Truly outstanding in every way
Absolutely exceptional and unparalleled quality in all aspects. It surpassed all expectations and set a new standard of excellence.
Be the first to ReplyBottiglieria 1881 is truly worth a detour
I went to Bottiglieria 1881 with my two daughters, 11 and 13 at time, in October 2022. This was their first Michelin Star experience, and they ended up having a blast. As did I😊 Every course was out of this world, combining excellent flavors with supernice playful presentations. The restaurant has a relaxed, but yet classy atmosphere, with a staff that is professional and social. This is truly worth a detour, and my kids still talk about the waiter inviting them back to eat there again when they are old enough to have the wine pairing😅

The manager refuses to accommodate simple requests, ever since they received the michelin stars this restaurant has become arrogant. Michal is a horrible general manager.
Be the first to ReplyLived up to expectations
We had dinner here a few days before it was announced they had achieved their second Michelin star, that was no surprise. The food was an adventure of tasting dishes, all beautifully presented with excellent service to match and deserving of their second star.
Be the first to ReplyAfter a good beginning, disappointment at the end.
Everything was great, however... there was a "small" glitch when issuing the bill. I asked Mr. Kamil what the small print on the back of the menu "12.5% service fee" means? Of course, I had no complaints that the fee was not included in my bill, but Mr. Kamil took the bill without a word and after 10 seconds brought another one with PLN 210.13 added. I was immediately "punished" for my silly question. Sorry, but it looked like there were 2 bills prepared. If I hadn't said anything, I would have stayed with the first one, and the second one was ready for the "suckers" who were sticking out. Even if it was a mistake (I don't believe in mistakes in a 2** Michelin restaurant), it should have been covered by the person who made the mistake or by the restaurant, not the customer! In general, in my opinion, adding 12.5% to the bill at this price level (PLN 1,000 per person) is a gross exaggeration and simple greed. When buying a Ferrari, no one adds 12.5% for 2 hours explanations of how all the on-board systems work... It would have turned out the same, because I was planning to give a "fat" tip, but I stuck with a symbolic one and... we left the restaurant in disgust, promising ourselves NEVER EVER "Bottiglieria 1881" again! I emphasize that this absolutely does not apply to the excellent taste of the dishes, the brilliantly prepared menu and the mastery of Mr. Przemysław. Thank you, greetings to the entire crew, especially Mr. Luka, who promised that next time he would bring his Sambuca, which unfortunately was not on the liqueurs menu.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible experience, worth every single penny.
Food, service, and all-around experience was mind-blowing. Visited for a 10 year wedding anniversary and was blown away by the attention to detail that went into everything. As a couple, we were miles out of our depth, haha, but treated amazingly well and food was out of this world. Worth every penny.

There is nothing to say about this restaurant other than it is truly marvellous. The minute you walk through the door you know you’ve arrived for a gastronomic delight. Chefs are visible and if you are eating a dish that they’ve created then they serve it and explain everything about it. There wasn’t anything that I could fault from management, waiting staff and sommeliers

Be the first to ReplyThe service of this restaurant is lower than a hot dog car canteen.
We wanted to book a place to eat here one month ago. There was nothing available for any of the days so we put ourselves on the waiting list. We contacted the hotel on its email quite a few times about the chances of an availability and they only answered once saying that they don't know but they might have. Anyway, nearer to the day we emailed them again, and of course they didn't reply. On the day before the date we wanted the reservation, they tried to contact us during early afternoon, while we were on a flight, once and as we were flying our phone was off the network. When we arrived we tried to call, but the answering machine was telling us to contact them through email (again) as they don't answer calls after 4pm. We emailed them 2 times telling them that the time they allocated us (5pm) was too near some other visit we had in the salt mine and that we would like to ask them if it was ok to wait for us as we didn't know if the tour was to take more time than it would for us to be able to reach their restaurnant from the salt mine. Of course again in the salt mine we didn't have signal to call them. When we finished and we saw that they didn't reply to our two emails, which were a reply of their email telling us that there was an availability at 5pm, we decided to go there to see if we had a table. The reception guy was very rude, he didn't even let me inside the restaurant and he came outside to tell me, that they gave the places to someone else cause we didn't reply. He gave me the excuse that he didn't had my replies and so i showed him my emails. He said he never received them, but then again, he didn't answer to the previous times i asked him. Obviously he couldn't be bothered cause his restaurant was fully booked. His attitude showed everything. If michelin guide cares about the service in the restaurants they recommend surly this one must be bottom rating. Instead of them we visited another place that was recommended on the michelin guide and we had a wonderful time. If snobbism is what they sell, surely they have 3 michelin stars. If they are in the service industry, on service they get minus 3 stars.

Perfect tasting menu experience. Each dish finely crafted and full of originality. Wine pairing included some superb unusual European wines that enhanced what was a true lay memorable meal.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic evening!
My husband and I spent a fantastic evening at this establishment on the 1 December. A real gastronomic experience, a joy for all the senses. We both, as we usually do when taking part in a fine dining experience, had the full taster menu paired with the wine selection. Each course was a real wow, with the employees taking real pleasure in explaining how to get the most for the dish. The wine waitor too was extremely attentive. A real creative take on Polish cuisine and the passion for local ingredients is clear to see. A must visit when you come to Krakow, see the masters at work! Ask for a birds eye view by the kitchen, a real experience!

One of my favorite Michelin experiences. Beautiful atmosphere and service from the start of our dinner. The food was sensational from start to finish. The Pierogi was a standout dish for me and one of the best things I have ever tasted! Wine pairing was very matched with the food. I put this place up there with the only 2 star restaurant I have dined in as the food and service matched it beyond a doubt. Really reasonably priced for the experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyDistinctive modern Polish cuisine
Bottiglieria is located in the wonderful city of Krakow and is currently the sole Michelin starred restaurant in the region, so our expectations were relatively high. The menu is a tasting menu only format with a full version or slightly abridged one, although as we always do, we chose the longest option in order to be able to sample the greatest number of dishes. The home cured meats (or vegetarian version) with homemade pickles made for a great start with delicious and varied flavours and of course its strong Polish roots. All of the courses were well thought out and had a seasonal focus and as a menu it worked very well with contrasting hot and cold dishes to bring a good balance. Highlights included their version of pierogi, which was really more of an agnolotti with the flavours of pierogi, and a fabulous a la minute cinnamon "bun" for dessert. The service was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. The wine list deserves a special mention as it has some hard to find bottles as well as some wines with a little more age than one is used to finding on wines lists of relatively young restaurants which is always a welcome surprise. All in all they thoroughly deserve their star and we'll look forward to sampling their cuisine in another season.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular dinner
Had such an amazing meal here. The three of us all did the complete tasting menu and I did the wine pairings. The service was incredible and the presentation of the dishes just beautiful. We all loved the food - though the dessert fell a bit flat for me as did the onion dish. Highly recommend this place - though be prepared for a 3 hour dinner.
Be the first to ReplyA polish masterpiece!
A fantastic experience from start to finish. We were taken on a journey of food both complete and artistic. It truly was amazing. The service and attention of the waiters and the chefs were what sealed the deal! I’m definitely going back!

This has been a very enjoyable evening for my wife and myself and I need to admit that expectation was quite high and the restaurant really delivered great experience. The food was ver good, the composition of and variate of tastes was great. The service was typical to this type of restaurant, highly quality but nothing extraordinary. The wine selection was not too much firing our taste profile but wines quality were not to be questioned really. Just a preference difference really. Definitely recommend.

Simply an unbelievably meal in every respect. Delicious food. Beautiful presentation. Attentive service. Watching the chefs prepare meals behind a tiny, open kitchenette was poetry in motion. Not to be missed when visiting Krakow. Not inexpensive. But for the only Michelin starred restaurant in Krakow, it was worth the experience.

Every single dish that is a piece of art. Perfect wine paring and excellent service. Thank you so much for a great time :-)
Be the first to ReplyTremendous in every way
Bottiglieria 1881 is a small wine cellar in Kazimierz, the Jewish district of Krakow, which has been brought to life again after a long period of neglect. Their website states "Bottiglieria 1881 cuisine is a feast of tastes, distinctive combinations and diversity of structures. Our chefs ensure the visual side of the dishes, that is why they look like masterpieces". I can truthfully say that they excel beyond that in every way.
I booked this gorgeous venue as part of food pilgrimage of Krakow whilst there on a 9 day tour. The restaurant is a tastefully decorated venue with highly attentive and efficient staff. Special mention to Michal who greeted me with such warmth and genuine interest at the door. Kamil who waited on my table was exceptional and Ola (who was my Sommelier) had knowledge and passion about her wines.
Every part of the experience is quietly and efficiently choreographed to give the best experience. I had the table directly across from the kitchen and felt like I was the only person in the restaurant with the level of service I got. I had the full experience taster menu together with the prestige pairings of wine. It was phenomenal. Every course was sublime.
Was it worth the experience.....well yes! It was my absolute pleasure to meet Przemysław Klima who came to my table and to watch him and his close-knit team several feet away as they quietly produced masterpiece food. They reminded me of why I enjoy wonderful food.
Thanks for a great experience.
Magnificent dinner
One word: Splendid!
First of all I have to say that the service was wonderful. The restaurant is elegant and charming as you would expect from a Michelin star place. They really show their expertise whether it is the food or simply anything else. They have taken everything into account. Yet they manage to preserve the right amount of relaxedness. That really makes the restaurant feel welcoming and approachable. Consequently your dinner will be a pleasant experience. When the staff knows what they are doing they do not have to be uptight to seem professional.
The food was delicious. Most of the dishes were outstanding and everything else were still amazing! Especially the venison and calamari broth appertizers, quail main and sorrel sorbet were fantastic.
I had requested a individualised menu for my girlriend in advance since she is a pescetarian. I informed the restaurant about a week earlier and they did a great job and really showed their creativity. Their replacements for her menu were succesful. Sadly the replacement for quail did not quite add up to the "real" version but was still tasty.
In my opinion the wine pairing was desirable too but I am not a sophisticated sommelier so you can be your own judge. They had an enormous winelist so you will definitely find something suitable.
We got a brilliant table right in front of the chefs. The restaurants interior design was elegant and even the toilets were exquisite.
All in all, this restaurant might easily be the best in Poland. It is a true gem and fine dining experince so their prices are not the cheapest in Krakow. I would still say they have an excellent quality-price ratio and they are more affordable than many other Michelin star restaurants in Europe. Despite their 12,5% additional service charge they are a bargain in their category.
Personally I would be more pleased if they included the service charge in their prices (of course then they would have to raise every price a little but I would be ok with that) but this was well informed. So truly nothing to complain and merely my preference differs from theirs.
Finally, a huge thank you for Michal and everyone else in the restaurant staff for making our visit special and unforgettable!
Unique Polish
Every dish was an experience, it had its polish essence with its own uniqueness. Would definitely go back to try they’re different tasting menus from the seasons. Amazing service and great wine pairing as well.
Be the first to ReplyPolish meets New Nordic
We had a very good experience at Bottigliera. After being welcomed nicely by the staff, we noticed how the interior was different from the typical Michelin-starred restaurant, made in a more informal, New Nordic style. The table was very small, which did get a bit awkward at times, but otherwise the informal style worked nicely.
Of course, the food was very good, although perhaps slightly at the lower end of the spectrum of 1-star restaurants I’ve visited. Some dishes were excellent and perfectly balanced, such as the truffle pierogi. The pre-dessert sorbet was wonderful and different, too. Other dishes were good but nothing special, such as the beef with beetroot — that dish felt just a little bit bland and the meat wasn’t particularly tender. (Incidentally, we had a very, very similar dish at the Copernicus restaurant in Cracow a few days later, where it certainly fared better. They do not have a star.)
The service was quite good, polite and fun! It would have been nice to greet the chef, though, which most other tables got to do.
All in all, it was a very nice evening at Bottigliera, and by Western European price standards, it’s a bargain. They certainly deserve the Michelin star, but at the same time, for me, it did lack the stand-out dishes that really elevate the experience. Still highly recommended.
Very enjoyable tasting menu
Bison Grass oil, venison, ooohhh the truffles, and the halibut. The sorrel desert with the sorbet was scrumptious, I also didn' t know there were German wines that nice.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, service and good value (for someone who lives in Paris, London, Rome etc.)
Excellent food, friendly and attentive service, good value. We have been fortunate enough to be able to eat at many Michelin star restaurants over the years and believe that this restaurant is on track to get its second star. Book early in order not to be disappointed.
