The service was non existent. I have never talked into I place and felt so unwelcome. The ambiance is prejudice. The food wish I would been served or welcomed. But just so that everyone knows the sugar sit on the table open so the nets gets the first taste.

1/5 by 👻 @A F. on 02/28/2024

Disappointingly, this is no longer an experience I'd recommend. After years of enjoying tea at the Brown Palace as an expensive but indulgent treat I have no desire to return. The price increase from $45/person in February 2023 to $65/person in February 2024 for the same offerings is both gouging and unwarranted. With predetermined tip added for large group, the cost was $83.20 for same items offered the year before. Additionally, there was no offer to refill the pot of tea that was emptied during our visit. Will seek an alternate tea location for 2025 and begin a new tradition.

1/5 by 👻 @Ashley M. on 01/20/2024

After securing a reservation months in advance, our group of 6 was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon experiencing Tea for the first time together. We were greeted with hostility from the hostess', and dismissed when we asked about the wait time (since it had been 25 minutes and we were still waiting for a table). I've worked in hospitality and I was embarrassed for the Brown Palace. For such a well known "4star"establishment to conduct their business so poorly and treat their guests as if they were an inconvenience is unacceptable. For 300$ per couple the service and food was underwhelming and not worth the price. Save your money and support a local business that will value your patronage and time.

Always enjoyed the afternoon tea at the historical Brown

5/5 by 👻 @Adam Y. on 01/09/2024

Always enjoyed the afternoon tea at the historical Brown Palace Hotel, one of the few places in town where the English high tea tradition is still honored along with impeccable service. It was even more so during the holiday season surrounded by splendid festive decorations. The tea selection is wide, but not overwhelming. The flavor is unique and enticing. The pastries were tasteful and delicious. Don't know why the scones were at the bottom plate, followed by finger sandwiches and sweets, instead of in the traditional order of sandwiches, scones and sweets though.

4/5 by 👻 @Fannie Z. on 01/04/2024

Teapot and utensils are all silver, classic English style tea service. The sandwiches are delicious, the scones as well. The desserts are a little on the sweeter side but go well with black tea. You can order extras if you want more of anything, and they are very good with refilling your teapot. Service is in point.

Tried our luck today with a very last minute reservation at

5/5 by 👻 @Lauren B. on 12/03/2023

Tried our luck today with a very last minute reservation at the Brown Palace today for holiday tea and we were not disappointed. Holiday tea is a long standing tradition at the Brown Palace that many people come too year over year. Because of this, when the reservations open on June 1st, it can be hard to get a spot. Don't get discouraged. Call and get on the cancellation list and continue to check Open Table. We looked 15 minutes before the reservation started and one opened up. It felt like the stars aligned. The space itself is easily one of the most magical in Denver at Christmas time but the food and drink didn't disappoint either. At $75 a head ($35 for ages six and under) it's not an inexpensive way to spend the day, but it is worth it. Make sure you dress up, many people look like they walked out of a NYC Christmas movie, and you'll want to too.

2/5 by 👻 @Charity M. on 11/30/2023

I have always loved the brown palace! I have gone every year for the last 3 years. But this year was unacceptable. 90 dollars for some tea sandwhiches, dry scones, decent desserts, and a glass of champaigne is ridiculous, however I might have excused this if the service and treatment had been special. The service was awful, our waitress switches 3 times, they messed up who had what tea. We had to package our own leftovers. When a guest pays $100 per person, you should expect a fine dining experience; this was worse than my last experience at the cheesecake factory.

Inflated price due to Holidays

1/5 by 👻 @Cruiser02374379467 on 11/26/2023

We were looking forward to Afternoon tea at the Brown Palace, however, after checking my reservation and the menu, the price increased from $60 pp when I made the reservation, to $75 for the holidays. There's apparently no difference in the Afternoon tea menu; the price hike is due to the holiday season and the volume of reservations. Recent reviews helped me decide to cancel.

First time experiencing afternoon tea and this place nailed it. The Brown Hotel is historical and they have afternoon tea down to a science. The pictures are pretty self explanatory. Everything was delicious: finger sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, blackberry jam, Chai tea, mixed drinks, oh my! What an experience and amazing memory with friends.

My recent high tea experience at brown palace left me with

3/5 by 👻 @Nat S. on 11/05/2023

My recent high tea experience at brown palace left me with mixed feelings. While the service and ambiance were excellent, I found the food to be disappointingly simple and the pricing to be exorbitant. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this place due to these factors. The simplicity of the food served at brown palace was a letdown. The offerings lacked the creativity and refinement that one would expect from a high tea experience. The flavors were ordinary, and the overall presentation fell short of expectations. It was disheartening to pay such a high price only to be met with underwhelming culinary creations. Speaking of pricing, I was taken aback by the steep cost of $300 for four people without champagne. This exorbitant price did not align with the quality of the food and left me questioning the value for money. It overshadowed the experience and made it difficult to fully enjoy the occasion. On a positive note, the service at Brien Palace was commendable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent hospitality. The ambiance of the venue was also noteworthy, with its elegant decor and inviting atmosphere. However, the positive aspects of the service and ambiance were not enough to compensate for the disappointing food and high pricing.

Historic tea

5/5 by 👻 @triotrois on 10/20/2023

Spectacular! I have waited 20 years for this experience after seeing it in a book on teas. What an experience! The room is stunning. We were seated promptly even without them finding our reservation. Champagne to start. Then breakfast tea, sandwiches, scones, and cakes. All were delicious and fresh. Plenty to eat. Lots of delicate flavor. The experience felt historic. Well worth the wait. Beautiful music in the background. For a Monday, tea time was very busy. Would definitely do again! Great for a special occasion as it was our anniversary.

Very disappointing food and price

3/5 by 👻 @kaitlynkerra on 09/30/2023

The afternoon tea at the Brown Palace has a lot of potential. To start, the atrium is stunning. It's hard to find a more beautiful setting in Colorado to have tea! The historic tableware is also on point and service was very attentive during our time. We really enjoyed the tea selection as well, as there is something to please all palates. The food left a lot to be desired though for the price point ($75 for tea and a glass of Chandon pre-tax/tip). Sandwiches were dry and meager in quantity and selection, serving only two small corners and one actual slice per person - egg salad (small open-face corner which is a bit bizarre for how messy egg salad is), cucumber (also small open-face corner), and one "Italian" sandwich slice with tiny bits of meat and mayo inside. The American-style scones (more dense than British varieties) and lemon curd were quite nice. The cream for the scones is a big stretch though to be called "Devonshire cream". It tasted more like double or whipping cream which lacks the rich and tangy flavor of Devonshire clotted cream. The desserts were an interesting selection of cookies, but none of the cakes or pastries you'd expect with a proper afternoon tea. All in all, this would be a phenomenal afternoon tea spot if the food offerings were improved (full sandwich slices, more variety, pastries/cakes, clotted cream). In current state, the quality does not justify the price point. If you still want to enjoy the stunning setting, grab a cocktail or glass of wine in the evenings for a better deal.

Not up to standard

3/5 by 👻 @Breckenridge Tours on 05/03/2023

I have taken Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace many times over the years. I think the standard is going down - no white tablecoths, limited selection (I dont care for chocolate flavour but most everything in the sweet section contained chocolate), bathrooms were very neglected (paper towel rack had come off the wall so the paper was on the worktop, only one sink was working, the lock of the toilet was only hanging on with one screw, dirty floor). Added to that was the increase in price so I dont think I will be returning.

Very Shabby and Not Worth The Money

1/5 by 👻 @Amy on 03/31/2023

Went here for afternoon tea with a group of friends after hearing great things. It was incredibly underwhelming. The hotel entrance from the valet parking is shabby and does not feel special. We were greeted at an old battered check-in desk for the tea service. The table linens were shabby and off white and the napkins were a very faded mustard yellow. The tea was served in giant sized scratched and battered teapots which made them very hard to lift and pour with the strings for the teabags hanging from the top of the pot. Please at least serve good quality loose leaf tea at these prices. The sandwiches were open finger sandwiches served with a smear of tasteless sloppy egg and something that didn’t even resemble chicken, again tasteless. The cucumber was open sandwich on awful white bread. We ordered a vegetarian tea with no egg when booking and there was one very dry mozzarella, tomato and pesto finger sandwich on the plate. (Most mozzarella is not even vegetarian and pesto definitely isn’t, but I doubt they bothered to check). When we asked if it was possible to get more vegetarian sandwiches the very sniffy waitress said there were plenty of vegetarian options on the plate already. Also all the sandwiches were mixed together meaning potentially the chicken and egg were next to the vegetarian ones. Don’t even mind them being on the opposite side of the same plate but not next to each other. The jam for the scones was already on the table in tiny glass jars. The jam was very, very sweet and I would have expected something homemade, especially considering the price. The cake selection was very average and one of the pastries had a think layer of goat cheese which tasted like soap. The scones were ok at best. $70 per head including a tip which was added automatically. This place is over rated and over priced. If you want to see how afternoon tea should be done Google tea at The Ritz Hotel, London. Yes it’s more expensive (but the experience is far superior). Whilst I appreciate not everyone will have an opportunity to experience The Ritz, it’s just a comparison of what a luxury experience should be like and this is sold as a luxe experience and is definitely not. All I’m saying is don’t waste an afternoon or your money here. It’s not special. The one highlight was the really nice valet parking guy out front.

Amazing Birthday Treat

5/5 by 👻 @KCinABQ on 03/05/2023

My bestie and I went to afternoon tea last week. Kayla was a great server. We had the Assam tea, the blue jasmine tea (it really is blue), with a mad hater cocktail and a glass of champagne. It was my friend's birthday, so it was a nice surprise when the piano began playing "Happy Birthday" and a cupcake arrived. I have a mild egg allergy; it was not a problem to have an extra cucumber sandwich. I wasn't really fond of the seafood sandwich, but it is more about the experience. If you are able to have tea at the Brown Palace, it is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

We really enjoyed our Valentine's day tea at the Brown

5/5 by 👻 @Michael B. on 02/15/2023

We really enjoyed our Valentine's day tea at the Brown Palace. The fixed price menu ($50 pp) includes scones, sandwiches, and sweets. For $5 more you get a glass of bubbly and a chocolate thrown in. The atmosphere is posh but the servers were friendly, attentive, and relaxed. We wondered if the Beatles had tea here when they stayed in the Brown Palace during a tour stop in the 1960s? Live music (on the day we were there, a harpist, but often a piano) accompanies tea. The food items were excellent--the scones are actually scones, not cakes, the finger sandwiches tasty, and the variety of small sweets were yummy. Plan ahead for this, particularly on holidays, as reservations are required well in advance.

5/5 by 👻 @Edgar Guillory on 02/11/2023

My husband and I visited this place full of history and magic without knowing what to expect since it was our first time in Denver and we can definitely say that it was the best choice we could have made! From the moment you enter this building, the friendliness of the entire staff is great, worthy of its 4 Diamond rating by AAA. We asked the hostess for a table for two people since we wanted to experience tea time, she quickly seated us and immediately our waitress came to greet us with water and introducing herself with us, later she presented us with the selection of teas and what a surprise. . . simply a great and wide variety to choose ! It really is an experience and worth every dollar you pay for it! Delicious bites that are included with the experience, which elevates every moment in this place even more. Every single moment the staff made sure everything was running smoothly. We really appreciate the attention and service of this beautiful place, it is definitely an iconic place in Downtown that you cannot miss if you are in Denver, Colorado. Thank you Asnaku & Hiwat for been amazing and for your greatest customer service . Until the next time Brown Palace . . . Lewis & Edgar Guillory @lifewithhusbands

Watch out for large parties for Tea

2/5 by 👻 @tlhtmh on 01/17/2023

We had 7 people in our group for tea. According to the menu, our $55/person tea would include a tea of our choice. This is not correct. With parties more than 4 people, you are limited to 3 teas per table. So our 7 people had to decide and share 3 teas. We wish we would have know that before going. Also, we had two vegetarians at our table. There is only one vegetarian sandwich served, so we asked for two additional plates of those. We still had plenty of the meat sandwiches, scones, chocolates, etc., but out of the cucumber sandwiches. Once we got the bill, we saw they charged us $20 for the 2 requested plates of cucumber sandwiches. We were charged the group tip rate of 20%. From the start, our server was very unfriendly, so we asked other severs for water and asker our server form nothing except the two additional plates of cucumber sandwiches. As our 3 teas were in large pots, she never had to tend to our table other than that request. We will not be back for a long time and definitely will not be back with a party larger than 4.

.*Review specifically for Andrea at the hostess

1/5 by 👻 @Jayme M. on 12/31/2022

.*Review specifically for Andrea at the hostess stand*OpenTable allowed me to make a 6:15 reservation for tea (which I knew was late considering that's no longer afternoon, but I thought they must have extended their holiday hours which was why I was able to make such a late reservation time). We get there and was told tea was stopped being served two hours ago. Totally fine, I get it and that mistakes happen with technology. My issue is specifically with the person at the hostess stand, Andrea. She was one of the most memorable people I have ever dealt with in the worst way possible. Treated me like an idiot, told me she wasn't sure why I was able to make the reservation but there was nothing she could do about it to help me and that I'm basically an idiot if I think 6:15 would still be afternoon tea. So we drove all the way from castle rock in rush hour traffic for nothing, which again, is not even really the problem. The problem was how we were treated once we got there. She didn't even believe I had made a reservation until I showed her the screenshot below and then still continued to be extremely rude. We ended up eating at Ships Tavern (a review for a different time), but I will not be back anytime soon. I have had afternoon tea at the brown palace several times over the past few years and the experience has always been too notch until now. I expect better service from you, Brown Palace.

Fine but Underwhelming

3/5 by 👻 @SteveGlovsky on 10/25/2022

This is certainly the place in Denver for a European style Afternoon Tea. Brilliant of the hotel to offer this treat. They’ve adopted the traditional format of attentive service and finger foods and do it well enough to be recommended. But having enjoyed various others around the world, I have to say that their food offerings are on the ordinary side. Your hunger will be satisfied by generous refills, but the sophistication and eye appeal of the offerings is underwhelming, particularly of the desserts. $45 per person is a pretty standard charge for this endeavor, but for that price, I expect to have a higher wow reaction.
