Fresh selections, friendly staff and great ambiance.
We walked in not sure what are the expectations and have been blown away with the level of food quality.

Our server was so helpful so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations!

I've been craving sushi the past few weeks and remember seeing this place somewhere on social media, so I decided to try this place out! I got this order to-go for lunch, and the portion size of the Sushi Deluxe Platter was perfect with 10 nigiris and 6 sushi roll pieces! I really like the spicy salmon roll. I also like that you can taste the distinct flavor of each piece of nigiri. However, would I say that this platter satisfied my sushi craving? Probably not; it's a hard craving to satisfy, haha.

I visited Blue Ribbon Sushi and had a delightful experience, sampling a variety of rolls and some nigiri, complemented by a nice matcha. The ambiance was welcoming, and the attentive service made sure my water glass was always full. While the prices are a bit high, the quality and overall experience make me want to willing to return.

I personally love the creamy texture and oceanic flavor but I totally get if you don't! Blue ribbon sushi serves one of the fresh sushi I've ever had. It has a small, beautiful atmosphere, and the service is amazing! Are you an Uni fan? Insta: @thehungrysw
Be the first to ReplyNot nice people.
I arrived a half hour early for a noon reservation and requested to be permitted to sit at a table until they opened. No dice. Not even when I mentioned that I am 86 and that it was cold outside. Not even when I spoke to the manager.

If you are craving for raw fish in a budget friendly but still not too bad quality, Blue Ribbon is a good franchise restaurant that is not bad at all. This time I was hanging out with my friend in Soho, NYC. She came to this restaurant before and after shopping, we just want to go to Japanese place that is not too fancy. We tried Uni and we weren't crazy about it. My opinion, with regular like tuna or salmon they are fine but with some stuff that need to be quaily like Uni or fatty tuna, after you already tasted the better one when you try to not as good one, you will get turn off. Yes, we just wanted to give them a chance but it is was it is, you get what you pay.

I was in the mood for sushi and saw that this place was near by. On first impression, I thought "quiet and sleek". In fact, I don't remember if they even played music, if they did it was very low. It has a similar setup to many intimate Asian spots in the city. The food, however, was quite underwhelming. On average, rolls were about $17-$24, and I don't believe they were worth it due to the amount of food. The service also wasn't the best. It seemed like the waitress had little patience, but she answered our questions. I feel like there are much better sushi spots in nyc.
Be the first to ReplyGreat sushi place for a date night.
Super delicious and fresh sushi and a nice environment. Service was very good and fast as well!

Charming Sushi spot with an intimate setting and assortment of roll options (spicy lobster roll was a personal favorite of mine)--albeit very expensive. $20 a roll. 4.5/5 stars as a dinner spot.
Be the first to ReplySoooooo good! Sushi can be insanely expensive in Manhattan.
This was adorable and still delicious. So glad we found this little spot.
Be the first to ReplyI really liked it.

They will be extremely rude and disregarding if you don't like their food. I went with my husband to try their California rolls during our trip to NYC. When we got the rolls, we noticed the seaweed was on the outside. After trying it, my husband and I tried to figure out what to do because we had ordered three rolls. The chefs and wait staff began to talk about us while we were feet away. When we told the waitress we wanted the seaweed on the inside, she proceeded to tell us we should've said something before. We were never told that was an option. If we were asked how we wanted this seaweed, we would've said something. At the end, they were breathing down our necks for the check and for us to leave. When they received the check and we got up, we got a very rude and disrespectful good bye while others received a joyous and kind farewell.

Recommend the Sushi here it's a little on the expensive side but so worth it, we ordered a bunch of different rolls, wagyu dumplings and the creme brule was amazing.

Recently tried Blue Ribbon Sushi for a nice date night and really enjoyed it! The fish was fresh and tasty and service was relatively quick. I would recommend making a reservation beforehand in order to be seated right away. I went with my boyfriend on a Tuesday and there was still a pretty long wait for walkins at 7pm. I tried the Niji roll since I wasn't super hungry and found it to be the perfect amount and a great way to try 7 different types of fish in a tasty roll. My boyfriend tried one of the sushi platters with a spicy tuna roll and also really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is perfect for a nice dinner out, date night, or if you're able to make a res ahead of time, they did have some larger tables in the back. I've passed this place a few times and I've always wanted to try it since it looks so cute from the outside. I'd say it was just as nice, if not even better than expected!

I came here for a slightly upscale dinner to celebrate an anniversary. We made a reservation, which turned out to be smart because we saw some walk-ins being told the wait was going to be 45-60 minutes. And this was a Tuesday night.I ordered a sushi platter, which came with 7 different types of high quality sushi, as well as my choice of spicy tuna or California roll. Each piece of fish tasted fresh and the assortment was nice, with familiar fish like salmon and tuna alongside others I had never tried before. At $36, it was more than I would usually spend for sushi. But the quality certainly seemed to match the price, and I even left our meal fairly full despite being someone with a big appetite.Another positive - we initially made our reservation on OpenTable for 8pm, the earliest time available. I called the day of to ask if we could move it earlier, and they were happy to accommodate, letting me pick any time that worked for us.
Be the first to ReplyPossibly my favorite sushi in the city.
I crave their crispy rice spicy tuna roll regularly. Now I'm craving it just from writing about it! I have been with friends, but also alone. If going alone, ask to sit at the sushi bar. Fun to watch them make everything right there. The dark atmosphere inside is really nice and relaxing in a way. Totally recommend

Where do I begin? This was some of the best sushi I have ever had. Fresh, amazing flavors and an extensive menu. Must Try's: oxtail fried rice, eel wrapped in cucumber, crispy rice, and the yuzu margarita. The vibes are amazing, excellent service and a great ambiance! 10/10 meal!
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite sushi spot in Manhattan.
The ambiance is low key, the prices march the quality of the food, and the service is exceptional. I come here often for lunch or dinner. My favorite items are the crispy tuna and spicy tuna rolls. Blue Ribbon is a New York staple and always a great sushi option.

Be the first to ReplyCalifornian here who visited NYC & ate this delicious sushi.
We have really good sushi in California so I was skeptical trying sushi on the East Coast. While this place didn't disappoint my taste buds it certainly did disappoint my wallet - in fact, I'm still trying to figure out why my group of four left this restaurant $400.00 poorer and still hungry. We literally had pizza after. The food here was delicious don't get me wrong. But $28.00 for a sushi roll? $18.00 miso soup? Plus the servers forgot a few of our rolls. Overall sort of underwhelming & overpriced but if you have the money and time then try it out.

I'm not too fond of the sushi here, but Wagyu and Bone marrow fried rice is on point. They are not open late, but they do greet you very well when coming in.

When it originally opened, BRS was truly a Mecca of fine sushi in its quality and presentation. Visiting again after many years, I would have have to say its finest days are over. This restaurant feels tired, the service is overwhelmed and the preparation (at the hands of 4 standing sushi chefs) is rushed and utterly unremarkable (if not shameful by true Japanese standards). I could go on but really not necessary other than to say it's clear that in order to experience fine sushi dining these days, one must spend top top dollar in order to do so. BRS is not inexpensive. But it is disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyMy friend recommended this spot so we came here for dinner
My friend recommended this spot so we came here for dinner after work one night. The restaurant was intimate and cozy, featuring bar seats as well as booths. We ordered the crispy rice appetizer to share, which came with six pieces of spicy tuna atop a bed of crispy rice. It was spicier than we both expected, thanks to the jalapeño, but still super yummy. For the main course, we both ordered the sushi deluxe platter. The platter came with 10 pieces of sushi plus a roll of your choice from a set of options, for $44. I went with the spicy tuna roll. The platter featured a variety of different fish, all super fresh and tasty. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and felt like it was one of the more affordable sushi spots in the city.
