Delightful afternoon tea.
A wonderful afternoon. We took our Ukrainian guests for a traditional English afternoon tea and it was just delightful. The setting is beautiful and the staff were so friendly and relaxed, made us feel so very welcome. It’s not stuffy at all which is what we really liked. The sandwiches were delicious as were the scones and cakes. So much food! They kindly boxed up the cakes we couldn’t eat and we enjoyed them at home the next day. Loved it and would definitely go again.

We went to the Crystal Moon Lounge for a special treat for my daughter’s 21st birthday. We were made to feel like VIPs . Our lovely waitress and waiter were so kind and seemed genuinely interested in our day and our plans while we were in London . There was a pianist playing relaxing music which added to the ambiance. We chose our different pots of tea from the selection . We tried the aromatic and the mellow which were lovely and refreshing. The finger sandwiches were all delicious. We especially liked the coronation chicken so we ordered another plate of those , all included in the price. The plain and fruit scones were served warm from a box , with strawberry jam, rhubarb and ginger jam and clotted cream. They were delicious. The sweet trolley looked heavenly. It was brought to our table and the waitress described all the amazing cakes in detail . We had the full selection to try! The waiter then returned with a beautiful little chocolate cake with a candle for my daughter which made her day . Shortly after, the piano player visited our table and asked her if she had any special requests. We had seen Phantom of the Opera the night before so he played a medley for her. The experience was worth every penny and I thoroughly recommend the Corinthia for a special afternoon tea .

From the moment we arrived we received a warm welcome. The seating in the Crystal Moon Lounge was very comfortable and we were seated by a centrepiece lushly decorated with tulips with the most loveliest orb of white crystal like lights. That was the beginning of what was a lovely afternoon. Our lovely hostess was able to help us with our choice of teas. I chose white tea - it was as described "heavenly". The selection of cut sandwiches was a visual treat. My friend and I enjoyed our time and as it was a quiet afternoon we were able to take our time, enjoy the background music played by Kevin on a Steinway piano! We reluctantly left, we could have stayed all evening, we felt so at home. We were able to take home the cakes we couldn't eat and show off that we had been at the Corinthia Hotel. Thank you for a lovely afternoon. It was truly a lovely experience and to be able to talk and enjoy the ambience of the afternoon

My wife and I booked this treat for her 50th birthday. For a start, the service was average compared with other London hotels. We hadn't eaten all day, saving ourselves for the experience. The sandwiches were OK and we enjoyed the crab sandwiches in particular. The cakes were OK too, but nothing special. The tea though was fresh and very good. We had seconds of the crab sandwiches. On the train, within one hour of leaving, we suffered extreme "shellfish" poisoning. It was very obvious. Instant clear out of our bodies for the next 24hrs. We contacted the Corinthia Hotel who denied everything and basically told us that we couldn't prove it was their food. We hadn't eaten anything else and I have had shellfish poisoning before; its very unique! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL RESTAURANT. All we asked for was a refund and an apology. NOTHING.

I took my partner to the Crystal Moon Lounge for afternoon tea for his birthday just before Christmas. The afternoon got off to a stressful start through no fault of theirs as we got held up in traffic en route but they kindly held the table for us. However once at our table we began to relax and opted for champagne to accompany the Festive Tea. The tea plates were bedecked with festive napery complete with a take-away candy cane. The champagne (Perrier Jouet) was served in what seemed to be a generously sized flute. A large pot of Earl Grey with a warm pinwheel sausage roll to nibble while we were waiting for the sandwiches. And what sandwiches they were. Truffled Clarence Court egg mayo, roasted beetroot with goat curd, smoked salmon, turkey confit and prosciutto with caesar gem on a variety of the freshest breads. Once we had finished the first lot, we were offered a fresh batch which we were delighted to accept. The sandwiches were followed by excellent slightly warm scones which were light and fluffy. The rhubarb jam which accompanied them was unusual and delicious - there was traditional strawberry too, and clotted cream. There was a slight diversion at this point as my partner was served with a delightful mini dessert with a candle and a tiny chocolate sign wishing him a happy birthday. This was followed by a visit from the excellent pianist, who has an amazing repertoire, also congratulating him on his birthday and asking if he had any requests! Finally we were served with the pastries-and our lovely waiter (and I'm so sorry I've forgotten his name) explained them and also told us that if we couldn't manage everything then they'd box them up for us to take home. This turned out to be a blessing as we only managed to finish about half of them, and they were taken away and duly returned to us in boxes housed in a very smart Corinthia bag. As a final treat we were presented with a bag of chocolate covered almonds to take home. Afternoon tea at Christmas isn't cheap, However, the levels of food, service - in fact especially service - and ambiance at the Corinthia does elevate their festive tea offering above others. We never felt rushed, the lounge is beautiful - luxurious without being fussy or stuffy. This truly is a five star experience.
Be the first to ReplyNice, but certainly not a WOW!
As the title of my review says, this was a nice afternoon tea but certainly nowhere near the best I have encountered over my many years of teas. At £110 (including a glass of champagne) I had expected much more. It is certainly not on the same level as Claridges. The hotel lounge, with its beautiful Baccarat chandelier, is certainly impressive. Staff were friendly although I was informed that my table needed to be vacated after 1 hour 45 minutes. This has never been the case at Claridges. Sandwiches were satisfactory and the cakes and pastries somewhat tasty, although (and I do rather keep referring back to Claridges) there wasn’t as interesting a choice of teas. The lounge was also rather cold as there was a door at either side and a chill breeze blew through on numerous occasions. It also took over 15 minutes for a member of staff to take my payment. Too many niggles I’m afraid! I’ve been to the Corinthia before and thought (particularly as I’ve seen many excellent reviews on TripAdvisor) that I’d try their festive afternoon tea. It was satisfactory but I would expect much more than ‘satisfactory’ from such a well-respected five star hotel. I’ll stick with my favourite table 8 at Claridges in future.

Visited this beautiful hotel for the festive afternoon tea to finish off our Anniversary weekend in London. What a fantastic way to end the weekend. The hotel ,decorated for Christmas ,is stunning with a fabulous chandelier ,beautiful decorations and a pianist playing throughout to add to the ambience. The service from the very attentive staff was first class, and the sandwiches and cakes divine. The food was fresh and plentiful ,with a second round of our favourite sandwiches. We couldn't manage all of the cakes ,however they were boxed up for us to take away .Enjoyed every second ,what a treat !!
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievably beautiful location, even more unreal service
My mum and me came here for afternoon tea as a treat. The restaurant is beyond stunning with glorious chandeliers, lamps and flower arrangements. The staff were exceptionally professional, but very friendly. We enjoyed all the sandwiches particularly the coronation chicken and the egg with truffle. The cakes were immaculately presented and the scones delightful. In particular one of our servers Isaac from Manchester made us feel like VIPs throughout our visit. Our champagne was topped up and a second round of our favourite sandwiches delivered. Isaac made sure we had everything we needed whilst being exceptionally warm, genuine and is a credit to the restaurant. All of our interactions with the staff were also exemplary. Everything was faultless and seamless.

My wife wanted to experience Afternoon Tea on her first visit to London so we looked around and settled on the Crystal Moon Lounge. [[ Location ]] Inside the Corinthia Hotel which is beautiful and close to Trafalgar Square which you can walk around before or afterwards. Beautiful hotel and restaurant inside. [[ Dress Code ]] They are not strict on dress code and you can be pretty casual. I saw people wearing t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers/sandals. Don't worry if you didn't bring formal or smart wear. This is great since as a tourist in the summer, it can be very hot. [[ Food ]] We opted for the traditional afternoon tea which was about 65 GBP per person. The afternoon tea comes in 3 waves. 1.) Selection of Finger Sandwiches 2.) Scones served with Organic Strawberry, Rhubarb and Litsea Cubeba jam. It also comes with Cornish Clotted Cream in case you prefer that instead. 3.) Sweet Delicacies depending on the season For #1, the server will ask if you want to eat anymore sandwiches. You can get as many as you want which is a nice touch. [[ Conclusion ]] Overall the experience was pretty fun and we had a great time. I would recommend coming here for afternoon tea.
Be the first to ReplyLuxury Afternoon Tea, Super Excellent Service!
I have been to many afternoon teas around London but this place is so far takes the cake and is outstanding for me! To begin with is the location near Embarkment tube station just two minutes walk! Near Trafalgar Square etc… The service is so excellent! The afternoon tea package is brought in phases helps you not to be overwhelmed by everything in your face! To add to the luxury, our dressing was the same colour as our tea cups and saucers! They made a small chocolate cake for my sister who was visiting me the first time since I got married! Staff are so friendly and welcoming on top of that also very helpful! I highly recommend this place for everyone! I love the Lord Jesus Christ and scripture! My sister when she went to the WC found scripture there! This is the best place so far and will definitely come back with my husband and future family member visits! Cleanliness is excellent. They even have a pianist to add to your day! Wow was so speechless!

Cannot rate this highly enough. Food fabulous. Exemplary service. All staff we came into contact with could not have been more helpful & pleasant. Sandwich fillings sounded the usual but when you ate them, they had a slightly different taste. For example the egg had truffle - delicious. The cucumber had mint but not too much. The pastries were to die for. Had to bring some home but they were beautifully boxed up for us. From the baccarat champagne flutes to the contemporary dining service, it was all fabulous. Thank you Corinthia for making my birthday so special. Oh, we went into the bar afterwards for a final drink & a very nice man gave us free olives & crackers. I just loved the whole place & cannot wait to go back, hopefully to stay.

Didn’t quite hit the mark . Tea not hot enough … 4 pots. Service whilst initially good slowed to non existent . We were surprised to have food whisked away without being asked if we’d finished . Not necessarily a criticism but I do feel loose leaf tea is what makes these occasions special .

First Afternoon Tea experience, and it was AMAZING. The wait staff were so attentive, the food was good (even though I am a picky eater, I still enjoyed the experience!). We had champagne and tea, and the hotel is beautiful. Spendy but worth the money for the experience!

We visited here to as a birthday celebration and what a celebration it was !! Just fantastic !
The afternoon tea was the best I’ve ever had . The sandwiches were delicious especially the egg and truffle - it was divine ! There was a good selection of other sandwiches and they were even replenished when we finished the first offering .
The cakes were outstanding ( except the pink one but that’s my personal preference) and they even boxed up some for us to take home . The scones were served warm with lots of clotted cream and 2 delicious jams . The teas on offer were extensive and the champagne was delicious and served in the most exquisite crystal flutes .
All of the food and teas were served on the most beautiful designer crockery by an amazing friendly team. The service was impeccable and we hope to return again sometime soon.
Well done to everyone at The Corinthia, it was an amazing experience!
Best afternoon tea we've ever had!
I took my friend to afternoon tea at the Crystal Moon lounge this past Saturday, as a celebration for her upcoming wedding. We had a lovely table - all of the silverware, plates, etc. are beautiful and the restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous - very light and elegant.
We had the champagne afternoon tea which was excellent from start to finish - there's a great selection of sandwiches, the scones are so good (a personal fave and they didn't disappoint at all) and the cakes are so pretty and so good. Everything is also presented so well and you can tell there's been a huge amount of consideration and effort put into not just into what we're served, but how it's all displayed and plated up.
And while this was all excellent, it really was the outstanding service that made the occasion so special. Tim was our server and he was very attentive, super friendly and made us feel incredibly welcome. When he heard about my friends wedding, he sent over the pianist to ask about her wedding song choice so they could play a couple songs - absolutely the most thoughtful and high-end service we've experienced in London by miles.
I am a big afternoon tea fan and I would have to say this was a very memorable experience, one which I would highly recommend.
Also a huuuuge thank you to Corinthia and the team for being just so lovely
Beautiful setting, excellent service!
I attended afternoon tea with my Mum at the weekend before attending the theatre. We had a wonderful experience. The choice of tea’s was plentiful, the champagne was as lovely as can be expected and the food was perfect with a great selection of sandwiches. The cakes may I add were perfectly created with attention to detail! I would like to personally say thanks to Violetta for looking after us while we were there, she was very attentive and knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble, she is a real asset. We will be returning again in the summer.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely top quality; a perfect treat!
We were treated to afternoon tea by our son at this wonderful place. We were driving as all trains had been cancelled due to Storm Eunice and then we got stuck in traffic so were about an hour late. We’d notified the hotel in advance and on arrival we explained what had happened. The staff made it very clear that they were on a strict timetable as other guests would arrive after us. We asked if we could be moved elsewhere as we’d only have 45 minutes to eat our food. They said they would see what they could do. We accepted this as it wasn’t their fault we were late. From the moment we walked in we were treated like royalty; all of the staff were so courteous and engaging making us feel like we were the only ones and nothing was too much trouble. We were served with the most wonderful sandwiches and cakes and the decor and crockery were all exquisite. We had champagne in the most fabulous Crystal glasses; just perfect. Tea was served regularly as soon as you’d finished your cup, the staff were so attentive. Even though we were on a strict time table the staff never hurried us or made us feel awkward and when our time was up they made a table available in the bar area where we could take our tea and champagne with us. Special thanks to the Northern man (from York) for making this happen. I would give the service a 10/10 and definitely look forward to going back to this most wonderful place. It really was a very special treat.

Visited with a friend to celebrate a special Birthday.
From the moment we entered we were made to feel at ease & were completely looked after & made to feel special.
The Crystal Moon Lounge is simply spectacular.
From the million pound chandelier to the baccarat crystal glasses & exquisite crockery, everything looks & is perfect.
The afternoon tea itself was delicious & we both thoroughly enjoyed our 2hours of indulgence.
This is an afternoon tea experience you will remember for years to come & is unlike many other hotel “conveyor belt” afternoon teas.
It’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Classy
My daughter and I had afternoon tea during December. The hotel is beautiful without any pretentiousness. Very relaxed atmosphere, and great service , above all , a gorgeous array of sandwiches and cake .
Be the first to ReplyAmazing festive afternoon tea
We have a tradition to go as a family to festive afternoon tea at the top London restaurants and last Christmas was Corinthia/Crystal Moon lounge turn. And it was amazing, easily in the top three we tried so far and probably best service received (and this include previous experiences at Ritz, Savoy and the likes)
For once, the seats are in fact armchairs, extremely comfortable. The food and tea is served from separate trays, which means your table is not clogged up by what you waiting to eat - very smart idea.
Sandwiches were traditional and very tasty and had to option to order as many as you wanted (which we gladly took)
Scones were warm, soft and delicious, accompanied by very tasty organic jam and clotted cream.
Cakes were again very, very good and you could order more.
Tea had a very good selection, and it was filled before you could even realize you finished your teapot.
And service, as mentioned was absolutely top, our waiter made us feel special, explained the food served and made the whole experience absolutely amazing
We liked it so much at Corinthia, that we decided to return last week for a mean at another restaurant in the hotel
Well done!
Fantastic festive afternoon tea
I hadn't been to afternoon tea here before but would say this is easily on the same level as the Ritz and The Dorchester.
The setting was nice and festive and staff were friendly and attentive. Our server was happy to chat and describe the food being served.
Sandwiches were fresh so cant understand the previous comments. We had extra when offered as well as i find one round never enough. The sausage roll was also nice though i wish i had more.
Scones were nice and warm and the cakes equally delicious. They are served from a trolley into three smaller plates. We couldnt finish them all so took some away in boxes.
Would recommend to someone who hasnt been and looking for somewhere new to try.
Got the worst food poisoning I've ever had - avoid!
I had the champagne afternoon tea here for a special occasion, my sister and I taking my mother for her 70th birthday. What was supposed to be a lovely treat turned out to be a disaster - the next day, all three of us came down with severe food poisoning. When I informed the Corinthia, they referred us to an 'independent' food agency who confirmed the Corinthia have good food practices in place and that was it case closed... apparently the Corinthia are so respectable there could never be any incident of food poisoning here ever!! Well given we only ate here together it's clear for us where got it from. So all in all we paid around £400 for severe vomiting and diarrhoea - if this is the experience you would like, then go ahead! Or book another afternoon tea elsewhere where they take your customer's experiences a little more seriously.

Lovely clean hotel staff lovely. We had afternoon tea sandwiches were disgusting, awful selection nothing traditional, all strange funky fillings. Cakes were awful too then was given some kind of apple flavour marshmallow , penny sweet. Scone were good only decent thing. I’ve been to quite a few afternoon tea’s and this one was well over priced and disgusting . Gave me worst heart and dodgy stomach . So disappointed!
