Bistro Na's Temple City Reviews from The Last Year
First time and I love the interior.
It is really first class. Everything that came out of kitchen was 5 stars. Even a Simple vegetable dish was delicious . Michelin star worthy. Servers are attentive. The Pear Tea with dates had the right sweetness and flavor. Most memorable is the crispy shrimps .The price are on the high side but that's expected for this type of restaurant . Would definitely go back for special occasions.

Kudos for host to seat us as soon as possible (it was Father's Day and they said reservations are always best). I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time and wasn't sure of the process. Took about an hour to seat but I understood and respected their process. Called the prime rib and shrimp as it was recommended by many and had no regrets. Also ordered the emperor and empress jars for ma and ba. Many things ingredients you can't find at many places. Everything was beautifully and uniquely presented. Cleanliness, atmosphere, staff was on par.
Dear Na's Bistro, Thank you for your response, since you
Dear Na's Bistro, Thank you for your response, since you mention would like to keep your ducks in tip top quality, but your restaurant can only produce so few of them every day. In other work meaning your restaurant is not equipped to handle increasing business or you have a staffing and training problem, if you understand your Peking duck is in high demand as you stated. You shall increase staffing or have better equipment and training to due with, not to step back and limit the quantity of product. To ensure all your customer can enjoy the best quality of your restaurant can provide.
I'm a little underwhelmed by this experience.
The Michelins led me to believe the food would be standout, but while good, I could not say anything was exceptional or anything I would crave. The restaurant itself is a bit loud with conversation and flattering of dishes, which gives it more an authentic Chinese restaurant feel, rather than an upscale one. The decor has some pretty elements, and they try with tableware details like fancy water glasses, and ceramic chopstick holders, and plated, small portion family style dishes. They claim small portions are appropriate for 2-3 people. Some prices seem reasonable, but the sizes appear larger in the fancy book like menu than what actually appears. The waitress tries to confirm the order but it is hard to hear. She brings out the smoked duck breast which we send back. We ordered the smoked korobuta pork ribs. Not a big deal. When trying the pork ribs, the sauce doesn't quite compliment the meat. It is a bit too sweet for my palate. The little fruit that comes with it as a garnish however is divine. Subtly sweet, which a bit of hardiness to its texture. Next comes the shrimp. I like the sauce on this one better. It compliments the shrimp. The shrimp is cooked perfectly, and the shell remains. Not bad, but I'm not a fan of eating she'll. Next the Beijing Zhajiang noodles and Pan fried beef buns come out at the same time. The server warns us the juice in the buns is very hot. The server asks if we want our noodles mixed. I agree. The distribution of ingredients is not even. Not everyone can try the red pickled bulbs. The quality of the meat is higher, more flavorful, and more plentiful than what typically comes with zhajiang mien. Overall, the dish is priced well, unique, and executed well. The pan-fried buns are oddly soft and doughy. The skin hardly has any crispiness to it. The juice and meat filling is good, but is it exemplary? Probably not. At over $5 a bun, I prayed my son didn't drop his soup spoon sized bun. Din tai fung and shao may still has better soup buns. Finally, on to the dessert-- the Lucky Koi milk pudding. At $8 this dish was presented well, pretty, and good. It is lighter in texture than some milk pudding I have tried. A little cheesiest and milkier. The syrup is subtle and compliments the flavors well l. This was a nice finish to the meal. Overall, I was oddly satisfied at the end of the meal even though the portions weren't what I was used to. It was a pleasant experience with no wait. The prices were far more reasonable than I expected. But none of the items screamed Michelin star. If no one told me, I would just think it was an experimental restaurant.

We have been here for a few times now, food is amazing and staffs are great, I enjoyed the setting and having a good time with friends and family. I really like Na's special Tofu and emperor's jar (seafood soup). The meat dishes are tasty but expensive. And they make food really fast and fresh, dont know how they do this. Make sure to reserve before heading there .
It feels so good to be back dining in SGV, this time at one
It feels so good to be back dining in SGV, this time at one of its very own Michelin Guide recommended restaurants. Quick notes: - Wednesday at 1:00pm, no wait for a party of 4 + baby but the restaurant was decently filled up. - Parking in the plaza is always crazy, but underground had plenty of spots available. We ordered two separate combos and two items a la carte. Initially, we were worried it wouldn't be enough for 4 adults but we actually ended up taking leftovers home. Combo A was $56 for two people, consisting of Crispy Shrimp (4pcs), Na's Braised Kurobuta Pork Belly (bowl), Stir Fried Water Spinach (plate). Our favorite here was the crispy shrimp, a sweet & savory ...crispy shrimp. We ate it with shell on and all. The only downside is that it was only 4 pieces. Boo. Combo C was $68 for two people, consisting of diced black pepper honey angus beef (4pcs), chili kurobuta pork w/ cauliflower (plate), and braised chinese yam (bowl). Our favorite here was the black pepper honey angus beef, which was basically bo luc lac, on steroids. The honey was perfectly caramelized on the edges and the black pepper came in second to set up a one two punch combo. We ordered Chef Su's Pork Feet Jelly and Dry Braised Black Cod Fish with Chili Sauce a la carte. The former was good but forgettable but the latter was delicious and definitely memorable. The pork feet jelly was a fun experience but there was no serotonin dump when I took my first bite, which told me all I needed to know. The same could NOT be said for the fish, as there was an immediate flavor explosion and subsequent serotonin/endorphin dump was very satisfying. So all this raving about the food, why only 4 stars? Good question! The service was ...weird. When they did help us, they really helped us. But at the same time we had to flag down servers multiple times to get refills or to take dishes away. Food runners also dropped off food with barely a mention of what the dish was. But they were nice when they did eventually come around to help... so... yea, weird. Yelp 2024 Adventures - 6 of ??

I had a great time at Bistro Na's! The menu is classic Chinese cuisine but better. The shrimp was so crispy and seasoned to perfection. The braised pork (my favorite) had a nice glaze and wasn't too salty. And the service was pretty good too. The ambiance and decor was fitting and tasteful. The lighting was nice, bright enough to see the space but not glaring like a CVS.
My family and I really enjoy coming to Bistro Na.
The interior feels very historic and clean, adding to the charm of this Chinese restaurant. We love how fresh the veggies are, and the cold chicken, which is deboned for us, is always a highlight. The large fried rice is delightful and serves as a perfect portion for our family of five. The combination of beef and quail eggs is tender and flavorful, making for a great dish. Bistro Na offers a wonderful dining experience with fresh ingredients and generous portions, making it a favorite spot for my family.

Walking in here, I felt I was transported to another city, somewhere in China. The decor is a classic, traditional Chineses restaurant with wooden decorations, classic red walls, and traditional Chinese instruments decorated the walls. The servers are attentive, kind and cordial. We were served by June and she was fantastic. Loved her humor, professionalism and service. The menus have photos and it's really great to visualize the kind of dish you will be served rather than be short of expectations of what the dish is. Really great for those who are not familiar with traditional Chinese dishes. Now on to the food! We started off with the Empress and Emperor's Jar (soup). I really enjoyed the Empress's jar. It was like a stew. The soup base is the delicious golden soup with lots of delicious ingredients. The Emperor's Jar was a smaller portion, delicious, but was kinda pricey for the portion given. Next we had the pea sprouts with enoki mushrooms. Surprisingly, the vegetables were fresh and stir fried well. It wasn't over or undercooked. Also, we were able to taste the umami flavor and was very tasty. Lastly, we finished with the beef ribs. This was delicious. It was juicy, soft, and flavorful. Dipping it in the pepper sauce made it so much more delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. I would probably skip on the soup since it was pricey for the portions. I can't wait to come back to try other dishes.
Overprice and small portions.
I tried to like the place but it is really overrated. Food was mediocre at best. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Bistro Na's truly lives up to its reputation.
The ambience is superb, the food is delicious, and the service is efficient, making it a standout dining experience. Every dish we tried was impressive, but two that stood out were braised pork belly, fried tofu, and fried shrimp. I must admit, the braised pork belly here is the best I've ever tasted. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. Their tea selection was also noteworthy, complementing the dishes beautifully and enhancing the overall dining experience.
FYI if you're ordering the Peking duck you need to preorder.
I was able to do it in one day but reading online it's recommended to do it at least 2 days prior. Came here to try the Peking duck. Was very impressed with the service. They bring the duck out to you to inspect first. You can even order caviar with the Peking duck. I didn't but bougie people would be inclined to do so. I was also very impressed with the cold spicy tofu salad which honestly was the highlight of the meal along with their crispy shrimp. Would recommend Peking duck, definitely the best quality I've had in California though it was quite small. Get the tofu salad too!

Excellent service, different kinds of dishes all done with aesthetics in mind. There are a bunch of private rooms in the back for parties 10-20 ppl. Came here on a work night and it's buzzin. Really hard to find parking!!! Sure there's parking downstairs in the garage, that's also a headache to circle around. Food was delicious, fresh and a variety to pick from. Highly recommend their veggie and fried shrimp. Nothing is too spicy or too salty. Ended with a tray of desserts, well done! Not sure if they're still Michelin but it's time they come back around for another evaluation.

First time at Bistro Na's did not disappoint! We also got the dragon well tea with our dishes. Also, our waiter Tim gave excellent service. We will be back again!

This place was good a couple years ago but we went back recently and thought the items were average and a bit expensive for the price. The 2 best items I highly recommend to get: crispy shrimp and the lucky koi milk pudding dessert. Those were so good! Highly recommend making a reservation or else you'll probably end up waiting. Also, they do have lunch specials but it's weekdays and is not available around the entire time of lunar new year.

I came here with friends on a weekday for lunch and the food, service, and ambiance were great! The restaurant is located in a plaza but there was plenty of parking underground as well. We ordered a few of their most popular dishes and they were all delicious. The black pepper honey angus beef was my favorite dish. It was so tender and flavorful! I don't normally like shrimp, but their crispy shrimp was very meaty and good! I don't think you can go wrong with anything that you order from here. We tried their mini assorted dessert and loved trying the different desserts! My favorite would probably be the red bean roll and the sesame roll with red bean filling. The lucky koi milk pudding was also really light and creamy! It wasn't too loud during the weekday, which we appreciated. Also, our server Tim, was super nice, helpful, and gave us great suggestions on what to order. I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already!
Black pepper honey Angus steak - very tender.
Well balanced. Not too sweet and has a great peppery taste. Na's spicy chicken- very tender. Smooth, mild, sweet with a slight vinegar sauce. Crispy shrimp - meaty. Crispy with a small sweetness to it Na's braised kurobata pork belly - very rich. Very tender. Get that pork belly,

Growing up in the Bay Area, I went to Koi Palace several times and always known as the standard for top tier Chinese Cuisine. Until now.... My life has changed. Bistro Na has redefined what Chinese food means to me, just as how the food critic from the movie Ratatouille had his mind blown. My soul was immediately transported to China. Crispy shrimp 4/5 - perfect balance between sweet and spicy. Excellent crisp on the shell Spicy cold chicken 5/5 - my guilty pleasure and will have me coming back all the time! Nice balance of spicy and sourness. The cut of the chicken was still moist as well Honey black paper beef 4/5 - this had a great sauce and most of the pieces were tender, however there were some pieces that were on the dryer side. Pork belly 3/5 - the pork belly was very soft and tender, however, personal preference for me is that it was a bit too fatty. Some may enjoy it but it wasn't my flavor profile. Service 5/5 - Tim provided excellent service and his recommendations on food were spot on. Highly recommend giving a shout out to Tim as he is the perfect definition of what excellent hospitality is!

Incredible meal.
We got the Peking duck and it was so special. Hand served in perfect little pancake wraps. Our server tim was extremely kind and helpful in ordering a very memorable meal.

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
