Just ok
The restaurant is pretty with nice decor and a nice ambience. The food was ok but not great. I never expect ethnic restaurants in the US to be authentic, but the food should still taste good.
Be the first to ReplyBohemian Culinary Delight: A Stunning Experience in Traditional Czech Cuisine
The experience from the Bohemian cuisine was excellent. We ordered typical Czech goulash for brunch, and it was delicious. The restaurant itself offers a beautiful traditional Bohemian background, and the waitress told us that they serve traditional Bohemian food for dinner. I cannot wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyA Genuine Gem
What a gem! I am first generation Czech and have lived in NYC for 15+ years. Tonight was our first time trying this spot, and we loved it. I never knew CZ had great wine. The Budvar beer however was ๐ฏ.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Czech cuisine, must visit hidden gem โ๏ธ
Absolute top gem in NYC. Wonderful food, great service , staff friendly and lovely Moravian wineโฆ best beer for those who enjoy it too. The veal schnitzel was to die for potato salad better than my moms ;-), and goulash soup reminded me of truly homemade one nothing artificial. Clean , friendly environment Will definitely come back again and can only highly recommend to all. Thank you for fabulous Sunday dinner finished off with my favorite BECHEROVKA
Be the first to ReplyA bit of the Czech Republic on the Upper East Side
We really enjoyed the experience of dining at Bohemian Spirit. The service was exceptional; our server Hana was very knowledgeable and gracious, and our orders came out well spaced and nicely presented. The pork schnitzel was perfectly breaded; the accompanying potato salad was reminiscent of a type I ate as a child. The goulash and borscht won rave reviews from our fellow diners, as did the roasted pork. The pilsner beer was a perfect accompaniment to the meal, although for the non-drinkers among us there were no non-alcoholic options. All in all, a very nice dinner.
Be the first to ReplyA joke !! Disgrace to the Czech Rep. ๐๐ป
Just visited, October 16th 2022, unbelievableโฆ We were a group of 4, had one meal each, in total 10 large beers, 3 small onesโฆ after waiting for the small ones for 20 minutes - ordered small because the large ones were not cold, pipes not clean, etc. - asked for the bill, ended up paying over $300 and had to pay 6 small beersโฆ when told the only waitress (who did not speak Czech) that there must have been a mistake and that we didnt have 6 small beers, but only 3, she started screaming, calling us being cheap and after we paid she slammed the door behind us. WOW, congrats !!! Not really good publicity to the Czech Republic. Coming from Prague, travelling all across the US for more than two weeks, having every single day lunch and dinner outside, this was by far the worst experience !!! We really all felt ashamed. Sorry, NOT SORRY.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious goulash and lovely atmosphere
We had a larger party and were placed in a private room, which was great for avoiding the crowds. However, we did miss out on the charming ambience of the main dining hall. The room has a lot of character, with stools and chairs hung up high on the walls, and a clear section of the flooring which gives you a glimpse into the restaurantโs large wine cage down below. The food was excellent โ the goulash was very hearty and flavorful. The beef was super tender. I also enjoyed trying the jaegerschnitzel as well. Perfect comfort food!
Be the first to ReplyChristmas dinner
Visited on Christmas Eve for a traditional Czech dinner. Food was great, especially the fish and potato salad. And great beer of course. Staff very friendly. Love the retro decor. Would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyGood neighborhood Czech
This is a neighborhood spot that you probably wouldnโt visit unless it was recommended. But it quite good with authentic Czech food . I usually have the duck and the schnitzel and they are consistently good each time. As is the beat salad.
Be the first to ReplyReally nice Czech restaurant
We went with friends, she grew up in Prague. It's not the first time we were there and we like it very much. Dale and I had goulosh & potato pancakes. Lots of people drinking mugs of beer. Had as an appetizer the drunken sausage which we all liked also. It's a fine restaurant once in a while.
Be the first to ReplyGreat traditional Czech food next to cultural center
We enjoyed great traditional Czech food that reminded us of meals we had during trips to Prague. I had the chicken schnitzel that came with mashed potatoes and a salad, others in the family had equally good Czech dishes with dumpling sides. We also got the beef tartare and mushroom soup (the daily special) as appetizers; both were good. If you are fond to Czech cooking, you'll like this.
Be the first to Replygreat cousine, terrible waitress
i went for sort holiday to NYC and as a czech i got idea to take few czech beers at bohemian spirit restaurant. everything was just fine, i got really good gulash, perfect pilsner urquell. unfortunatelly, when i wanted to pay the waitress started to attacked me that tip is too small and that i have to pay as it's usual in NYC (20%). She even told me to not come back if i'm not gonna pay that (she told me i should go to mc'donald instead). ... might be there's some habit in NYC, but for me personally this kind of behaving is unacceptable! after all, some other quest just told me that she got the same expierience with that waitress just week ago ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ. i'm really sad about that :/
Be the first to ReplySome nice highlights, but retaurant almost empty
I'm originally from Prague so wanted a Czech food fix. The highlight was the steak tatare, which was very tasty - I have a hard time fing a good one in the US. Also very good was the rye bread, which I also find hard to find in the US - the version sold in most super markets is not great. And, of course, the beer!
Be the first to ReplyA Must Bohemian Experience!
Great Czech cuisine! Schnitzel was thin and crispy, mash potatoes & potato salad were delicious & Latkes perfectly done. Must try the apple strudel which unlike others, are not overly sweet... & great when topped with vanilla ice cream & whip cream. They have a great menu selection. Relaxed ambiance with enough room between each tables. Nice bar area with huge beer selections. Definitely enjoyed the experience here. Will be back!
Be the first to ReplyVisit with family at Thanksgiving.
Small czech restaurant with authentic menu items. Very tasty food, great service at reasonable prices. I would recommend this for anyone wanting something different for a night out.
Be the first to ReplyNo potatoes , no mashed no potato salad ...again ??
So, this nice little place has good food, reasonable prices and nice staff. BUT there is an ongoing problem: They keep running out of food early in the evening. Either there is a shortage of potatoes on 73rd street or whoever runs heir kitchen need to either ship out or ship in.
The menu is very much dependent on various kinds of potato dishes and so its not like some nish dish in the far near corner of the menu. Still, this has happened to me about seven times, so you might ask yourself why did I keep coming back ? Because it is a nice restaurant, but enough is enough, this has become part of their routine; :we ran out of this, we ran out of that" - and the restaurant is half empty!
Are you guys really hell bent on going out of business or what? Time for changes in the kitchen!!
