Go!
Terrific spot in Cambridge! Growing up in an Italian American household, I’m always tentative about going to an Italian restaurant is it never quite meet expectations. Enza surpassed them. We arrived for dinner, and I started with a cocktail, La Carta, a play on the Paper Plane. Well-balanced, and a great start. Adding a bottle of barolo with dinner, we then had fried baby artichokes to share, I had the appetizer of beef carpaccio, and moved on to the ricotta gnocchi with lobster. Thanks to my companions, I also was able to try the octopus, the olive oil cake, and more… Each dish was prepared and presented with care, and the food was well seasoned, balanced, and cooked (with the exception of the raw carpaccio, lol), perfectly. Service was top notch and attentive without being interuptive. For dessert, I had an affogato which they slightly altered at my request). All in all, easily earning a top review and another visit very, very soon. Go.

This is a great new-ish place in Cambridge at the Charles Hotel. The menu is creative and full of fresh pasta. I wish they had photos of all dishes as they were hard to imagine. That would have made it slightly easier to choose from all the great choices. We went with the roasted mushroom appetizer which was tasty and delicious due to the roasted pear and truffle honey, the rigatoni with spicy lamb sausage, and the Abruzzesse Style Fish Stew that had monkfish, head on shrimp (no meat on that), lots of mussels, a great pice of octopus, a tomato/saffron crab broth, and a grilled piece of crostini to soak it all up. I could have used another! The olive oil cake and generous pour of coffee was a nice end to the meal. Our server Trish was awesome. Drinks were very good. We'll go back and order something different until we figure this place out! Bonus: Love the validated hotel parking.

Great food and service. Outstanding pasta. Prices reasonable. Limited entree menu. Need more lighting in center of restaurant above booths. Very dim. Otherwise lovely spot.

I have always liked being in the Charles Hotel. And I have lived in and visited the area off and on for 30 years now. So I was interested to try the new restaurant in the old space. The updates to the interior are attractive, and the wait staff are pleasant and capable enough. But the food is nothing special.

We had a great dinner at this restaurant on a cold rainy january. The restaurant was warm and friendly. Wish the table was not so close to the set up station as there was a lot of staff on our side. Wine menu was amazing. The appetizers meals and dessert. Came out fresh hot and tasty. My husband felt like his food was a little to salty. But mine was perfect. Lemon ricotta gnocchi perfect

A summer night out with friends led us to the Charles hotel in Cambridge to Bar Enzo for the perfect pasta dinner. The evening started with delicious cocktails. Appetizer of ciabatta bread sticks with a spread of marscarpone cheese.lemon and sea salt was a hit at the table. The star of this menu is the Chef’s homemade pasta’s and they did not disappoint! The lasagna was everything it was hyped up to be. Be sure to add a side of extra bolognese which was amazing also.lemon ricotta gnocchi were little pillows of bliss with the perfect hint of lemon with peas to balance out the dish. Service was great. Pasta heaven!

Pros
Food we had was mostly excellent-prosciutto, calamari, mushroom and Caesar salads all excellent and beautiful presentations. The lasagna is awesome and must be ordered with bolognese.
Cons
Server forgot tuna appetizer.
Monkfish entree was barely lukewarm. Pork Milanese…a B-
One of us requested a red wine suggestion-our fault for not looking at list-two glasses later at $34 a glass!!! Yikes. This was more than some of entrees. There’s a presumption line that was crossed that was offensive.
More disappointed than impressed.
Delicious
We made a reservation for the bar area, but we’re given the choice of bar or dining room. (Same menu). It was a chilly night and the dining room was cozier—-so chose a table there.
We started with cocktails (martinis) and antipasto. The drinks—-the Enzo martini and grey goose martini were good. We got the grilled mushroom and heart of palm antipastos and split both. They were both absolutely fantastic.
For the main, we split the lasagna. Again—-delicious!!! The extra bolognese we ordered was not needed and was more like a marinara. No meat.
We look forward to returning and would get all of these dishes again—-along with more.
Happy.
Elegant with average food
The atmosphere at this Charles Hotel restaurant is comfy elegance, the service is excellent. The food, however is average. The eggplant entree was mixed in its texture and lacked flavor. The chicken was fine, the kale nothing special ($10 as a side). The Ceasar salad was tasty at $17.

Read the review in the Globe and wanted to try it out. Despite reservations, were seated at a high top in the bar area. Waitstaff kept going outside to serve a couple on the patio allowing cold air to blow in. Service was very slow. Martinis had single pitted olive at bottom (why mess with a good thing?). Caesar salad was delicious as was the hake. Arancini balls not so good. Garlic broccoli was over cooked with slightly sweet flavor. Rigatoni with meat sauce was good but lukewarm (? sitting under lights). $80 per person. Hopefully they can step it up.
