Overhyped
Honestly, we were underwhelmed. This place has been hyped up online so we went with high expectations. Firstly, the seating arrangements have been cynically designed to cram as many customers in as possible. We were sat at the bar (we knew this in advance) but the stools were uncomfortable for an extended period and there was no space for waiters to reach over and serve - we had a few near misses with spilled cutlery etc. There were also patrons stood up eating meals outside literally off the windowsill on the street - I found this off putting. The food itself was OK, if perhaps a little bland. One limitation for us was that all the meat used is halal - we do not eat this on ethical grounds so limited us to a vegetarian menu, however these options were very limited which is a shame e.g. no vegetarian kebab option. Honestly, I would not rush to return. There are better options in Soho off the “influencer” trail.
Amazing Restaurant!
Having been to the New York location they had a high bar to reach and they exceeded it! I went yesterday, the service and cuisine was fantastic. I had the Taftoon with the Kask e Bademjoon and Mast o Musir dips, then the Jujeh Kabab Tond with house saffron rice and extra crispy rice on top. I finished with a mint tea, all excellent, give it a try!
Incredible food, buzzy atmousphere
The food here is sooo amazing! It felt truly authentic and the service was stellar. The hummus speaks for itself, and then we had lots of other apps that were bursting with flavour. Nice buzzy atmousphere, we sat at the bar and there’s an open kitchen so you can see the fire and action while you’re eating. Dinner and a show! What more could you want 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Stunning meal! Went in a party of 8 and so we got "the feast". It was a feast, indeed. Came out in 2 big sharing courses. First we had bread and dips and the flavors here were outstanding. It was very hard to stop myself from eating to bursting in this course, just knowing the main was still to come. Every dip was so good, but my favorite might have been the hummus. Unlike any other hummus I've ever tried - much thicker, really highlighting the chickpea with other nutty bits and seeds mixed in. For the main, we each chose one kebab per person, and since we had so many of us, we really had coverage of every single one they had to offer. Instead of serving the one kebab ordered in front of the person, this was served on sharing platters as well, which was perfect! These were huge and we had so much meat that everybody got to try all the kebabs. So juicy, perfectly seasoned and grilled. This course was served with more bread, rice, and bright crunchy salads with enough acid to cut the fatty meat. Plus leftover dips from the first course. Overall a delightful, rowdy, elbow to elbow and heavily laden table meal! Would highlight recommend. Sounds like reservations are hard to come by and recommend booking far in advance!
Fantastic Persian food done very well
We visited for lunch with a booking which is a must - this location is really popular. Having Persian family members, we can honestly say this is excellent Persian food. The flavours are fantastic. Get the Olvieh and koobideh! We want to go back but there isn’t any bookings available while we are visiting g London! Next visit for sure.

My friends absolutely love Berenjak, so of course I had to see why they rave so much about it. Definitely make a reservation, because you will not have much luck if you are trying to walk in. Unfortunately, it seems like all the reservations are for counter seating. It was fine though, since we were able to watch them grill all the kababs in their coal-fired grill! Kept it straightforward and ordered the Feast Menu, which is £55 pp. Comes with two types of bread in Taftoon and Sangak, four starters (Mirza Ghasemi, Mast O Khiar, Hummus, and Black Truffle Olivieh), two kababs (we chose the Koobideh Kebab and Jujeh Kebab), and three sides (Shirazi, Torshi Phel Phel, and House Rice). I've never had Persian cuisine on this level as all the dishes were very unique. Even the hummus tasted like hummus I've never had before. I would say that the Jujeh Kebab took me by surprise because I don't expect white meat chicken to be very good, but this was genuinely great! Service was fine, although nothing to rave about. We were handed our bread and starters pretty quickly, but the kebabs took 25 minutes for us to get. I don't know if that was an intentional decision to space out the starters from the kababs. Since we could see that they were cranking out many kababs, maybe that was an intentional decision. I don't know. Ambience is fine. Hard to feel the ambience when we were sitting at the counter rather than an actual table. Overall, I can see why my friends love Berenjak, because everything was absolutely delicious! Worth the visit.
Nothing memorable
I recently visited this restaurant in Soho and was extremely disappointed. At the entrance, a lady with short black hair was shockingly impolite and dismissive. Rather than welcoming guests, she spent her time chatting and laughing with a group of men, even taking bookings for them without any reservation, while completely ignoring waiting customers. She was also openly rude to other guests, creating a very unwelcoming atmosphere. The food itself was just about acceptable, nothing memorable, and the overall service was truly poor. I expected far better from a restaurant in Soho and left feeling very let down.

5 Stars The quality of the food here absolutely blew me away. We visited the Borough location for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The space is quite small but beautifully decorated with ornate Persian art and traditional pieces, creating an authentic atmosphere. We ordered the Koobideh, Sangak bread, Zeytoon, Kashke Bademjan, and for drinks, the Tokhm-E Sharbat and Doogh. The kebabs were incredibly juicy and tender - they melted in mouth. But the true standout was the Kashke Bademjoon--rich, flavorful, and so addictive. I couldn't get enough of it. The rice had The drinks were also impressive. The Tokhm-E Sharbat was so refreshing, I ended up ordering it twice. Service was friendly and attentive. There was a small mix-up with our check being switched with another table, but the staff handled it promptly. This was hands down the best food I had during my visit to London. I'll definitely be back.

Arrogant unfriendly door staff. Disorganised. Bad experience from start to finish. Food average there are much better options in London with authentic Persian flavours. I will not be going back for sure.

Perfection
Staff were so friendly and professional. We didn’t have a reservation but were seated quickly. Our waitress gave us perfect advice regarding quantities and sizes of meals. Probably one of the best places we’ve eaten in London. Exceptional.

I greatly enjoyed my lunch. The restaurant had been recommended by several friends. You absolutely must have a reservation. I ordered off the pre-set lunch menu, which had everything I had planned to try, with the exception of a dessert (which I ordered separately.) The black bean hummus is worth the visit, alone. It looks like chocolate pudding. I sat at the bar - which was fun to watch the artistry of the team preparing the delicacies. The Soho location has a slightly different menu than the Borough Market location - so be mindful of that.

We ate here while spending the weekend in London and wow, it was amazing. The food, flavours, ambience were 10/10. It’s very rich and indulgent so not somewhere I would frequently visit but was a great experience and worth the hype. Pricey but good quality ingredients too. X

It was our last day in London and I was determined to give it a try! I was so happy they were able to seat us without a reservation but be prepared to wait if you come during peak hours. I will say the interior is beautiful! You really get a glimpse of Iran and Persian culture just with the decor and ambiance. Out of the 3 drinks (1 cocktail and 2 mocktails) we got, the Pomegranate Tokhm-e Sharbati was my favorite. It was refreshing, light, and not too sweet. The Watermelon Shumpine Cocktail wasn't memorable and I didn't really get that typical watermelon flavor I like and the Black Lime Sharbat had a deep earthy flavor that I didn't expect in a drink. it surprisingly wasn't as citrusy as I was expecting either. The main highlight was the food! The Set Lunch Menu is a no brainer choice because you get a good amount of food for ~£34. Since we were 2 people, we got to try 2 different options from each section of the lunch menu. The more people you come with, the more you can try too! The Barbari bread was crunchy on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside. It paired well with both the Hummus e Khanegi & Kashk e Bademjoon. Both were good but the Hummus e Khanegi had good texture but not much flavor while the Kashk e Bademjoon was smoky from the coal, creamy from the eggplant, and nutty from the walnuts. The Koobideh Kabab & Jujeh Kabab were outstanding! Some of the best Persian kababs I've ever had. They were deliciously seasoned, perfectly juicy, and unbelievably addicting. I couldn't stop eating it. You can tell it's cooked over an open flame and grilled until golden. The Zaferan Polow & Salad Shirazi paired perfectly with the kababs as well. The Zaferon Polow was fluffy with bits of crispy rice mixed in. The Salad Shirazi was zesty and tangy which nicely balanced the savoriness of the kababs. I was absolutely stuffed for almost the rest of the day after this meal. It's truly a must-try if you're in London (and they have locations in other countries as well)!

Make sure you have a reservation or you willl wait a few hours for seating. Quality excellent but you also pay for it!
Removing the Persian bias.
.. this is perhaps a 10/10. If you're reading this, you're probably in the planning stages of a trip out to London. If you haven't already, try to get a reservation ASAP. We were able to get a same-day reservation for lunch after refreshing the reservation link early one morning, but the odds seem not in your favor. The koobideh, the chicken kabob, the hummus, the breads, I really don't have much to say. Every single thing we ate was genuinely amazing. The hummus, easily best I've ever had. The chicken kabob, the juiciest and most well made we've ever had. Koobideh was lamb and I'm not even a big lamb fan, but it was unbelievably good. Berenjak is a restaurant I didn't want to leave. Didn't want to feel full from, and definitely would return to every chance I get. Oh and one more thing -- for whatever it's worth, this place made me feel so proud of our culture. The ambiance, the decor, the music, the tones, and mood, all in all just perfection from top to bottom.
One of the best meals I've had.
I went solo, so was seated quickly as a walk in around lunchtime on a weekday. Sat at the counter and really enjoyed watching the chefs do their thing. The food was as delicious as it looked. I did the set lunch menu and it was a great deal. The taftoon was fresh and airy but the perfect pair with the mast o khiar. Maybe the best mazeh I've ever had. The jujeh kabab was delicious and house rice was the perfect side. If I'm back in London I'll definitely be going back here. Couldn't recommend more.

if you like to wait three hours despite many open tables in the back just to receive kebab that is drenched in butter, and rice that is swimming in butter, this is the place for you! unlike other Iranian restaurants, the portion is not large. The restaurant is very small but the waiters are pleasant.

Best Persian food anywhere! Persian food elevated! Divine! They deserve every accolade they've earned. Small space with only a few tables, so please make your reservation way in advance and be careful when selecting which location for your reservation, there is the original in Soho and the other in Borough Market. My mom and I were lucky to snag a last minute reso at the bar in their Soho location while we were visiting London. The place is well run - the efficiency with which the food is prepared (we had a front row seat at the bar) was cool to watch. I wanted to order everything because I knew this would be my only visit while in London, but alas I had to settle on the following: PANIR SABZI - Bulgarian white cheese, radish, nuts and fresh herbs JUJEH KABAB Boneless chicken breast GHORMEH SABZI Lamb stew with kidney beans, dried lime and mixed herbs GHAIMEH BADEMJOON Aubergine stew with split yellow peas, dried lime and tomato For drinks, I had a sharbat (fruity herbal drink) and my mom had dough (yoghurt drink). Everything and I mean everything was beyond amazing. I should know I'm Persian and have been eating Persian food all my life. If you twisted my arm and made me choose my favorite dish, it would be the ghaimeh bademjoon stew. Friendly service. Very reasonable prices considering how crazy expensive everything is in London. Don't miss it!
Rude hostess
Over hyped, the food and service were okay, but 2nd hostess (the guy by the resturant’s entrance) who attended to us was extremely rude, he thought we didn’t have a booking!! To be fair the first guy greeted us well, but that rude hostess ruined the whole experience for us. Super disappointed to be treated disrespectfully!
Great service from Nizar
Loved the food, the chicken was so succulent and soft. Wonderful service from Nizar, he is an asset to the company. Very talkative, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed several times. He went over and above what we expected and just was a genuinely nice person.
Ok not great
Food is well overpriced for what it is. There are much better Iranian restaurants for half the price however it seems Berenjak have marketed themselves well. The Koobideh traditionally should be two skewers but only one. The barreh kabab is the price of a 2kg steak at a steak restaurant. The food is ok but it’s definitely not worth the price. Also none of the chefs are Iranian serving perisan dishes which aren’t even really Iranian. The starters were very poor.
Nizar is the best
I recently dined at Berenjak Soho and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. Nizar, our server, was exceptional. He was attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. We were also impressed by his efforts in learning Arabic, which added a personal touch to our evening. Thank you, Nizar, for making our evening special. Highly recommend!
Berenjak Soho review
The food was great and excellent. Service at the table was also greet. But have to say this-The greeter who seated us at 12 (first people when they opened) was definitely unprofessional and racist. We were visiting from US and made reservations on Sevenrooms. He first wanted us to sit next to the kitchen on bar stools and when I said it was hit and requested the other bar stools away, he said he had 2 seats inside which we needed to free up at 1 pm. No one was there. Then after 1/2 hour, 2 middle eastern couple with no reservation was moved with their food to a table next to us. And this same person then tells these couple that they had no rush and can take as long as they want. How awful to do that when we were sitting on next table. Never expected an Asian to do what Britishers did to Indians in the past-be a racist. Anyway, I thought I should say this in my review.
Overhyped. Wouldn’t bother.
I’ll start by saying that the service from the staff is impeccable. They were helpful, friendly and efficient. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the chefs, however we were jostled and elbowed several times as the restaurant is so small. It made for an uncomfy experience. On to the food. We went for the £48 p/person deal and were disappointed. The bread was lovely and most of the dips were nice (the hummus was not like any hummus we had ever had though and we left most of it) We felt the minced lamb was so minced it tasted cheap. For £48, we felt one skewer of meat as the only real protein of the two courses, wasn’t great value. I don’t mind paying a lot of quality is up to it but as I said, it tasted like a cheap supermarket kebab not a former michelin star quality meat. The rice was fine and the salad very, very tarte. Overall, there are thousands of better restaurants with similar Middle Eastern food and I wish we hadn’t listened to the hype and found somewhere else.

Second time in a year, really good food but nothing special for a Michelin star restaurant. Had to book a few weeks before, hasn't changed much except for the new dessert that has soft serve included. They could do better with the kitchen staff wearing gloves and hair nets to be honest

We went with course menus and it was delicious. Service also is great. Highly recommend to book in advance since the place is always busy. Location next to the market makes it very trendy and cool. For sure next trip we visit this restaurant again.
Dirty and rundown restaurant with seats and tables so small you’d think you’re sitting in a playhouse
This place is not living up to its expectations or any expectations for that matter. The restaurant is absolutely falling apart, with an interior older than the average grandma - and not in a good way. I’m surprised they are up and running, as it lioks very rundown and wuite frankly unhygienic. Both inside and outside look like a disaster (the only slightly part is the bit in the very back, with some cosy feel to it. Also, it’s very small spaces to sit and let alone eat - they serve main meals on sude dishes which is the oddest thing I’ve ever witnessed. The kebab (meat skewers) was average unfortunately, but the starters and bread was good. All in all, I barely ate as I just wanted to get out from there even though we paid alot for nothing really. Out of all the Persian restaurants I’ve visited in my life, this was by far one of the worst.

My favorite dinner while traveling in London (2023).
We opted for the tasting menu and chose the chicken and lamb kababs and enjoyed all of the different mezze options immensely. Trying the tasting menu let us explore options we might not have otherwise ordered. A meal I'll wish I could relive
I'm Persian and I have to say not good Taste food!!!!!(soooooo far from original perisan food)
I'm Persian(Iranian) and I live in Paris(France), I got Koobideh Kabab and the taste was completely different from original Koobideh!, Absolutely is not original Koobideh and I didn't like the taste, the taste is completly different and so far from original persian Koobideh(I tried the best Koobideh in north of Iran, in Orumieh, Tabriz, Ardebil, aslo in Tehran), the koobideh was so oily and so fatty, the oil I'm not sure If It was butter, I think they used another kind of oil, the Koobideh was yellow color inside of the meat! I asked the waiter what is It inside? Is It turmeric and he told me no!, and he told me we don't use any spice inside of the meat!, but I didn't understand the yellow color comes from Where!?, I'm sure It wasn't safron spice because the safron taste is different, however the Sangak bread under the Koobideh was beautiful but again the taste was soooo far from original one!, I have to say they have good decoration restaurant, good design for food(It's look like Koobideh and Sangak), but the taste is completly far from any original recipie and I didn't like It! and I was surprise for which reason in Michelin guid they put Persian food(Koobideh is nostalgic and important food in Iran, when the restaurant can't make It as original taste, for me It means It's not persian food ), the foods only look like persian food!, the quality of the meat was normal(not bad and not high quality), my point for design is 4/5, the design food also 4/5, the taste of Koobideh 0/5, so my total point is 2/5! and I don't advice this restaurant to any one for different tate compare of original persian food!
Great experience lovely meal
We ate here last night and it was great. Our daughters bought us a voucher for Christmas which included a special menu which enabled us to try several different starters and a chicken kebab. The hummus and aubergine dip was my favourite and accompanied by two types of bread which were freshly cooked. The chicken kebabs were beautifully cooked and really tender. The service was excellent with really helpful staff. We sat at the high table which was no issue as it meant we could watch the chefs cook. My only gripe is the 12% service charge, we are making up the wages of the staff!

Incredible service, knowledgeable staff. Food was an absolute 10/10 - the best flavours and the hummus is absolute insane and the atmosphere was great too. A must visit!

Absolutely delighted with my dining experience at Berenjak in Soho! The Lebanese cuisine was exquisite, boasting a perfect blend of flavors and authentic dishes. The ambiance was cozy, and the service was top-notch. A must-visit for anyone craving the finest Lebanese culinary delights in the heart of Soho!
Welcoming
Staff were attentive but relaxed which made for a nice atmosphere. Food was good. Maybe the Michelin rating swayed us but it was a good experience not exceptional. Worth a visit but do read the reviews.
Busy, Dark, Fine Kebab
I got a solo table for an hour last Friday. Always interesting how solos are treated. I specifically asked for the counter but got a table instead. It was dark, real dark inside. I had to turn my phone light on to see the menu, eventually I asked the waitress to recommend. (I had imbibed a tad during the wait) The bread was delicious, crunchy and lovely, and the hummus and aubergine and egg dips were divine. I have to say the kebab was good but not other worldly, perfectly cooked and pleasant. Time was up and I was gone, 2 glasses of house red and the above for £50. Not bad.
Best kababs in London
I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the place is very uncomfortable and staff are not very professional. Its not a traditional Persian restaurant but the excel in some of their dishes. The grilled kababs are by far the best in London especially the chicken with bones and the koubideh. The starters are mostly good except the hummus which should not even be on menu, The bread cooked in the restaurants tandoor is not good but the sangak bread is very good. Stews are not good at all and rice is below average. I would suggest some starters, Grills and sangak bread only.
Overhyped
I read good things about this place and struggled to get a booking so turned up just after 13:00 on a weekday to be told they were fully booked all day and they'd take my number and text me if anything came up. An hour later I returned and although still really busy the staff accommodated my friend and I at the counter. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food came quick enough and was the usual stuff you'd expect from a middle eastern establishment and full of flavour but, being charged £15 extra for choosing the lamb option on the set menu meant despite tasting great was never going to meet the expectation of such an inflated price and the texture of the chicken was way off my liking and I suspected marinated then frozen as it was like eating play doh (but with some spices) the digital bill was easy enough to pay but no alternative option was given and incurred an additional (all be it small) processing charge. In summary, food was alright, price was too high and there's plenty of other places to get more bang for your buck.
Worth every penny!
A wonderful experience - one of my most memorable meals in London. The restaurant is dark and quite noisy but I thought that added to the ambience. The service was excellent. I'd thoroughly recommend the restaurant and hope to return in the future.

Absolutely amazing! I showed up at 5:15 on a Monday night and lined up. They opened at 5:30 and they sat folks who had reservations and then I got a seat at the bar which was a great experience seeing all the action. I was immediately packed but organized. I ordered Persian white cocktail which was meh but then the food immediately caught up. I ordered kashk e bademjoon which was great and Olivier salad. I got a taftoon bread which they bake there fresh and you can watch them baking the bread. I ordered the lamb/ barreh for my entree that was also perfect. I ordered too much but also shared with the person sitting next to me at the bar. Keep it up Berenjak. I'll come back.

The hummus!!! I mean all of it's just so so good. The staff are always beyond accommodating with dietary requirements. My husband & I live in New York City but are from England & Egypt and every time we come back to London this is our first stop. It's almost become a bit of a ritual. James the manager is so wonderful and always remembers us. Can't recommend this place enough
I really wanted to like this place.
Pricing was kind of ridiculous for the quality. The kebab was not tender & very elastic, and the service was almost nonexistent. They forgot to bring out a few things that we ordered and ended up having to cancel them. Didn't understand the hype at all, unfortunately disappointed.

It is very impressive and they are working hard. You choose from a dip (many options) with breads, a meat (lamb or chicken) and a side (either rice or salad). There is a lot of food, do this is a great deal. We loved everything we got! Service is great and food comes out quick.

The fresh bread was absolutely incredible, as were the various sides. If I were to go back, I would try and get a variety of sides instead of mains, because everything seemed so unique and wonderful. The juicy chicken, the eggplant spread, the crispy rice, 10/10
Came here for a quick lunch before the play.
Without reservation, only an outside seating was available so we took it. They have a small interior and some high top seats outside. Started with some kashke bademjaan and mirza ghasemi. They have fresh sangak or round bread which goes well with these apps, though unfortunately is not complementary. The quality of the skewers were out of this world. Super tender. Clearly marinated overnight. Absolutely tasty and delightful. My only missing star is because of the slow service. It took a while for them to get our order. Otherwise very delicious Persian meal. Highly recommend a try.

One of those finicky places that can't decide if it wants to be high end or not. I checked in around 1:45 and it was an hour or so wait for lunch. They have a text system and their wait time quoted was pretty accurate. I came back and was able to be seated immediately at one of the stools adjacent to the bar. I ordered a glass of wine and some dips. Despite great bar seating the menu is definitely designed to be shared. Prices are on the moderate to high side. Dips are around £8 each, breads £4, kebabs around £20. With that said, I found that the quality of the food matched the prices. The balal (£7) aka corn on the cob was unbelievably good. The hummus (£7.50) was unbeatable. The mast o musir (£7.50) was missable. The bread was great. Service was fine but pretty impersonal. One of those rare instances where the service fee seems a bit of a farce. Docking at least a star because the toilets (only two for the whole restaurant) were vile - one was completely clogged, the other was missing toilet paper and the waste basket was overflowing. A complete embarrassment for any restaurant. Overall I was a bit disappointed and wouldn't rush to recommend.

They sat a party that didn't have reservations ahead of us and ignored our request to be seated sooner since we were already there. Then they offered us seats at the bar instead. When asking the host how he could seat people who didn't have reservations ahead of us, he claimed that those people had reservations. That was a blatant lie since we were present when they were telling the host that they DID NOT have reservations. Cannot say anything about the food but I can say that dishonesty and deceit are not signs of perfection or a dedication to any culinary perfection. Zero is what they are going to get from me. I left 100.00 pounds on the counter for them to keep as the price for their dishonesty. They will never have anything more from me.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* BraveCloth47, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* BraveCloth47 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to BraveCloth47 for any questions Peter may have as BraveCloth47 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* BraveCloth47 now uses their connections at Berenjak London to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If BraveCloth47 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
