Chicago style locale
Great food very nice mood lit lounge style atmosphere. It’s very ‘traditional Chicago vibe’ by this I mean a small upscale, eclectic vibe locale with a selective menu and local small batch brews. The outdoor section is supposed to be even better, but hard to get reservations there as of now. From the photos it looks very cute and the top opens up (in the true Chicago style of wanting outdoor space when it’s nice out but closed when it cold). If it smells very herbally or organic it’s probably the live moss wall. We sat not too far from it and that was the first thing we smelt. I liked the smell, but I under it’s not for everyone. That did not deter us from sitting there though, it’s just a heads up.

Get the burger and fries. Fries are amazing! I believe fried in beef fat! So good, I wish I had ordered it! I got the pork belly, which was good, but one of my dining companions got the burger and fries and I wish I had too.

Interesting collision of Asian fusion and microbrewery in a neat location in Logan Square neighborhood.
Terrific, friendly service and really tasty food along with an impressive and imaginative beer & cocktail menu.
Started with Szechuan Peanuts (hot but not dangerous) and then the spicy fried chicken sandwich - again, spicy enough to be flavorful but not so much that it overpowered the blend of tastes.
We had to pass on dessert - the menu (and the actual items being delivered to other tables) looked delicious but we had made after-dinner plans ... will make sure to save time and room the next visit.
Sneaky hidden fees for mediocrity
This is a new-ish place trying to catch the wave of breweries turned expensive eating. Here’s the worst part: they have hidden fees and don’t include tax in the price. When breweries in Chicago, the city of 100 breweries, does this it’s nothing more than a money grab. Let me explain what I just experienced. I ordered a beer listed at $6 called the Unspoken Rule. The bill comes back at $6.75. What was not listed on the beer menu OR explained to me was a 2% employee insurance tax to every purchase! WTF! Why am I not told about this BEFORE I pay?! Why am i paying for their insurance? I want everyone to have healthcare but bring up this charge FIRST. The customer should not directly be paying for employee insurance.
Also, while not including tax on the drink price isn’t unheard of it’s not common. In Chicago that’s 10.25%. Add the 2% insurance fee, tax, and tip and your bill is almost 33% higher than the list price! Adding to that the beer was basic. Why pay premium cost for nothing special?
I didn’t eat so I can’t speak to that. I’m a local and will NOT come back. If you’re reading this go next door or down the street if you don’t want to get ripped off. There’s a Revolution Brewery Tap Room about 5 min drive away (they don’t serve food but you can’t bring your own or have something delivered).
Summary: want a $10 beer with tea in it you can get anywhere? Go here. You want a better experience for your money, go somewhere else.
Some Good, Some Bad
My friend and I had dinner here the other night. Nice atmosphere, dimly lit, which I prefer over bright lights. We ordered the pot stickers to start, which were not very good. They had an odd taste, almost like dishwater. The Brussels Sprout salad was very good, and the beet salad was pretty good. The wine list is small (as I expected), which wasn't a problem, but the Chenin Blanc was absolutely horrible. Couldn't drink it. The rosé draft was okay. Our server was not attentive at all. After my first taste of the wine, it took at least 15 minutes for her to come back, and she never asked how it was. I mentioned that I couldn't drink that one and would like to try the rosé. Took about 10 minutes to get the new order (didn't offer to take it off the bill, either). Two good dishes, one bad dish, one horrible glass of wine, and poor service.

The beer was really good and creative. They took familiar styles and added a little Asian taste to them. They pair really well with the Asian food they serve. The vibe is definitely relaxed but with a little more style than a typical brew pub. It's definitely worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyGreat find!
I recently moved to Logan and was recommended this place by a friend. Overall I have to say we really enjoyed our meal. The only complaints I had were that the food was a bit salty, and they were really slow with filling up our water. The prices are pretty fair. The portions were pretty big! To start we ordered the Szechuan peanuts, Vietnamese crepe, and the kimchi mandu. For dinner I got the Yibin style noodles and my boyfriend got the pork belly adobo. I don’t eat meat, and I still felt like there were plenty of options. We also ordered the frozen drinks they were really tasty! I will for sure be heading back to try out more!

Upstairs is where it is at!! The food, the atmosphere and the neighborhood make this spot. Everything we tried was yummy! So fun! We will be back! Fried chicken, steamed fish and noodles were our favorites.
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibe and setting but the food was way too salty.
My wife and I visited with two other couples and we enjoyed the drinks, the atmosphere and thought the upstairs setting was great (even though we didn't sit there). The service was pretty good as well. The staff even gave us a free dessert because of the problems we had with the food. 5 out of the 6 dishes ordered were way too salty. I finish all my food and can handle a lot of salt but this was over the top. One person sent there dish back. I didn't finish mine....and almost never leave food on my plate. I was expecting some saltiness as it is asian food but I never tasted anything like this while visiting my brother in Vietnam. So we were disappointed in the food but everything else was great. My wife's curry dish was good and no crazy salt level. I would return but would be very careful with what I ordered.
Be the first to ReplyCool brewery and restaurant
I could care less about beer, nevertheless this place has an appetizing asian fusion menu. The bao bun burger was the best item we tasted. The curry was great too. This place will be even better for brunch with an open to the sky area upstairs. The place is huge with well decorated space spanning through two levels.

This is 3.5 Stars review of a really interesting place, and if you can book upstairs, with a very neat cool vibe!
LOVED the Oyster Omelette which is a very popular Taiwanese street food*
Wanted to love the Yibin Belt Noodle but it was Way Too Salty (inedible) & Oily. Tried to add lime juice for some brightness & acidity but no way, couldn't eat it. Sad. They tried to tell us that's how it's supposed to be, but we Know the cuisine how authentic should be, and this was wrong.
Daughter especially liked the Spicy Fr Chicken Sando which was very crispy.
Seafood LoMein w/Miso Butter was very unexpected and tasted more like a MacNCheese dish. Very heavy, rich, overcooked noodles, no brightness.
Had wanted the Beignets with PB Choco sauce but no room...
The ice cream tasted a bit off - Matcha & Chocolate with PB Choc sauce. Maybe our combo was off. Coudn't finish. Server Margaret was nice.
Strange how they charge 2% for employee insurance fee. It's a small amount and we wanted to help, but still a weird concept to pass that onto customers.
