Whenever I travel I try to find hidden gems, something that I can talk about with my foodie friends when I get home. I came to Black+Blue as part of a catered event while in town for a meeting. Given how large the crowd was I can't say this is a hidden spot, but I definitely thought it was a gem. We had the private meal out on a patio. The staff was attentive and the food and drink selections were outstanding. Inside the restaurant just had a nice energy and hum to it. The there is a great cocktail and wine list. This is definitely a spot for steak lovers. They have a nice aging wrack on the side that is always a nice touch. There is also a sizable sushi and raw menu to round out the steak. The bar was well laid out and I generally liked the style of the interior. There is a second floor for additional seating. Overall this was a very nice restaurant with an upscale feel. It would be a great choice for a special celebration, but prices are on the high end for just a regular night out.
Be prepared to be judged on arrival
We went here at the end of a 2 week vacation to canada where we had eaten in some fantastic restaurants and been warmy welcomed by the friendly Canadian people. Black and Blue clearly judges people as they enter and seats them accordingly. We were walked through the beautiful restaurant past empty tables to a tented area outside with a hot air blower creating a kind of hot wind tunnel effect, a kind of Black and Blue Outlet experience, but with the same prices In terms of the food, the steak was ok, we had much better in Moishes in Montreal last week. The asparagus was undercooked, but the mushrooms were the best i have ever head so overall a mixed bag. As i say go here if you are happy to be judged on arrival and seated accordingly. If i wanted to be judged i would gone to NY or LA. Toronto can and does do much better than B&B. Disappointing overall.

Angelo was excellent. We celebrated my birthday there and have been there many times but he made this experience by far the best!!
Excellent Restaurant
Myself, my Husband and son and daughter in law were there for dinner last night . To say we were impressed would be an understatement. The atmosphere, the service and especially the food we amazing. It was my sons Birthday and they really went above and beyond to make it special. Thank you Vig and Black and Blue for a very good time !! The Whalens from PEI and Nova Scotia !!!Vig, I really hope you get to grow potatoes someday !

I went to Black+Blue for their 'Buy Up Before The Time's Up' special. It came with 2 appetizers, several sides, 2 cuts of steak per person, and a very nice chocolate cake for desert. The menu is pictured. This is a relatively new restaurant to the downtown core, with a very modern interior and beautiful bar. I really enjoyed the quality of service and the food itself. Although the steak was very good, I found the appetizers and the sides to be the highlight of the meal. This special came with such a large amount of food, I had to pack some in a takeout box! I will definitely be back!
Simply great
We’d passed by this restaurant several times before and it was always bustling with guests. The lively atmosphere and inviting ambience caught our attention, so we finally decided to make a reservation. We’re glad we did. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. Our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. I went with my wife, and we were both impressed by the quality of the food. She ordered a Caesar salad followed by scallops for her entrée, while I had the French onion soup and a filet mignon. Everything was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this spot—it lived up to the hype.
Fantastic dinner with a larger group.
Sat upstairs with a great view and lovely ambiance. Our server James was fantastic and dealt well with our large, and sometimes difficult, group. Great wine and cocktail list, everyone was happy with their choices. Particularly the old fashioned. My recommendations on food: -sushi is amazing, super fresh and so good -oysters were so great and the sauces really compliment them -tenderloin was amazing, get the sauce trio with it -asparagus was great, love the sauce -lobster mashed potatoes are a must, best side -butter cake is the best choice for dessert and a specialty of theirs
Such a wonderful experience! Waitstaff was so informative
Such a wonderful experience! Waitstaff was so informative about cuts of steak, teaching me a thing or two I wasn't aware of, taking it with me as future knowledge! Beef Wellington for two was sososo good, they plated our dinner in front of us which was so cool. My husband and I intended on leaving a little hungry (since it seems like that happens at fancy/pricier places like these) but we were STUFFED afterwards! Worth every penny, food and service. Thank you B+B:)
Great location and service, food just ok
They were very attentive and kind, the oysters were good but the calamari were not. I also loved the sushi tolles but did not care for the nacho tower as it was cold and just not well thought out. Sliders were fine.
Black and Blue is amazing
Wow - this is a first class steak house. Amazing service and wonderful attention to detail in the explanation of food and wine choice.
Came for summerlicious.
Our reservation was at 9:30 and we waited a few minutes before being seated. The hostess that walked us to our table walked really fast, and as we followed her another server almost backed up into me twice with dirty dishes. Sat upstairs and got a beautiful view of the whole restaurant. Our server, Kyle M, was super friendly and checked up on us at a good interval. He offered to take pictures for us too. He gave great recommendations too. Definitely was the highlight of the service. The Wagyu tataki appetizer was filling and cooked perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by the string beans that it comes with and loved the sauce. The tenderloin was cooked at fine, but looked to be a smaller portion. Makes sense on a Summerlicious portion. The mashed potatoes were my favourite part of the dish. The Bouillabaisse was yummy! Had clams, mussels, shrimp, tomatoes, salmon, and white fish. The soup was seasoned deliciously. I only wished there was some carb to go with it on the side. Chose the butter cake over the strawberry shortcake because we were told the shortcake is more dense in comparison due to it being gluten free. The butter cake was delicious indeed. It was the perfect temperature, soft centre, and not too sweet. It feels sophisticated inside but most patrons were dressed rather casual. Ambiance was great for couples or large groups. Great spots for photos too. Entrance is through the corporate building, not the street.
The food, the service, the environment are all absolutely amazing!! Steaks are cooked just the way I asked. Special thanks to Suzy, whose doing an incredible job checking out table.
The steak is amazing. Risotto is such a surprise for us. Love the zero proof drink. Service is great, Thank you very much Suzy!
Came here twice, once for brunch and once for summerlicious.
Did Summerlicious for visit 2--apps were the highlight, esp the wagyu tataki buttery, melt-in-your-mouth. Wish the rainbow roll had perhaps two more cuts since 4 seemed a bit small. Tenderloin was underwhelming (bit tough) but the mashed potatoes were a win. Dessert was fine but nothing special. Visit 1 was brunch and it blew me away--came in with low expectations but ended up loving it. Vibes were def luxe and service was solid. Complimentary donuts were cute and tasty, and the banoffee pancakes? So good but HUGE, I only made it through a quarter--def shareable. Overall, better than expected for a spot that gets mixed reviews.
they have a elegant atmosphere and upscale vibes .
beef tenderloin was very delicious and their strawberry shortcake is very yummy.Service was great, will recommend to anyone who enjoys cocktails and good food.

Fun steakhouse! We went a few weeks ago to celebrate a birthday and Kal was our server. Kal was the best! He was friendly, very attentive and had a special dessert brought out to celebrate my mom's special day. We had the fresh oysters, halibut, striploin, Brussel sprouts and potatoes. Thank you for a great night! We will definitely be back.

I've been visiting since the first opened, and it's one of my favourite places in the city, for the incredible food and hospitality! This is an updated review from my last, but even during Summerlicious when it was completely packed, the staff were so attentive and hospitable! Thank you to the entire team and to the chef!

$ + : solid value for the price, especially with the great service and nice patio vibes. We sat outside, so I didn't see the interior, but the patio was cozy and cute with lots of fans to keep things cool even in the summer heat. Food-wise, a few highlights: * Beef carpaccio: good combo of flavour and texture. * Striploin: juicy, perfectly medium rare, and that chimichurri hit just right. * Strawberry shortcake: a refreshing finish, especially if you're not big on sweet desserts. The rest of the menu was fresh and well-plated, maybe not the most memorable, but still enjoyable. Definitely a fun Summerlicious pick.
Snippy service
The decor is lovely. The food is delicious. The service was sub-par. The waiter was snippy and I expect much better in any restaurant, not to mention that this place aims to be one of the best. Waitstaff at Jacob's, the Chase and far less expensive places are pleasant and happy to serve. Not so our waiter on our recent visit. The best restaurant experience includes all elements and this one was lacking in a way that makes me question whether I will return at all.

Today we made a journey for brunch and dinner at Black and Blue Toronto. This is our first time brunch in this restaurant. We ordered a crab cake benny and lobster omelette. Crab cake benny is really really good to a point that we will for sure come back to have another time. This leaves a big contrast to the lobster omelette. There is so little lobster on top of the omelette with the mix of bell peppers. It also lacks flavors and definitely not worth $34. There is a promotion going on with free in house donuts in brunch time. Fast forward few hours later, we came back for dinner. Ordered a Prime Rib Sunday special and cod. For $69, it comes with Cesear salad, 14oz prime rib with 2 sides, and finish up with better cake. It is totally worth the price and enough for 2 people! We ordered the miso cod which is kind of Japanese style with soup base. Another wonderful dishes but we end up pack it to go. Great food, great service, good deal!! The signature buteer cake for dessert is good as always, but I am surprised by the brunt cheesecake. It is some smooth and creamy, and even better than the alot of dessert store who specialize in brunt cheesecake. Highly recommended Black and Blue!
New favorite
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff made this our go to spot for an entire trip.Every meal was an adventure. Love the happy hour menu options for food and drink.
Excellent Dinner, beautiful atmosphere, great staff-the whole package!
We were dining pre-show so very early reservation. Almost lunch/dinner that's how early we arrived (4:30)and our concern was that we would be in an empty restaurant but such is wanting a nice meal before a 7:30 curtain. While not filled the room still felt warm and welcoming. There were other tables on the go and by the time we got to our mains the room was hopping! All of the staff are friendly and accommodating. They will send you a text to confirm your reservation and request business casual/elegant attire is their dress code. It is very lenient. We saw people in everything from athletic wear/shorts to dressed for an evening out. It's all fine but I don't see the point of noting that if they don't enforce it. I am guilty myself of wanting a great meal even if I wander in underdressed. That said the atmosphere is elegant. We could see the bar from our table and it looks amazing. We started with oysters and they were delicious. So fresh and clean with a delicious mignonette. We then had an array of appetizers - the steak tartare prepared tableside is to die for, so delicious. The ceasar salad was also amazing. The carpaccio was great but if you want to go this direction go with the tartare. All but one of us had some cut of beef or another. All good. Cooked as ordered- so perfect! I shared the chateaubriand and it was everything you could want in chateaubriand! We ordered an array of sides (although mine came with veg and potato)the lobster mash is INSANE - buttery, lemony and so much lobster-the almost 1/4 tail piece on top was cooked perfectly. I point this out because most of the time this type of side has rubbery overcooked lobster. Not here. The wagyu fried rice was amazing as were the asparagus and brussel sprouts. The wine list includes our favourite but not commonly available in Ontario wines so that was a bonus. We have dined at the Vancouver location a few times with mixed experiences. The Toronto Location, if the quality stays the same, blows Vancouver out of the water. Such a different experience! I am not an easy 5 star. I have to note also I didn't look at prices, it wasn't a budget dinner, so this review is totally based on the experience and the food. We will be back that's for sure!
Average at best
Had dinner with the family. The steaks arrived warm as if they have been sitting for a while. The quality of meat was average. We expected a lot more for the price points. Very average, there are better options for steaks in Toronto
TLDR: ignore the bad reviews.
I seriously don't understand why the bad reviews? Karen much? Probably bunch of entitled rich snobbish Karens. Anyways, interior looks nice and classy. Dress code is business casual, but not super strict. Just respect the venue and don't come in with flip flops. We ordered beef Wellington, ribeye, and risotto. For appetizers, we got beef carpaccio, crab cake, and brioche. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the ribeye and beef Wellington. Service was top notch. Our server Vig was fun and seemed passionate about this job. He took care of us from the beginning till the end and kept refilling our drinks without needing us to ask. Hands down one of the best steakhouse I have ever been to. Top notch service and high quality meat! Will definitely be back and hopefully we get Vig as our server again!
Six of us went to Black + Blue for a birthday celebration
Six of us went to Black + Blue for a birthday celebration for my husband and father-in-law. Although the staff was attentive, and the side dishes were expensive but tasty, we paid over eight hundred dollars for wagyu beef that was essentially fat and gristle. There were only a couple of decent bites of steak in the entire meal, and we felt totally taken advantage of. At this price point, a steak restaurant should acquire excellent beef and know how to cook it. We will never return.
A Huge Disappointment

The most amazing experience!! Went here for a birthday
The most amazing experience!! Went here for a birthday dinner and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Our guest service professional/bartender Ucal made the night very pleasant. He was engaging, attentive, very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks available. He had recommendations and knew how to explain his recommendations. The food was very tasty and came out fresh each time. The presentation was lovely.
Another solid experience
Another solid experience at the bar. I felt like a recognized regular and treated well. Introduced a work colleague to this restaurant and he enjoyed it! I appreciate that they had my details from previous visits. PS. bring back the cocktail with wasabi.
Disappointing.
The quality of food is very very low, honestly terrible. The Steak is dry and tough, no where near as tender as the cuts should be given the price. I've had better steak for half the price down the street. It's also served with no garnishing. The salad was drowned in cheap dressing, similar to what you'd get at a local bar. My friend tried the Otoro sushi nigiri and sashimi, said both were very oily and poor quality. I've been to almost every Steakhouse in the city so I was very excited to try Black&Blue after it opened up but unfortunately it was a huge let down. The interior ambiance is nice but the service is subpar. Waitress wasn't rude but didn't even bother to check on us after serving the food to see how we liked it. I would not recommend this place. The prices are in line with other high-end restaurants in the city but this one is just not worth it .
Low Quality Food, Worst steak I’ve had in Toronto.

very average food for big money.
service is meh--not amazing, front desk very aloof. the bonus of the place is that it is beautiful.
This place is amazing! Tried it during the lunch.
..in a rush so cannot try the full set. However, the service and food here are amazing. The food is very tasty and creative with salmon crispy skin. The interior design is modern..vibe is great as well! Highly recommended! Will revisit soon
Expensive but worth it!
What a treat, first class location, style, ambience and of course food. We started at the cocktail bar then moved on to our table, the service was excellent, friendly and funny (but bang on). The steaks are truly great but the Basque cheese cake was to die for. Wow!
Great service
Great food and amazing service!! Kal was providing us great service and amazing atmosphere. Definitely be back at to this location.
Awsome!
Awsome Food, Very well trained and friendly staff. Wonderful atmosphere, definitely a great place!!!! Looking forward to go back in future
Award of Excellence, awesome job Tyler!!
The happy hour menu offered an opportunity for my wife and I to sample several menu items. The drinks on happy hour are good but the regular menu had drinks that were so tempting that we ordered the house specialty cocktails even though happy hour was still going on. Tyler, our waiter, took great care with us to make us feel comfortable with the restaurant because this was our first visit to Black and Blue. I was looking forward to the ribeye steak, my wife eats very little meat and certainly not steak. But we were both very happy with the choices on the menu to accommodate each of our culinary preferences. All the staff that we encountered were welcoming and friendly. No request was ignored, nor at any time was there any hesitation to grant our request even when my wife wanted to alter the charcuterie plate on the happy hour menu to include cheese. Tyler anticipated our needs and made our experience one of the best we've had in Toronto! I awarded Tyler The TripAdvisor Award of Excellence pin that I have been carrying for quite some time.
This is a nope for me.
Out of so many impressive restaurants in Toronto, this one is not it. Granted, the environment and decor is beautiful but for this price I was expecting better quality food and better service. Ambiance is great though so if you're here just for the ambiance then it will do. If you're bringing someone for a work dinner or lunch, I think this is a good place. If you're here for the food, there are many much better places in Toronto. I ordered the chicken entree and it was pretty tough and dry. The flavour comes purely from the sauce - the chicken itself has no taste. Another of our party ordered a steak and it was mid - there's really no other way to describe it. The service actually started out good, my water was always full and they would come around to scrape the food crumbs off the table after every course. However when it came time to pay and we wanted split checks the server gave us an attitude for even daring to request such a thing. First of all, our bill is not even that complicated to split and second of all I've never been to a Toronto restaurant that doesn't offer split checks. I know in other cities split checks may not be common, but in Toronto most restaurants will even ask you if you wanted to split the bill or pay in one bill so this is honestly not an astronomical ask. Anyway, we did tell them that if it's too hard it's fine we can pay in one bill and split it ourselves after but we would prefer just being able to pay for our own meals at the table. In the end they were able to split our bills but it also did take a very long time. Maybe their POS system is not versatile, is outdated, and is not able to split bills easily? This experience left us with a bad taste in our mouth bc you would assume a restaurant supposedly operating at this higher level, charging these higher prices, would be able to do this simple (and common) ask easily and without the attitude. I don't think this is asking too much at a restaurant where there is a $450 seafood tower on the menu and a regular (dry) roast chicken entree is already $39. Overall, not impressed and not a place for foodies.

We came here for dinner for a long weekend, got a reservation on a whim and it was the best meal I've had in my entire life. The table side caesar salad was amazing and the filet was perfectly cooked.
Great steak, service and drinks! Winterlicious menu.
Steak was perfect. I prefer black and blue to STK.

Came here for winterlicious but I did not know it's until 7pm only and I booked for 8pm. So we ordered from the regular menu which I expected to get a bigger portion than the fix menu of winterlicious. We ordered appetizer onion soup which tastes so good and beef tartare. The main dish was disappointing, the chicken was dry and no taste. My friend told me that he lost his taste, I tried his chicken and it really has no taste and dry. Need to marinate with the sauce on the plate longer to get the taste. My tenderloin steak is good but small portion. The headwine tastes good. Thanks for the lady staff that recommend the wine. The staff are friendly. Good customer service. Nice decoration and it was busy for a weekday late night dinner.
This is the best!
We had a great meal, and it was a great environment
An incredible experience overall!
I rarely give a 5/5 rating but Black + Blue is definitely deserving! The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the food is incredible, and the staff are exceptional - Thank you to Abhishek, Pamela and Robelo for your hospitality! This is definitely on my list of must visit places in Toronto and I’ll be back soon! Menu highlights: 🥩 What a selection of steak and prime cuts! 🐟 Scallops - Some of the best I’ve ever had! 🦞 Lobster bisque - I’ve never had one like this before! So luxurious! 🥗 Waldorf salad and their signature Brussel sprouts - Eat your greens! 🍸 - The welcome cocktail was a nice touch, and they make a mean Paloma 🍰 - The Marble Forest dessert is something to behold! Demolished before I could take a photo!
