Fresh sushi By Japanese chef
Their sushi is fresh and created carefully by their Japanese chef. You can order alacarte or go with the set. They know their stuff since they have been doing it for many years. It’s my getaway when I want an authentic Japanese sushi meal.
Be the first to ReplyReasonable lunch set
A friend said this restaurant is good i finally had the chance to visit on my birthday. It was a weekday lunch time and many business people were there. I had nigiri lunch set which was the cheapest on the lunch menu (7 nigiri plus maki, served with salad, soup and dessert) and it was quite reasonable for the value. Quiet atmosphere and very authentic Japanese interior decoration and I had a good time there on my birthday.

I've been supporting this restaurant for many years. Recently after the covid 19 quarantine, I returned to Aoki and still find it refined and beautiful ambiance. Food of the highest quality. I will always return.
Be the first to ReplyNice ambience
A small restaurant but nicely decorated and ambience. A sushi counter for about 10, a couple of tables and small rooms. Had their Omakase dinner for two. Tasted good and fresh. Nicely decorated and lovely presentation. Price was on the high end. Service was good too! We were able to get a seat because we came in early. Booking is recommended. Also part of the Les Amis group.

Really bad attitude. Not Friendly when trying to order take away.
Seems they no longer welcome take away after reopening of the lockdown.
Wasn’t like that during lockdown. Guess we know takeaway is no longer important for them...
Unhappy meal!
This restaurant doesn’t have an English name at the entrance and as a result it look me a while to locate it even though I passed it a few times! That made me pretty upset already.
This restaurant doesn’t have a picture menu. I ordered udon and tempura prawns separately as there’s No set meal for this combination. Very disappointed with the udon as the noodles were not the thicker version but thin ones. They were over boiled, no q q feel! I asked the waiter if I could return it as it wasn’t the fat udon noodles I expected and also they were so overcooked. He declined my request, no returns once item is ordered! Good thing tempura prawns tasted good. An order consists of 4 medium size prawns.
Paid $60+ for these 2 items. Personally I feel let down by the service and food standards and upset that the restaurant is not so easy to locate.
Still a great place for sushi
This place has been around for quite a few years. Had a omakase lunch. The sushi standards are still very high, exemplified by the quality of produce and standards of presentation. Standards are what I have experienced at quite a few 1 star sushi restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyExpected a lot more
Had lunch at the much talked about Japanese restaurant “Aoki” today. Nice quaint place and packed. They’re very particular about timings. First session starts at 1200He’s and the next at 1330 hrs, nothing in between. Reservations in advance are a must. (Fortunately we had one)
As for the food, well I’ve had better. We went for the set-sushi. The baked pudding and Miso soup were really good. As was the cold cucumber salad. The sushi though was very ordinary. They had the wasabi stuffed in, so only served the soy sauce in the dipping bowl. Very ok sushi. Huge lumps of rice. The desert was ok. Plum jelly was very different. The ice cream was creamy but sandwiches in crackers which tasted a bit like thermocol. Service was not too bad. But a little all over the place. Expected a lot better.
A Higher Level of Japanese
Higher in refinement! Higher in quality and presentation!
Higher in price! Higher in service! Higher with regulars!
Tasty food, good service
Four of us had the Omakase set dinner on 25 July. The food is tasty with nice presentation and the service staffs are friendly. Together with a bottle of sake, the bill was about SGD1200.
A great joint that is relatively good value for money
Aoki isn’t cheap. But neither is it expensive for the quality that it’s providing. With an Omakase menu for SGD200 per pax, and given that the dishes served were all fresh, I’d say it’s good value for money. Service was prompt and great as well. The truffle dishes (especially the one with raw white fish) are an excellent add on. Definitely worth your time if you happen to be in that part of Orchard Road.
