. The food quality and variety was excellent, the service attentive and inconspicuous, and the overall ambience most enjoyable. Sunchoke soup followed by rainbow trout were both to be recommended. These were well accompanied by the house white wine (a sauvignon blanc) from a local winery. There is an enticing selection of deserts.
Not like it used to be
We were celebrating a special occasion and thought we would go to Bouchon because we had enjoyed the food here before. We were disappointed. Service was lacking. Food was served cold. The manager was great in correcting the situation, but we probably will not be going back soon.
Great place for a really good meal.
Food was great. Service was great. Decor is really well done. Highly recommend. it is pricey. Many go to the bakery next door for the excellent baked goods.
“Bugs “
We were visiting Napa from the East Coast on October 26,of this year. We loved Yountville and chose to dine at Bouchon that evening. We were enjoying our meal when a large cockroach crawled out from under my plate , scittered across the table and ran under the bread. I was so nauseated, could not touch any of my remaining food and waved to our waiter. Previously congenial, he replied to my concern dismissively. We then asked for the manager who stated , “ There are always bugs in restaurants in Napa because of the vineyards !” Obviously this was not a typical “bug” that chose to come out of the dark and ruin our meal. When you see one, you can be sure there are hundreds elsewhere in the restaurant. We were getting our coats to leave when the waiter slammed a glass with our bill in it. He stated, “Taken care of !” and walked away. We never asked for have our bill “ taken care “ of. And he was rude and abrupt with us despite his previous congeniality. I’m just as upset about the cockroach as I was about the demeanor of the waiter and manager. A beautiful day in Yountville but quite an unpleasant night.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
