Banter Room Vancouver Reviews
Six of us stood in line around 10pm.
Lady asked how many of us. We told her six, and she said just to give them a few mins and they would let us in. She then let in about 10-15 that just walked up after that while we stood there. We kindly left the line, and promise to never go back there.
Poor service
Went with family.First time there.Loves the location, lots going on in area. The food was average to good. The service is where they failed hard.Had to wait a long time to order, and it wasn’t that busy.Even to het a drink refil i had to flag someone down. When we were ready to leave, that was the most painful.Took forever. And of course they stare at you when you pay with card on machine.Minimum tip 18%.I would not recommend on the service along. Thanks

Went to this place for brunch and loved it! It was very quiet, with not a lot of people around, but that had nothing to do with the food. I had the short rib Benny and I would highly recommend! Check it out if you are looking for a good brunch spot with no wait.

Stopped in for dinner before heading to a concert at Roger's Arena. Staff was super friendly and welcoming and loved the cozy corner table on the heated patio. The holiday decor made the place feel very festive. We started with drinks and the avocado bruschetta which was amazingly delicious. I had the butternut squash tagliatelle which was creamy and delicious and loved the addition of the crispy sage - very fall tasting. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the warm pear salad with chicken. I only regret I didn't have room for the cheesecake - that'll have to be for my next visit.
This is the FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED BLATANT
This is the FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED BLATANT RACISM and DISCRIMINATION. My friends and I came to Banter Room on a Saturday night. We were a group of 11 girls celebrating a 30th birthday and excited to check out Banter Room after our a nice dinner down the street. Here is what happened: Entrance: We arrived at 12:30 am and ready to provide our IDs to the bouncer since there was no one in line. We were immediately told that they could not accommodate our group. Our group was told that our group was too big due to the bar requiring a seat for each individual to meet capacity regulations. This is absolutely understandable but we were confused at the reasoning for our particular party because the tables that they pointed out to us were empty. The bouncer explained that they couldn't seat us (even though the atmosphere was clearly a standing area) and nobody else was sitting at tables. A second BR employee told us that they were also at capacity and couldn't allow anyone in. Mid-conversation, a group of 9 guys arrived up to the front of the line and we're immediately let in. This was meanwhile we were being told that our group couldn't be accommodated due to being at "max capacity". My girlfriends and I were left shocked. We immediately left because it was clear that they did not want us to come in. We felt discriminated against as a group and we're left confused. We were extremely concerned at how we were being treated but felt like it wasn't worth our energy to reason or question their actions as it was clear the establishment did not want our business and had no practice in equal treatment. I never ever write bad reviews for businesses because it's important for me to not bash establishments for mistakes that can be corrected. This experience left us shaken by the feeling of being discrimination against as we were a large minority group and our birthday girl extremely disappointed. Multiple conversations with multiple employees with conflicting reasons why they wouldn't let us inside. I hope this review helps BR reviews their branding and customer practices.

Our first time strolling through Yaletown; this was a nice spot for an early HH. Friendly staff and good service.
Located on the Yaletown strip, Banter room is a good place
Located on the Yaletown strip, Banter room is a good place to grab some drinks and enjoy good food. I got their bottle of rose and shared with a friend, would recommend. Their prices are also reasonable! For food, we got their pasta which was super creamy and flavourful. I was sharing the pasta with another friend and the staff were kind enough to equally divide the portion. I went there on a Thursday but they still had some good music playing. I'm assuming the place is different on weekends.
Mice
We saw two mice running down the wall. I am petrified of rodents and the waitress laughed it off and said it was normal for the area and just referred to them as butterflies. As a Vancouverite in my late 30s this is not a normal sighting at the restaurants. Food was great but service/atmosphere not so much.

we went to yaletown shortly after the pride parade and fully expected to wait to get a table. there was an approximate wait at earls in excess of 35 to 40 minutes, we put our names on the waitlist, and our party walked over to the banter room. surprisingly, they managed to get a table for four at around 4:00 pm, in time for their happy hour (2:00 pm to 5:00 pm). this place is almost always packed, has a relaxed vibe, and is dog friendly. it's the perfect place to chill with friends, catch up over cold drinks and share appetizers. the banter room has a great selection of menu items during happy hour. we shared the chicken wings, cajun waffle fries, wagyu beef sliders, (these were really good) fish tacos (fish was nicely battered), crispy tiger prawns, and sesame tuna (nice touch with the dressing in the kale).

We were on the waitlist for a table outside to be ready in a half hour and waited over an hour to be told we will not be guaranteed a table. Horrible service do not recommend. Do not waist your time.
Mediocre food in a nice setting.
I had the gnocchi and it was OK at best. Service was decent. This is probably a good drink spot but not the best choice for dinner.
Great introduction to the quality of food in Vancouver
This was my first meal in Canada and my fish tacos were so good that I returned to the Banter Room twice more. I am obviously not the only one that agrees, as it was always very busy especially around 5pm. Great start to a month long trip.
Good food and nice atmosphere in Yaletown.
My only issue is the staff. Clearly hired based on looks over service experience.

My friends and I came here to grab a bite after a night out
My friends and I came here to grab a bite after a night out on her birthday and I'm giving it 3 stars because the experience was okay. The food was alright, it was not tasting over the top amazing but was still swallowable. However, the service...probably not all of the waiters are like this there but-We got sat and then placed our orders. when it was time to pay the waiter asked if we wanted our bill together or separately but no one at our table was able to hear her as the music was loud and we were all mid-convo. eventually, I notice her standing at the table and answered that we were all paying separately. she came back with the bill and my friend's boyfriend wanted to be generous and offered to pay for the whole table he politely asked if we could have the bill together and to that, she replied "I asked you if you wanted the bill separate or together" in a rude tone we all just kind of exchanged looks and continued to pay separately.overall, it is just a meh restaurant but I would not come here again or recommend this place to anyone else as there are much better food items available elsewhere.
The food was better than the cocktails.
It's an intimate bar with not a lot of open floor space, and the tables are comfortable.
Initial experience as tourist was abysmal.
The place was practically empty no one in line except my friends I. They made us wait outside in the rain for a few min. Ordering experience was mid there are a few things I feel like i would be a snob for mentioning. We all ordered food at the same time. Half our friends got their food about 10 min early was asked how the food was tasting. Kind of just meh. Like they didn't necessary do anything wrong but relative to other restaurant experiences its just subpar. Maybe if one down a couple of drinks the experience becomes elevated. My recommendation avoid .
Nice brunch
There were so many things to try. I always like a good hash and my friend had their breakfast sandwich. Nice to sit on their outdoor patio on a sunny day and enjoying our meal.
This is my new favourite place to go to.
not one person complained about any of their food/meals and everything was great my only small complaint would be waitresses could have a bit more personality and some of the tables need to be fixed so they're not wobbly or slanted proper seating is so important. But regardless I'll still keep going back lol
Great Happy Hour Here!
Great Happy Hour! Good selection of menu items for happy hour with a full size burger which was really good. The prawns were amazing! The rest of the dishes and drinks were also good. Happy we stopped in after a day of wandering the sights!
Lovely space and decent menu.
It's definitely decorated well. Service could've been better though.
