Bibik's Kitchen Nyonya Cuisine George Town Reviews from The Last Year
Food was good, atmosphere was bad
We had our 1st nyonya experience 5 years ago, we came back and were a little disappointed. The food was good, but nowhere near as good as it was. Also, the waiters had hardly any interaction with the guests and didn't know anything about the food. No smiley were given. We were certainly disappointed.
Unique cuisine
The best Peranakan food I had. Amazing service. Probably one of the best places to eat while in Penang. The Udang Masak Nenas is delicious and the desserts too.
Somewhat disappointing
Although recommended this restaurant did not live up to expectations. We were rushed from arriving, food was directed, portions small. The kerala salad was amazing and highlight of meal. Otherwise nothing was a special experience.
Thanks, Rani, for the surprise chicken rendang!
Excellent Nyonya cooking and friendly and engaging staff. We had sambal prawns, chicken rendang and fried chicken, mango sold and black sticky rice with coconut milk for dessert. All were delicious. A delightful lunch. Highly recommend for either lunch or dinner.
A lacklustre experience
Competent food, a couple of misses. Portions small, rose apple kerabu was good, Kiam hu kut curry competent and tasty though portion really small. It came with 2 small shrimp. Ok-ish steamed okra with dried prawns (can’t really go wrong with such a simple dish), and pengat was mega-excessively sweet, and the soup not thick and luscious like some other Renditions. Mentioned this as possible feedback to a waiter who blankly stared at me without saying a word. Maybe he doesn’t speak English . Dunno. The service is unfortunately very brusque, particularly from an imperious middle aged frizzy haired woman, who barked orders at me as I entered the door “push, don’t pull”, I felt she was doing me such a favour - I moved towards an empty table in thr main hall, and was told - ‘no, reserved for 3’. No welcome smile at any point. And when asking for a drink while looking at the menu, was chastised “ can you order everything together and not just drinks first”. “Do you have wifi here please?” Was responded to curtly with “no, password only for my boss”. Charming. So yes, service not something that bowled me over. They charge for topping up water each time to your glass - quite incredible! So yes, I would probably give it a miss when in penang for Nonya food. Better options with more service-oriented experiences in abundance available elsewhere. Though they may start charging for a smile..
Delightful meal - this place is not to be missed!
I arrived around 7.30pm without a reservation, but they were able to accommodate me on a shared table. Before I sat down they warned me that the kitchen was very busy and food might take up to an hour to arrive. I was happy to wait (with a beer and my book); the food actually only took 40 mins. I had: Ayam Rendang, Rose Apple Kerabu, & Mix Colour Rice. All three were absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are beautifully decorated with Peranakan artefacts and old family photographs.
Great experience, food, people and ambiance.
I was here tonight with a group in a tour ‘Heritage on a plate’ and enjoyed the food and people very much. Nice environment and tasty dishes. Away from the busy street to have a lovely time and great food! Thanks for having us!
A truly memorable food experience.
All the dishes we ordered were excellent. The taste was truly authentic and the decor provided the right ambience. Best prawn sambal petai I’ve had. Bibek herself was very helpful in accommodating our food needs and requests. A very satisfying nonya food experience!
Decent Nyonya food
It’s better to book on the weekends as it gets pretty full. The dishes seem to be cooked on the spot i.e. fresh. Taste-wise, it’s quite nice and they serve a nice cincaluk pork which is not always available. Their inchi kabin came without the typical sauce- surprising. Tau yu bak and their kerabu salad was tasty. Save space for the bee koh moi dessert (black glutinous rice with coconut milk). Would return.
Unfortunate situation
We managed to make a reservation a week in advance for 8 adults and 1 child for dinner time at 7pm and we came early and saw wow!! the restaurant was already packed too! So, we ordered 7 different Nyonya food dishes, sadly the Chicken Rendang was already sold out! We had to wait 45 minutes for our food to come; First came the 2 vegetable dishes and everyone was hungry and start taking food. Sadly, one of ours found something not ok in one of the vegetable dishes and asked the waiter to report and asked for a new plate with new rice! Sadly, it was not understood by the waiters as we had to ask several times for replacement of a new plate with new rice! The other food came all 10 minutes after the first dishes and we all just enjoying the Nyonya dinner to feed our hungry tummy! until we noticed that one dish was missing, the Assam Prawn! We asked the waiter many times to check and sadly, no clear reply! At the end, it came about 30 minutes later and nearly all of us have finished the dinner! Apparently, after talking to the chef/owner/cashier, our Assam Prawn was sent to the wrong table thus no one from the waiters apologizing for the mistake and even not offering a replacement of the vegetable dish. It is unfortunate situation to the fact that many service-oriented companies must deal now with shortage of good experienced workers and especially it is bad in the restaurant business. It becomes a big dilemma for Restaurants owners when the restaurant is running well and fully booked but the service is not below par! Despite of the unfortunate situation and the hiccups. we had a decent dinner at Bibik’s Kitchen and a very good holiday time in Penang!

That's what AT sponsorships are for - and you are only paying 25% in the first year and then less in year two and three.
I beliebe @EternalAnt36 was sponsored by @PerceptiveWash44 and is now doing $25k/mo.
You can write on the top sellers profiles (type 'Top 10' in the searchbar) and then tap request sponsorship button after you found the guy or gal like to work with!
