Azul Historico Mexico City Reviews from The Last Year
Very good choice
Very friendly staff, fantastic margaritas, tired local cuisine that was very well presented and prepared. Space and atmosphere exceptional.
A unique experience
Great food served in a unique way, friendly and fast staff, great location. The aesthetics of the restaurant are the most beautiful we’ve seen in CDMX. Would definitely visit again!
Try guacamole with white ant eggs or crushed grasshoppers...
Recommended by a friend's son who went to school and lives in Mexico City, Azul Historico did not disappoint. Although seated to capacity, the courtyard ambience was still refreshing. Service was generally attentive but spotty at times...probably due to a Sunday night crowd. Food and wines were amazing. Menu choices were so different and even exotic that we probably overordered just to try some new foods. Have you ever ordered guacamole with white ant eggs or crushed grasshoppers? We had not, so one of each was appropriate...as appetizers! Our various mole mains, as well as my special order duck entree, were exquisite. The complimentary tomato salad, together with dinner and our several bottles of Saint Thomas Barbera, was more than enough to forego dessert. Five thousand pesos which included tax and a 15% gratuity was worth the experience.
Seriously Dissapointed
The staff: all seemed miserable, no smile, cold as ice. The food: my husband’s mole was so cloying sweet it tasted like Hershey syrup, mine was better but not great. Sangria also overly sweet. Way better food on the street food tour we did last night. Ambiance was nice but dark, hard to read menu. Seriously disappointed.
Yummy, clean food in a gorgeous setting
Deeelicious high- quality food- for both vegetarians and non- vegetarians. The location in a beautiful courtyard covered by a tree canopy is tranquil and unique. Highly recommend their mole negro. Lots of food and cocktail options. We’ll be back!
It didn’t surprise me as expected
Maybe my expectations were too high. Many friends recommended us this place as one of the best spots in CDMX and I’m not going to say that is not, it is. However there are areas where they can improve. 1) Plates are very good, presentation and taste is amazing, moles are a most try 2) Cocktails are ok but don’t ask for something that is not in the list because the staff will strugle 3) Wine list is short, but the staff has no clue which one to suggest. Many mexican wines from just one region. A lack of a sommelier as part of the staff is evident 4) Coffee, they do have Cafe Pluma but they don’t offer it, staff rather offer Nespreso and I don’t know why.
Go. You’ll enjoy it.
A great restaurant near the heart of Mexico city. Situated in what must be a house from the 17th or 18th century, the restaurant has a great vibe, and great food. The guacamole is fantastic, and the enchiladas con mote poblano were to die for. Recommended.
Hidden gem
This is a fantastic place for Comida in Mexico City. The setting is amazing in a leafy courtyard filled with candles and ambiance. The food and presentation was superb. The service was attentive but not overpowering. The tequila was…. Highly recommended for a lingering experience.
Five outta Five for this romantic restaurant in historic setting
Found this named by Travel & Leisure as one of the city's best.... and it was on the main floor of the Downtown Hotel where we stayed. Ate there twice in four days. Romantic setting, low lighting, colonial courtyard atmosphere, CLOTH napkins!, potted trees’ limbs overhanging the tables. Dine al fresco in good weather. Excellent array of regional Mexican dishes. Full bar. you can watch a cook pats masa into tortillas. Reservations recommended (tho in our case arriving at 5:30 or 6pm there were a couple tables available). This location is about a 5-10 minute walk from the Zocalo and near all the sites you want to see in Mexico City. Starts with included sopa marisco; I had manchamanteles -- duck w a sweet mole of ancho chile w pineapple, apple, pear and plantains; my husband had “Legendary Black Mole from Oaxaca” w chicken breast. The next night we shared enchiladas w mole and pork tacos pibil. … I ate half of his. Service excellent.
Excellent choice for dinner!
Azul Histórico is an attractive restaurant with an interior courtyard where trees form a canopy above you. Candles hang from the branches, creating a beautiful atmosphere. Our food was excellent and the service was exceptional. Our waiter, Juan, was attentive and helpful. We joked later in the evening that if someone would have dropped a napkin, he would have caught it before it hit the ground. He made the evening special for all of us. While not inexpensive, we thought the combination of excellent food, service and atmosphere made it a bargain.
Fast fine dining
Azul Historico was recommended both by our hotel and by our guidebook and having looked at the menu online in advance, we were both looking forward to it. Whilst the food was good, the evening was spoilt by the over speedy service. Our waiter asked us four or five times if we were ready to order before we’d had a chance to go through the menu. Having ordered, the starter turned up almost immediately and the main courses before we had eaten less than half of the starter. We continued with the starter and the main courses were cold by the time we were ready for them. Our waiter was also keen to whisk the plates/glasses away before we had finished. The setting of the restaurant is lovely but we wanted to savour the experience and weren’t really given a chance to. Both the food and the drinks are on the expensive side.
Warning: Tourist Trap!!
Azul Historico attracts hordes of hungry guests day after day for unknown reasons. It's utterly baffling because the food is nearly inedible, the prices are outrageously high, and in January, you freeze under the open sky. We've had several meals in Mexico City, and this was by far the worst and most expensive. Additionally, the timing was terrible, and the servers were rude. - Guacamole - the worst ever; tasteless and lacking acidity. - Ceviche - the worst ever; large flavorless fish pieces. - Enchiladas - the worst ever; swimming in an inedible sauce. About the timing: 10 minutes before the starters were served, a waiter came and threw the napkin that was on my plate into my lap. As if I don't know when it's time to remove the napkin. Later - we were only halfway through the starters when the main courses were placed on the table, and they were lukewarm by the time we got to them. However, as mentioned, they were inedible. We ended up leaving half of all the expensive food, and in a surprisingly short time, the table was cleared. Were we interested in desserts? No thanks - just the bill, please. In addition to these dishes, we each ordered 1 glass of house white wine (excellent), and the bill for all this misery crept up to just under 1,800 pesos. A scandal. We asked to pay by card. The waiter entered the amount on the machine and now asked how much he could add for a tip. We exclaimed in unison: No tip! The waiter raised an eyebrow in shock and almost screamed in horror: NO TIP?? It was the highlight of the evening. Don't be fooled by the charming ambiance. Azul Historico is a top-notch tourist trap. And the prices should be reported to the police.
Delicious dinner
Amazing food and wonderful service in a stunning setting. The chipotle prawns were delicious. A bit more expensive than most restaurants in cdmx but worth it!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
