BLACKOUT Dining in the Dark Las Vegas Reviews from The Last Year

The experience of walking in the dark and using all your other senses while eating was great. The ambiance was difficult to sense but the table settings were easy to manage although we did hear a dish break in the background. Bree was amazing definitely there whenever we even thought we needed something. The food was different, I don't think I would have done this experience if I would have know it was plant based ( my fault just didn't read it thoughouly). Also not good for teens if they are picky eaters a waste of money. I only gave it 3 stars and wanted to give it less because they asked if my husband had any allergies: rosemary and ginger " but then still served him rosemary in one of the dishes. Just because we said it's not a life threatening allergy doesn't mean it's not an allergy that's Uacceptable. Disturbing to serve it even after asking, or at least give us an alternate dish if there isn't one a refund should have been offered.

This was such a cool experience! While dining in the dark, your other senses get heightened. At first, I was unsure about whether or not I would like it, but eventually I became more comfortable and really enjoyed it! The food was incredible and there is something totally different in every course (there are 7 courses). The service and employees were amazing! They were so quick to get the food out and they were very helpful in guiding you through the experience! Definitely recommend if you're in Las Vegas!
I was excited to try this spot on my latest trip to Vegas.
It's about $90 per person and you pay after dinner, in the reception area, not with your server. The waiting area is small and they provide lockers for you to lock up your phones and watches. Yes, watches. You'll be carefully lead to a completely blackened area. Your server will lead you and although you'll feel uncomfortable, take your time and you'll be just fine. They do a very good job explaining where things are and how each item should be eaten. The menu is vegetarian and you're not told what you're eating until you leave the darkened room. There were seven courses and the first three were delicious ! I didn't care for the last four, but you can't please everybody. Great service, Anna from Georgia, was the best! So glad I went, 10/10, highly recommend.
This was my third time visiting this establishment.
This was by far the worst experience I've had thus far. I always encourage guests that come visit Vegas to go because it's just one of those niche and unique experiences. Beginning with service, our server was Ana from Georgia. She provided great service for the most part. She was a bit slow, however it was St.Patty's Eve so I understand. Moving on to food, the first three courses were fantastic. Things went down hill very quickly once the "palate cleanser" came out. It was basically a cup full of chopped nuts that were seemingly soaked in vinegar. It was disgusting to say the least. The only saving grace this night was the drinks. They make a great espresso martini and the white sangria was nice. Last but definitely least, the ambiance was poor at best. It's dark obviously, but it was clearly very cramped and hot. So unless you truly just want to go experience something new, I say skip blackout and do an escape room instead. It's just as expensive but your money isn't wasted on half a** food. Also, just go ahead and get a little drunk first if you do decide to try this restaurant, maybe then you'll be able to laugh through the nasty food.
The location: it was easy to get to by Uber.
If you drive yourself there's plenty of parking on both sides of the building. We went on a Monday night so I don't know how it would be on a weekend day. We were staying on the strip so it was a short Uber ride for us. The lobby is big with plenty of seating while you wait for your turn. You get to check the drinks menu and you sign a waiver and give you a locker to put your stuff in (no phones or devices that light up allowed ). The staff: I wish I could remember our servers name - he was new and being shadowed but a manager or supervisor. He was so friendly, calm, and informative. He explained how he would lead us through the dinner. From the walk in to be seated and how the courses are served. Everyone was very friendly. The food: it's a vegan menu. But, even if you are a meat person, you'll still enjoy every course. They ask for food allergies and they make it a point to make your experience safe, that's really important. There are 7 courses, including dessert. Everything is delicious! I did not have one course I didn't enjoy. The drinks: I had a very well made and tasty Dirty Martini and my wife has a very well made Spicy Margarita. They pour well so if you don't like strong drinks, refrain. lol. They also make all their drinks virgin if you want. The experience: I was a little worried at first but after being sat down and "adjusting" I had an amazing time. I recommend this to anyone who's tired for a typical dinner date. No phones makes it even more interesting (I know!!! So crazy!! Jk) but there's a lot to talk about as your tasting the food and figuring out what you are eating. The food trust me, you won't get bored. You will get full through!! lol I'd add pictures, buuuuuut.... It was too dark. Lmao

Very cool concept for a restaurant - it is truly pitch black. Going in was kind of unsettling - shuffling through the darkness to our seats with only the hand of server to guide us. Their night vision goggles do have a red light which helps to keep it a little less scary. The food was tasty - we particularly liked the first couple courses, but all of them were pretty good. It was surprising how easily we got used to eating in the dark; I don't think any of us spilled anything or had any trouble getting the food into our mouths despite the darkness. There was a couple problems that we encountered that may have just been our experience - the service, while good, was slow. We finished each course and had a lot of time in between; it was fun to talk about the previous course and guess the ingredients, but it would have been great if it was just a bit faster. Also, the heightened senses is real - but that meant that other tables sounded very loud around us. I wish the tables were separated a little more. Overall, it was a very fun and unique experience!
Different experience
We thought the food was good. Our server was great. They guide you through each course and it’s definitely different not being able to see what you’re eating. It’s something we would only do once. It was expensive. Over $250 for two with two alcoholic drinks. Ouch. It was fun and we were on vacation so all good.

I made a dinner reservation for Valentine's Day and, at the time I did, I asked detailed questions about food allergies relevant to the menu. Because I was assured that the relevant allergies would not be an issue, I showed up (well prior to) my reservation time for the dinner. I again asked about specific food allergies and was given an entirely different answer than I had been given when I made the reservation. In fact, the lady at the front strongly recommended that allergies WOULD be an issue and that we should "not take the chance" and we should not do the dinner. I was assured that I would receive a full refund ($220.00) of the money that I put down at the time of the reservation. She said, "give it 4-days and the card will be refunded." This was more than 2 weeks ago, and they still have not refunded my card. Additionally, they will not return my phone calls and emails on the problem. DO NOT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE. DO NOT PAY A "DEPOSIT."
A very unique dining experience
I looked forward to trying one of these type of meals where you cannot see your food. This experience was exactly what I hoped for overall. We had a great server who had a sense of humor and played with us as we worked our way through getting used to not seeing, choosing whether to eat with utensils or our hands, etc. The soup was very nice, but I couldn't quite guess the flavors (and we don't want to ruin the surprise). The next courses and dishes all had wonderful surprises between things you definitely recognize and things you are still guessing at. The odd thing was that with the light gone, you become far more focused on sounds, and the noises of the other diners comes through a lot louder. I would say each new group that came in was loud as they had to adjust to the darkness while talking their way through it. I thought it was a great experience, but my wife thought the food was a bit basic for the price. Overall, it was certainly a wonderful opportunity.
This review is based solely on the food.
Our black out dining experience was fun and our waitress Que was amazing! However, the food was subpar. I was hoping to introduce vegan dining to my family (they did not know it was vegan) and they would realize that there is more enjoyable food options than just meat and potatoes. Unfortunately, this did the opposite. The first few courses were enough but by the main entree, it was boring and bland. They were so many opportunities to blow us away especially with our taste buds heightened bc of the blackout experience but it just fell short. Sad to say the dinner was a disappointment, the experience was not.
Not fine dining
No, this is not fine dining. I hate to leave a bad review for anyone's business, but we feel like suckers. $250 for a meal that probably cost $1.50 in cheap freezer bag ingredients. Everything was deep fried mush with fake meat and no interesting texture or flavor. We could have had a really decent meal anywhere on the strip for less. A lot less. And not left completely grossed out.

Everything was amazing!!! From service to the food! Our server Q I believe is her name was incredible! She made our experience phenomenal. The food is super fresh and fulfilling. What a great experience!
The service was great, can't fault it.
The whole dining in the dark was an interesting experience and we never knocked anything over, nor ended up wearing any of the food, strange! As for the actual food it's all VEGAN which we weren't told when booked it! Some of the 7 courses were ok to be fair but some were awful n we just refused to eat it after a lil taste! We had no meat, fish or poultry at all, therefore neither of us can possibly understand why it cost £80 equivalent in English sterling, per head, when all you were eating was vegetables!! Very overpriced for what you get!! We enjoyed the experience but not the food, my partner isn't a big veg lover, I on the other hand enjoy my vegetables but when its veg n rice and served cold or luke warm every meal (and when we told the waitress we couldn't eat it as it's luke warm, they apologised but didn't offer to heat it up), we got sick of it!! When in reception area afterwards, we realised this is obviously why you signed a "waver" when you came in, is probably coz if you knew what you were getting you'd refuse to pay!! We spoke to another couple waiting for a taxi and they agreed "the food was shit"
We've been there twice and it's an excellent experience.
Food is wonderful. Can't really comment on presentation. Waiting area is a bit chaotic not particularly charming for a $120+ pp experience. Server was excellent. Missed her name but had a Georgia accent :) . Truly unique LV experience. We made a game out of seeing who could correctly name the ingredients (you get to learn what you ate when it's all over) . Recommended especially if you have a vegan in the group!
Ok I am going to start with the only con.
Small lobby where you can smell the restrooms. Not an appetizing beginning. However, once you get inside to the waiting room the smell is completely gone and you are out fitted with your gear to go into the dining room. Here is where the fun begins. Now it is completely dark. Your eyes will never adjust and you are led to your seat. I was concerned that we would be seated at a table full of strangers, however, it was just myself and my husband at a table. It was such a curious experience, because without being able to see each other, we held hands across the table and had to focus on the others voice, and had to intently listen to conversation without any distraction whatsoever. After 15 years of being married, this was a treat. We tuned into one another's conversation and trusted each other throughout this process The food itself did not disappoint. We enjoyed maybe five out of the seven dishes . If you are trying this place out, you are open to adventure, so let your palate be your guide. From the texture, to the acid,heat... sweet, that the restaurant plays with...you will be taken on tastebud tour. Just go with the flow. I would definitely go again. The price is right for what you get which is an experience that may have been a core memory. Waiters are also pretty amazing and personable!
Unique experience, conversation driver
This was a truly unique experience, at least for us! We left our phones and watches (anything that glows) in a locker and entered a pitch black room. It really opens up your other senses as you smell the food and hear the other diners. The food was varied and delicious, and left us trying to guess what was in it. The conversation was great as our teenage boys had no access to their phone. Highly recommended!
Try it, you will like it!
This dinner was like no other. First, it was pitch black and you had no idea what food would be served! It turns out that you have heightened senses when it is so dark. Having a mystery dinner was fun. All the food was tasty! It was a fun dining experience.
Delicious and Delightful
The food was absolutely amazing. I was so excited that it was plant based so i didn't have to ask for substitutions, and my friend who is not plant based said it was the best food she had in Vegas. It was an amazing experience. There's lockers you put your belongings in, partially to keep any light emitting sources out of the room. Then the waiter with night vision goggles slowly leads you to your table and explains what's on the table and where cutlery drinks are located by feel. You're seated next to a wall so your drinks can be put there carefully and not worry about being knocked off the table. The seven courses are brought out one by one and explained how to eat. You get to see a menu of what you ate afterwards to see what you could identify purely by taste. The cocktails were extra, but worth it (we got the blackberry mystery one with gin). Overall, one of my favorite things we did in Vegas. We were absolutely stuffed afterwards. The first three courses were my favorites but all of them were tasty!

Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Newbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!
