We came to visit my son and his family and decided first off to eat at Arlo Grey. Bran was our server and was simply amazing and attentive. He fully explained each of the items on the menu, and told us which had large vs smaller portion sizes, and suggested the perfect Chardonnay to pair with the halibut. Down to the food…..we ordered one of every salad, and none disappointed. The heirloom tomato salad with the sweet tomato jam was fabulous, but the crunchy lettuce salad was so layered with flavor, there wasn’t a bit that didn’t offer something else new and refreshing. The burrata salad, with its smoky flavored grilled sourdough and the soft, silky ricotta impressed, and the crudo was bright and fulfilling. Every dish had a small taste of a fresh herb, which highlighted each dish and brought it to life. The halibut and purée was utter perfection and was the perfect size for one hungry person or two people sharing the dish and the potato chips were tiny crispy salty bits of tastiness! The schnitzel was enough for an Army or 2-4 people sharing plates; the crust on the chicken was delish, as was the aioli and the shredded pickled kohlrabi . The wild rice was buttery, but didn’t overwhelm the dish.the crispy rice had so many different textures and tastes. Two of us had the baked Alaska; the tanginess of the warm pineapple rum sauce complemented the rest of the dish wonderfully. The Whoopie pie is not your kids’ overly sweet version, but a delightful grownup version. The candied carrot cake and the foamy frosting of the carrot cake, with its surprise of basil tips did a lot to redeem what I felt was a cake that wa sa but underwhelming. However, all the rest of the food more than made up for that small disappointment. Suggestion? Coffee. Not just espresso. Thanks for letting us dine and review!!
