Bar Pitti a tourist trap ?
They are scenic but Not for mature audiences. Flavors don’t linger, and a party more than 2 may not desire to if seated indoors
Be the first to ReplySo not worth the hype or wait
You’d think with the crowd waiting to get in this place it was the best pasta on the east coast. Nope. I got the pumpkin ravioli. Bland and cost $27 for like 8 pieces. Total rip off and they don’t even take credit cards. I had to eat a second dinner when I got home that’s how little food you get for the $. They also could care less who got there first. They just call out “any party of 2 for outside?” and take whomever speaks up first. Our friend went inside and asked if we could sit at a 4 top bc that’s how many we were and the guy said okay - even tho others had been waiting far longer than we. But it’s total chaos, so fair is out the window. If you want a table be aggressive - it’s like an auction. There are much better pasta places in Manhattan. I won’t be returning.
Be the first to ReplyBar Pity a tourist trap
Bar Pity was pitiful. It started with the rude barking host who told us that we had reserved for 6:00 and they give the tables away if you are not there, which we knew of course, but we had reserved for 6:30. He begrudgingly sat us at a table though did not seem to accept that there could have been a mishap from telephone reservations. I ordered “spaghetti vongole”. Who uses a pink sauce and sage to n it his dish? And worse, who uses cheap tiny Vietnamese clams when Long Island is 5 miles away? . The dish was bitter and with no flavor of garlic or thyme. Worst of all the little dime sized runts turn blue when cooked and made my feel like one of the wanna- be actors with dyed blue hair stationed prominently in the cramped space, was on my plate. I was warned when they first opened 20 some years ago that it was an actors den. Which kept me away until I just wanted to celebrate my brother’s birthday and walk along Bleecker and McDougal. Wish I had gone to Malatesta now. My family all had mediocre pasta so we rushed out before any more damage could be done, but the wine was good, despite being mis- titled by our wait-person as Cabernet though it was a Sangiovese Merlot blend. A young poser may enjoy their show. Not for mature audiences.
Be the first to ReplyCheck the bill very carefully!!!
The food was OK, nothing amazing. But the bill was extraordinarily creative. We were horrendously overcharged, a fact we only realised later. Of course, the restaurant is cash only so I suspect the whole business is suspect. Great shame as we went there on a recommendation. Bottom line - if you do go, check the bill very carefully before paying.

Conceirge from The Dominick recommended and our 1000% approved place for pasta and possible celebrity sightings.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent
Highly rated and a line at the door. Outdoor seating. Known for their paparadelle...2 types. Excellent! Oh my handmade noodles, sauces were excellent. Many excellent dishes and a great place to arrive early and bask in the cool evening air. Will be back.

Attention - they charge you higher prices than on the card. When it comes time to pay and you notice it, the staff is no longer friendly.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, and service!
Came here for lunch on a cold afternoon of walking around. Good service with laid back and engaging staff and very good food and wine. It's a place you don't feel rushed at all and very comfortable.

Can only pay in cash and in addition they have their own ATM where you pay 3 Dollars extra to withdraw. Expensive prices.
Be the first to ReplyAlways a good option in NY
Always a great option when in New York City. One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Obs.: They only take cash as payment. Restaurante italiano muito bom em Nova York. Obs.: Só aceitam dinheiro em espécie como pagamento.

If you are African American, Arab or Indian, I would advise you NOT to visit Bar Pitti as the ignorance from the wait staff is relayed by ignoring said ethnicities.
The food, being fresh & good, is not worth the bad aftertaste left from such negative treatment.
DO NOT DINE AT BAR PITTI
DO NOT DINE AT BAR PITTI!!! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I came to this restaurant recently with my boyfriend as we were looking forward to trying this "traditional" Italian place that we've seen so much on socials. Where do I begin? When we arrived we wanted to dine outside but there was no host nor did anyone care to approach us so we sat ourselves. We were given water and menus and a very rude worker slammed a big chalk board with the daily specials written very sloppily on it, mind you, everything was in Italian so we didn't understand the board, on the chair next to us. We ended up ordering 2 pasta dishes and 2 beers. After my experience here, and having 10+ yrs experience in the food industry, I decided to share.
We noticed every single table around us were given bread and olive oil besides us, including tables that sat after us! We asked for the complimentary bread and didn't receive it until after our dishes came. The food was good, nothing special. The only reason this place is popular is because of their al dente Italian style food which is essentially hard pasta. My boyfriend finished his beer and asked the server which was an older, short, bald Italian man for another beer. The beers came with cold glasses so when he came back with the beer, my boyfriend kindly asked him for a new glass. The old man rolled his eyes and muttered something we didn't understand and came back to the table with the new glass, slammed it down and shouted "next time, you ask for everything at once!" Excuse me? YOU WORK HERE. I'M PAYING YOU'S. We sat there hesitant for a second like "wait, did he just really say that?" And so when another waiter came (there were 3 men in total working the floor that day) by we complained about his service and he overheard us as he was picking up after other tables around us. After hearing us as he walks by, HE SLAMMED the dirty dishes he collected down ON SOMEONE ELSE'S TABLE who was eating and RAN INTO MY BOYFRIENDS FACE like he was trying to fight him! Dramatic and everything! We honestly were so confused and angry for him that he must hate his life working there. Mind you, I got up real quick as I am 5'10" and TOWERED over this old man screaming in my face and gently placed a hand on his shoulder and said "you don't wanna do this". Instead of addressing this worker, the staff laughed it off and said "oh he's old, don't mind him". Another younger staff member apologized for his behavior while laughing and offered us cookies. I repeatedly told him I do not want any desserts, I want to pay my bill and leave. We were having a great lunch until this all happened in a matter of 5 minutes. Still to this day don't even know why I paid my bill and I've been working in the restaurant industry for 10+ yrs and NEVER EVER in my life have been treated so badly. As we were leaving, the old man ran up on us again! As soon as we left I quickly came to the reviews section and wished I had read them before we went... If you're thinking about supporting this business, think twice and go around the block to Olio E Piu for much better service and quality food.
P.S. THE MAFIA IS AS DEAD AS JOHN GOTTI.
Excellent food
Went here with friends who are regulars and that definitely made a difference. Although there was a line, we were shown to a table almost immediately. Unlike the comments below, our service was very good but again we were with regulars. Ordered the spinach, speck, and meatballs to share. Then the papardelle in cream sauce and the linguine with clams. Everything was really excellent. This is not a place you linger, they are trying to turn tables quickly. But we enjoyed ourselves.
Be the first to ReplyYou don’t come here for great service, you come here for great food.
Bar Pitti serves AMAZING food, I can promise you that much. The pappardelle truly didn’t disappoint, there’s a reason it’s one of their most popular items on the menu. But as my title says, you really don’t come here for great service. Don’t come with high expectations, and you won’t be disappointed. The waiters treat everyone equally as far as I noticed, always in a rush and very rarely smile, if ever. Unless of course you’re a celebrity of some sort, then I’m sure they’ll be sweeter to you. Still I’m giving this place 4 stars because I like their food that much.
Be the first to ReplyA bar with a food outdoors seating!
I was there Saturday 7/24
I went with muy wife for a glass of wine an appetizer we got there just before 6:00pm we got the last table on the sidewalk it was nice because the sidewalk is closed for pedestrians we had Antipasto Toscano let me tell you the prochutto, mortadella, cheese and the salamin with the warm bread was outstanding!! We had a red glass of wine “ montepulciano “ very good!
The service was excellent!
Why four starts the stairs to the basements and the bathroom need more attention
DO NOT GO
Such a horrible treatment... The waiter told my friend to shut up. The food was at best mediocre. DO NOT GO
Be the first to ReplyWorst restaurant in New York.
Worst restaurant in New York. Staff has an attitude which puts the restaurant industry and Italians to shame. Sad to see such attitude in such troubled times. Maybe it’s owned by the mafia for money laundering. Since they accept only cash. No covid restrictions. And such high headedness can only be with a mafia family.
Be the first to ReplyTasty Pasta Every Time
Everybody can cook pasta, there are over 1700 Italian restaurants in NY alone. However, in my own experience, I find that only a handful can cook GOOD pasta. Mostly you eat out and the pasta is overcooked and a bit flavourless. At Bar Pitti, I know that when I order my pasta it will be al dente and it will smell of garlic or fresh parsley or tomatoes depending on the dish I choose. It is always fresh and delicious.
