Go for dinner
We heard good things about this place for dinner. Yet, we were staying at the Foundry, which offered it for room service. The wait staff was very friendly. I ordered the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and potatoes. The eggs were salty, but the avocado toast was good. The potatoes were average. We'll have to see if dinner lives up to the hype because the restaurant looks very cool when we walked by.

We came to eat brunch with our infant son and a couple of friends. Staff were very friendly and provided great service. The brunch selection was very good as well! We would return again for sure.

We were staying at the Foundry, so just wandered down to have breakfast in their restaurant. It was okay. Better to go to a cafe in town.

Fantastic experience. We always stop at Benne on Eagle to have breakfast when we stay in Asheville . Tara our server was a gem, made us feel welcome and was very attentive. The entire team was friendly. The food was DELICIOUS and TASTY! We had Pancakes, Mushrooms Toast and Egg& Steak. Chef Jarred came out to check on us which was a nice touch. :)

My wife and I had a memorable dinner at Beene. The staff was friendly and helpful providing outstanding service. I had the best damn pork chop I’ve ever had in any restaurant and my wife’s trout with curry sauce was terrific. We spoke with the chefs and shared our thoughts with them. I need to ad that the sweet potato hush puppies with the two types of butter are something one should try. We had them for desert This is a restaurant I would go back to often if I lived in Asheville With parking a problem it is nice that complimentary parking is available at the Foundry Hotel.

Caring staff, Modern Soul, all food fresh & delish with great drinks too. Mushroom toast was great & healthy, while Cinamon Roll in cast iron with maple bacon is pure sin. Thanks Leah

Delicious brunch in an appealing restuarant. We have been trying brunch options in Asheville for a few months. Benne on Eagle is the best so far. There are delicious and interesating choices on the menu for food and drink with a friendly waitress and Chef...who were helpful and accommodating. We will return.

Benne's Back. This restaurant has a great story, as it is located in what was once a historic and thriving black community in downtown Asheville. They keep to that history in the menu, and when they were first established as the dining venue of the Foundry hotel, they were ranked # 5 best new restaurant in the country by Esquire (2019). The food was amazing and unique. Fell off a bit, but now, with a new executive chef, I think they are back on track. We had a lovely meal with very attentive staff, all of whom had great energy. The mixed drinks were wonderful and very creative. The apps were great, I highly recommend the Hoppin John w pork belly. The best I have had this side of Charleston. This place is downtown but well off the beaten path, and a nice respite if its a holiday or a busy weekend downtown. The LEAF arts and music cultural center is just steps away, so if you are going to an event there, this makes a nice place to end your evening. We will be back.
Be the first to ReplyThank you, Benne!
5 stars is not enough to express my gratitude for Benne on Eagle and their wonderful staff. My mother has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer (6 diagnosis in 3 years). She has completed Chemo for 2 years and has had 7 major surgeries during this time. Our doctor's visit this week was the best news we've received. She is able to take a break from Chemo and enjoy living her life again! To celebrate, we made reservations at Benne on Eagle. My mother is handicapped. When we arrived, the staff opened the door for us and walked her to our table, safely. We were greeted by Brandon, Jesse, and our phenomenal server. We had an up front view of the master chefs working hard to prepare our meals. Mom hasn't had much of an appetite from the treatments. She has lost most of the sense to taste. When we received our food, Mom couldn't believe how amazing it tasted. She ate every bit of hers and ours! The staff was incredible. They went above and beyond 5 star service to accommodate us. Brandon and the team are absolutely amazing. The food and drinks were outstanding. It brought tears to our eyes to watch her enjoy dining out again! Thanks again to the Benne Staff, Management Team, and the phenomenal Chefs. This is an experience we will remember for a lifetime.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful taste of Asheville
We sought out Benne after my husband read a review of it in the NYT and we were visiting Asheville for one night. It was off the beaten path, where most of the restaurants were hopping. Because it was off by itself on quiet Eagle Street, we almost didn't notice it. It's owned by the Foundry Hotel. Inside, there were some tables and booths, but we were invited to sit at a high table, near the bar, next to a window, which was fine with us. The menu was not extensive but offered some unusual choices, which was fun. I had the grilled cauliflower and my husband had fish, both of which dishes were delicious and served quickly and with an personal touch by Brandon. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the laid-back feel, and the decor, with murals of Black artists. Also, it was delightful to find an eating establishment in Asheville that had harmonious racial diversity and balance.

I sat at the bar for dinner, it was just me. Brandon was very attentive and helped with suggestions without hovering 👍 The Apple ribs small plate had so much flavor and not too spicy, very tender. The Caesar salad was just right; fresh romaine, light dressing, cornbread croutons… mmmm. And I topped it off with hummingbird cake! A wonderful moist spice cake that was deconstructed with frosting underneath that had bananas, pineapple and so creamy! I’ll be back for breakfast tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️😊 Teresa
