Been to Arturoโs a few times in the 1990s but it has been a long time since Iโve returned. Ordered a small Arturoโs fiesta pizza which included, sausage, mushrooms, peppers and onions. Also got the veal saltinbocca raimond. Love this old school place. First time sitting in the back room.

They love Donald T in this place ! The bartender will make a point of telling how great the 45th dictator and chief is and the pizzaโs not that great !

I went to school nearby so always pass by this place so thought I give it a try. They only open for dinner so I had to wait till 5 pm. Not the friendliest bunch of ppl greeting me but I think itโs typical of family owned places, they just done it for too long so not a huge biggie for me. It was somewhat comfy spot but I didnโt really like the vibe - feels like a cross btw local pizzeria and small local restaurant. Itโs a very small place so I could see it packed during prime hours and weekends. Got a small pizza and it was huge, I think probably 14 in which is not too different from 16 in! I ate two slices and I felt full. The toppings seem ok, good quality cheese, tomato sauce, however, I feel the secret of good pizza is the dough. Here, the dough is not bad, kinda tasty but too much burnt taste from oven. The thing I donโt really like is the crust is too thick, similar to street pizza but possibly thicker and itโs really tough to chew throughout. I really enjoy the truly thin crust where itโs crispy outside and really soft inside and itโs very light, airy, and fluffy. Itโs an art but unfortunately not too many places in NYC has it. This one is more like street style pizza with enough cheese and sauce. I was looking more for really thin crust and lots of dripping cheese.
Be the first to ReplyDonโt go, extremely rude hostess and owner.
Donโt ever go here with strollers! Or in general ever if you want a pleasant interaction with hosts. When we arrived, the hostess was pretty rude and made a problem over the fact we had a stroller with us. We were told to hand the restaurant the stroller, which is fine and no problem. After dinner we get our stroller back, COMPLETELY DAMAGED. When we mentioned it to the guy who brought it out( apparently the manager himself) he went in full aggressive mode. Making us out to be liars, telling us we fabricated the situation, essentially calling us out to be *holes. This set my pregnant wife off and calling him out on his rudeness, he just walked away. 2 minutes later he comes back still abrasive and egregiously rude. We pointed out the extensive damage and instead of a calm and rational apology - he got even more angry and started yelling and calling us names again, even doing it in the face of a pregnant woman holding a 1 year old. This is out of control and insane. These people are totally unfit to run a busy restaurant. I have no idea how they still have a functioning business. NEVER GO

VERY WELCOME RETURN TO ONE OF MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS IN NEW YORK. CAN'T BELIEVE I FIRST VISITED IN 1988 AND IT'S STILL AS GOOD AS EVER
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, service and atmosphere
Had a wonderful dinner of pizza, wine and salad here with our family. The service was great and the food was excellent. Nice live piano music. Nice cozy and casual atmosphere.

The pizza was great. They have an old school feeling to the place. Simone is great. I love coming here on a regular basis . Thanks for everything
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Food in Yorkville!
I have been remiss. I, my wife, and son have been regulars for many years and this is my first review of Arturo's. Joe and Josephine, the warm and hospitable host and hostess of this restaurant, have provided extremely delicious and flavorful fare for their patrons. We go almost every Friday and I highly recommend the calamari, the red snapper marechiara or their many other dishes that are equally delicious. My son Stephen finds the shrimp parmigiana especially unbeatable. The service is also unmatched since you can touch base with any of the staff who are more than happy to satisfy your requests. Also, unlike many other restaurants, there is only a short wait since your dinner arrives soon after you have ordered. My only regret is that I haven't praised this establishment sooner. I will make my apologies this Friday.
Be the first to ReplyCrowded and noisy
It was a saturday evening, very crowded and noisy. However the food was good and despite the crowd the service was quite speedy
Be the first to ReplyDelicious pizza on the corner
A nice restaurant a local New Yorker took us to. The serving was super fast and the pizza was delicious.
The service was a bit too aggressive than what we Scandinavians are used too, so we found it kinda rude. But we were told โthis is how New Yorkers are. Donโt be offendedโ.
terrible customer service
the food is great. The music was awesome, however, the service is terrible. The person who handled reservations was rude and asked us to leave while we still haven't even finished our dinner and told us that the table was reserved and it was time for us to leave. I understand they are trying to accommodate as many people as possible because of the loss of income during the pandemic - but it's no way to treat customers. will never return

Wow! This place was the highlight of my trip. The food was stunning, the house wine was really good. It has a fab atmosphere too.
Be the first to ReplyGood pizza, everything else is average.
Our friends had recommended Arturoโs so we had high expectations. We sat down quickly close to the piano with live music. Then we sat for awhile, we hailed a bus boy for some waters. Service was average. She forgot our chicken parmโฆ but it was when we were enjoying the coal oven pizza so it came after. Mussels were bland, chicken parm a bit chewy. We did like the eggplant with ricotta and mozzarella. Very average dinner.
Be the first to ReplyStick to the pizza!
The pizza is really good. Everything else is very disappointing. The chicken cacciatore was simply awful. So you will have a good meal by sticking with the pizzas and avoiding everything else.
Be the first to ReplyBest pizza in NYC by a long shot
I tell all my friends if you don't like this Pizza and find it one of the best you ever tasted that I will pay for it.
The owners are second generation and all there customers are repeat offenders. If you trying it for the first time, you will be back.
It is a neighborhood gem that has survived all the generations. Don't forget to say hello to the owners who are always present Scott and Lisa.
A Neighborhood Favorite!
I've been going to Arturo's since the 80's. Rustic, delicious, so unbelievably satisfying! Staff is great! Music is great! Even though I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, I still make my way over to Arturo's My Italian Grandma would be proud! xoxoxo
