Atoboy New York Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious food, reasonably priced/value for money, and fun
Delicious food, reasonably priced/value for money, and fun experience. The only downside is they are pretty strict on the dining limit as far as I can tell (no issue with that), and they sort of rush you as a result. Came here with two of my friends on a Wednesday afternoon, as one of them was able to snag a prime dinner slot. Arrived a couple of minutes early, and had to wait to be seated as the previous table was finishing up (we were seated about ~5 minutes late?). For drinks, we got one of the Hana makgeolli which was honestly a lot more sour than I'm used to (and I've had a good amount of craft makgeollis). It was fine but honestly next time I think I'll stick to wine. Food-wise, its a 4 course pre-fixe dining menu, where you get to choose one of three options from three sections (the first starter is the same for everyone). Some of the options have supplements, and there's also an option to add on fried chicken too. We opted to try every single dish and share + add the fried chicken. Overall, every dish was pretty solid! Standouts include: - Sea urchin: just so creamy and umami. Good news is you don't get an option, you have to order this! - Squash: They deep fry the squash and the sauce they douse it in is simply divine - Octopus: very tender and a fun sauce as well! - Short Rib: delicious and filling, worth the supplement! - Fried chicken: not the ~best~ fried chicken ever, but very solid and super fun to have as an add-on. Left the dinner feeling happily full. Now, the only downside is that you do feel the fact that they are rushing you-- at times they cleared plates before we were all done, but then didn't bring out the next dish until much later (and didn't clear the remaining plates). So that's one thing I'd suggest they improve on.

Atoboy was a great experience! We had 4 people, so we got everything on the menu to share. Everything was great but I thought the cod and the salad could have been skipped. The fried chicken was very crispy and tender and I would recommend paying a bit more to add to your meal. Our waiter was also very friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend this spot.

Loved this place--fun and delicious dishes, and a cool urban underground vibe. Everything was good, but the rice was especially satisfying. Highly recommend and will be back on my next trip to nyc!

We dined as a party of three and opted for the family-style option, which allowed us to sample a wide array of dishes from the menu. Atoboy combines Korean and modern influences creatively. Standouts included the beef tartare, sweet shrimp, and the cob. The SEA URCHIN starter featured quinoa and traditional Korean flavors like gim over steamed egg, enhanced by the rich sea urchin. YELLOWTAIL complemented by a refreshing green sauce that perfectly enhanced the flavors of the fish. BEEF TARTARE received a fusion twist with Korean elements such as perilla and myeolchi, providing a delightful mix of textures. SQUASH was served piping hot with a Korean touch from gangjeong and fontina cheese. The crispy exterior added a satisfying crunch to the dish. SWEET SHRIMP was balanced in with white kimchi, beurre blanc sauce, and peas, blending flavors perfectly. The COD dish stood out with its bold flavors dominated by cod and gochujang curry, leaving a lingering, delightful aftertaste. The SHORT RIB dish was equally impressive, with tender short rib complemented by the rich flavors of oxtail. Each main course was accompanied by seaweed rice. Overall, Atoboy impressed with its inventive menu and delicious dishes that blend Korean tradition with modern flair.
Fantastic!!
A-mazing!!! I research restaurants wherever we go, looking for unique experiences and great food. This place hits on all cylinders! We added the Octopus & fried chicken to the tasting. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE SQUASH. OMG!! Squash, with a crazy delicious foam hit on all cylinders. Our waiter, Jude was a blast! The Som helped us choose a great bottle of wine, and even landed under our stated budget. The interior and external are very understated, it adds to the mystique of the plan. My only minor negative was that the food came out fast. While to portions are small, it adds up and is a lot to consume in just about an hour. Cannot wait to go back!
Our waiter was incredibly patient and friendly with us.
We tried their tasting menu and each dish was like a breath of fresh air. Truly enjoyed this restaurant and we liked that the ambiance was a little bit more relaxed than other tasting menu restaurants.
Pretty good!
Was able to secure a reservation for a Sunday night and came to enjoy. We were seated about 15 minutes after a reservation time and the adventure started. The setting is quite no frills including hard plastic chairs and utensils in a canister on your table. Most dishes had a Korean take on it with the exception of a few, like the curry cod. That one was our least favorite. Pretty much everything else ordered was good but our favorite was actually the starter snack - the uni jjim. Could have ordered an entire bowl of that! The dishes come out quickly and we had to ask them to slow down to ensure we enjoyed the latter dishes hot. All in all, a pretty good meal for $75 including service. We were full at the end although we did order the add on fried chicken.

I hope they never ever stop serving the squash.
Everything we ordered off of this spring/summer 2024 menu was so tasty. Uni. Beef tartare. Yellowtail. THE SQUASH. Pork belly. Cod. Sujeonggwa granita (!!!). A perfect meal.
This is sort of a hard place to review because there were
This is sort of a hard place to review because there were some high highs and some mediocre mediocrity, all of which made me wonder if the $75 fixed price menu is a steal or a rip-off. Indeed, two of the best things we ate were add-ones: the fried chicken, of course. And the granita dessert. My other favorite was the squash. The uni starter was also very good, and as with the beef tartare, a nice combination of textures and flavors that really showcased the protein. Less successful, I'd say, were all the other proteins -- so yeah, yikes. The cod curry was fine and flavorful, but all that curry didn't really pare well with the seaweed rice, I thought. The pork belly was not good -- quite dry, which takes some doing with pork belly, and pretty bland. The shrimp was also dull. Service was stellar. The decor was sort of stark, and while that's not a make-or-break thing, it did feel odd to shell out hundreds of dollars for dinner while sitting in some plastic chairs in a concrete bunker. IDK. The chicken was so very good, as was that squash and the sujeonggwa granita, that I'm not *mad* about the meal. Hell, I've given the place four stars, the weight of which truly rests on the shoulders of that squash-and-cheese-foam combo. But damn, this wasn't a great meal and by the time we paid for all the extras, maybe it should have been?
Happy to have gone with one of my colleagues during work
Happy to have gone with one of my colleagues during work trip. Was able to be seated after 30 min at the bar. All the items were highly recommended by our server and we were very happy we went with all her recommendations. Everything was delicious! Must go with the short ribs and squash. Also do not pass on the fried chicken.
Had one of my favorite meals in the entire time I've lived
Had one of my favorite meals in the entire time I've lived in NYC last night. Each dish simply outdid itself. Amy was an outstanding server! We had the best time and felt confident we got the most of our first time visit because of her. One of my favorite touches was the N/A kombucha served out of a wine bottle and poured by the glass in gorgeous stemware. I couldn't name a better place for the sober community to enjoy! Run, don't walk!!
Food was all really good.
Just wish portions were bigger! Service is pretty fast and interior is nice.

Came here for dinner and generally speaking had an overall good experience. Food was good with friendly service. I liked the more relaxed energy here too. I found the cocktails were a bit light but all in all enjoyed the meal and recommend if you're in the area.
Recommend a try, but food comes with a lot of
Recommend a try, but food comes with a lot of inconsistencies. Slightly hipster ambiance with rustic, naked walls. Service was 3 stars, but I will likely never return. Sea urchin starter was great, but the amount of sea urchin offered per bowl is somewhat variable and inconsistent. I can only assume daily uni quality is different. Can easily spot if you scroll thru photos. Flavor was good, not overpowering for a starter, but sets the tone for korean fusion. Stripe bass was my favorite of the night. An elevated ceviche if you will. The citrus and slight spice was perfect for the slightly cooked, raw fish. Refreshing. Beef tartare was average. The tiny anchovies were good but the entire dish really needed a carb. A bit of sushi rice or a piece of grilled bruschetta toast would've been perfect. As it was, it was slightly salty and the anchovies didn't offer enough of a texture contrast. Potatoe jeon was an amazing ...latke. Eat the friend potatoe with the sauce, piece of egg, and marinated cilantro in a single bite. The acidic cilantro really balances the fried food and the egg gives it a creamy flavor. This was my second favorite of the night. We had the juk also which was immensely disappointing. No umami, not real flavor, other than overpowering ginger. Asians know how to make great congee and this was not it. Cod was cooked very well, but I didn't care for the gochujang curry. Tasted like an Indian curry and I really couldn't taste any gochujang. The fish itself should have been the star but the strong curry destroyed it. A milder miso may have been better. Lamb was great with very flavorful jus. But the meat came with a giant piece of fat on eat slice, which I really wish they had cut off. No knife is given so we had to spit out the fat. Kind of unappealing. Rice that comes with the main entree was great. Wish I had had some of it to go with my tartare. The banchan are almost an afterthought. No kimchi tonight, which really...come on, korean restaurant - just give the kimchi. I neeeed it. The cucumber and apple kimchi were both bland. And these two I could compare to authentic traditional Korean banchan and the ones here were again, a total afterthought. If not elevated, then maybe don't offer it here. K-town is a few blocks away and I could get better for way less. Dessert is a pass. We got the lychee granita and it was a tiny bowl of cinnamon ice with cheesy yogurt. There was zero lychee flavor. Zero. Really left me disappointed for the night. The cinnamon flavor for the ice was also not something I enjoyed at all. I wish they had put cinnamon on the menu because I would've know not to order this. For those who have gone to korean restaurants that give a sweet cinnamon dessert drink at the end of the meal - that is what this dessert tasted like. So if you like that drink, you may like this. And a last gripe, when a server came to take the dessert and asked how it was. I made it clear I didn't enjoy it at all. This would have been a good time for them to offer a different dessert, but he just said oh and took the bowl. Service otherwise was excellent. We liked our main server very much and when my hubs dropped his napkin a new one was brought to him on a plate very stealthily - almost a michelin level move :) All in all, worth a try but a far cry from sister Atomix. Far. And sadly when we walked past ktown afterwards, we both regretted the dinner choice and wished we had just gone to an authentic Korea place or even a food court. My star rating legend: 5: A+ Worth a special journey (ie. I would go out of my way, maybe even take a flight somewhere just for this; exceptionally amazing) 4: A excellent, a must try, solid place 3: B good; nothing extraordinary, but would definitely go again 2: C personally would never go again (unless invited by someone and I didn't get to pick the place), but I can see how others might find something appealing 1: Fail. I would never return and recommend no on else goes either.
Atoboy only does a 4-course prix-fixe for $75.
Portions are just right and it comes with a bowl of rice and side dishes. My favorites were the Sea Urchin, Potato Jeon and Pork Jowl. The desserts (not part of the prix-fixe) are all very good too so make sure you try them!
Food is trash.
Service was decent. Although I didn't appreciate being lied to at the end when the server told me there is a difference between gratuity and a "hospitality fee". He told me the hospitality fee is not gratuity and that I needed to tip on top of that when... that IS the gratuity. Bro you're charging me an already insane amount for these portion sizes and you want me to tip ON TOP OF THE TIP? Fuck Atoboy. Fuck my server.
Tasty food, but portions were small.
I was not expecting the restaurant to be so long, narrow, and minimal. It was interesting! All the dishes that we tried were good, the flavors were robust, but I just wished that there was more. If there hadn't been a bowl of rice with the main dish, I would not have been full. Everyone gets the sea urchin egg - there was a bit too much of the seaweed which took away from the sweet uni flavor. For appetizers, both the beef tartare and the stripe bass were good. There are crunchy anchovies in the beef tartare that add a nice texture. The stripe bass is more refreshing and light with the limequats. For third course, the potato jeon is crispy and paired well with the oyster cream. For entrees, I recommend the cod over the pork jowl. The cod had a rich curry that complements the rice perfectly and the cod was cooked perfectly. It was flakey and tender. The pork jowl was rich and fatty, but it was a bit too fatty and the kale was an interesting pairing. It can be hard to get reservations - set a notify on resy to snag last minute reservations!
Very nice ambiance and the service was great.
However we found the food to be a bit lacking--nothing was bad but it also didn't stand out at all, and probably not worth the price that it was. You can get much better and much cheaper Korean food just a few streets away in Koreatown. The cocktail portion was also extremely small! It's good but for $20 you only get a few sips.

They were all delicious, but tonight we added some fried chicken, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Dessert SUJEONGGWA GRANITA was the perfect ending to the meal! Cinnamon spiced ice, burrata cheese, lychee yogurt and crunchy walnuts! The environment is simple and tidy, and the service is very good!
Amazing experience!
Atoboy is a Korean-inspired restaurant opened by 2 Michelin star chef Park (Atomix). The restaurant is serving a 75$ prix fixe menu, inspired by the concept of banchan (small side dishes served along with cooked rice in Korean cuisine) alongside a curated selection of drinks (with or without alcohol). To put is simple, the overall experience was superb from the start until the end. Dishes were creative, innovative, tasty and perfectly balanced, a true work of art. Each ingredient was equal in value to each dish, all working together in perfect harmony, i would say « Atopalate » (Ato meaning « gift »). Service was spotless, friendly, professional, and not intrusive. If you are in NY i truly recommend you visit this place.
Came on Sunday night 1/14 and hostess was rude.
She looked at us funny when we asked to see the menu and continued to glare the whole interaction which made me very uncomfortable. She repeatedly stated they werent seating anymore even after we told her that we werent eating there just looking at the menu. Super odd
Great find
Loved this place. Was a recommendation & not a place you would stumble across. Great ambience & excellent food & drink. A relaxed vibe. Will definitely go back some time

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
