Blue Hill At Stone Barns Tarrytown Reviews from The Last Year
Worth the culinary experience
Awesome culinary experience. Filet to buttery soft, place is beautiful but I found that they “ran out” of filet which everyone was served, and tried to sneak a double short rib in its place (yes we noticed). Also learned they watered down the shots at the bar which was just wrong. Otherwise I loved the experience

We did the farm tour, followed by a reserved lunch in the cafeteria. A weekday tour costs $55, and shoots up to $75 for a weekend. We had such high expectations on this Friday tour, but were let down. It was a large crowd of about 16, and it was hard to hear. Also, many times there were private conversations with the guide, which many could not hear. We only made 3 stops: the greenhouse, the bakery, and the kitchen. I found that you could meander and do these on your own too (without paying). We did not go to field, or the barn, or see animals. We did get a shot of juice (flavored with our choice of mint), a dollar coin size of rice bread, and a slice of sausage to taste (also dollar coin size). We still never got the history of the farm. I would give this tour 1 star. Lunch on the other hand was fabulous. Staff was super friendly. Food was elegantly prepared and delicious. Favs were the green juice shot, lemon dressing for the salad, the focaccia with 3 different toppings, then the cheesecake like cream with berries. I was impressed by the good quality and the size. Very much worth $42 per person (no tip needed). I give the cafe food 5 stars. Hence an overall score of 3 stars. Save your $$ ands skip the tour. Just meander around and you'll get the same experience.
I am glad I was invited to this restaurant and did not have
I am glad I was invited to this restaurant and did not have to fork the astronomical bill. The lack of imagination serving dishes (they think they are so original serving dishes in jawbones), and the fact that they didn't cook half of them. Though good raw asparagus, I would expect a michelin star restaurant to work it a little more. The charcuterie plate didn't have enough pieces for each member of the table, so 2 of us had to share a small slice of dry pork sausage. I have been to many Michelin star restaurants and that would not have happened. Then they take you to the kitchen and they tell you the story of Martha, a milk cow that has been retired to pasture at beautiful Stone Barns. They should have left her in the fields. Toughest meat I've ever had. I give the restaurant 2 stars because the dessert was excellent.

Went to the 20th Anniversary Festival for Blue Hill at Stone Barns. They had a bunch of stations showing how they make their flatbread, bone char cheese, and grain sausage. Also had a tour of the vegetable fields and greenhouse. Tour guides were very knowledgeable and asked all of our questions. Although this was a 20th anniversary festival, they offer tours at the farm on a regular basis. Many come to Blue Hill at Stone Barns for the food, but I would recommend adding on a tour to your reservation. The barns and fields are just as nice as the building and restaurant area.
Farm to table literally
Take the train from Grand Central to Tarrytown along the Hudson and then Uber to the farm. We preordered the tray lunch which was delicious. The rhubarb tart was fabulous. Gorgeous setting and Lily the dachshund had a great time too.
What they charge is criminal for what you get, you eat
What they charge is criminal for what you get, you eat there then have to to dinner elsewhere, been there twice just to see if perhaps the first time was a mishap but not at all Well at least it's in a beautiful setting, But do yourselfs a favor come and have a a lil snack at the coffee shop Next door that is part of the farm, workers are super nice and stuff is good, I've been invited twice and both times I've told the friends who have invited us, save the money you would have spent on us and go out again tomorrow to another place, Again beautiful location

THE BEST, SECOND TO NONE!!!! Food, Service, Ambiance top class and top rating. Would recommend Blue Hill as a top destination restaurant.

I attended a private birthday party at Bluehill from 12-4 on a Sunday afternoon. I very much enjoyed the scenery and the ambiance inside the large room we had our party in. The servers were all very kind and helpful. The food was good but very small portions, as is typical with fine dining. My favorite was the third course, the meat was very tasty. The only thing I was bothered by was that the party went over by 30 minutes and the staff started immediately cleaning up, I felt very rushed and found this slightly rude considering this was a party of at least 30 people and I know it was an expensive bill. I would think that they'd treat high paying guests with some more courtesy, perhaps waiting until we all cleared the room before taking the linens off the table and moving the couches back. I found this distasteful and it cast a shadow on my experience of Bluehill.
The tasting menu was creative for sure, but seemed that
The tasting menu was creative for sure, but seemed that more effort was put into presentation and uniqueness than into creating great tasting food. More vegetable options were on the menu than proteins which was somewhat overwhelming after a while. Staff were amazing. Hope they are getting paid the way they deserve to be paid after the $2 million settlement in 2017 relating to unfair wage practices.
We went for my daughter's birthday celebration.
The reception, service, ambiance, and food were amazing. Just a few days before the dinner, I had dental work done and had some food restrictions. The chef graciously modified some of the dishes so that I could also enjoy the dinner. We had a great time!

giving 5 stars for the overall experience, but noting that based on food alone, i'd much prefer Le Bernardin or Jean Georges. we started with a tour of the greenhouse. it was a cold rainy night so we didn't see animals or the grounds. but it was still nice to learn about how they try to be sustainable. during out meal, we went to kitchen and sat a table there for a bit, which was interesting, and we got to see Fam Barber in action. i enjoyed the food, but definitely wasn't blown away as i am with, say, le bernadin, jean georges, gabriel kreuther, etc. think i will return to try the cafeteria. will wait awhile before going back to the main restaurant.
First off, what can I say about the wonderful wait staff.
The hostess, Ronnie, was top notch sweet! Then my waitress, Eddy, kept offering us water to keep our thirst quenched. I was utterly happy. Then, we ordered their homemade miso soup! What a treat! My favorite part of the meal was their duck ramen. Such a tender feeling of gratitude. A must visit for a wonderful price!

Came here for a celebratory family dinner after making a reservation a month prior. This place was all about the ambiance. Starting from when we set foot into the whole estate, the attention to detail from the seats, to the fireplace, to the tea while we waited to be seated were fantastic. After entering the main dining room, every plate, cup, and glass we used seems so carefully planned out and unique. There was an intermission halfway during our meal where we were taken to a different room where...bread or butter was made or something? It was the craziest thing I ever imaged to experience as part of a meal. At another point during our meal a whole dead pheasant was brought to our table to show us what it looked like, which was super cool. Service without a doubt was top notch for a fancy restaurant. Food was decent, the emphasis was on the fact that all food were naturally grown. The server poured our candle into our salad at one point, I guess to show that the oil from the candle was made from animals and it's edible. The experience was incredible, food was healthy, but overall I personally would have liked more meat in the meal. I was filled with what seemed like 40 different kinds of vegetables and I was craving meat. Overall would recommend the experience.
We had dinner in the Cafeteria, but there was nothing
We had dinner in the Cafeteria, but there was nothing "cafeteria-like" about it! Beautiful ambience, wonderful wine pairings and food beyond description! Service was dotting, but not overwhelming! Well done, Blue Hill at Stone Barns Cafeteria. I already have plans to join you for breakfast and lunch!
Disappointing
I wanted to love the experience, but found it lacking. It was hard to get excited about a baby carrot and vegetable bulb with sprigs of greens. This was followed by minuscule pieces of lamb and lukewarm vegetables. The service is stellar, but the food was disappointing and pricey.
Terrific farm to table food experience.
A great property and venue for large gatherings yet executing with high quality food and service. Worth the trip.
To be clear, I have never eaten at Blue Hill and never will.
My issue is with their online reservation system which is infuriating. I have been trying to book a special dinner celebration with my wife there for the past year. Every month, I'm ready at 9am sharp for them to release new slots, only to have everything get claimed immediately. It feels as if someone has created a bot to grab all the tables, because the few instances I've snagged a time it's taken before I can even book it. If you're one of the lucky folks, enjoy. If you're about to try, I'd recommend learning from my aggravation, anger and frustration and skipping this place. They may have amazing food, but there are dozens of places that are as good if not better where you can actually make a reservation.

Tiny portions, gloomy service, terribly pretentious food and ridiculous prices... So not worth it...
