I too was enticed by the $45 lunch special for Restaurant week. A Caesar salad, Dry aged sirloin, and chocolate mousse for $45?! Sounds too good to be true and unfortunately it was.1st- the Caesar salad - arguably the best part. The Caesar had a fantastic dressing and was a decent portion for a lunch serving. Came out cold and delicious. 8/102nd- the dry aged sirloin - wow, what a disappointment. The whole platter felt like an attempt of being an NYC steakhouse in the same conversation at Keen's, Luger's, or Gallagher's. The steak was awfully bland and instead of the buttery flavor you'd expect from a dry aged steak it was more funky flavor than sweet. The steak also had an ungodly amount of fatty bits which were entirely not edible. THE ONLY STEAK IVE HAD IN NYC THAT I HAD TO USE STEAK SAUCE. The steak sauce was delicious even though it bordered on the cocktail sauce side of things. The potatoes looked like a steakhouse whipped potato but instead it was flavorless and chunky soo it missed the mark. 3rd - chocolate mousse - was delicious and light. Wish there was more texture besides the two whipped options of mousse or the whipped cream it's plated with. Service: was on point and attentive. It's the reason I don't give this review a 2 or a 1. If you're looking for an authentic NY Steakhouse I WOULD NOT GO TO BEN AND JACKS. Luger's, Keen's, Benjamin's, and even Royal 35 are better options than this steakhouse. I've been here twice now: my first and my last time.

New York restaurant week 2023 is the reason why we were here. Many options on the menu. So we ordered Cesar salad, onion soup, steak, with sides creamy spinach and mushrooms. One thing I like the most is the service, the staff are overall very nice, observant and professional. One thing I don't like is it can be noisy as there was a group here for celebration. And it became so noisy which I think common here from the previous reviews. The onion soup was yummy when served but the soup itself is a bit thin. The creamy spinach is creamy and yummy but the onions in the mushroom is not soft enough and a bit flavorless. The steak smelled so nice crispy outside yet soft inside. I ordered the medium one but a bit overcooked. Overall quite pleasant dinning experience

The steak was amazing, the service was great but when I'm paying top notch for food and a steakhouse I expect it to be more 'intimate and quiet.' There was a table near us that had a child on an iPad and was so loud and was disruptive towards dining experience. I loved the steak for x amount of ppl it was prepared perfectly. I will say the desserts come with whipped cream and chocolate sauce which was good but reminded me of cool whip meets hersheys sauce. All in all I would go back but more just for steak.
Be the first to ReplyHad a great time here with my family.
We ordered the steak for 2 and the ribeye along with the onion rings, asparagus, sautéed mushrooms, tomato mozzarella, and chocolate mousse dessert. We also got a bottle of moscato for the table. The servers were super friendly and patient as we ordered a bunch of stuff. It is kinda dark in here so it gives a more calming formal vibe but it's family friendly and wasn't too crowded when we went. Came out to around $100/person. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Be the first to ReplyOur New York holiday experience could not have been more
Our New York holiday experience could not have been more perfect... and Ben and Jack's was the exclamation point on our experience. Dino, Mike and Vegim were absolute gems. The menu, service and hospitality were world-class. Their heartfelt commitment to service were like no other... bravo!
Be the first to ReplyHands down excellent! Great service.
Better steaks. Classic NY steakhouse with really fantastic food.
Be the first to ReplyThis was the worst steak we've ever had in a "steakhouse".
NY Strip ordered medium rare was delivered way overcooked. I could have returned it but it was worse than that, it was tough, dry, stringy, like the cheapest cut from a grocery store. Stuffed baked potato was at least day old and had been reheated, was dry and tasteless. Very disappointing as we had expected a reasonably nice dinner out for the price, which was as not cheap. We could have a much better steak and baked potato at home. Service was adequate but indifferent. We will not be back.

Been going to the best steakhouses in NYC for years.Went there for steak. I ALWAYS order the NY Strip. I know, don't get nervous, they always suggest the Porterhouse and everyone loves Filet mignon but I like what I like. Instead of putting a steak in front of me it was in a tilted plate in front of me sliced. Now I'm 72 years old, walked 17 blocks from Penn Station, I can slice my own damn steak. I was looking forward to this steak for weeks. The steak was quite tough. I wasn't even sure what kind of steak it was. The menu said PRIME NEW YORK SIRLOIN STEAK, to tell the truth not sure what is means. I have since Googled what a NY Strip is and it is part of the sirloin. This was the wrong part. The four of us shared 3 sides , they were decent. I found out German Potatoes are home fries which I love- very good. The mashed potatoes had zero taste. I really can't judge the creamed spinach. I never ate it before because I'm not a spinach fan. My wife was impressed that I actually ate a small portion. She loves creamed spinach and wanted to know if it was good. I told her "how am I supposed to know?" I hate spinach. BTW- the reason my wife wasn't there because it was a dinner with my fraternity brothers I've known for over 50 years. Instead of talking about girls, like the old days we talked about grandkids and doctors. So anyway, we had a great night, service great, but food mediocre. There's too many great steakhouses in NYC to go here.
Be the first to ReplyWe are visiting from the west coast so this was over first
We are visiting from the west coast so this was over first time at Ben and Jack's. The service was excellent, our waiter kind and attentive. It was the last day of restaurant week so we tried it! The food was delicious, generous portions. The seafood pasta by far was the best I've ever had!... and I've had quite a few, it was complete loaded seafood and topped with half a lobster. The sirloin was tender, juicy and cooked to how it was ordered. I definitely recommend the mashed potatoes. My only meh... moment was the sautéed broccoli which could have used more time as it was super crunchy still but the flavor was nice. Save room for dessert also- especially the tiramisu . The ambiance is fairly romantic offset by how loud it is- but when you're having a good time it gets loud I suppose. Overall, it's a great place for a meal. We were also treated to dessert and coffee on the house but not completely sure why so that was a nice surprise. Thank you!
